Teller of Tales |
U13 is the room directly above this one, through which you shortly followed Kikono.
You go up again and do a quick search of Kikonos study.
On his desk you find a lot of paper sheets with some kind of scribbling on it.
You also find his finely crafted fountain pen. You are not completely sure what the tip is made of, probably indeed some kind mythical feather, but it sure looks expensive.
Appraise please
:Sunny: |
Sunny gives Zaiobe one last encouraging hug and smile before skipping off after all of her companions.
Can one appraise without a skill" I think it's possible if the check is 10 or so?
Not yet. Though I'm betting every one will once they get a spare skill point or two. (^_~)
Hijiro |
Hijiro looks at the writing and though he reads and speaks Tian, can make no sense of what is written there...
linguistics: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
Teller of Tales |
You leave the rooms and come about the corbies again, unknowing of anything that happened, but eying you suspiciously. Zaiobe just quickly dismisses them and they return to whatever they did before.
You search most of the level, but don't find much else of interest. Some old bones here, corby feathers there, and so on.
The only room up here you didn't search is a small room where Zaiobe advises you to stay out, as it belongs to the corbies priestess, a mean old female who doesn't like visitors and usually greats them with a claw to the face before sacrificing them to Pazuzu.
The priestess room is U15. Otherwise this level is clear besides the corbies walking all around.
If you want to kill the birds you are free to try, otherwise you can either try to disturb the pristess or start searching the ground floor/ the cellar.
Gorag |
I don't know. On the one side, we aren't forced to disturb the priestess. On the other side. We don't know, if the priestes has anything to do with our problem and we don't know if she would assist Kikono if he's looking for allys against us. What do you all mean.
:Sunny: |
Sunny shifts her weight from foot to foot as she thinks.
"Well...we already know tha' Corbies be nasty, stinky birds. So...if tha' rest of 'em aint too close an' we...y'know...open tha' door an' let tha' stinky old bird have pretty much everything we can throw...?' Sunny suggests.
"Though...um...maybe we should keep lookin' fer Nasty old Mr Big-nose? He seems tha' biggest mean old stinky in tha' place..." She looks at her friends and companions.
"Ya' know? Take out tha' biggest thing an' all-a rest will seem small?"
:Sunny: |
So...have we explored every room on this level? Is there a second stair well some where abouts? I thin we're looking for a way past the troglodytes. Unless we've actually dealt with the troglodytes and hence can get past them now?
Hijiro |
I was just waiting for a decision from the group.. a little confused as to the situation, so I thought I'd let the rest of the group make the choice as to which way to go
Teller of Tales |
The problem with this group is, that it is never able to find any decision at all... So far pretty much every "what to do" decision ended with me deciding for the group after 1 week+ of silence...
You have seen everything on this level besides the priestess room and the "cursed" staircase (which from here just leads to the ground floor (and then further down)
:Sunny: |
Ah! The said 'cursed stair case' sounds like the way to go. Since we want to get 'down', yes?
Yix |
Ah I didn't want to just swoop in and try to take over as the party face, but if needed I can do so. I understand your position DM, I've been in the exact same thing before
Yix takes a moment to look at the map and consult with the others, then points to the priestess room "Let's go there first, leave the cursed things for last"
Gorag |
Ok, at least one of you is able to open his mouth and take part at the discussion.
If no one else want's to say anything, I'll join Yix decission and we'll go in.
Everyone ready?
Hijiro |
"Ready."
:Sunny: |
*Blinks @ Gorag's comments*
Sunny adjusts her kit, shifts her grip upon her blade and nods.
"Aye, lets do it."
Teller of Tales |
As you open the door a wave of negative energy brands towards you, followed a raspy voice cursing "GRAH, I told you yesterday I don't care about intruders, morons. LEAV... oh, it's them...".
Once the door is fully open you see a cramped chamber before you, a robe clad corby standing in one corner. On a desk next to her lies a wild tangle of body parts, both old and very new, crudely fashioned into a multilimbed, remotely humanoid shape. At least it doesn't seem to be moving.
Everyone suffers 2d6 ⇒ (5, 3) = 8 damage(DC 11 fort for half).
Combat starts now (if no one does anything imaginative to stop it at least) and everyone can act now (as in everyone acts before the enemy).

Couldn't find the DC in your alias, I guess it should be 13 or 14 though.
While she does not fall, the moment of flailing around is enough to make her Gorag grab only thin air.
Yet only seconds thereafter she is stabilized. By being pierced by rapier and spear.
She clenches her beak and after saying a few crackling words sound erupts over Gorag and Marlon.
Gorag and Marlon suffer 1d8 ⇒ 1 damage and have to make a DC 14 fort save or are stunned 1 round.

The birdwoman is badly savaged by Gorags bite
"ARG; DAMmn you. Not ready, no choice..."
She quickly steps to the table and pulls a small, dimly glowing object out of a pocket in her robe. With horror you recognize it as a slowly pulsing heart before she violently slams it into the things chest, washing the room in a sudden explosion of negative energy. Then the thing jerkingly starts to move. And lets out a marrow chilling scream.
It seems you just witnessed the animation of a strange, negative energy infused abomination of flesh golem.
Everyone gets 1d8 ⇒ 6 negative energy damage (DC 11 fort half). Next turn.

Hijiro |
fort save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Hijiro gasps as he takes the full force of the negative energy from the animation of the creature, then he moves if necessary to retain flank advantage on the priestess and attacks her with his rapier again.

The priestres finally falls under the combined assault of Hijiro and Yix.
The thing slowly turns its body to Sunny, bloodshot eyes focusing tiredly on the sword in his side "Wha..?". The dead light shining out the hole in his chest has reduced to a narrow cone, encompasses the elf before him, slowly sapping her strength.
1 Damage to Sunny. Priest down, golem didn't do much.
:Sunny: |
"Oh.." Sunny replies...and actually stops/stays her attack. The creatures actions/reactions are not those of a slavering beast, which she assumed would happen with the bird priestess around.
"Hey there...?" She offers.
With infernal healing going. Sunny's HP should be 'stable' at the moment...
