Despite his size, Nebbin moves swiftly and, more importantly, quietly.

ENDRIN ISLE: Outside the Palace of the Emperor of Old Korvosa (19 Desnus)

True to her word, Laori does indeed "jangle when [she] jiggles," and as your group draws closer to the Emperor's "Palace," her noisy progress catches the attention of one of Swastel's street patrols. An alarm is shouted and pursuit begins. It soon becomes obvious that the thugs' movement rate is faster than that of your slowest party members (Emi and Laori). As you all round a corner and the Emperor's guard closes in, Laori--still grinning like a madwoman--asks in a terse whisper, "So...what's the play?"

Nebbin looks unhappy. "I think we need to stop them ... but we probably don't need to kill them!"

We're trying to sneak in to find a back door, but how close are we at this point? If we have a quick fight, is that likely to raise an alarm? And how many thugs are there?

Roll20 Battle Map

You're pretty close to the palace now, but two patrols of four guards each are closing in--one behind the party, the second up the street in front of the group. There's still time (and alleys) for trying evasion of some sort, but you're going to need a good trick or some impressive magic to give them the slip for very long.

Male Human Transmuter 8 (HP: 58/58) | Init: +8 | AC: 14 (18 w/Mage Armor) T: 14, FF: 11 (15 w/Mage Armor) | Perception +9 | F: +4, R: +6, W: +8 | CMB: 3| CMD: 17 Active conditions: Mage Armor, See Invisibility

"If we gather up, I can give us all a brief burst of speed. Hopefully that'll be enough to get some distance!"

Would casting Haste on the party be enough to give us a chance at getting away? If so, I would like to do that.

Female Human Slayer (Vanguard) 8 | HP: 34/83 | AC: 23 (T: 13, F: 20) | CMB: +12, CMD: 24 | F: +9, R: +8, W: +5 | Init: +6 | Perc: +11, SM: +10 | Speed 20'

Emi isn't opposed to fighting, if they could find the right place for it where they could limit their exposure to large numbers and not be trapped in a dead end. She thinks they can kill Swastel's stooges faster than he can replace them, which would help later on at the palace.

But, if the others have no taste for a confrontation she's not going to push for one right now.

Emi nods in agreement when Andrezi mentions the spell.

"As long as we're careful not to box ourselves in by taking a wrong turn that should do it if we don't want the fight at this time."
