I didn't get anything purchased. due to not taking the time to make a list, so my total is still at maximum.
OK, I'm headed to bed, I will be on for a bit in the morning, Mort if we get into combat please bot Ratel and Bear.
ok, ninja'd by Moert, had to post. the bacteria risk on 'sun brewed tea' is super-low.

Not surprised. My mom tells me not to drink water off the tap in Singapore, I do it anyway and nothing happens. I'd put it as one of those alarmist things.

I think the prayer beads are great, but outside our price range, even pooled. What might be better are pages and that level 1 runestone.
For pages: the level 2 pages are also probably outside of our price range, even with pooling. I’m learning divine favor anyway at 7, as it is only +1 until 6.
With that said, I can afford the breastplate and shield of faith with my share (if I trade in my old breastplate). With shield of faith known I can pass that out during/before fights. With the runestone I can do that more. The runestone is 2k if we can put that together. I can also extend some buffs, including shield of faith, with the rod. Currently, 8 minutes might be 2+ fights, and shield of faith scales again at 6 to +3. Does that sound good?
I also should put in an order for something special - though who knows when she’s coming back. I’ll need a headband of inspired wisdom by level 7 to get a bonus level 3 spell. Let me know if there are any objections.
This was the closest post to a 'buy' list that I could find for Geran.

Bought: +1 Breastplate - 1350
Page of Spell knowledge (Shield of Faith) - 1000
Runestone of Power (1) - 2000
Total 4350 - including 2k borrowed from Robert/Ratel (I think most was Robert)

That takes us to a total of 8841gp of trade goods and cash.
Given that (apart from me), fairly minimal purchases were made, that is nowhere near enough to cover us :-/
Now, the real question is, do people want to have made additional purchases, and/or how much was donated to the 'kit Gren out' fund?
GM Mort |
That was what I was trying to tell you guys earlier but you guys didn't seem to get it, or chose to ignore it.
Nigel Percival Cartwright |
Alright, so, after accounting for the abovementioned purchases (thanks Gren!), we still have 11933gp of 'credit' floating around.

Father Noelan might have a whole host of suggestions, but really player freedoms so he won't be saying too much.

About 15 minutes before I clock out. Tablet nearly has a full charge, so it's "not dead yet."

"Thank you very much."
"See you next Tuesday?"
"Right."

Sorry for my lack of knowledge: Monty Python.
I only know some parts of it, involving vorpal rabbits, the holy hand grenade and Brave Sir Robin.

Other items will be not reliably found so anyway if she fails to find them she could return compensation. The more problematic issue is what happens if the party is not in the cave on market day, having gone out exploring? It's like FedEx delivery! Or you could leave the payment with the refugees and collect later...

Looks like its someone else I'll need to tutor in arcane arts ^^
We'll need to give you lessons on how to aim spells first. Start with the templates, so you know how many bad guys you can catch.

I also caught up with my body combat session tonight, so I don't feel guilty about missing it in the morning. Tomorrow night I'm going out with my BF.

I got distracted stressing about work and never actually figured what stones to buy for Bear or posted in game.
I realize that the gnome can't "Make change" easisly so would it be to 'retcon' Ratel purchasing more stones and ordering a breastplate for Bear, Or would it be better to just purchase trade goods?
GM Mort |
Nigel has the trade goods stuff done in his own way, albeit I don't think the system was meant to be used that way, since the exact wording was that she has items below 500 gp. I don't think it was the module intent to let you turn everything into trade goods, but players will do what they will, and I don't really care to quibble that point.
I will tell you there's no magic mart bigger then the gnome all the way until you hit book 3, so do whatever you wish. It's also not my responsibility to provide a magic mart that wasn't in the mod ^^
To be frank about it, the smarter thing would be to only liquidate the amount of goods that you wanted to purchase items with, possibly the heavier items, and make use of the rest, instead of trying to find ways to interpret wording to liquidate everything, since the trade goods aren't really contributing to anything either.

hhhmmm, sorry folks, not trying to stir up a hornets nest. So Mort if you think it's ok, I will retcon a few purchases tonight at work. Basically ioun stones for Ratel and a few for bear. Is it ok if he orders a breastplate for bear?
GM Mort |
I also don't know how its possible to retcon it because Nigel likely did not keep any copies of the old loot sheet, so it's probably stuck the way it is.
Likely its too much trouble to reverse, but next time please pay more attention when I start telling you that the merchant has limited gps available for trade and emphasize on the barter thing.

Ok, not going to worry about the retcon. When we started talking to the gnome, I didn't put together a final purchase, so I didn't make any. I was just confused when we mentioned the possible purchase earlier. I think I have Ratel's items correct, if you want to double check please do.
GM Mort |
If you wanna retcon extra items, go get about it though. I don't want to check your maths, it eats the thoughts out of my head. Which is my usual complaint.
I'll just take your ioun stones as bought, and if you want to retcon a suit for bear, go ahead too.
GM Mort |
To me the whole thing sounded like:
GM: The merchant only has 2500 gp, anything else you barter
Party: Okay sure, we sell everything.
GM: I'm not sure how she's going to cough out the dosh
Party: We sell everything anyway!
(Promptly finds some legalese loophole to be able to do so)
GM: *throws paws up in exasperation and leaves party to go at it, except for giving a few sly jabs on certain items not being there*
Oh well.
Grenwold Houtvester |
I’m staying outta this, as my svirfneblin friend had treasure for me. :)
Nigel Percival Cartwright |
*shrugs*
This was part of the reason that I encouraged people to buy stuff.
When they didn't, I had to bend over backwards to find a way to make it possible *for* people to have actually liquidated practically everything into cash/cash-equivalents.
That said, Mort, you probably didn't help by telling people that they could get the Gnome to possibly bring targeted 'higher cost' items, as that just encourages people to hoard gold in preparation for that (after all, once you confirmed it, that was certainly my attitude, as well)...?
Of course, that said, what's done, is done.
GM Mort |
Ah OK, my bad for not realizing that when she offered to help you look for stuff that I was encouraging that. I thought that you could just liquidate after she actually brought the stuff.
You have what you have and remaining wealth in trade goods.
GM Mort |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
If you are riding him, please make your:
Fight with a Combat-Trained Mount: If you direct your war-trained mount to attack in battle, you can still make your own attack or attacks normally. This usage is a free action. - DC 10 ride check
As opposed to your handle animal check.
Because you're using ride to get it as a free action.
Or you can choose to use your handle animal check as a move action.
Staying in saddle - DC 5 ride check.
Dont forget your going across bush is DT. So you may not have sufficient move on bear. Since Cavall didn't have enough move to move and attack and Cavall moves faster then bear.
Grenwold Houtvester |
As Grenwold was designed specifically to ride an animal companion, he cackles secretly at not having to remember most of the handle animal nonsense. ^_^
BTW I'm playing Kingmaker for computer and IT'S SO GOOD AND PATHFINDER-Y.
GM Mort |
Yeah if you can auto make the checks, I won't really bother.
Forgot to roll for Father Noelan's handle animal in getting Cavall to chase her down.
handle animal v DC 12: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19
Its the neg levels else it'd auto pass.
GM Mort |
Nigel, don't forget your DC 5 ride check to guide with knees or you can't use your quarterstaff as it's a 2 handed weapon.
