"It would be disingenuous of me to claim that the thought hadn't crossed my mind. The latest edict will have a disproportionate impact on outlanders such as yourself," Vandomir responded. "With that said, I will presume to take you at face value then for the current period, and until circumstances dictate otherwise."
”Oh, thank ye for that generous gesture, yer lordship, Eirik muttered under his breath. Really, it had barely been a minute and this one man was already getting under his skin.
”I may be able to help with that.” Turning to Eirik whose face belied the pain he was feeling she asked, ”May I?"
The damage the thugs made was nonlethal, right? Or did I miss your post that they changed their mind after the initial round?
”I will live, but if you have blessings to spare, I would welcome the relief,” Eirik murmured, nodding his gratitude at the woman’s offer.
"They call me Rowan.”
”Eirik,” the monk replied, sighing in relief as the wave of magic washed out the pain. He had already decided against sharing his name with the others – why add to the risk by making introductions at this point, when it seemed best for all involved to just go to their separate ways – but he could hardly withhold his name when the cleric offered him hers. ”Thank you, I feel much better already.
Action 2
Brandishing his greatsword, Vandomir smiled, "you're just in time, I hadn't yet cleaned my blade from the last scum that spoke such to me."
Reasoning that the diplomacy of steel was best called for in this situation, Vandomir rushed the man holding the noble and slashed at him with his blade.
’And this is the man who thinks *WE* caused all the commotion back there?’ Eirik wondered as the man drew his massive sword and charged into the fray.
Well… I wasn’t considering combat as the first course of action, so Eirik would be reacting to Vandomir’s attack, and I think that means he can’t act until the round after, since 6 seconds is not much time to switch mental gears and still get a full action in. If there is room in the melee, if Eirik could get there without provoking AoOs, if Vandomir isn’t the only one to make threatening noises, and if you still allow action during this time, Eirik would charge any thug he could reach – I assume a charge would be needed to get in range, unless they get closer before Eirik’s turn. And might as well throw a Stunning Fist into the mix. AND further assuming the AC is about the same as the earlier thugs’
Despite his irritation, he couldn’t just turn his back at the man’s valiant effort to free a captive from the Citizen Group thugs’ hands. Not that the man seemed to need much help, considering the way his heavy blade was once again drinking the blood of his foes. ’Best remember not to annoy that one too much, Eirik thought as he tried his best to get close enough to contribute to the battle.
There was no time nor room to pick and choose his target – he had to settle for what he could actually reach, while keeping far enough away from the greatsword-wielding warrior to avoid from being accidentally brained by a backswing. Eirik threw a quick kick at the thug’s side, hitting with bone-bruising force.

The damage was non-lethal as long you retaliated with non-lethal but changed to lethal otherwise. Eirik is the only one with non-lethal damage.

Tillia |

Action 1
As her impromptu companions began to talk themselves Tillia stroked Salina's head gently and listened, as she waited for her turn. Once they could interject politely she said, "I'm Tillia and thank you for helping me back." She looked particularly at Caleb who helped pull her along as she thanked them. Holding out her finger with Salina she said, "This is Salina, she tells me that most of those we left behind were alive but taken into the opera house after we fled." It's certainly a pleasure to met you Rowan and Eirik."[/b] She looked at Vandomir, Caleb, and Kaldar, "Who might you be?" As she waited for an answer Tillia pulled out a potion to quaff, her wounds knitting closed somewhat after sh drank it.
Potion of Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Action 2
As she realized that another fight was imminent, Tillia let her fellow escapees be between her and the mob carried the man above them by the simple expedient of moving back from them a bit. I hope this doesn't come to violence again but I'm ready if it does. At least the width of this place will give them troubles coming at us. The spoke to Saline briefly in the same language as before, Draconic:[/b]Fly up there to the roof and make sure no one comes at us from behind, if so warm me please."[/b] The tiny bird took off and flew to the roof tops to do as she was asked while Tillia prepared to cast a spell if she needed to.
Move: move so most of our party is between me and the throng of thrunies.
Free: Ask Salina to keep a watch out for approaching enemies from behind us.
Ready: Cast ray of frost at the nearest enemy if hostilities start.
Readied Ray of frost: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 181d3 ⇒ 3

”Oh, thank ye for that generous gesture, yer lordship,
"Think nothing of it," responded Vandomir, oblivious to any sarcasm from Eirik.
Rowan wrote:"They call me Rowan.””Eirik,”
"Vandomir"
Honestly, I was unaware Vandomir would be quite so bloodthirsty, I think the situation is pushing some of his buttons. Peasants attacking him, and now they have another noble captive. It's weird.

Kaldar Cailean |

Turn 006
Action 1
Kaldar wheezed heavily, and leaned against a wall, as each caught his breath. While moderately in shape, long nights in taverns were no training for cross-city sprints. Before even joining in the converstation, Kaldar shakes his sweaty head and casts Cure Light Wounds on himself, to stave off the worst of the damage. Those thugs had fought well, and now he regretted his flamboyant display of rebellion.
The words of Vandomir sunk in though and the call to run away and hide again were compelling and strong. But before that came a more important task, and he heard Vandomir ask for healers. Now that he wouldn’t fall over, he was eager to help.
”I have some healing skill. Who else needs help?” he offers.
Action 2
Kaldar starts violently at the arriving men and nearly vanishes into the darkness. But there was now here to run and besides...he was tired. A final last stand against he forces of darkness might be something worthy of Cailean.
But there might not be a last stand as the man named Caleb stopped a second general brawl from breaking out.
”What is going on?” Kaldar demanded, from the shadows, longspear still in hand.

Oh, your's is nicely done. Will copy some of those ideas ;-)
I'm a recent convert to PbP and as some of my PBEM players can attest so I was used to rolling 'all dice' in the background (with my 'combat spreadsheet'). I wouldn't present anything more than the character summary table that you see at the end of every turn recap.
However, I am Ok with you guys sharing stats and such.
Now a days, I roll everything on the board and let you guys take a peek at the numbers so don't forget to peek but only 'after' you read the turn recap. Otherwise it would spoil all the fun. :)
Oh and don't forget to correct me as necessary.

Caleb Cage |

Concerned at what the answer may be, Vandomir asks the obvious question, "just which goddess is that, may I ask?"
"Callistria." answers Caleb proudly "The Savored Sting."

Vandomir Jarvis |

Vandomir shakes his head at Caleb's response, "this keeps getting worse." He looks Caleb in the eyes, "as you are no doubt aware, your mistress has been outlawed. Best keep your perversions to yourself," he finishes with a smile.

Caleb Cage |

I think I misunderstood the gameplay post - is the one-gloved man unconcious, or the one making threats?
If so then add in the following for me...
---
Reaching back inside himself, Caleb does what comes naturally. He kills. Reaching out he connects the mind inside himself to the nearest, strongest looking thug.
Mind Blast: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 6, 1) = 17 DC 16 will save for half

Sorry guys, things are a bit crazy this week. I'm not normally this disjointed. I'll try for more contiguity in the future.

"Perversions? Lust is only a third of - oh, you're a noble. Yeah, I can see why you might think that. Don't worry - I'm a Yellowjacket. I know how to be subtle when the situation calls for it."

"You're welcome." he pauses, obviously wondering whether to use an alias, then sighs and continues "I'm Caleb. You've got guts, trying to talk around those thugs. They love power more than a pretty smile though."
"You can talk to birds? Are you a druid? Anyway... I don't think we can take the operas house. We might be able to get someone back when they move her. Tillia gave a slight curtsy to Caleb at the compliment, "I was trying to ensorcel them, sadly it didn't seem to take. As for talking to Salina, no, I'm not a druid, I'm a wizardess. Salina is my familiar and, by some trick, is able to speak the draconic tongue. It's handy being able to speak to her, something that is usually only managed by my much more practiced wizards than myself." Despite having been rather down, Caleb's hopeful words seemed to cheer Tillia up, she gave the man a smile and said, "I'm sure you're right Caleb, thanks."

Can we discuss this OOC?
So none of these thugs are dead right?
And the noble fellow, the "cinnamon merchant" is unconscious? Is he tied up?
Does a search of the thugs find anything that belonged to the cinnamon merchant?

Yes, your initiative vs humans is +3, my bad.
OOC is for discussing. :)
The 'noble fellow' is unconscious and pretty beat up but not tied up.
The thugs apparently don't have anything that belonged to the 'noble'.
There were a total of 8 thugs at the beginning; they currently are: 2 dead, 3 unconscious, 1 critically wounded, and two fleeing.
So you'll have to deal with potential prisoners and dead people situation.
Other questions?

Eirik Clausen |

Eirik watched the two ”concerned citizens” run away, watching his chances for a normal life vanish with them. ’So much for changing clothes and resuming my normal life tomorrow,’ he lamented, knowing that these three had got an altogether too good a look at all of their faces, and unless they were complete morons, they would see to it that people in charge were told who had accosted them. Sure, there would no doubt be at least twelve of them instead of six in their telling of what had happened, but they would make sure they got a chance at retribution.
The monk noticed one of the fallen thugs still breathed, although painfully, and kneeled before the man, using one of his kukri to cut strips of the man’s own clothes to use as bandages. Misguided, small-minded creep he might be, but that was hardly a reason to let him bleed out on the streets.

Eirik Clausen |

Yeah, join the club. Eirik was supposed to be observing, witnessing the beginnings of a fight for freedom. Not take a frost-row seat.
Anyways, I guess our characters can pretty much forget the chance of returning to status quo, since the two survivors are sure to describe us to their superiors. Perhaps Caleb's "Cinnamon supplier" will prove able to provide us sanctuary ;^)

”I hope you are prepared to leave the city, or vanish from public eye,” Eirik sighed, once he had satisfied himself the wounded thug was not going to bleed out. He switched his attention to the one he had disabled, relieving the man of his weapons, just in case he came to his senses at an inopportune time and decided to get all suicidal on them in desperation. ”If the people in charge didn't get our descriptions back at the park, they sure will once those two have a chance to tell their tale.”
Merely returning to the House of Golden Veils for his belongings would be risky, thought it should be possible if he didn't waste much time. Besides, he wouldn't want to bring trouble to the other brothers and sisters; they had been kind enough to take him in and welcome him as one of their own. He wouldn't want to repay the debt by forcing high Priest Gesteliel to choose between denouncing one of his own, or casting him out – neither act would help Abadar's cause, nor might the Paracount be satisfied with simply taking one lamb from the flock.

Vandomir Jarvis |

Vandomir reconsiders the last half minute, "wait," he says turning to face Caleb. "You have a 'cinnamon supplier?'" He shakes his head, "by 'cinnamon' do you mean another of your Calistrian perversions? Is 'cinnamon' the name of some illicit drug used in your hedonistic orgies?"
Turning away from Caleb with a disgusted look on his face, Vandomir addresses Eirik, "Kintargo may not be Egorian, but neither is it a simple fishing village. With so many people, it is possible those two won't be able to give a reliable description. I say we dispose of the bodies, and dump the living ones into a tavern covered in ale."

”Will you risk the lives of your family with that assumption?” Eirik countered. ”For if you are wrong, if you are recognized and found, how well do you think the Paracount will treat those who sheltered you? Will he believe them ignorant of your crime? Will those who carry out his will, no doubt eager to show how loyal and trustworthy *they* are by the zeal with which they carry out their orders, believe?”

With a 17 Dex, my Init is always +3, they being humans is immaterial.

As a heads up though, when we make 3rd level, and I select Kintargo as my favored community, I will get a +2 on Init for that any time we're in the city, which if I interpret the campaign correctly will mean "almost always."
Low level is so funny, because I am building an archer Ranger, per our pre-game discussions, but at 1st and 2nd levels, the feats don't have a chance to add up yet, and so one would assume I'm a melee built character. Of course, having all of our opponents being humans has helped too.

Yeah, that makes sense. I also like to play rangers and mine always start that way too. Good ranged but very decent melee as well with a couple of levels under your belt.
BTW, I'll wait for a few more responses and then I'll be 'waking up the contact' to start roleplaying with him.
I may or may not recap but you'll see a posting from me tonight.

With the fighting over, Tillia took a second to decide that she wasn't going to stop the fleeing men. They didn't know her, and may not have really seen her, so as far as she could tell they weren't a threat to her. Instead she moved to stay out of the way while the others with her in this ally tended to the wounded and the unconscious man.

As Eirik and Vandomir exchanged words, Rowan busied herself with checking on the unconscious man who had started it all. She checked his head as well as his abdomen to see if there was any potentially lethal damage that needed to be healed.

Critically wounded does mean not unconscious, right?
There were a total of 8 thugs at the beginning; they currently are: 2 dead, 3 unconscious, 1 critically wounded, and two fleeing.
"As for a place where robbery is expected - this is it."

Caleb Cage |

Hmm - interesting intersection of alignment and religion. I see Caleb as fundamentally CG. His defining personality trait is hatred of Thrune, a trait which forms the reason why he worships the goddess of revenge. He swore, by that goddess, revenge on Thrune.
Question: are the chellish loyalist group covered by that oath? I'd sort of assumed they were.

Vandomir Jarvis |

I too am CG, in a Robin Hood sort of way. Not stuck on high minded honor and such. Survival is important. More loyal to family and Kintargo and less to Cheliax, and certainly not Asmodeus.
Surprised at hearing his own ideas parroted back by the pale girl with the boyish figure, Vandomir responded, "Hmmm yes, excellent suggestions, Rowan was it? How are the prisoners, they looked to me like they might not pull through?"

unless Caleb made it unnecessary to do some of the health checks :) Definitely not actually trying to heal the thugs but am using the health checks to find out more about their health status.
As she checked the unmoving foes she spoke, "These thugs won't stay unconscious forever. We need to deal with them sooner than later. Or leave them and disappear."

Caleb Cage |

"Doesn't take long to go get backup from here. Our rabbits could be back any moment. I say we take the ones we like, deal with the others, leave the bodies here, and run."

Rowan's administrations to the fallen noble proved useful as the man slowly regained consciousness. He tried to get up but fell back down again.
As Rowan started checking on the unconscious thugs, the noble man spoke, "Leave them be. They'll be Ok soon enough. My colorful spell only knocked them out for a brief time."
He coughed up blood, "They were too many for me... thank you."
He again tried to get up and managed to do so this time, albeit slowly. "I'm Rexus Victocora and I've been watching you. I... we need your help. But we can't stay here. I know a place close by where we can talk. Follow me."

Eirik’s LN, but then again… a) I have never cared much about alignments anyway, except as a target of some particular magical effects – personality is much more complex than the narrow definition of an “alignment” and b) LN people can be total creeps too, never mind the “L” component.
