Aura of Purity: Diseases, inhaled poisons, and noxious gaseous effects (such as stinking cloud) are negated in a 10-foot aura around the witch for a number of minutes equal to her level. This duration does not need to be consecutive, but it must be spent in 1-minute increments. Effects caused by spells whose level is more than half the witch's class level are unaffected.
Arcana
Empowered magic: The magus can cast one spell per day as if it were modified by the Empower Spell feat. This does not increase the casting time or the level of the spell.
Hasted assault: The magus can expend 1 point from her arcane pool as a swift action to move more quickly. This functions as haste, but only targets the magus and lasts for a number of rounds equal to the magus’s Intelligence bonus.

Black blade
Sapphire found this black iron longsword after defeating a caryatid column carved in the likeness of Queen Betyrina. Since she first picked it up and felt something odd in it reacting to her, it has been slowly awakening. When the Dancing Hut shifted away from the Market Square, the blade burst in to full awareness. Its motives and purpose remain unknown as yet.

Alertness (Ex): While a magus is wielding his black blade, she gains the Alertness feat.

Black Blade Strike (Sp): As a free action, the magus can spend a point from the black blade’s arcane pool to grant the black blade a +1 bonus on damage rolls for 1 minute. For every four levels beyond 1st, this ability gives the black blade another +1 on damage rolls.

Telepathy (Su): While a magus is wielding or carrying her black blade, she can communicate telepathically with the blade in a language that the magus and the black blade share.

Unbreakable (Ex): As long as it has at least 1 point in its arcane pool, a black blade is immune to the broken condition. If broken, the black blade is unconscious and powerless until repaired. If destroyed, the black blade can be reforged 1 week later through a special ritual that costs 200 gp per magus level. The ritual takes 24 hours to complete.

Energy Attunement (Su): At 5th level, as a free action, a magus can spend a point of his black blade’s arcane pool to have it deal one of the following types of damage instead of weapon damage: cold, electricity, or fire. She can spend 2 points from the black blade’s arcane pool to deal sonic or force damage instead of weapon damage. This effect lasts until the start of the magus’s next turn.

Teleport Blade (Sp): As a standard action, a magus of 9th level or higher can expend an arcane point from his or his black blade’s arcane pool, and can call his black blade from as far as 1 mile away, causing it to instantaneously teleport to his hand.

Background

For many years, Kala grew up with just her father, on the shores of Katheer where they fished and he told her stories of the places he'd been and the battles he had fought. Keen for her to learn to protect herself, he ensured she spent her days swimming, running and learning to fight, all things she readily took to.

He never spoke of his northern campaigns though, there was always more wood to chop, or fish to smoke or any one of a dozen chores that needed doing the moment Kala asked after the subject. He always promised he would tell her more when she was old enough, that he had something important to show her, just not yet. He sadly never got the chance, passing away suddenly but seemingly peacefully in his sleep. Sapphire was going through his things when she came across a faded love letter, tucked inside a spellbook. The letter was full of romantic promises, yet spoke of terrible punishments should the Jadwega find out. That one tattered piece of paper changed her entire outlook, opening up the subject of who her parents really were.

Fascinated by the magical grimoire, she began learning an entirely new path, and previously unknown abilities seemed to unlock inside her, as if they had simply been waiting to be let out.

Left with more questions than answers, she decided to journey to the north, intent on seeing what she can find out about her parents, and hoping to find her true self along the way.

Working her way up the country, she recently found herself in the employ of a bad-tempered gnome as a caravan guard. The last thing she remembers is a shout of warning...

Personality
Called Sapphire for the hue of her skin and the ice in her eyes, she's taken to using it as her mercenary name, projecting the demeanor of a hardened veteran, when really she's only just set foot on the path. Whilst she readily warms to traveling companions, her social talents are less than polished, and she really prefers the company of her books or the singing of her blade as she practices.

Appearance
Tall and slender with very pale skin, she has piercing blue eyes but seldom meets anyone's gaze. Her shoulder length faded blonde hair is braided to keep it out of the way in a fight. Her clothes are practical, cloak over rough studded leather armor. The longsword at her side has a worn hilt, and when drawn she prefers a two-handed stance, eschewing the use of a shield or second weapon.
