Bitha Sark |
She's simple and primitive and a bit ignorant. But she's loyal and not incapable of changing her viewpoints, however slowly, lol.
Narrator Prime |
I just dropped a wall of text into the game play thread. Sorry about that. Lots of information though.
You guys can have a post in response to all that. That's pretty much all she knows at this stage, though Val probably knows a little bit more.
The writ gives each of you 20% off the cost price of any item you want to purchase in town while you're exploring for Khonnir.
Also, I wanted to say you guys are going great with your characters. I love the andoroid emotionless states. They are perfectly counteracted by our barbarian's brash anger. Good stuff all round actually.
A note for the androids. Numeria is generally dangerous for Androids. the Technic league thinks you guys are their property, and will take you into slavery as soon as they find out what you are. Others are paranoid about them, and can be violent if they find out.
Just keep that in mind during the town parts of the adventure. Given that both our Androids are magic users, you can pass off any weird glowing effects etc as magic for now.
cheers
Alyna Dolette |
Alyna has been awoken for at least a few years, so she surely knows about the Technic League and their views on her kind. She can easily pass off her mannerisms as part of her faith to Brigh, as Brigh is still fairly unknown by many and has more secrets than what is already known. As for her circuitry-tattoos and slightly glowy eyes... well.. Divine Magic!
Also, talk of an Int-based summoner has inspired me to work on an android racial archetype. Tentatively being called either the neosummoner or nanotech summoner. When I finish it and post it on the homebrew section I'll let you all know.
Norman Guff |
I'm playing Norm as a sort of an open-minded fellow due to his close association with Khonnir. If he knows or learns what you are, expect him to keep the secret. He's way more curious about your condition - he has caught tech fever from Khonnir and would consider you a life form and not a tool :)
Zlota Argyr |
Yeah, Zlota will not be too forward about her race, and can write off her own markings and such as arcane lines that bind her eidolon to her. But if you gain her trust enough, she may tell you more. Though I'm sure Alyna would probably already know.
Alyna Dolette |
Yeah, Zlota will not be too forward about her race, and can write off her own markings and such as arcane lines that bind her eidolon to her. But if you gain her trust enough, she may tell you more.
Funny you should say that, as the archetype I'm working on has it so that when the eidolon is out, the markings constantly glow as if a candle (rather than a torch when nanite surge is activated).
Though I'm sure Alyna would probably already know.
Hehe, of course. Takes one to know one. *wink*
Narrator Prime |
Just to answer Bithas question in game terms. The priest of Brigh can cast water breathing on all of you. He uses a meta magic wand of extend to make it last 8 hours.
That's your window of operations on any one day. If you're delayed for any reason after that, then getting topside is going to be up to you.
That is something to consider if you do come across survivors, since their spells will have worn off by now.
Bitha Sark |
8 hours. That's a nice round number...getting survivors out will be tricky. Guess we need to investigate the pool thoroughly to see how long it takes us to get through, and then look for other exits, if we can find them.
Norman Guff |
Depending on the depth, a whole bunch of us could maybe Aid-Another swim the survivors up. Or go to town and convince the priest to come with us and bring his wand with him! I laughed at the second scenario...that conversation would be interesting.
Alyna Dolette |
Hey Zlota, just curious to the methodology behind your Androffan language. I was tempted to see if there was an 'alien language phrase generator' online somewhere.
Alyna Dolette |
Hrm, so what you said actually has meaning? Nifty. I shall use that as well, since we are the only 2 with Androffan as a language known.
BTW, I posted my first draft of that android summoner archetype. Here is the link.
Norman Guff |
Excellent work with the archtype 0 I'll eventually run this AP for my home game and if any of my players are interested in summoner I'll offer them your work as an option. AP's are great for house rulls - a departure from PFS strictness. :) My posting may be slower this weekend, wedding to attend but I'm sure I'll find a way ;) Keep it up all!
Should the need to arrise feel free to bot Norm. Lilly is loaded, and reloading all of my current ammunition takes a move action(Rapid Reload, paper Cartridge, 2-handed Weapon). He carries a few adamantine shells, and silver. One never knows. He has MW lockpicks and a black 'techpick' for tech-locks. For non-magical traps and locks he has a +11(locks) and for tech-locks he has a +10. For non lock based picking his skill is 9. Cheers!
Alyna Dolette |
Please let me know how it works. I love constructive criticism. I'm still trying to think of a good capstone replacement. maybe being able to have your eidolon and take over a robot at the same time?
So... you have +9 for picking your nose?
Norman Guff |
Haha I meant non-lock Disabling of Devices he has a 9. Norm uses stealth before any nose picking. I also added a brief guide on my sheet as to where I'm going level by level up to 5, just to keep me on track. From there I'm considering a monk 2 level dip to gain Dodge and Mobility which are pre-requisites for a feat that allows me to reload/fire/threaten in melee with firearms at level 7. I have a lot of thinking to do.l At level 3 I'll be able to reload 2-handed firearms as if they were one-handed (Free Action reloads with 2 handed firearms as long as I use paper cartridges.) Decisions decisions
*My thinking being that once I can fire and reload without provoking in melee I can help Flank with our mighty Barbarian and Eidolon. :)
*2 Levels of Monk let me add my +2 Wisdom Mod to my ac and remove my heavy leather armor. Norm is close to Light Load and this helps. A ways away though.(7th level for all of it to 'come online')
Norman Guff |
the other picture of Norm was looking at me funny.
Narrator Prime |
I like the way you guys approached this scene. It's refreshing to see people not play the rush and kill group.
I can assure you that it was only a series of unfortunate circumstances that led to it attacking Bitha, but that is probably enough for it to trigger Norms ready action I feel.
The group is currently Bitha in combat. The other three arranged beside each other at the back of the lounge room. I assume the Eidolon is shielding you a bit by standing to the front of that group.
The roof is 8 feet high, enough for the Eidolon to climb the walls and attack beside Bitha if it is capable of climbing.
When this is complete, I'll explain its actions here so you can understand what happened and also give feedback. I really like to keep my DMing process open in games like this. It helps build trust and also gives all of us a forum to exchange ideas on GMing style and learn from each other.
Plus, I've been known to make mistakes:(
Cheers
Narrator Prime |
For Alyna and Zlota
I like to give players a chance to add flavour to the game world where necessary. Feel free to create for yourself one contact. A name and general trade is reasonable at this stage. Background if you want.
Of course, you can also choose to have no idea that Androids exist here either. Your call completely.
Norman Guff |
Everything's good with me. Norm's triggered action went off for sure. He's no techno-hippie and will gladly break the thing, imagining it can be repaired later.
Alyna Dolette |
For Alyna and Zlota
** spoiler omitted **
Elethori Madiir, NG female android adept 3
Str 10, Dex 10, Con 12, Int 11, Wis 13, Cha 9
Spells Prepared
Cantrips - create water, mending, purify food and water
1st - endure elements (2)
Feats: Scribe Scroll, Skill Focus (Knowledge-Religion)
Skills: Craft (mechanical) +6, Knowledge (Religion) +9
Familiar: Piper (petromin / +3 Stealth)
Originally from Alkenstar, Elethori was tasked by the head priest of the temple there to aid Joram Kyte two years ago. Elithori found her familiar, a strange fur-covered gliding creature called an azure glider, on her pilgrimage to Torch. She enjoys the sapphire-blue coloration of its bioluminescence, as it matches the colors of her own circuitry-tattoos.
Elethori and Alyna knew each other at the temple in Alkenstar. As Alyna left Alkenstar before Elethori did, she has no idea Elethori is in Torch.
Narrator Prime |
Ok, now that combat is finished, I'll explain what happened there.
I'll spoiler it for those who don't want to know for whatever reasons.
When norm primed his rifle, it had enough low tech value that the thing scanned him. It picked up his black lock picks(tech lock picks I believe) and gun itself and decided it needed to do some repairs on the gun.
Bitha was in the road, so it tried to move her. But it was broken and things weren't going well at all.
I left it open for possible capture of the thing, but it was going to be really difficult. The module itself doesn't seem to leave any option open at all except to destroy it. I was thinking some kind of spell to grease it or maybe even tackling and binding it could have worked.
You guys approached it well. Everyone acted perfectly in character, and its response followed what I believe were the intentions of the book perfectly. Pretty fun little first encounter with robots I think.
Oh, and Alyna, thanks. That works nicely.
Cheers
Norman Guff |
Yes. It means for us to break the poor thing I think. Good job all! :) Lilly is on a hot streak - let me go deduct 12gp worth of Ammo from my sheet. (worth it!) Norm isn't much older than Val and has all sorts of human mixed feels for her. We'll see how it goes. She's Khonnir's daughter and a feisty young Kellid near Norm's age who he happens to see regularly at the Foundry. Ahhhh the humanity.)
Norman Guff |
Aid Another is my face skill! :P If I may, since we're working with limited social resources, we can all just attemp to Aid Bitha's Intimidates via Aid Another. I think the DC is 10 for a stacking +2 to Bitha's roll.. We can build off of some sort of 'pack mentality' intimidation this way. Any other suggestions for social situations? :)
Norman Guff |
Hehe Norm lacks people skills. He's not unattractive, just offputting and gruff. Imagine the people who move to remote parts of, say, Alaska? I imagine Numeria has that same 'far from civilization' feel, kind of removed from the politic'ing of the Inner Sea's shining cities. A kind of place a man can go and be alone and live free. He had no idea of the technic league and their plots etc. :) Hope that clears up Norms lack of people skills.
Alyna Dolette |
Alyna has no people skills, she's just a really pretty android... lol.
Also, I ALWAYS forget about Aid Another, whether I'm DMing or playing.
Narrator Prime |
I wrote that last one from Zlota's perspective more as a touch of humour than anything else. Hope you don't mind.
I am assuming you're off to the top of the hill next, so I'll do an update tomorrow based on that information.
It would be worth thinking about what supplies you might need to pick up for this trip now you know more about it too. Especially anything that's going to help with waterproofing fragile items. Lighting is also something to consider.
I'm not going to write up a session on the shopping, so we'll assume that all happens in the daytime while you're running about getting sorted to go. Just update your character sheets as needed.
Norm, your ammunition in particular is something to consider.
Cheers
Norman Guff |
http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/ultimateCombat/spells/airBubble.html#air -bubble
If this is the spell the priest is going to cast I going to have him cast it on my masterwork backpack full of ammunition as well as on Lilly. I'll also purchase 2 Scrolls of the level 1 spell for 40gp (after discount) in case we stay down too long. It's Cleric 1 so our good cleric could activate 'em for me :) In the spell description it seems to suggest It can be cast on items and containers.
Narrator Prime |
The priest is casting water breathing, not air bubble. Water breathing has a much longer duration for him.
There are oiled satchels and water proof scroll cases you can use as well. Might be cheaper for ammo to get scroll cases. Assume a scroll case can hold 20 cartridges.
The gun might need the scroll though.
Cheers
Bitha Sark |
Bitha will pick up three waterproof bags, for a gold and a half total, and stuff her NIN pointy belongings in there.
Norman Guff |
I'll grab two waterproof bags and keep the scrolls for the gun.-1g
Alyna Dolette |
So, since a waterproof bag protects items in it for 10 rounds (1 minute), how long would something be liquid-free if it was inside a waterproof bag INSIDE ANOTHER waterproof bag. Unless an oiled satchel lasts longer, hrm.
And heck, to protect anything small-ish, I'd probably go with an empty waterskin (if it keeps water in, it can keep water out).
I suppose I'll grab a waterproof bag for my spell component pouch and holy text. She doesn't have anything else that needs to be water free.
Or, I can just leave the holy text with the church, plus the armored coat. Would bump her land speed back up to 30, drop her AC by 1, but might make it worth it.
I'll still grab some waterproof bags though. So, 2 waterproof bags, 1g total. Down to 9g.
Narrator Prime |
A note on purchasing in Torch.
Base value = 2,400 so nothing can be bought over that cost unless it comes up in rolled gear.
Purchase limit = 5,000. That shouldn't be a limit for this adventure at least.
Spellcasting = 3rd level. So you can assume divine cleric spells and arcane wizard spells of this level can be found for casting on you either in scroll form or from casters themselves.
There are places in town that have specific items you can pick up, but please don't read ahead for those if you have the books. The temple will make theirs freely available. Other sites need to be researched or wooed into selling them.
For the next week, there are other items for sale in the market as follows.
Potion - 1st level - cure light
Wondrous item - Cloak of elven kind
Potion - 1st level - protection from evil
Armour - Dragonhide Plate (3,200 before discount)
Potion - 2nd level - redist energy (3rd level caster)
Scroll - 2nd level - Hideous laughter (3rd level caster)
Potion - 2nd level - Cure moderate wounds (3rd level caster)
Weapon - +3 Warhammer (18 150 before discount)
Narrator Prime |
Heya all, can I ask that if you ready actions for attacks, can you include the roll in your post. It may not get used if the action doesn't go off, but it makes it easier for me to type results of a round if I know what happens from your side of things.
Also, excellent point about saves Alyna. I'll post what the saves are against from now on, plus the DC and spoiler the effects if you fail.
Example
Fot save vs DC11. Exposure to tainted water (not poison effect)
That way you can also respond in your posts much easier.
Cheers all.
PS This is going pretty well so far. Probably the least role-play intensive start to an AP that I've seen Paizo produce so far. The good thing about that is it lets us get into the action very rapidly. I'm liking it.
Any feedback from you guys?
Bitha Sark |
Makes sense on the readied action rolls. I didn't think about that earlier.
I think the game's going fine so far!
Norman Guff |
I like it. Right into the thick of things is a tip that this is a tough AP, which I look forward to. I imagine the heavier RP will happen once we prove our worth by saving Khonnir and turning on the Flame, gods willing! I read the players guide pretty extensively, there are a few really cool places in town we can check out.
Keep up the good work.
Narrator Prime |
Just been through the character sheets checking out gear. Lucky Bitha brought rope along hehe.
A note on xp, I'm tracking it for you guys and will let you know when to level up. I run level up different ways for different groups. Given the time delays for PbP, I recommend level up be instantaneous when sufficient xp is reached. If you prefer, we can wait till tie to rest is available though. Up to you 4
Alyna Dolette |
Instantaneous is nice, but I think after resting while we catch our breath might be more thematic. So.. I'm fine either way.
It's totally up to you though.
Alyna Dolette |
I just noticed that the Artifice Domain gives me mending at-will. Since mending is one of the spells I selected for a prepared orison, I will change it next time she is able to select her spells for the day.
Also, I was thinking about the difficulty of this AP. If any of our PC's die, what are guidelines for replacement? Do we roll a new character, or do you recruit a new player? A TPK would be another thing to consider.
I think that if we were to have a TPK, it would be interesting for each of us to roll new characters in a different role than the previous character.
