Should you guys decide to poke around in the forest, I will adjust the difficulty of the random encounters since I know power-wise, your current party isn't that powerful(due to lower levels etc, equipment mismatch), and pretty much a motley crew.
Nigel Percival Cartwright |
Heh. I actually quite liked the interlude (and wouldn't mind the occasional one in the future, if it comes to that!).
However, psychologically, these people aren't adventurers; they aren't really willing to go off half-cocked, risking life and limb, unless it is in defence of hearth and home (like this was).
Grenwold Houtvester |
I don't know that Skinder would run off. She's probably scared to leave the caves. Ighiz has all the stone she needs in the cave, too. Dunno about the others!
I don't know if Terbius *could* help hollow out a new cave, but I figured it'd be worth a shot, since they summoned him for no reason otherwise. But I don't know if you can purposefully leave a trail as an elemental with earth glide.
GM Mort |
Medium earth elementals have burrow.
A creature with a burrow speed can tunnel through dirt, but not through rock unless the descriptive text says otherwise. Creatures cannot charge or run while burrowing. Most burrowing creatures do not leave behind tunnels other creatures can use (either because the material they tunnel through fills in behind them or because they do not actually dislocate any material when burrowing); see the individual creature descriptions for details.
We'll say Terbius can choose to leave a tunnel behind.

I need to figure out a way to get a reliable casting of "reduce animal" by or soon after level 7. Otherwise, Fenton becomes too big to manage.
Nigel Percival Cartwright |
@Gren: You don't *have* to let him get large...
Each animal companion has different starting sizes, speed, attacks, ability scores, and special qualities. All animal attacks are made using the creature’s full base attack bonus unless otherwise noted. Animal attacks add the animal’s Strength modifier to the damage roll, unless it is its only attack, in which case it adds 1-1/2 its Strength modifier. Some have special abilities, such as scent. As you gain levels, your animal companion improves as well, usually at 4th or 7th level, in addition to the standard bonuses noted on Table: Animal Companion Base Statistics. Instead of taking the listed benefit at 4th or 7th level, you can instead choose to increase the companion’s Dexterity and Constitution by 2.

Ratel - what did you cook for your friends? Go ahead and make me drool =D
GM Mort |
The mod is quite a bit of open spaces so don't worry too much about it. Anyway with airwalk(which will eventually pop up) , you can cut down on ground space taken.

I know, but you lose huge stat bumps, AC, two natural attacks, and powerful charge. Might as well swap it out for a digmaul instead of doing the alternate advancement.

*Shrugs*
Well, short of someone rolling a Druid, your best option is probably to cosy-up to our resident ranger, convince him to dedicate his one and only 3rd level spell slot (which he gets at 11th level) to Reduce Animal, and invest in a Rod of Extend, Lesser and a Pearl of Power (3rd), to ensure 24 hour coverage (from 11th level).
GM Mort |
Father Noelan is definitely not going to keep Cavall small. A few feats and airwalk should solve most issues.
GM Mort |
Good luck getting your party to leave you live bodies to talk to =P
Go non lethal their @sses if you want someone to talk to.
You see its a lot more maths to me if I have to roll stabilization checks on all the bad guys which is essentially pointless since you'd probably CDG/execute them anyway.
Just a Mort |
Did you know I have quickened sla (speak in rhyme)?
That means I can pretty much do it all the time!
Just a Mort |
I like limericks.
An epicure, dining at Crewe
Found quite a large mouse in his stew.
Said the waiter. “Don’t shout
And wave it about
Or the others will be wanting one too.

Tom wanted a vacation,
He started at the train station.
Trains to everywhere,
Journeys began there,
Not to his destination.

Ratel is due a post, Robert probably not until maybe 4 hours from now, optimistically.
Nigel would have posted some time back, but he has just gone to bed about 20 min ago.
Grenwold also had a login, but he has already taken his turn and is probably is at work now.
You know how I feel about botting two people =P
Just a Mort |
Anyway I've always been fairly decent at english literature, even if I feel it makes me a soapy sap =P
Grenwold Houtvester |
Good limerick! Yes I’m at work, and can’t post after 9:30 eastern usually.
Grenwold Houtvester |
Do Gren/Fenton/Ratel get AOOs when red stands up prior to his 5 foot step? If so, I’ll include the AOOs as my first attacks.
GM Mort |
Yellow was moving around bear, so no. Oh I forgot red was prone yeah ill skip on the standing up and 5ft step.
Sorry for confusion it was 4 am when I was posting.
GM Mort |
This is what I am talking about:
At 5th level and every five levels thereafter (10th, 15th, and 20th level), the ranger may select an additional favored enemy. In addition, at each such interval, the bonus against any one favored enemy (including the one just selected, if so desired) increases by +2.
Grenwold Houtvester |
That’s why favored enemy is great in a game like this!
I’m just excited to get outflank next level. :D
GM Mort |
I don't see why characters not under your control(aka Father Noelan and Cavall), would try to do non lethal, since they are basically going by party cues so as not to restrict player freedoms. So if you want them to non lethal peoples @sses you guys need to set an example first.
GM Mort |
You see the last time I allowed stabilization ,the party took several days to get about the public hanging, and Hedran even though indicating he wanted to interrogate, never followed up.
I hate lose ends dangling like that. That's why I rather the moment they hit 0,they gib, so hopefully if you took the effort to non lethal their @sses,you'll remember to follow up later.
Just a Mort |
I’ve been given a chance to go book at Housing Development Board for an appointment to book a flat in Kallang, and the appointment is this afternoon, so I may pop off radar while I deal with my flat booking.
I guess I should start planning who to invite over to my wedding, since once I get a flat, I’m going to get married.
Just a Mort |
Always good to plan early. I'm a firm believer of be prepared. I expected to get one table of friends but it looks more like two now.
I wouldn't bake my own cake since wedding cakes traditionally involve cream and I'm strictly of a no cream school. Also my cakes aren't the fancy sort but they're solid and will keep you full. Yes I can have two pieces of cake in replacement for lunch/dinner.
Grenwold Houtvester |
Yep! That’s why I knocked him out. I’ll wake him up, I guess. Would Noelan be willing to go back with Cavall together?
GM Mort |
Eh Father Noelan isn't that sneaky himself. +2 stealth modifier, Dex alone. But I suppose it could be done, then you can pick him up at Misthome later when you return.
GM Mort |
Pretty much that's the gist of it. NPCs are not supposed to do your job for you! Though you might have guessed he's a little chicken-livered after he watched the hobgoblins slaughter the Chenarsardo Rangers but did nothing.
GM Mort |
He might have prevented the slaughter had he shouted a warning, but chose to keep his sorry @ss safe up in the tree instead. Again if the fight went badly he wouldn't be alive to talk to the party now.

Grenwold sleeps in his spare studded leather! His AC in studded is 16-13-14.
