Ok, it looks like I got weekly activities for the Ravens. :)

Anybody want to wrap up Hortense's offer?

I intend to recap later tonight.

Questions?

Game on!

Laughed out loud. Well played, sir.

What gives? Hortense has a load of guilt too, how about pushing her in Vandomir's direction! He likes the "can handle herself in a barfight" sort of females we've been running into lately! Oh, and Vandomir shouldn't be the POC for the Torrent Team. If he's gonna bed that wench, he can't very well be her supervisor, right?

Female Human Inquisitor(Infiltrator)/10

Noravia will take the Torrent team. They're infiltrators after all :) She just never gave actions for Hortense's offer because I wasn't sure if the Ravens were going to usher her out the door ;)

Let's assume you are there when Hortense confesses her guilt and Vandomir's base thoughts are about 'comforting her'. :)

Caleb looked at Eirik admiringly 'well reasoned. No need for a sting if they know this much'. "We need everything we can get. Your connection to Milani is crucial, but you should know that I am a Miracle of Callistria. The Wasp and the Rose aren't exactly allies, but they aren't enemies either. Are we going to have trouble?"

Noravia answered Caleb the best she could, "That depends on your definition of trouble, I guess. If you mean from a divine standpoint then no - you and Rowan never clashed and we follow the same tenets. However, that doesn't mean that I wouldn't speak my mind if I disagree with something you say."

Female Human Inquisitor(Infiltrator)/10

Noravia remained with the others as Hortense arrived. The inquisitor assumed that the fact that she wasn’t asked to leave meant that her aid had been accepted. When it was revealed that the woman standing before them initiated the events leading to Rowan’s death, Noravia was going to interject and repeat what she had previously told Tillia about Rowan's sacrifice. She was pleasantly surprised to hear Vandomir voice the same sentiment. Rowan has taught him well.

Hortense wrote:

After a couple of 'yes, sir' and 'understood, sir', Hortense explained, "We can certainly bash heads around. That's for sure. But we are also trained in rescuing people from perilous situations."

She blushed as she realized that this was what just occurred to them. "We can also make sure that things are... quiet out in the streets, sir."

Noravia was intrigued by Hortense’s revelation that her unit was good at rescuing people from difficult places. ”What kind of skills does your unit have that make you adept at rescuing people? Maybe we can work together and I can teach you a few things to improve your unit's success. If that’s ok with the others, of course.”

Here now, this is nothing new, Vandomir has been sizing up chicks in just about every encounter he has had with them. At least the encounters where they were remotely approachable. That strix girl was never a consideration.

Sometime later con't.

Tillia didn't even bat an eye about the battle but she did take a large swallow only to set it down quickly a sputter while she gagged a bit. She looked at Caleb and asked in a horse voice, "What is this stuff?" Despite her surprise she took yet another swig of the stuff before setting the jug down again.

"Terrible, isn't it" said Caleb with admiration. "They tend to keep it in the waiting rooms at the br... dancing houses. I think someone makes it in a bathtub out of old socks." he winks broadly, taking a glass himself. "Actually, it comes from 'Devil's Woods'. Some sort of cider, I believe. Cheers!"

Amusingly the liquor seemed to open her up a bit even though she didn't drink any more of it. She sat there and looked at Caleb a moment before she said, "Why don't we just skip this stuff and you take me somewhere for a, how'd you say that, lay? Then, once you're done with me you can guilt Eirik into giving me one too." Her tone was still monotone as she spoke but she continued to speak and said, "I need to feel something Caleb, all I feel nothing and I need to feel something." Her expression became rather desperate as she said, "Please Caleb, make me feel something."

do we have to fade to black? I was planning a Callistrian recruitment speech 'n all.

Action 1
"Look, this is good news. If we can find her, we can mess with her information. Or..." he considers "We remove her. I like that one."

Action 2
Caleb smiled at the half-elf's debonair attitude.
"Bow in a play, that's the phrase that calls for some brave hero to declare they cannot be dictated to, and ends with someone dead and potential allies at odds. I'm assuming you believe you have some way to enforce that demand?"
He waves a hand "But if you're here, now, with a speech like that - should I assume we have mutual friends?"

I guess the merchant shipper who we bought information from hasn’t yet returned?

Action 1

Caleb wrote:

Eirik nodded his head in agreement. Though it was somewhat surprising the Paracount had resorted to as circumspect approach as spying… from what they had seen of the man’s tactics, Eirik would have assumed he’d just start arresting people at random and torturing them for information they might or might not possess. But perhaps the man had another side to him. Or simple had decided to listen to an advisor’s suggestion.

Action 2

Caleb wrote:
He waves a hand "But if you're here, now, with a speech like that - should I assume we have mutual friends?"

Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22 Close, but not close enough…

Frowning, Eirik considered their guest with some suspicion. An officer of a Chelish, seeking audience with them on behalf of her Captain? Could there be a rift in the military over the current regional manager? Or was this an attempt to lead them away to an ambush, to avoid unnecessary losses by not assaulting their base of operations? Eirik would have doubted that, but then again, they had only just heard of the spy supposedly tasked to root out their secrets. If the Paracount had agreed to that approach in favor of brute force, why not another?

Then again, one arm of Chelish armed forced had already pledged their support to their cause, small group as it might be. So was it so hard to believe there might be another officer unhappy with the current situation?

Thought about naming the fellow… let’s spin the random generator for a name… Asami Bertrand was the winner. Will write some fluff about her and her team, eventually, once I’m bored and in the mood for writing ;^)

Remove the Wisdom headband from the loot list, Fabian – Eirik stole it already, since no-one else was interested ;^) Though I think I’ll give it back to Shari after a little time of her new character winning out trust.

She was not cowed by Caleb's insinuation of violence and snickered, "Captain Sargaeta is impressed with you, and merely wants to ask for your aid in a delicate matter. It’s not often the Captain displays this amount of respect. I suggest you come with me, if only to marvel at a sight few people ever see—my Captain’s restraint.”

no need to fade to black, just keep your roleplaying such that it doesn't affect 'current' roleplaying.

Action 1

Vandomir nodded, "is there a team we should assign to tracking her down, and possibly eliminating her if needed?"

Action 2

Vandomir refrained from showing his annoyance at the way the request was made. "Form fitting armor. Interesting tattoos. Not a huge fan of the ears though," thought Vandomir before speaking,"compulsory means different things to different people. I propose that we interpret it as meaning we have been pleasantly invited, and that we choose to accept that invitation?"

Female Human Inquisitor(Infiltrator)/10

Action 1:

Noravia added, "Why don't you have them spread a rumor that you're setting up a safehouse in a location of your choosing and then have a team either capture or eliminate this woman should she come sniffing around? You could use a location you know is abandoned and possibly have been seen around by people. Maybe the place where the Red Jills used to hole up? I think you guys should test your ability to spread misinformation and make Thrune's hired woman come to you.

Action 2:

sense motive: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24 So close!

Noravia thought that the woman's choice of words seemed odd but she couldn't put her finger on why it made her feel like she was missing something.

She watched closely how the others interacted with the newcomer. It was a good opportunity to learn more about each of those who she would be trusting her life with. "With such a prestigious invitation from Captain Sargaeta, it would be impolite to decline. However, the current climate in Kintargo can dissuade someone from blindly following a stranger without more information."

Action 1
"It could also be that we turn her to our side, a more preferable outcome than just killing her I think." Tillia thought over the issue and continued, "For now it seems that Sasha's team would be ideal to spread misinformation and should be sent for exactly that until we're ready to deal with this spy one way or another."

Action 2
Tillia considered the new arrival's demand and thought the offer through. If she was an enemy then they were as good as dead, if she was an ally though this could be interesting. She knew where to find the group and knew roughly whom she was speaking to. The mage smiled slightly and said, "I believe she's not yet an enemy of us and it would be wise to accompany her as she could easily turn us into Thrune if her captain was displeased with our reply. That said it would be unwise for us all to go into this situation, after all, even if a few of us are taken out the rest can carry on."

The elven gunslinger shook her head, "What's there to know? I found you easily enough. My captain is well informed, which is the reason why he's seeking you out."

He shrugged, "But I'm not the begging kind and I'm not gonna hang around here until you all make up your mind. The c'tain said to seek all of you and I'm leaving here shortly."

The mention that the captain was still on the ship and sent someone who seemed to be a native caused a few bells to ring and Tillia said, "Your captain isn't from here and didn't wish to risk death by squassation or I assume or he would have come himself." She looked at the others and said, "I think we should meet with this captain, if the rest of you would rather not go along or would prefer to remain on the dock I'll go myself to meet with him." Her expression was thoughtful and she continued, "There might be something worthwhile to come from this and I suspect we won't have the opportunity again."

I'll bet something posted later after I get home this evening but I managed to speak with Caleb over what would have happened between them and suffice it to say it changed a lot about how Tillia would have been acting. Rather than undo my previous posts what she's already said during the last couple of recaps would have had no emotion behind it, simply analytical and wooden sounding. So she's functional but it's like her emotions are shut off right now.

Yes, Vandomir took the breastplate, and swapped it out for his more generic, but still magical, one. Noravia can have the CLW wand.

Action 2

Vandomir considered his response, "My travels have not been very extensive. Business has not had a need for me to ever go abroad. With that said, my exposure to culture and wine has been extensive. I enjoy the opera, having seen virtually every new production for the last several years and great wine is part of the experience. What is your favorite play, if I may ask?"

Action 3

"At its root, your question is easy to answer," Vandomir began, "we would gladly aid a thankful Captain, provided the Captain's goals synergized with our own, or at the very least did not conflict with our own endeavors. It would be imprudent of us to blindly offer our assistance without knowing anything more regarding your request." He took a sip from the cup of drink he had been given. He tried to force himself from grimacing at the taste of the swill. "How do they drink this horrible stuff" he wondered. "Hmmmm," he mused out loud, "an interesting vintage." "Last Wednesday's pressing I wager," he thought to himself. "Please tell us what you need, and then we can give a more informed decision."

Female Human Inquisitor(Infiltrator)/10

Action 2:

Noravia was intrigued that Elia seemed genuinely interested in finding out more about them. It would have been so much easier to just lead them in stoney silence back to her ship. The inquisitor had decided early in her change of faith to speak freely about her past. It made things a little easier if she spoke truthfully now when it was eventually revealed that she had been trained to lie.

Falling in step beside Elia, she shared, "I'm originally from Isger and not Kintargo so I've traveled a small amount. Definitely not as much as you yourself have traveled. Being aboard a ship as your profession must mean you have seen many places. Where is your favorite place that you have visited?"

Action 3:

Noravia had to bite the inside of her cheek to keep from laughing out loud when she saw the monkey dressed in a sailor's suit. I wonder if the captain realizes that it's a monkey and not people? He definitely seems to like having small things around - the halflings, the small monkey...maybe it makes him feel like a giant. To keep herself focused on the task at hand, she studied the captain as he appraised the lot of them. Once he spoke, she tried to determine the motivations behind his words.

She turned to Noravia, "You know what? I've been all along the coast but I think I like it best when I'm out in the open sea. Or chasing a pirate ship." She paused for a second, "I guess the jungles down south. Those are real pretty. The captain keeps a couple of pets from there."

Eirik glanced at their guide, curious at her approach. 'Honest interest, or an attempt to fish for something to hook us from later on?' he wondered, yet again, the elf already knew too much for comfort. As long as he didn't say anything to implicate others within the Paracount's reach...

"Opera seems an acquired taste, to which I haven't been subjected often enough to properly appreciate," Eirik said, glancing at Caleb and Vandomir, recalling his one venture into the Opera house. While the grand stage had been most impressing, the play itself had left him cold. "Given a choice, I'd enjoy the nature's own orchestra at its finest." Having been brought up in a monastery in the countryside, there had been ample opportunities to watch the sunrise and listen to the birds' joyous songs that greeted the new day. Compared to that, what could some screeching windbag of an opera performer offer?

As to his taste in wine... he had taught himself to tolerate the stuff with a level face, but alcohol really had no place for one walking the Path of Perfection, outside the follies of youth. Concentration and mastery of the self was all - to intentionally drink something that encouraged one to lose control...

If the Paracount would not make an exception in his own proclamations for his own military officers, Eirik didn't rate high the chances of rank preventing him from arresting a rumored dissident.

After all that she had said it was obvious the young mage wasn't her usual self still, she was talking but her voice was un-emotional and analytical. After what she'd already said the young woman seemed to shut down and said nothing more.

Action 2
On the way to the harbor Tillia seemed to withdraw into herself further, the only hopeful sign was her attention to Salina on the way to the ship. She pet the tiny thrush even if her heart wasn't in it and the bird seemed almost relieved at her Mistress' turn in mood. She simply ignored any attempt by their guide to speak with her unless it was absolutely necessary to reply and simply followed along.

Action 3
As they met the captain Tillia returned his appraising look with her somewhat wooden one and didn't react when he made his comment about expecting them to be bigger and so on. She couldn't help but wonder if he was really that dense or that genuine. Under normal circumstances she'd find the captain quite handsome but just now she didn't feel it though she knew she should. When the pineapple was offered she nodded acceptance and took a bite of the succulent fruit.

The whole time they sat there Salina looked around at the other birds in curiosity and the monkey with trepidation. She stayed on Tillia's shoulder close to her hair for protection from the strange creature.

Captain Sargaeta smiled as he described his task, "Since I know you do covert work, that is the task I have in mind. I need you to deliver a letter to a friend of mine. To Marquel Aulorian, scion of one of Kintargo’s older noble families."

The captain sips his tea and continued, "The Marquel's father is a grasping little prig currying favor with the new leadership in a most unseemly manner. Once the message is delivered, you are to come back to me and deliver the Marquel's reply—verbatim."

He cocks his head, "In return, I promise my friendship and support, as best as I can give it. What do you say?"

OOC:
Any characters who succeeds at a DC 10 Knowledge (nobility) check knows that the Aulorians made their name in Kintargo through the salt and silver trades. If the result of this check exceeds DC 15, the character also knows that the Aulorians have long supported Kintargo, but with Barzillai Thrune’s arrival, the family patriarch Auxis has grown increasingly supportive of Thrune, abandoning his family’s more traditional Kintargan values.

Do I know Marquel Aulorian? They live just down the street from us, small neighborhood after all! Maybe I dated his sister? Hahaha, anyways, do I know him?

Action 2

Vandomir heard her response and thought to himself, "does she mean her sort of men prefer bawdy houses or romps in the hay instead of cultured experiences like the opera? Either way, I have learned enough about that tramp, no need to pursue that line of questioning."

Action 3

Vandomir ponder what he remembered of that family. "Hmmmm, the Aurolians made their name and fortune trading salt and silver. Until recently they were very supportive of Kintargo, however since Barzillai Thrune arrived, their family patriarch, Auxis, has grown increasingly supportive of Thrune, abandoning the family's more traditional Kintargan values."

Action 3:

Noravia listened to the Captain's request and found it odd that he needed to track them down to deliver a letter. "Does your friend stay close to home? Surely you could have had one of your crew meet him somewhere in the city. Do you really need us specifically to deliver your letter or is there another reason you sought us out?"

Sargaeta scoffed, "Do you not think I tried that already? He is no where to be found and I'm afraid he's being kept a sort of prisoner in his home. I would not have contacted you if it were as easy as finding him on a street tavern."

Noravia gave Sargaeta an innocent look. "Forgive me but you never said you'd tried that already. You said you thought he may be in danger but you never said 'I tried to find him and couldn't.' However, if he is a prisoner in his home as you fear then are you sure you just want us to deliver your letter and not free him?"

The captain nodded, "Well, yes, if that is his wish; I would expect you to escort him back to me." He sighed, "But I do not want to impose on him. I will let him make this decision. You know what they say about holding a fragile bird too tight in your hands..."

OOC: let's see if there any more questions and I'll move this along tomorrow.

Only know of him. He is a poet and he does not hide his discontent with Thrune, much to his family's dismay.
