Hello and welcome everybody once again to The Korush Show, I'm your host, Korush Clergy, and this is the Age of Korush! Let's enjoy a little reminisce about this AP's true main character...
First encountered at a small bakery in Midnight's Muddle, Greyhawk, Korush and Tanith were fast friends.
"I mean no disrespect, Tanith, but the Champion's Games are not something you join on a whim. Maybe you could join as another champion's support, but otherwise...well, we're talking about the best in the world here. Do you really believe you're that good?"
Tanith rapidly finds himself not liking this man.
Farrukh and Korush also hit it off while gambling at Norebo's church.
Later, to everyone's delight, Korush turned up at the Champion's Games! Sparks flew!
Carina arches an eyebrow in surprise as Korush approaches and kisses Tanith on the cheek. She feels a surge of anger, her hand immediately going for one of her bomb vials before she stops herself.
After allying with Korush during the Champion's Games, Korush easily bested Farrukh in solo combat, but showed mercy on account of their friendship. He was, of course, an excellent sport about losing.
"But I suppose luck plays into everything to some level."
And finally, some months later, the party would come across Korush's newest conquest: The written word.

Got a test and a project due tomorrow. I'm already considering skipping a morning class to get more sleep (don't worry, it's a completely worthless hour-long ramble from the textbook every day), so I can't really justify putting the time into a post tonight. I'll be better off tomorrow!
Actually, I'm going to be swamped tomorrow. I need to focus on what needs to get done. Wednesday is the day we're looking for here.

So, y'all have probably noticed that my posting has been abominable of late. I have plenty of good excuses for that, but markedly fewer for the poor notice Ive been able to give regarding that irregularity. This week and the next have been full of midterms and major projects, and this, coupled with some unrelated anxieties regarding dorm social life, has made me very unproductive.
I am not going to be able to post daily during this next week. That's just a guarantee. The next week should be better, though I will still have some problems to get done, and then I'll be entering NaNoWriMo—which could go either way, depending on how classes are going by then. Certain obligations will ebb, but others (such as novelwriting) will certainly emerge. December should be easier, especially when the term ends, and I think I will have found equilibrium by then. I don't anticipate things being quite so bad come Winter term, when I'll have had a chance to take stock and sort out a schedule that accommodates all my responsibilities.
I don't want to make any false guarantees about how active I'll be, because I don't know. Sometimes I'll need to take breaks. The one guarantee I can make is this: I have no intention of ending this PbP anytime soon. Assuming people are alright tolerating some irregularity, I will continue to post irregularly through these rough patches.

We'll still be here when things even out for you, KC. No worries.

I kind of love and kind of hate how I deliberately chose the worst possible combinations to represent how a colonizing culture butchers foreign cuisine and the party's response was, "Wow, cheese and pickles on popcorn, sounds amazing!" I literally consulted a Texan (and Texans are, as we all know, the experts at dealing with other regions ruining their food) to make sure it was solid!
Terrible.

DM Jelani |

I mean, isn't that how it goes? You think Italians invented noodles? All the Chinese dishes with tomatoes? Potatoes in Ireland? People meet, trade, screw, exchange food. That's a good thing. What's the point in food-based cultural isolationism? Making something new doesn't ruin the old things that you combined to make the new thing. It just makes more things.

Hey, at least I asked the practical question about how one would go about eating it with minimum mess. I just assumed we were dipping our pickle in the cheesy popcorn, getting kernels to stick to it, and then crunching it all together. (Like those old flavor-dip candy sticks.)
But again, TJ's pickle flavored popcorn is actually pretty good...
Also, now I kind of want to eat buffalo chicken potstickers just to make a point.

Speaking as someone who once worked at a Tex-Mex restaurant in Brooklyn, I don't disagree with that statement.
But on the other hand, isn't Tex-Mex itself basically a mutilation of Mexican cuisine by Americans in Proximity? Its existence kinda makes the point that blending food types together can work quite well.

Kobold Catgirl |

The fact that Tex-Mex is good means that it's not "mutilation"—it's just a different cuisine. An adaptation, if you will.
Certainly, by that logic, we could say that "Brooklyn Tex-Mex" is its own cuisine, but only if we decide that "bad version of good food" gets to be considered a stylistic choice. :P

Or Swedish Tex-Mex . . . produced by an Oklahoman emigré . . .
Visions of textureless freezer-burned guacamole
Rubbery tortilla chips yearning to eject their organic constituents and become pure salt,
Drenched in lukewarm nacho liquid
With "salsa" tasting more of vinegar than peppers
*shudder*

DM Jelani |

Lol. Try Chinese 'pizza' or other western foods. Especially like 5+ years ago. Things are getting better now. But I have had some butchered versions of American classics over here now that I think about it.
Edit: Funnily enough, it's exactly opposite in Seoul. When I went there I was super impressed by the food. Everything not Korean is like an exact copy of wherever it comes from. Not sure how they pull that off, but it was good...

I am not dead, to be clear. It's just been hard to balance NaNoWriMo (and the general expectations of school and PbPs) with the social expectations of living in a dorm. I find myself spending a big chunk of my time talking to friends, which, as a lifelong quasi-introvert, is a novel experience I am not yet adjusted to budgeting into my schedule. I am planning to make a post tomorrow! :)

Uuuugh. This sucked, guys. Sorry about the hiatus—the buildup to Dead Week honestly had me more stressed than Finals Week does so far. Paizo kept eating my posts and I kept getting sour, and instead of posting here and letting people know, I avoided my responsibility.
Finals Week is next week, so, y'know, no promises, but I'm going to aim to avoid anything like this happening again. I don't think I'll have another combination NaNoWriMo + full load of finals and final projects + roommate dealing with crippling anxiety + overdue editing commissions schedulekiller anytime soon.
That said, I wrote 14k words last night and did not get much sleep, so no promises as to the quality of what I'm about to post. :P

Why should Cuetzpallinus be put through such agony?

Cuetzpalli |

Hahaha.

Cuetzpalli |

Alright. It was more a joke about the phrase "buttonhole the s~#%" and how dumb Cuetzpalli is than rape. I'm not down with rape jokes either. Sorry if it bothered anyone, I won't use the word again.

Cuetzpalli |

Actually, to be frank, are we going to get to the dinner anytime soon and move this adventure forward? We've been working on that since like what...June?
If the game is just going to stall in social interactions in Allhaster forever I might as well quit instead of trying to make jokes and being accidentally offensive instead. I'm in this to stop the Age of Worms, not to roleplay a socially awkward stupid person in an evil city for all eternity.

Kobold Catgirl |

I'm getting that signal from about half the party right now. It's deeply frustrating to me. I appreciate you actually addressing it, instead of posting passive-aggressive comments in the gameplay thread.
I'm not going to deal with this over the holidays. Calling a hiatus; we'll pick the game and conversation back up again after the 27th.

Tanith 'Kordson' Creed |

I'm confident things will pick up again as soon as KC is no longer underwater with schoolwork and/or plague.
Also, Happy Holidays everyone!

I mean, I'd like to get a move on soon too. I definitely feel this arc has gone on a little too long, and I'm anxious to get to the endgame with the current crew intact.
But I feel like it's mostly a couple people trying to pull us through the plot right now - (tasteful) jokes are good to intersperse the plot s***, but we're all very capable of serious RP, too. Sometimes it seems like the "My character doesn't have any opinion and doesn't say anything" or "[insert joke]" response is just an explanation for the player not understanding what's going on. Is it that you don't have enough time to look up s#@!? Maybe the rest of us can help with that. But I think all of our characters have at least some investment in and understanding of preparations for the feast where we can find out about Bucknard and the Age of Worms (not to mention the evil Prince we want to dethrone).
