Thrice Cursed is definitely a cool Barbarian Moniker!
in regards to Rage/sensations... well, is it such a blind rage that you can't decide friend from foe? is it so blinding that you must attack the nearest living thing? Even in the heat of the moment, you can still make decisions, just not ones that require concentration :) In older versions of rage/berserk (from D&D) you *were* required to attack *ANYTHING* though you could always attack enemies before friends :)

How many potions of clw could I buy in the town j? I was thinking 4 or maybe 6.
I never had an answer on this Jz, were there any potions in the town for me to buy?

Nas. I get that the barbarian is still capable of rationale thought during rage, to some extent. I suppose my question was about the nature of a barbarian's rage and the biological management of pain during a rage.
It is pretty standard for the raging barbarian to take a lot of punishment during battle. I wonder if there is something in their physical and mental make-up that enables them to treat pain differently from others.
It could be that the nature of the rage helps mask that pain - thus the temp HP gained etc. If pain is masked during rage then perhaps to a barbarian it is just something that fuels anger and increases his own violence. Kind of like the Hulk. I just wondered if, in such a state, the barbarian would be able to pinpoint specific pain or would he just be aware of pain generally, let it just wash over him and fuel his rage (increased strength and rage powers).
After coming out of rage and regaining a normal state he would then become aware of his various agonies and this could be represented by the loss of the temp HP gained.

There's a sidebar table in the Skull and Shackles player's guide that deals with amputations and scars as a variant to massive damage. Not sure if you'd care to adopt it for this scenario, but here's the table.
(Bear in mind, these were designed for a campaign where scars and various amputations are genre tropes.) =\
d20 Battle Scar or Amputation
1–5 Minor scar—interesting but otherwise cosmetic
6–8 Moderate scar—cut on face (+1 bonus on Charisma-based skill checks for first scar only, consider subsequent cuts as a major scar)
9–10 Major scar—severe cut on face (–1 penalty on Charisma-based skill checks**)
11–14 Loss of finger (for every 3 fingers lost, –1 Dex)
15–16 Impressive wound (–1 Con)
17 Loss of eye (–4 penalty on all sight-based Perception checks)
18 Loss of leg (speed reduced to half, cannot charge)
19 Loss of hand (cannot use two-handed items*)
20 Loss of arm (–1 Str, cannot use two-handed items*)
* Losing a single hand or arm does not affect a spellcaster’s ability to cast spells with somatic components.
** At the GM’s discretion, characters with major scars may also be granted a +1 bonus on all Bluff, Diplomacy, or Intimidate checks against other pirates, as the scars of battle are much admired by pirates.

J what are our options with selling this cursed ring?
Could we sell it as a ring of regeneration with a successful bluff check ?
We could still get a good chunk of change for it then, kind of like palming off a dodgy second hand car to someone.
Bought as seen pal.....unlucky :)
Sapphire |
Not in good conscience... even were we down to our last two copper pieces to rub together, Sapphire would never agree to pass on the horrid thing to some unsuspecting adventurer or shopkeep :/
Could the ring be used for anything else though? Someone might be able to break it down to use in something else, or perhaps it could be sold to someone who knew it was cursed so they could spend the time to remove the curse and make money themselves by selling it on?
We could always melt it down and sell it for gold and precious jewel value!

Del has a super, secret plan for the nasty, crooked ring! >=)
And if we ever did find ourselves someplace with enough resources and coin on hand where we *could* sell it, Del would have no problem doing so, provided he could identify a perfectly rotten and corrupt witch-worshipper upon whom to offload it.

Though Nasrin would never conceive of such a plan, foisting it off as tribute to some Witch would be poetic and appropriate in her mind. :) If you asked her, "just bury the damned thing and be done with it..."
Elleross Oronar |
Just checking all of your moral compasses were working.
Prison has rubbed off a little more on Elleross than I suspected :)
Not sure what we can do with this ring now, can curses be removed from items?

Just a note:
I am getting ready to leave the Army after 20 years; I will be moving around a lot and may have limited access to the internet. My new job will require a lot of travel too, but not to super remote areas. I will let you know if I need to drop off for a while. I plan on keeping up with this game!

The tactician brain says, "Pop smoke, break contact and assault from covered approaches. As it is now, all we are doing is taking fires from a well concealed ambush while we mill about in the kill zone."

I'll post my level up soon, I'll be taking the spell mastery feat and iron will
Just got to choose spells.
Haste or fireball / lightning bolt not sure what to do. Haste would be very useful for the party I think
J can we purchase items here? I want some scrolls of knock and a cape of free will
Sapphire |
Massive apologies everyone, this thread vanished from my campaign tab and has only just been made visible again (thanks Paizo support!!)
Just catching up now and will post shortly :)
Sapphire |
I only saw that sketch for the first time this year, it was awesome!
Laughed just as much reading your post Del :D

Maybe think of him as Del's nuclear Corum deterrent as well as a potential sweet ride.
And hey, you can't blame an affable rogue for trying to recruit talent and build a morally ambiguous business organization.
Elleross Oronar |
My level up is updated in my stat block j.
Not that I'll need it....caught in a bad situation here, may get absolutely destroyed shortly.
Taken spell mastery feat, learned haste and spiked pit . Will add them to my spell book next time we rest.

Turns out I'm totally wrong and have been ruling this incorrectly for... more than a decade. Gah!
Friend: You can move through a square occupied by a friendly character, unless you are charging. When you move through a square occupied by a friendly character, that character doesn't provide you with cover.
Manny can have his stabby stab if he wants it!
