Welcome -- this is a much better play space than Giantip now that I've been able to compare the two. Most of the current players have been at it for almost a year, and you can see we have quite a game going here.
Also, throwing this out to the group -- I was thinking that maybe it would help everyone follow the story if I wrote fluff 'Interludes' showing you other stuff going on in the world. You'd have to separate character and player knowledge, but it might clarify some stuff about the storyline. Like there might be an 'interlude' about how exactly Faalcuun ran afoul of Dregoth, or how the slassans first encountered the Master of the Aerie's minions, or what the latter is up to, etc. It would be sort of like the 'Interludes' in Stormlight Archive, if you're a fan of that series (which I am, very much).
Amunet-Ra |
Yeah i like the stormlight archives.
Welcome Genth!
Hope you'll fit in nicely in this crazy game.
Sebecloki, i sent you something on discord, an idea based on a picture and the name you gave Amunet-Ras tribe :D

I'm here! Just looking forward to a bit more interaction, mainly because we sorta got throw into combat, and the only one who I can see my character trusting is Amunet, who is currently on the other side. Cuz sudden group after ambush, I would not see making very fast friends. :P

I think your intelligent weapon quit -- Cae is rebuilding his eidolon Raxus who dropped out, so feel free to do the same with Saris if you want, or come up with something to replace him.
Ri'Kli'Klek |
I think for now I'll try just being a non-combatant and trying to focus on interacting with a subset of the PC's, and see if that feels less stressful.
Cae Leonidas |
Aye, working on that, though I need a break. My Leonidas rebuild was quite a bit of work.
Note to self: Racial bonuses don't stack.
Cae Leonidas |
Given that it is Athas, would a pseudodragon familiar be an issue? Trying to plan ahead.
Hamza Mīnakshi |
Seb,
For the character blubs, what sort of info are you lookin for, exactly??
Hamza Mīnakshi |
Hamza hails from Raam(that he tells most people), a merchant and trader of House Mīnakshi. For him, House comes before all, and he'll do whatever possible or necessary to advance his House and their goals.
That said, he is loyal to those who prove their worth, provided they do not act against House Mīnakshi. Allies may be useful to help his House's cause.
Build wise, Hamza is dex attacker, specializing in hit and run tactics, ambushes, and some combat maneuvers. Thanks to the Path of War maneuvers, there's a lot he can do.
Hamza Mīnakshi |
So Seb,
I'm guessing my actual negotiations with the Slassans have fallen through or haven't been successful?
In case it wasn't clear, he's trying to broker what amounts to a trade agreement between them and House Mīnakshi.

No they're still ongoing -- read how it replied to Amunet

Ah, the 'reply' to my diplomacy check threw me off.
Are both replies applicable here, or just one of them, and which one?
Also, did you see my last reply? Might have got lost as you posted your interlude right after me.

Amunet had a much higher Diplomacy check than you, and started off in a better position in relation to him, so, mechanically, I think that means she's succeeded in pushing the conversation in a different direction, even though Hamza might want to talk about trade.
I saw both replies, I'll reply again to your latest post when I have a chance.
Amunet-Ra |
Well, Amunet doesn't know about Hamzas second motives, so it might be time he conveys them to her, albeit totaly the wrong time at this moment in her eyes.
Amunet-Ra |
About Amunet-Ra:
Fluff
Amunet-Ra is a maiden of the Serpent Singers elf tribe, at home nearby the ruins of Kalidnay. Relatively young for an elf, but older than many humans and others, she lived a typical elfs live so far, as far as she can tell.
Seemingly she had been trained hard by her tribes elders to take on certain roles in secret societies inside the tribe, about which she doesn't know too much yet.
Sent by the elders on a mission to find out what is going on underground in the ruins, she got captured and was freed by some of the party, who have since asked for the elves help and were then sent onto a mission to retrieve an artifact in the blood gods tomb.
Obviously Amunet-Ra is loyal to her tribe and has their survival on her mind, never turning away opportunities of personal or general profit, as any sane person on Athas would do.
Besides that, you never know with elves...
Mechanics
Thanks to the rules here Amunet-Ra can do several usualy heavily specialized things:
-Ranged combat with Shuriken
-Melee, flurry as a monk and sneak attack from rogue, relying on DEX.
-Combat Maneuvers: She can do any maneuver, but is more specialized on trip and a bit bullrush
-With her speed of 90, mythic run and jump as well as air step, she is super mobile, able to stand on and cross nearly any surface as well as climb.
-She also has tons of social and knowledge skills.
-And Invisibility paired with a high stealth.
-Next level she has reach and gains some battlefield control with the maneuvers.
-Her secret weapon is moving around the battlefield, provoking AoO's, hitting back and tripping people and then hit them some more with Panther style and trip feats.

Is there one you're hoping for -- it depends on the area. I guess in the Tabelands it's probably mostly severe-parched or extreme-drought. If you need one of the broadly setting appropriate ones for some build item, let me know and we can just say it's that.
Cae Leonidas |
I wasn't looking for anything specific. It affects the ability to use the Weather sphere; the more extreme the weather, the more difficult it is to change. Which is cool for Dark Sun, it should be tough to summon a rainstorm. I also think it could be cool to eventually be the guy who can do it.
I liked the interlude and thought it was interesting.
Ri'Kli'Klek |
I'll admit, I'm skipping over most of the supplemental stuff because there's no way Ri'Kli'Klek would know any of it, and I think his surprise is more genuine when I don't know it, either.
Amunet-Ra |
I like it.
Even if it is partly secret and for another player or not for players overall it helps to enjoy the story.
Cae Leonidas |
I was going to do Arsinoe next and offer some insight into the group she's associated with and what exactly they're after -- they're interesting in that they're incredibly aggressive and dangerous Lawful Neutral opponents.
That sounds awesome. With the seer thing I have going on, maybe I can even have small glimpses of it such as the visual of her pleading her case or arguing with someone, if that interests you.
I ran out of room on my character sheet and lost my links to the lore posts regarding Arsione. I am going back to find them again.
Amunet-Ra |
I made this sheet here, if everyone gets their info in, maybe it might be good for the GM and us.

Yeah, we can work that out. Cae is definitely aware of some of this, even if he's not clued into all the details, since, unless you tell me differently, he's not himself a member or adherent.
The basic set up is that they're the product of an extremist group that emerged, ironically, out of the Athasian equivalent of Socratic philosophers. They're a strange mix of ISIS and Neo-Platonic philosophy. They basically follow a philosophy that says the law = the truth, and the truth is an unwavering set of dictates. Everything falls to the truth. Only those who embrace truth possess full rights -- those who have truth don't have to conform to untruth. They're pursuing this highest law ruthlessly (well, at least to outsiders, they view this as the only rational approach to living in accordance with the 'Truth'). They were fellow travelers of the Veiled Alliance of Balic for a while, but really they have their own agenda, as well as a regional organization and plans to set up further cells in other city states and expand their influence. They have plans long term to challenge the sorcerer kings for the rule of the Tablelands.
My post about her will be longer, so that will be delayed until after the weekend.
Arsione is going to be a slightly more complicated character because she's younger and, while loyal, can still reach an outside perspective and see how radical her group's actions are. Her mother and some of the others are just straight up nut cases who have absolute tunnel vision and fanatical ideological commitment to their purportedly persuasive and attractive rational philosophy.
Cae Leonidas |
Vigor.
Cool, no, Cae is no extremist, just blind and naive when it comes to Arsione.

Feat question... which is correct?
Level 1 = Level feat + Fighter Progression A + Fighter Progression B = 3 feats
or
Level 1 = (Level feat + Fighter Progression A) + (Level feat + Fighter Progression B) = 4 feats

Level 1 = (Level feat + Fighter Progression A) + (Level feat + Fighter Progression B) = 4 feats for the gestalt levels
The mythic tiers and prestige levels are Level 1 = (Level feat + Fighter Progression A)= 2 feats

Hey Seb, I hate to be a pain, and am sorry to ask this, but since feats can increase the capabilities I have with Hamza,
Exactly how many should we have at 6th level gestalt, 2 levels PrC, total ?
Also, for the purposes of Gestalt/Prestigious/Magic-User and any similar feats that calculate their effects as half our *total* levels,
Are we 6th level or 8th level?
Sebecloki |

you're 6th if you don't take the 2 prestige levels, 8th otherwise (mythic doesn't count for levels, as far as I know).

Horrific feats are taken via our normal allotment of feats, correct?
Like, we don't get 6/8 *bonus* Horrific feats, and 2-3 *bonus* mythic ones, do we?
Because if we did, that would just be extra crazy pants....
Hamza Mīnakshi |
Also, will this level up affect us retroactively, ie, will they apply to our current scenes(both the discussion with the Slassans and the combat?) or will we gain the benefits once the scene is over?
Hamza Mīnakshi |
Okay, so we'll gain the benefits now? Ie, if Hamza goes out into this fight, he's a lot stronger now than he was prior to this level up, thanks to taking HOP Mythic Weapon Finesse. I wanna make sure I actually get those benefits.

Yeah that's fine. This thing is insanely strong, the rest of the party has barely scratched it so far.

Alright, blurb for Devapala, Seb, she's slightly changed from the Giant game, to fit better into Dark Sun. I think her focusing on 'Ending' the Sorcerers - perhaps even their source of power itself, is a better catch than her original one. Makes her NG as well, which fits a *little* better. Though TBH, she's on the Neutral side of NG
Hailing from Raam, Devapala is a "Scholar of Endings", part-historian, part-sage, and, under Abalach-Re, part-revolutionary. Among the Desi, she was born into a family of historians, the idea being for each scion to be able to guide others thanks to the knowledge of history. This knowledge is more than just memorized, it is a part of her, informing her actions through the whispers of her ancestors in her blood. Her 'magic', such as it is, comes from her own body, from understanding the lines of power that exist to link her flesh and soul - chakras, essentially. This knowledge and power was, however, a potential threat to the Sorcerer-Queen, Abalach-Re, and not long ago, her family and home were wiped out, leaving the elf to roam afar, searching for what might give her the power to bring an ending to a sorcerer-queen...
