Maybe we could meet Jegred on the road if it's unlikely he would come into a place like Oleg's? At any rate, we seem to be deferring on making the decision of how to approach the fort until we are closer. Should we pick up some climbing kits in case we decide to scale the walls?
We actually don't have the kingsman Tarl's body, they carried their dead home with them, but I think we can make a convincing ruse all the same. I guess the poison option sounds like more trouble than it's worth. Besides, if they suspected the ruse the Stag Lord might have someone test the whiskey first.
Jegred Volkov |
Jegred wanders a lot, and I think he would think that the woods that you guys are exploring would make a decent home. He could have stumbled upon Oleg's almost by accident, or he heard about the boar that has been troubling the area.
Whenever I meet up, as long as you have a knotted rope, I can levitate up the walls and attach it so everyone has an easy climb.

@Red Ramage I have a question. Does the 25% increase to cost effect the cost of magical components like the materials required for crafting? Also, does this change the cost of material components that have an actual GP value?
Red Ramage |
No and no. It only applies to finished goods purchased new. Stuff crafted by the group is half cost like normal.
Kivan Corsan |
Yay, Kivan will have enough to make Viciona some magic gloves of stealing stuff.
Pretty |
Pretty would also like to have some dexterity gloves... If you have the time and good will to help this poor soul... ^_^
Kivan Corsan |
@Idris Yep, she is the one who stole some books for Kivan so he could learn some of the stranger arts of magic. Kivan also unknowingly helped her steal multiple items to help her out, but he's okay with that now.
Seraphina Medvyed |
Is she a drow in your story as well? She was a very interesting character in the Baldur's Gate video games, I always enjoyed her story arc.
Kivan Corsan |
Didn't actually build her, but in my mind she had the drow-blooded, and drow magic alternate race, and she looked like a drow as well, so yes. I really enjoyed her story as well.
Seraphina Medvyed |
Red, is Kesten's ring a second protection ring, one from him and one from Joanne? If so, then someone else needs to take the other.
Pretty |
Thank you for worrying about it, Sera. Some days ago I posted an image that I take as a reference of Pretty to Kivan, and I do have a picture with the same character in bikini, but it's better to leave it out of here ^_^
A regular look.
Anyway, the first image you posted could indeed be very accurate, although the eyes are too dark and the tail too thick, but it's still awesome since the picture I had has no armor at all (and probably more "charisma" than Pretty does). I'll add both to my profile anyway! Thanks!
Red Ramage |
Yes, it's a second ring of protection.
Red Ramage |
World map is updated. Btw, all these tieflings have given me delicious plot twists for the future. *rubs hands*
Pretty |
Added the Ring of Protection to your row, Idris.
Stop messing up with the Tieflings, Ramage!

Had a bit of time tonight while you are making your plans. I typed up a list of NPCs you've encountered with a brief blurb. It's in the campaign info tab. It's editable by all, you are highly encouraged to add any notes you'd like to the NPCs and/or add those that I've missed. I know I need to add some of Kesten's men, and only a few of the NPCs mentioned in your backstories have been added - feel free to do any of that. There's going to be a metric ton of NPCs, so we'll be able to use this as a memory-jogging resource without having to scroll through thousands of posts.

Anyway, do any of our caster have the Sleep spell?
Seraphina Medvyed |
Nope, I think we both picked color-spray instead.
So the plan thus far is to "lose" a loaded down horse, with plenty of our leftover pork and the whiskey bottles near the river ford in time to be rounded up by the dusk patrol.
Then we wait until it is well and truly dark and one or a few of us attempt to slip inside. (Bara suggests finding the weak watchman, Fat Norry) Then maybe set the owlbear free, or maybe not since we won't be charming it?
If we try to climb the palisade, we have to be careful of the unknown hazard, so I guess we have to get close enough to check it out first.
Pretty |
I would be very happy to open the cage of the Owlbear while invisible ^_^
I haven't used my lockpicking skills in a while, but I'm sure they have not rusted up yet.
Kivan Corsan |
Well Bara rode right next to the hazard and she didn't notice what it was. I think we might want to avoid that area as much as possible if the assassin couldn't notice the trap or hazard.
On the subject of the owlbear. I think that we shouldn't free the owlbear unless it seems like we need a distraction. We can't charm it (dang you magical monsters.. jk ;)), so letting it loose will probably end up with it rampaging through the fort which may or may not be a good thing depending on the situation.
Jegred Volkov |
We probably don't want to face all of the soldiers at once. If Bara could tell us where the Stag Lord is, we could try to coup de grace him while he sleeps. I am not sure how you guys feel about that option, but it seems like the most sense. I just don't like the idea of taking on the whole fort especially if we don't know how many guards will be there.
Also Red, how does woodshape work? Does the whole item have to be less than 12 cubic feet or can I affect a small part of a larger object? IE could I cast it on the wall and make a small tunnel?
Pretty |
I'm against cutting his throat while his sleep, since he's the boss, but we could come with a very careful plan.
Can anyone remind me about the unknown danger Bara mentioned? Cause I seem to have forgotten the details and did not find it among the posts...
Kivan Corsan |
She said that the bandits warned her to stay on the path to the main gate, and even she didn't know exactly what the hazard was. It could be a collapsible hill, or even magical traps. Maybe they have some sort of alarm there that will trigger.
Post 1412, or close might be off by one or two.
Seraphina Medvyed |
Jegred, Here is the encounter map that Bara drew for us.
Fort is a 2 level ruin, with a 15 foot wooden palisade. Stag Lord's quarters are on the upper level.
I've also remembered that a certain creepy, scary gentleman promised us he would "do the rest" if we could get the bastards into the water?!!
*goes to find that post* Here it is!
Red Ramage |
Coup-de-grace'ing the Stag Lord is an available option.
Wood shape is limited as per the spell description, but keep in mind that a large wooden structure is usually comprised of many individual pieces - so you could grab a single piece of the palisade and twist that aside if you wish.
And yes, Seraphina, there's a vengeful spirit lurking in the waters of the Stolen Lands...
Kivan Corsan |
I say we give the undead what he wants. I mean he only wants the Stag Lord and we can all agree that the undead aren't so bad as long as they have goals and only go after those goals.
Seraphina Medvyed |
after the fun, when questioning Bara
"The Stag Lord's fort lies on the shores of a large lake to the south east. If you follow this river we are near, it feeds into this lake three miles west of the fort."
With a piece of charcoal, she scratches a map onto a piece of parchment, then flips it over and starts to detail the fort.
"The fort itself is a ruined stone structure of dubious defensive value. It sits on top of a large mound of earth that presents a steep slope to attackers. The Stag Lord's men have built a wooden palisade around the ruin and on top of the hill. They made mention of some hazard buried in the hill itself. They would not tell me what it is, but told me to stick to the path to the main gate to avoid it. The fort is two stories tall, and the Stag Lord claims the upper levels as his quarters. His men live on the ground floor..."
Good memory, it was indeed post 1412, link to original post.
Should we try and lure them out instead then? That might be an interesting scene to witness! Plus we take out the Stag Lord and appease an earth-bound spirit with one stone. ^_^
Kivan Corsan |
I think the undead man is too far away to lead the stag lord all the way there without him either catching us or giving up. Does anybody remember the exact hex the river warden thingy was on?
Seraphina Medvyed |
The implication was it that it could go anywhere via the water. So if we got the Stag Lord into the river or the lake near his base, that would do. Senor Styx will come to us, I think. It said "there is no place I cannot reach." Hell, we might be able to kill him in the tub. o.O

I don't think he's that powerful, but that might explain why the stag lord might not take baths.
Seraphina Medvyed |
ROFL!
Red Ramage |
Hex U5, at the "Ruined Bridge". He also manifested downed hounds to attack you in hex U4 at an oxbow lake where the river kinks.

Oh! Had not realized those were his hounds. Yes, I'm liking plan "Wet Bandits" more and more...
Kivan Corsan |
See undead can be useful. In fact I think we should re-evaluate our opinions on them to being neutral until they act evil or good just like poeple.

time to craft some +1 toy cars of slipping and +1 paint cans of the enormous goose egg.
Seraphina Medvyed |
Kivan can bait them out with Ghost Sound of an 8yo boy shouting,
"You guys give up yet? Or are you thirsty for more?"
XD
Pretty |
I also never made the connection between the hounds and the wraith... We heard howling close to the Old Sycamore, that's why...
Anyway, now that this plot has been revealed Pretty wants to kill the Stag Lord AND the Wraith. We had an agreement and he cheated on us. Let's slay him and if he comes back from the un-dead, all the better, more XP!
Seriously now, I would suggest we moved in the cover of darkness very carefully watching for traps, but Pretty never dealt with traps in her life... They are not much different from locks to disable, but finding them is a different matter...
Kivan Corsan |
Well we know ooc that he cheated us but nobody learned about it in character so there isn't much we can blame him for.
Pretty |
Now Pretty knows. Dot. She have other sources of knowledge other than In Character, so she will metagame use her instincts on this one. ^_^
Just kidding, of course.
Or maybe not.
