First Seeker Luwazi Elsebo's voice rings out with more news of hope on each of your comm devices. ”Starfinders have penetrated the defenses of an ancient automated city on Callion-2. They discovered that a group of Starfinders visited the city a year ago, trying to find a way to help other Starfinders stuck on the desert planet of Callion-1. We’ll begin moving resources to Callion-1 immediately.”

City of the Ancients is now closed and Sands of Oblivion is now open.

Historia-7 nods as you report once again in for duty. “Greetings, Starfinders. Our initial recon teams found dozens of our colleagues held in stasis on Agillae-5. Forcibly removing their bodies from the stasis pods would leave their minds are trapped in a virtual world, which means we’re sending you in to release them. Our specialists have put together a digital tether that allows you to enter the virtual world without getting trapped like your colleagues did. Still, you must careful. Even though nothing that happens in there is real, dying in the simulation might kill you.”

A team of Starfinder computer specialists waits at the facility. The lead specialist approaches you. ”Everything is ready. All you have to do is plug in.” he grabs your shoulder. ”Good luck.”

However, it was my understanding that the Scoured Stars region had had relatively little contact with the Society prior to the Incident."

As Sev approaches, he sees five scholarly Starfinders — an android, a damaya lashunta, a kasatha, and two shirrens — engage in a heated debate about Golarion. "Clearly it's the most diverse ecosystem," the android insists. He pauses in the debate only long enough to gesture to Sev to join their circle, patting a seat on the steps next to him. "Welcome, fellow scholar. We were discussing interplanetary politics, economics and alliances."

In front of them is a rather detailed chalk drawing on the sidewalk before the steps. Disconcertedly, the images in the chalk drawing are moving. It shows the Pact Worlds system -- the worlds and all their satellites -- including, oddly, Golarian. The planets are rotating, their satellites spinning around them.

"Most politically and culturally diverse, I'll grant you. So many of the gods arose from there." One of the Shirren points to Castrovel. "But most ecologically diverse? Have you been to Castrovel?"

The lashunta looks thoughtful. "There's something special about Golarian, though. It's the most important world in our system. An economic powerhouse, a center for the arts..."

The Kasatha snorts. "Overrated, if you ask me. Where's Golarian's respect for tradition?"

Ivok holds himself with some pride thinking of his home but quickly adds, "The Starfinders are themselves a widely diverse group, drawn from across the galaxy and they drew their own inspiration from a group on that world."

Gesturing to the chalk drawing, Ivok waves at it and turns his attention to the scholars.

” And beyond the pact world, we have…”

With a flap of his hands, the drawing of the Pact Worlds reduces, and Antoine create drawings of the Veskerium and all the other systems and planet he and his fixer knows about. He even sff the scoured stars system.

” And we must not forget that universe is not limited to the material plane…”

As the group discusses current events with the scholars, they try multiple ways to shake the scholars out their delusion of a current and active Golarian. Ivok reminds them of the whole empire of the Veskarium, and mentions that Golarian has gone missing. Neon Ten discusses current Starfinders, reminding them about the society. Sev gets technical, discussing details of the Gap. Al focuses on Castrovel, solidifying their grip on reality. Antoine starts manipulating the chalk drawing, and discovers that Golarian starts disappearing — replaced by a growing Absalom Station. Then Antoine and Neon work together, shaking the scholars further with the memories of other planes of existence.

With all this data, all the Starfinders seem shaken out of their complacency. The android scholar appears perplexed. “What is this feeling that I am experiencing? Learn to fix it, and learn the rules
Sometimes you bend and sometimes you stand
Sometimes you polish your ride with your hands
There's no world out beyond that door
There's no need to go off and explore
Where friends are loud and the beer does pour
Take pride in your ride - you need no more

There's time to laugh and time to wait
Make our bikes the best to date
There's so much time left today

Five Starfinders—a human, two lashuntas, an ysoki, and a vesk—wear leather jackets and protective clothing. They tune-up expensive-looking enercycles. "So... I've been thinking that what I really want to do is soup up this bike's burrow speed, add a few null space storage pods, and racing stripes," The vesk enthuses.

The ysoki pulls some more tools out of his cheek pouches as he clambers under his bike. "Racing stripes? Naw, man. Go with a full out flame design. I swear, it makes the enercycle faster."

The others laugh. "Wouldn't that be nice if all it took to go fast was a sweet paint job?" The lashunta grins. "Still... Pride in your Ride, right!"

"Pride in your Ride! Pride in your Ride! PRI-I-I-IDE IN YOUR RI-I-I-I-IDE!" They all chant and shout, pumping fists in the air. None of them seem to be in any hurry to actually go anywhere. There are half-drunk beers, and tools strewn all over the place, while they go on and on about how great the bikes are.

Additional Checks to make it easier to shake them out of their obsessions: You can attempt an Engineering or Piloting check to point out weird flaws in the virtual bikes’ design. Don't forget Diplomacy, Bluff or Intimidate!

"Pardon me." Sev interjects, pointing at the ysoki's bike,"However, the current design configuration of your enercycle is flawed, unless, by 'full flame design' you meant, 'high-temperature ignition of propellant fuel resulting in catastrophic conflagration."

Piloting (Aid): 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (1) + 13 = 14

"Likewise," he comments to the vesk, "the addition of null storage pods on your 'Ride' would result in an imbalance on the gyroscope, causing a containment failure within the fuel storage tank. Accordingly, a 'souping up' of your bike's burrow speed would inevitably result in you receiving 'soup on' your choice leather garments."

Recalling the recent mission to the dinosaur planet, Sev adds, "If there is one thing of which I have recently been made aware, it is that poor structural design can result in one getting covered in 'soup'."

The android's trainee shadows continues to quietly shadow him.
I forgot about the field trainee boon, so I can attempt an aid on social skills at +3, if someone thinks it helpful.

Neon Ten nods along as Sev+ explains the flaws in the design. He then expands on what Sev+ said.

"You would have all sorts of problems with getting enough oxygen into the system as well. I suppose you could add some LOX tanks, but at that point you might as well put in a full life support system for the rider."

He cocks his head to the side and twitches his whiskers. "With a full life support system, perhaps you could even afford to use more powerful propulsion. Something to really make it fly!"

Antoine gets out his camera and takes photos of the vehicles.

"I'm a Starfinder?" The vesk looks down at the tools that he's been holding, and puts them down. "I'm.... Silask."

DC 20 Culture:

Silask was a famous explorer and warrior in the Society. He gave classes at the Lorespire on close combat techniques and wilderness survival, and even hosted a video log. His fan club mourned him for months.

"What have I been doing?" He looks around, puzzled, as the other Starfinders start to put down their tools, then a realization hits him. "Oh, CRAP! How long have we been down here?"

"Well, however long it was, I learned how to build stuff and tinker with equipment in this 'Place'. Let me share a few tips with ya."

He shares a secret technique that allows all of you to change what type of damage their weapons deal as though they had a corrosive, flaming, frost, or shock weapon fusion (each PC can choose one of the listed fusions).

Six Starfinders — a dwarf, two kasathas, two humans, and a shirren — enjoy a picnic in a park that looks about as realistic as a children's cartoon from Absalom Station's children's network. There's happy singing flowers, and little birds that chirp winsomely. The Starfinders are all wearing lacy fashionable clothes as they lounge about on the grass. They have a picnic basket filled with sandwiches, crackers, fruit and an old fashioned tea pot.

The group marvels at the beauty of the natural world. “Ain’t it great to be outdoors, smell the flowers, feel the wind and sun on your face?”
