Alright, so my question got completely missed.

Sault, may I ask if you're willing to allow Gunslingers from Ultimate Combat?

Sovereign Court

Rolling for starting cash 5d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 6, 2, 6) = 24 for Cavalier.

24 x 10 = 240 gp

This is Fallen_Mage's submission. Enjoy.

GM:

As I stated before, the hirelings will stay back and help the innkeeper while we adventure.

mikhail, it is average cash i believe not rolled

@Kynoko
Yes they are fine it may be a little hard to get ammo at times (it's 5 days one way to the nearest city and guns are rare)

Yes it is pointbuy not rolled. I don't like rolled because sometimes people get screwed or underpowered.

Just something for me, let's see who we've got so far. If I've missed someone, and I probably have, just copy paste and update.

Garren Kodlak: Human Cleric Erastil

Lucius Baradain: Human Fighter

Fizzwiddle Glockenfleffor XXII: Gnome Bard(SoundStriker/Prankster)

Orodreth Míriel: Elf Ranger

Lem Bander: Halfling monk

Johnny Porters: Human Rogue

Zelyasa Greensting: Human Fey-bloodline sorceress(Tatooed Sorcerer)

Dorian Van Hunt III: Human Fighter(Swordlord)

Tholozzan the Traveler: Human Cleric Desna

Mikhail Vaughn-Sarovik: Human Cavalier(Standard Bearer) Order of the Cocatrice

Garion Erada: Elf Ranger

Nerandeth Ildelaren: Elf Verdant-bloonline Sorcerer

And the ones that are completely done so far are

Arcane:
Nerandeth Ildelaren

Martial:
Lem Bander
Garion Erada

Divine:
Garren Koldlak

What is it that I need to do to be completely done?

You are done.

So, please don't allow my inability to read my own name have any bearing on your selections... :)

I am Bluefire13 and this is an incomplete char..

I am usually available in the evenings, spend most of them doing homework on the computer.

what am i lacking?

beyond an expanded personality/appearance section

Well Dorian I have a low wis and int so I can't spare skill point on things like perception when I have skills like breathing that need to be accounted for. But you seem complete to me.

Theordric I like this level of humor. It amuses me.

Garion as long as you see what in your heart that is all that matters.

Liam McAllister. A not-terribly-unusual name, perhaps, though the child the name was given to was definitely an unusual sort. Liam was left on the doorstep of a human couple living in the south of Brevoy on the edge of the Stolen Lands, a few hours journey east along the northern edge of the Shrike River.

His mother, a lovely redheaded woman called Eve, was initially very hesitant about taking in this green-skinned infant that had been left on her stoop; his father Isaac, on the other hand, took to the boy immediately, as if he sensed some special future in store for the half-breed. It didn't take him much to convince his wife to agree to take the child in, as the couple had for several years attempted to sire a child without success. His new father anticipating the man his adoptive son would become, gave him the name Liam, meaning 'strong-willed warrior.'

Liam's father was a tall man with rugged, well-traveled features. He had clearly known his share of hard work, his hands rough and calloused from years of living off the land as much as he and Eve were able. A devoted follower of Abadar, though not a member of the clergy, Isaac always wore a small golden key on a piece of twine around his neck as a symbol of that same devotion. It was this key that became a fixation for Liam: any time his father held him, he reached for the golden symbol that hung on his neck, clutching it in his tiny fingers while his father vigilantly kept it from his mouth.

As he grew, Liam learned a great deal about survival and living off the land from his father, about the creatures that are common to the region and how to navigate the landscape and how to fight to protect himself. The Abadaran had a passion for the land around him, particularly when it came to taming it and bringing order to the wilderness, certainly a quality that first drew him to Abadar. Isaac frequently took Liam out on overnight trips to the edge of the Greenbelt to camp under the stars, speaking to him often of the Stolen Lands and the Brevans rightful claim to them, of the attempts in the past to bring civilization to the uncivilized and how all previous expeditions had failed. As the years went by, he grew fully into the stature for which his kind was known, the years of outdoor work building his physique in a way that most humans could never achieve. All the while he watched his adoptive dad, seeing the rock-steady faith in Abadar he displayed, always turning to it in times of plenty and in times of want.

Try though he might, Isaac couldn't rid his son of the somewhat brutal nature common to half-orcs; instead, he could only channel it towards the work they undertook and his strongly-held belief system and values. However, his father's fervent dedication to his faith was an inspiration to Liam in a way that Isaac hadn't anticipated: in his seventeenth year, the adolescent half-orc announced that he was leaving his parents to go to Restov to seek out the clergy of Abadar for formal training with the church of the Master of the First Vault. It wasn't long before he came into some measure of conflict with the church, though, as his more blunt and forthright nature would now and then come to odds with the less-aggressive clergymen.

Try though they might, they couldn't purge the intimidating nature from Liam, finally deciding that the best way to approach it was not to fight it but to direct it, just as his father had. They introduced him to a local Inquisitor of Abadar, a dwarf by the name of Bazgan Stoutheart. The dwarf's gruff personality seemed to suit Liam's work ethic and the two became fast friends, Bazgan teaching Liam all he could about the tenants of Abadar and how to best bring people into his fold as well as how to combat those who strove against the spread of law and order. His training was cut short, though, when he received an urgent message from his mother that he should return home immediately. He did so, as quickly as he could, to find his home ransacked and his mother in dire straits. After calming her as much as he could, he discovered the source of her distress: the farm had been attacked by bandits from the south, coming from the stolen Lands, who tried to force the McAllister's to give up some of their food stores to them. Isaac, of course, was having none of it, and stood up to them despite being outnumbered. When the confrontation came to blows, Isaac didn't have a chance.

Just before a final attack knocked him unconscious, he shouted for Eve to hide herself and send for Liam. The woman sought shelter in a root cellar that doubled as the family's storm cellar. She only barely managed to get the doors barred from the inside with a sturdy iron bar. There she waited for hours on end until, finally, the bandits gave up and left...but not before they practically destroyed his parent's home for the family's defiance. Isaac himself was nowhere to be found...the bandits had apparently taken him for there own purposes, be they ransom or something worse.

Knowing from his time in Restov that the Swordlords were sending charters out for another voyage to the Stolen Land soon, Liam made a decision almost immediately. After seeing to his mother as best he could, pledging to search high and low for his adoptive father and make certain revenge was wrought against the bandits who had so disturbed his family, Liam departed with his traveling gear. He managed to quickly secure a charter to the Stolen Lands from the Swordlords and began making his way to the staging point the Swordlords had mentioned to him: Oleg's Trading Post. From there, his two-fold quest would begin: he would restore his family to rights and then rid the Stolen Lands of the banditry that had wrought so much chaos.

@DM Am I just missing character art?

It will take me awhile to digitally paint one.

I hope you find me worthy of admission! Stats all made and good to go, if I read the creation guidelines right we have basically three traits rather than the usual 2? If not, I'll simple drop natural born leader.

Also as a side note. I had someone message me about teaming up.

If you make your story with another don't feel that their performance will affect your chance. If you can make your connections so that if something happens it isn't going to require a full rewrite of your back story.

Also great submissions so far I haven't seen any that are instant DQ's so that is a great start.

Sczarni

If anyone wants to link in with me that's good as well. I'm up for a "Bastards in arms" kind of thing

I will work on one anyway. It will be fun. I am looking to link with someone and their backstory, but I took the Brigand trait which I believe states that I have to originate in the River Kingdoms.

@DM ....Is gear the only thing I'm missing for Zelyasa?

Just a note on Zel's background, I purposely left how she returned and how she escaped previous attackers vague to tie with others but can shore that up more if needed.

Sault, I wanted to give you a link for an image that I thought would fit Liam well:

Seeing as you are a tattoo artist, that would grealty appeal to Zelyasa. I'm sure since you are more comfortable with the shady areas of town, it is possible you helped her out during the attempt on her life.

edit: forgive my bad spelling and punctuation, typing and watching King of the Nerds at the same time.

@thollzzan that make the artist in me smile

@zelyasa I think it was spells per day but I will triple check once I am home work has been kinda crazy tonight.

looking over folks backgrounds currently to see the possibility of linking up with Dorian, I encourage others to do the same!

Absolutely, besides we share the same deity and as a player, I really enjoy playing alongside a tattooed sorcerer.

A cleric of Desna wandering upon one of her faithful in a moment of need, surely a sign that we are on the right path! Throw in our lvoe of tattooes and we've got a great match!

I was thinking of having the tattoo on the front of her right shoulder with the pincers angled towards her bosom, and the stinger running up her neck. In crowded areas or when trouble is about he melds to a tattoo, but when given the chance, he rides on her shoulder or her staff.

GP 9

Appearance:

Gavriil takes after the mighty Taldan knights he descends from. His hair is long and flowing. Skin naturally bronzed. Beard full and neatly trimmed. The toned muscles of a trained warrior. There are some thing though, that mark him as Brevic rather than true Taldan. Eyes of blue and dirty blond hair from the Ulfan settlers of Issia. A beard too full to be fashionable in Oppara. A battle-axe instead of falchata hanging at his side. Any Issian would curse that he's a Taldan. Any Taldan would sneer at the 'colonial'.

Background:

Knave! Thou hast impuned the lady's honor. I Salereon of House Gavriil do challenge you. Draw your weapon sir, and Gorum shall judge this matter between us! -- An introduction into the character of Salereon.

Gavriil is a minor Rostlandic house. Tracing it's ancestry to several noble houses, house Gavriil combines the passion of Khavortorov, the invincibility of Darahan, and the wild courage of Tilernos into a heady brew of charging steel that is truly a sight to behold. Alas, it is often beheld on the wrong side of a battle or charging into dragon's gullet. Thus it is that the house's fortunes have waned, or never really waxed for that matter, for there are only so many times that an entire generation of sons, and daughters but we aren't really supposed to talk about that, can go to their glorious deaths before there isn't much left to build the estate with.

When word began to spread about charters being given for the exploration and, perhaps, settlement of various areas of the Stolen Lands, the council were of two minds on the Gavriil issue. The ayes said that none could doubt the family's loyalty and sometimes having a great thundering lancer who won't look too carefully at what we're trying to do is just what we need. The nays asked whether we really wanted to risk the family dying out. There are only so many to feed to the trolls after all.

In the end, the council's deliberations on the matter were moot. Word reached the family and immediately all who were of age, and most that weren't of age, and some of those beyond the age, immediately began clamoring for the honor of representing their noble family in this quest to tame the savage wilderness and bring the bandit scum to justice. Fortunately a wise head, a member of the family by marriage only, suggested that a single member of the house, who was of age and of sound body, but not yet under the obligations of marriage, present himself to the-lord mayor. At this point eligible family members began to rather un-subtly scheme against each other, generally by attempting to break one another's limbs so the individual would be ineligible.

In the end, the matter was settled in the traditional manner. A thundering joust. Salereon won, though the final match was due to forfeit when a sister failed to maintain her disguise until after the match was over. Squealing in delight is not acceptable in maidens masquerading as knights.

And so it was that Salereon presented himself to the Lord Mayor of Restov, and was in turn presented with his honorable companions of the quest to mapping the area known as the Greenbelt, and subduing the bandits who plague the region. In the background certain counselors could be heard muttering prayers to Gorum, Desna, and really any god that might take pity. Please, just let him live long enough for the real war, and may the others keep him from doing something lethally stupid.

I like Salereon Gavriil! Do you think you could use an Elven Blade Companion or an Elven Bow Ranger?

Added a description in the profile.

Dark Archive

I've expanded Garren's background with his interactions with Johnny Porters. I really love a lot of the characters running around in this thread. It sounds like all of you will do a fantastic job building a kingdom. I hope I get to join you.

If anyone else wants a link with a cleric of Erastil that went on a pilgramage around Brevoy every other year. He attempts to support and build up communities. He's been around for almost 30 years and has spent the last decade making this pilgramage.

If you're from Port Ice, you might also look at Johnny's background as another acquaintence.

@Twisemail, I might be interest in having a relationship with your cleric. Maybe as a part of your pilgrimage every other year you paid a visit to my orphanage, so I grew up with your visits and even as an adult I still meet with you every time you come around. Since we're all trying to get on the same journey you're obviously in town this year and I could be sharing my desire to go on some sort of expedition I heard about.

Dark Archive

Garion is actually quite a few years older than Garren. I don't know that he could have visited in the orphanage. It's certainly possible that Garion has seen Garren attending the children at the Orphanage and they met that way. Garen's also taken young people out of the cities like Ice Port (once they're old enough) to get them into healier communities. He might have brought someone south at some point to apprentice with Garion as a hunter or trapper.

Sorry, I was posting on the way out and just saw that you were a visiting cleric, I didn't take the time to check your age. He's only 2 years older, but still that would mean they were roughly the same age and wouldn't have met so young. I can definitely work with the other stuff though, since my guy still does odd jobs for the orphanage. Since he is a guide he could have helped you in those ways. I like it.

@Lloyd
I spy with my little eye 4 traits which ,if the american school system didn't fail me and teach me incorrectly because god knows they didn't do well with me and spelling, is more than three.

Ah, but if you take a code of honor, via knights of the inner sea, you get a trait with that, as well as penance for breaking it. I saw it and just thought it fit so well.

Information on Valor:

VALOR
Knights who follow the code of valor believe that nothing is more important than courage in battle. The strength of knights is determined by their willingness to stand in the face of overwhelming odds. With out valor, knighthood is merely a title. Their vows are as follows.
-I will accept any challenge to combat if given regardless of my opponent.
-If I know combat to be the best course of action, I shall not let an enemy discourage me from it with a threat of overwhelming force.
-Once battle is a forgone conclusion, I will be among the first of my allies to charg e and engage our foes.
-I shall not willingly succumb to fear. If retreat is a necessity, I will be among the last of my allies to leave the field of battle.
-I will not leave any of my allies on the field, nor will I abandon them while they are in immediate danger.

Social Trait
Contagious Mettle: If you follow this code, you gain a +1 trait bonus on Will saves against fear. In addition, any allies adjacent to you receive a +1 morale bonus on Will saves against fear.
Penance:
Knights who violate this code must perform penance by volunteering their service to a local militia, army, or fighting company for at least 1 week, whether by performing unusual missions, leading troops into battle, or assisting in the training of soldiers.

@Bloodwolven Most definitely. Salereon not much for distance, that's what charging is for, so a ranged companion would be welcome. Even better you can keep him from getting lost. People skills he has, sort of, wilderness skills are somewhat lacking.

So, how did your elven huntsmen come to know the mightiest knight of life? Is is a personal connection, or have you and/or your family watched over this poor tribe of humans?

I have a half elven magus in the works, all I really need now is to buy my stuff and make a profile.

Dark Archive

If anyone is bringing in a character young enough to have been a child during Garren's wanderings (Started a decade ago, maybe a bit more if it works out for story), I'd love for a specific tie. Garren's horse was named Goat by a child he helped out years ago. I'd love to see that kid be along with the group. It'd make for a fun bit of RP, and something that can be revisited.

@Sault: Are you alright with us starting over the listed starting ages? I'm not sure how long the campaign is supposed to last, so I don't know if it'd impact my stats later. I see Garren as just past 30 at this point.

That was my original intention with the back story I had in my head. I can adjust my age to be younger, it wouldn't affect my original back story much, just the one I pm'd you. I can write that up if you're interested.

Sovereign Court

All set!

This is Oterisk, and I think I am all set. I would be 8 about ten years ago, so we can work something out. I was not a wanted child, so I would have attached myself to anyone who showed me kindness.

Also, I use the Aldori Dueling sword, so anyone else who would have received some training could know me from back when.

@Sault, Click on my homepage in the description for all needed information.

Silver Crusade

@ Lloyd Jackson I think my family has watched over your tribe for many years if not generations, for a debt to be paid, a debt of life and loyalty that can never truly ever be paid back, so we protect. Many of my kin have become close companions to our wards and I think this ranger has needed to become friends due to the nature of this prestigeous knight always getting lost. So now Kirren, as you know him, travels beside you rather than from afar.

Well, I think that is a pretty good starting point. I will be finishing the character tonight, though I will see how much I can get done at work on my free time. ;)

@twilsemail ten years you say, If Lloyd Jackson doesn't get in do you think I could apply the story to your character or perhaps we could all be tied together by fate...

@Sault: Is there a particular reason you took Liam off of your 3.0 list when he was on your 2.0 list? Thanks!
