I’d also get Rapid Shot if you can, more attacks is more attack rolls, which are almost always good for a character.Even with the penalty it’s great.
Also, at level 6 you could take improved precise shot, which allows you to completely ignore cover and concealment other than “total” and you can take it as a ranger 5 levels early (level 6 bonus feat!)
GM Mort
He didn't take archery combat style and went for two weapon fighting instead? Which disqualifies him for improved precise at 6,since it has to be taken as a bonus feat that ignores pre requisites.
Grenwold Houtvester
Ahh, oh well. Such is life!
Grenwold Houtvester
As soon as I had kids, I had an excuse to make all kinds of dumb jokes.
Is this bad guy dead?
Edit: Nm, doesn’t change my actions.
Grenwold Houtvester
Grenwold will be back in a few days (in game). I'll PM with Mort about my actions.
GM Mort
Sorry, I would RP with you but I needed to type out the loot list. Father Noelan may need the head of that bugbear anyway, he'll write it out in game.
Grenwold Houtvester
K, Grenwold is frozen in time, with his foot hovering in front of him, forever trying to leave the camp.
GM Mort
I don't have book 2 on my phone so there may be some transition period as I haven't DLed it to my phone yet.
GM Mort
Honestly it wasn't that bad. Call Terbius practice, in a completely nonlethal way.
Once I saw the way you guys handled Terbius I knew you could do the BBEG of this book.
GM Mort
I don't have book 2 on my phone at the moment. Besides you still have some Book 1 stuff unfinished, like Gristledown.
Grenwold Houtvester
Ahh, I can cut my expedition short to do Gristledown, if you want. Basically Grenwold has to get another animal companion.
Grenwold Houtvester
I'm trying to figure out what animals might be native to the Fangwood - I'll probably just get another megalocerous but who knows. Looking over forest (temperate) entries.
Are any other geographies immediately available?
GM Mort
Next book you're still in the forest. After that it gets a bit plainish/hilly.
And I'm writing a funeral so I need some time on it. Also need to plan for the Gristledown cut scene. I'm moving as fast as I can, I swear!
If you want to, head south of Trog caves and you can hit the Nesmian plains, with hills. If you head to the Darklands tunnel you can get an underground critter I suppose.
Hedran
OK, just to update everyone, I've PM'ed with Mort about this but I'm putting it in all of my games, so I figured I should put it here also.
I'm posting this in the games I play in
I wanted to explain my drop in posting rate.
Previously the majority of my posts happened while I was at work. I worked third shift at a treatment facility. I used the boards as a tool to help keep myself awake. I have recently left that job and am now looking for employment.
I'm trying to balance RL responsibilities with the games I'm in, but I no longer have eight hours that I'm sitting at the computer looking for something to do. Between the stress of RL and attempting to find a balance in schedule the quantity and quality of my posting rate has suffered.
I'm planning on staying in the games I'm presently in and I appreciate everyone's patience while I figure out how to make it work.
Ratel, good luck with your search man - RL does tend to get intrusive at times ;)
-----------------------------
Guys/Nigel, I would like to grab another pot of CLW and one of CMW from the Loot list - don't think there is anything else for me there, unless that spiked studded leather has a really nice enchant on it :D

Side episode. We were playing jade reagent when my sylvan sorcerer and her animal companion got killed by some ankhegs. And my party was like oooh, Kentucky Fried Roc. I’ll tell you it definitely pissed me off. Eventually I left the group, and that I would say was one of the reasons.
GM Mort
Nigel – later I need to know if you’re riding Fernir for Book 2, or leaving him as a large guard dog. Different dialogue will occur.

Well most SGs aren’t particularly impressed by magick loving cats like me and appreciate Conan the barbarian rage smash type.
GM Mort
Well I'll say that since under the NPCs are not supposed to RP for you, I'll leave you lot to RP the party's triumphant return =)
GM Mort
For promotions, NPCs in question cannot exceed the party's level, so their max level is 4.
GM Mort
Damn, you're supposed to start Book 2 at level 5. Sorry for late notice, everyone levels up to 5, so now Veld is eligible for a promotion.
Grenwold Houtvester
Very good! I also think I should carry a potion or two. And Gren would like the cloak of woodland creatures please!

this might be a record, twenty seven posts in game and twenty seven posts in discussion thread. So I will go read in game, I read the end of combat last night and the list of items. Is anyone claiming the +1 chain shirt? If not I will exchange it for the MW Chain shirt Ratel is wearing.

Apologies if sometimes Hedran does not RP much - I'm no good at playing the guy who is friendly to everyone, and even if I were, Hedran is not, so there's that :D
He will be there though.
Ratel Dier
@ Nigel, Noted, go ahead and put the MW shirt back in inventory, he will just swap them out.
I will get Ratel updated tonight, looking at his sheet already, Just realized what a waste "improved shield bash" was... I need to plan better...
Grenwold Houtvester
@Mort yeah, if the other people don’t seem to care if your character or companion dies, it can put a damper on your experience in the game forever. Also, I’ll just stick with woodland (temperate) creatures - easier to get a new one and come back.
Everyone should know I have Commune With Nature once per week. It is a pretty high level spell, so we should take advantage of it.
Grenwold is switching litany of sloth for another spell using his retraining ability at 5th level. Any requests?

Heighten on frostbite does nothing. There is no DC to it, so heightening it isn't very useful. You can always prepare level 1 spells in level 2 spell slots.
GM Mort
Actually Rhyna doesn't need to take craft wand since:
Under magic item crafting:
A spell prerequisite may be provided by a character who has prepared the spell (or who knows the spell, in the case of a sorcerer or bard), or through the use of a spell completion or spell trigger magic item or a spell-like ability that produces the desired spell effect. For each day that passes in the creation process, the creator must expend one spell completion item or one charge from a spell trigger item if either of those objects is used to supply a prerequisite.
Unlike brew potion:
Benefit: You can create a potion of any 3rd-level or lower spell that you know and that targets one or more creatures or objects.
Where it states you. Unless you want to craft 2 wands at a time.
So basically Aubrin can provide the inflict light wounds spells required to make an inflict light wounds wand. Rhyna does not need to have it on her spell list.

Yeah, Heighten Spell I can use in other instances... I am just taking it because it is a (strange?) pre-req for Preferred spell :P
GM Mort
Ah ok if it is a prerequisite then go ahead. I was just seeing the uses for both combined.
