Action 1 Continued
Tillia couldn't help it as gasp of fear and horror escaped her mouth as Caleb ended the badly injured thug. It wasn't that she hadn't seen death that bothered her, no, it was the fact that he, for all intents and purposes, murdered a man who was no real threat to them anymore. She heard hi explanation and asked, "I understand he your reasons, but did you have to kill him? Surely we could've come up with some other solution than that."
Once the unconscious man awoke Tillia listened to what he had to say and, after thinking a moment, replied, "I heard about your home, I'm sorry for your loss. I understand it'll be hard for a time, but things will get better," she seems to recollect what had just been happening the last few minutes, "Well, at least I hope they improve." Upon hearing about the store Tillia found herself hard pressed to hold back her excitement, "You mean The Crissali? The wizard that runs the store? I've never met her, but I'd love the chance, even better if it's somewhere safe to stay while we catch our breath."

I'm back but a bit lost. Lots of chat going on (which is good) but hard to keep up with. Can someone sum up what is going on?
I'll recap tonight but a summary is as follows:
2 thugs unconscious
3 thugs killed
1 thug critically wounded (initially 'cared' for by Eirik but later killed by Caleb)
2 thugs fleeing
noble man woke up and asked him to follow to talk in private
Game on!
Vandomir Jarvis
Vandomir takes a moment to consider the man, while trying to get the new bloodstains off his clothing, "Victocora? Peculiar."
Finally, pointing at Caleb, Vandomir had to ask, "Watching us, or just him? He's the cinnamon user, not me, I don't touch the stuff, wouldn't recognize it if I saw it! Mind you, I don't care that he's into it, nor that you deal in it, but I want no part in it." A thought occurs to Vandomir, "your house recently burned down, did you have an accident while refining the cinnamon?"
Rowan Drovenge
"I'm Rexus Victocora and I've been watching you. I... we need your help. But we can't stay here. I know a place close by where we can talk. Follow me."
Rowan was a little apprehensive to follow another stranger to who knows where. She gave him a puzzled expression, "How could you have been watching us? We've barely met and, I don't know about the others, but I had no plan to be here tonight."

He smiled, "What I mean is that I saw you fight off the thugs and dottari before I ran away. I think someone saw me just before the devil dog came out and I ran."
Despite his injuries, Rexus was elated, "Don't you think it's just destiny that we met up so quickly? Wait...," he hesitated, "were you following me?"

"Miss, you're the wizard. You've got some fancy way of erasing a minute of memory then please tell me. We could make a fortune if you can do that reliably."
There must have been some sort of identification phrase in Thaeldriel's note. I figure might as well be 'cinnamon'.
"Not the nob!" Caleb shouts at Vandomir "He's my cinnamon supplier!" Cinnamon supplier? Really? That's the best I can come up with.
that's where cinnamon got used first. I'm fine with him not having been told, though, or Caleb having gotten confused.

So the part where you write "Cinnamon supplier? Really? That's the best I can come up with.". That was you the player and not you the character?
OK, that makes more sense.

No, that was the pc. That said, I was pretty ill when I wrote that post, it's definitely not one of my best - I could see that at the time but just couldn't see a better way. That sort of showed up in the character's mindset.
There was a bit there where I didn't want him to look like a superspy, so was working that in. And he had to be careful not to give away anything to the thugs listening in.
My limited understanding is that both parties need an identification. His was one glove. If he was meant to be meeting Thaeldriel Caleb's couldn't be physical - therefore a codeword made sense.
I'm happy to say Thaeldriel had clued him in, and gave Caleb a word because she has a CN sense of humour.

Action 1
Rexus wanted to ascertain himself that he indeed had found the right group. “Why did you stand up to Thrune? Why come to the protest?”
Caleb's face quirked into a twisted smile. "To find you. One of the only people I've ever trusted vanished, and left me a note telling me to look for the one gloved man. She told me to look for you because this might be my chance for revenge."
He takes a deep breath and continues "I've sworn Vengeance on THRUNE. An Oath blessed by Callistria. We are Ilduliel - at least about as much as humans can be. I've had two families, and THRUNE has killed both of them. My earliest memories are of their cruelty. I want to see them suffer and die. In a perfect world, I would have them see everything they care for destroyed before they take their own life only to be punished eternally for failure in Hell."
"I'm part of this city, though. Moves against THRUNE have to be clever and decisive. Armed uprising will simply invite vicious military reprisals. Rebellion will result in more deaths, unless handled very carefully. You cannot seek to negotiate with THRUNE. They must be destroyed."
He turns to Vandomir "What about you broadsword? You've talked about how you cant fight 'city hall' and we should all go home and hide. Why were you there? Why did you fight, instead of run? You one of those guys who just likes killing?" Caleb's head tilts to the side "You've got the look, a little."
Vandomir Jarvis
Action 1
Vandomir had always enjoyed Jarvis End. Named for his family, and representative of some of his favorite architectural schools, it was just something of which one should be proud. However, on this day, he barely noticed his surroundings as he passed through them. In fact, wanting to ensure that no connection was made between his actions today and the family he loved, he removed his signet ring and hid it deep in the folds of his clothing.
He turns to Vandomir "What about you broadsword? You've talked about how you cant fight 'city hall' and we should all go home and hide. Why were you there? Why did you fight, instead of run? You one of those guys who just likes killing?" Caleb's head tilts to the side "You've got the look, a little."
Vandomir looks up from his introspection, "Why did I fight? Not by choice, I can assure you. I tried to run, but was blocked, and I wasn't in the mood to be bludgeoned, captured, and locked up. As for why I was there, I had my own reasons, but I surely wasn't there to protest. I am, err, was an innocent bystander, caught up in the actions of the malcontents. I suppose the barristers would argue that I am not innocent now, however. Do I like killing? I will let you know once I ponder it. Before today I had never killed anything higher up the scale of life than a pheasant or a wolf, and those only with my bow," he says as he taps his bow briefly. "Cleaving a man in twain, even in self defense, was neither a fun, nor a distasteful act, it simply was what the moment required. Watching the life ebb from his eyes though, well, that may haunt me."
Action 2
"Will you aid Kintargo? Will you save the city from the devil?”
A slow laugh comes out of Vandomir's throat. "How could a right thinking son of Kintargo possibly refuse to aid the city, or save it from the devil?" Vandomir shakes his head as he continues, "But you ask the wrong question sir. Ask if we are willing to give our lives fighting the forces of the Thrunes and Cheliax? Are we willing to fight all of the devils at their command, not just the one we saw today? For those are the true questions we must answer. I am no lover of Asmodeus or the Thrunes, to be sure, but I am quite fond of having my head squarely situated between my shoulders."
Vandomir surveys the group, "drug using perverts, outlanders, and women hardly seem the preferred choice to wrest the city from the Thrunes. Only that one," he says pointing at Kaldar, "seems remotely to be the stuff you will need for this task you seem intent to pursue."
Tag to anyone that I may have offended that wants to chime in, hahaha.
Eirik Clausen
Rexus wanted to ascertain himself that he indeed had found the right group. “Why did you stand up to Thrune? Why come to the protest?”
”To see the history turn over a new leaf,” Eirik said. ”The Silver City has long been a shining light in the darkness of the empire. I believed if there was a single place here that might follow Andoran's example and forge a better future for its people, it would be Kintargo. And then, House Thrune took the reins of power. I knew the people, accustomed to more worldly ways, would not take kindly to a die-hard Asmodean on the throne.”
”I came to the protest to see if it might be the first true sign of change. See people demand the power that should be theirs by right. I came there to observe, to witness. I did not come there to fight. 'And look how well that turned out for him.'
Eirik frowned and stayed silent, thinking. It was true he was committed already – he couldn't believe the two escaped thugs wouldn't be able to give out good enough a description of him to force him to either flee or lay low for the foreseeable future. Neither option appealed. And true, the Disciplines that governed so much of life in Cheliax were an abomination unto Abadar, never mind the cordial relations between the two churches. In Eirik's mind, the Asmodean way was the path of soul-crushing oppression. Laws that served the law-giver, not the people. And the Paracount certainly seemed to represent those forces. Thus, Eirik wanted to stand against him.
Although he had to agree with the 'son of Kintargo': it was hard to oppose the government, no matter how corrupt, if your head parted company with your neck. A lost cause made for a great ballad for the scalds of his mother's people, but it wasn't much fun for the as-yet-unsung hero. Still, if there was a chance...
”Do you have a plan, and the wherewithal to make it happen?” Eirik asked.
Vandomir surveys the group, "drug using perverts, outlanders, and women hardly seem the preferred choice to wrest the city from the Thrunes. Only that one," he says pointing at Kaldar, "seems remotely to be the stuff you will need for this task you seem intent to pursue."
”What you need for a revolution is leaders, not warriors.” Eirik murmured. ”Someone to rally the people, and someone for the people to rally against. 'At least the Paracount was readily providing *that* part of the deal', Eirik thought.
Tillia
Action 1
When they entered the shop Tillia was quite excited to meet the proprietress but her excitement quickly fell at the impatient instruction to get in the back and buy something. Once they entered the safety of the back room, Tillia found a seat and took it, quite weary from their fight and flight routine since the protest. Once they had all finished she spoke up, "I'm afraid I didn't go to protest, I went to try and keep Alinza safe. I've been living at Shelyn's temple for the last year or so and Alinza is the only persona who I've managed to befriend. Several of the clergy were going to the rally to try and keep the peace, Alinza among them, and I went to try and save her from herself." The lovely young woman cast her gaze down before she continued, "I'm afraid I failed. The only reason I got involved at all was to try and save my friend, help her as she has helped me..."
Action 2
Tillia considered Rexus' request to help bring down Thrune and free the city. She ignored Caleb's jab at all of them, it wasn't worth responding to and she had plenty to think on as it was. After a few minutes she said, "Taking up arms is not something to do lightly, I'm not even sure I'm very well suited to it." Her shoulders slumped slightly, "I'm not sure I want to get involved even if I am suitable for the task." Finally she sits up and squares her shoulders, "But I owe it to Alinza and the others killed or hurt today to do what I can. I can't just flee and leave her, I couldn't even if I wanted to, I don't have anywhere else I could go. So yes, I will stay and fight. Who knows, maybe my studies of magic will turn out to be useful."
Rowan Drovenge
Action 1:
Rowan sat down at the table and half-listened to the others talk. She was feeling overwhelmed with everything that had happened and felt the need to sketch to relax. Thumbing through some of the parchment strewn on the table, she found an empty piece of paper and began to sketch what she remembered of Nox’s face. She listened as the others shared why they had been at the protest and then realized the room had gotten quiet and the others were looking at her. Blushing slightly she said, ”I was there looking for someone...but Milani had other plans for me. I ended up fighting to protect others who wouldn’t have fared as well.” Then she remembered something she was carrying in her scroll case and dug it out. She unrolled a portrait she had drawn of Tiberius and showed it to the others. It was her favorite because it captured his smile the best. ”This was who I was looking for. His house burned during the Night of Ashes. He’s probably dead but I have a small amount of hope. Did any of you see him at the protest?”

Action 2:
Rexus knew he was destined to do this; he turned to see each in the group, “Will you aid Kintargo? Will you save the city from the devil?”
To her the answer seemed obvious but she voiced a rhetorical question to make her point. ”Milani is the patron of those who fight against oppression and unjust rule. What kind of follower of the Everbloom would I be if I refused to aid Kintargo in freeing herself from a tyrant like Barzillai Thrune?"

This assertion caused Vandomir to do a double take. He could not help but reassess the one he had mentally labelled as the "waifish tomboy." Hadn't she healed some of the wounded earlier? What weapon had she used? Wasn't it a morningstar? "Wait," he interjected hesitantly, looking directly at Rowan, searching for the blood rose, "are you actually a priestess of the goddess of hope and uprisings?"

Action 1
Kaldar remains quiet, gravitating towards Rowan, letting the other very opinionated people talk. The cleric was the happiest, free-wheeling guya round but politics made him nervous. He had been on the run too long to actively join in a conversation like this.
Action 2
That is, until Vandomir calls him out directly. "Me?" Then he laughs. He, of all people is the one picked out to be good material. The broken waste of a priest of the Asmosdues. A hell of a choice, Kaldar thought, invoking the name intentionally.
Then he remarks to the religious byplay, "You'll find most of us are rebels already, Sir. I, for one, am a follower of Cayden Cailean.". It felt good to admit it, even to self-admitted rebels.
He turned Rexus and said, pointedly looking at Vandomir, "I have long been the enemy of the Thrunes and their horrible grip of power. But I think it is time to fight back, and not be alone. I'm in." The he adds, "And damn those who are too afraid to, like I was." he adds, as always, diving in deeply to any new cause.

"Drug using pervert? You don't know me, broadsword. As it happens I don't use drugs. The Blessings of Callistria don't like them."
To Tillia he added "You can stay with me, if you need to. It's not pretty, but it's reasonably secure. I guess that goes for all of you - if you need a place to stay you can be sure doesn't have informers I guess I can put you up. I do have a rule that no-one does business out of my home, though."

Ahhhh, exactly what I was hoping to hear.
"A warpriestess of Milani!? There cannot be many of your sort. I am a follower of Shelyn, and a practitioner of the arts of architecture and masonry, but my goddess and yours are on good terms, both share the rose as a sigil, and both respect the other." He searches her face for indications that she is being untruthful. Finding none, he makes a decision and continues, "I was moved by Shelyn to be at the Park today. I had thought it was so that I might be better prepared to practice my arts in devotion to Her, but I now believe that events, and the Gods, have conspired to place us together. As I said earlier, I have never killed a man before today. The dawn found me as a follower of The Eternal Rose. I was then blooded on the streets of Kintargo. If She will have me, I would dedicate my body, my blade, and my bow to the service of your Lady, the Lady of the Rose in the Bloody Street."
As he concludes, Vandomir drops to one knee before Rowan in the cramped backroom of a musty bookstore.
The romantic in me quite enjoys the symbolism here. Sure, it's cheesy and such, but that's what high adventure and high fantasy is all about.

Vandomir’s sudden act of kneeling surprised Rowan. Who was she to accept or lead followers of Milani? She had only just begun to come into her own and was feeling quite lost without Elsbeth. Patting Vandomir awkwardly on the shoulder she said, ”Yes, well…arise?” Finding her composure she continued, ”Milani will always receive those who champion her cause. Be welcomed.”

“Will you go to this building, the Fair Fortune Livery, to find out more of the Silver Ravens?”
Eirik's eyes lit up as the Archivists were mentioned – these were the people he had been trying to contact. Unfortunately, things had gone downhill for them faster than his master had realized... or had been let to understand. But so it often was, when a letter might take months to be delivered – when they weren't simply lost somewhere along the way - and it hardly helped that the messages had had to be very circumspect, to protect both parties.
”You wouldn't happen to have some clothes lying around for us to change into? Eirik asked. ”It's not like the whole city is looking for people looking like us – yet – but I would rather avoid the chances I can.”

”I know this is rather early to worry about this, but have you given much thought what would come after? Eirik mused, directing his words to Rexus but hoping for general discussion if one was to be had. ”Let's say the revolution succeeds, and the Paracount is killed or banished. Then what? The city is part of the Empire, not an independent country, and by all accounts the Paracount has been put to power by the Queen. How will she react to one of her cities getting all uppity and getting rid of the ruler she has appointed?”
”She can't just let such an affront go – that would set an example for other provinces and cities to follow. Would you accept the replacement she would send, and the punishment the Empire's laws require for the leaders of an armed rebellion? Or would you seek to swear allegiance to her, and ask to rule the city in her name? Or would you declare independence, bar the gates and prepare to meet the armies she would no doubt field to take back what was hers by right?”

”You wouldn't happen to have some clothes lying around for us to change into? Eirik asked. ”It's not like the whole city is looking for people looking like us – yet – but I would rather avoid the chances I can.”
Rexus shook his head, "No, I don't have much more than what you see me carrying. But I have some money to get you a new outfit. Do you think it's best if you disguised yourselves?"
”She can't just let such an affront go – that would set an example for other provinces and cities to follow. Or would you declare independence, bar the gates and prepare to meet the armies she would no doubt field to take back what was hers by right?”
Rexus was of two of minds. For one, he was very happy that this was happening. All this talk just brought it home. But on the other hand, he was sad because he was realizing how 'early' this was and how unprepared he was. "To be honest with you, I haven't given it much thought yet. All I know that it was better the way it was before. Who knows? Maybe the Silver Ravens had a plan? Maybe the Queen will allow self-rule under certain parameters? Maybe we could obtain allies to help in our fight? How did Andoran become free?"
Please remember to write in past tense. :)

Don't hesitate to correct me if I'm wrong – Golarion history is not my strong point ;^)
”Somehow, I don't think we are going to witness the death of an immortal to destabilize the Empire enough to make enforcing the law possible,”Eirik sighed. ”A lot will depend on just what the Queen thinks of the Paracount – was his posting here a reward for services rendered, or was it a way of getting the man far away from the center of the Empire's politics without alienating his House? Or was he sent here to fail, so another could step into his shoes, 'rescuing' the city from a tyrant's rule?” The monk was about to go on, but stopped himself and shook his head. There he was again, ready to second guess himself into indecision.
”But all this is academical at this point. Unless the man is putting on an act – and I cannot guess for what reason that might be – he's going to *force* people into revolt with his rule. And if so, it would be best if someone was there to channel that rage into a productive resistance. Otherwise, the streets will flow with blood.
Rowan Drovenge
Rowan had gone back to sketching but listened as Rexus read the letter written by his mother. Upon mention of the Silver Ravens, her head snapped up and her entire focus stayed on what he was reading. She was sure that this was the group that Tiberius’ uncle had been involved with but the letter made it sound like the group had been inactive for years. Maybe they had just taken the name because someone had heard it before or maybe they had been too disorganized to mount a real resistance or maybe they had all been killed before they could become effective again. If the Silver Ravens had had these hideouts in the past then maybe they were still known to some and Tiberius had escaped there to hide. If that was the case then investigating the Fair Fortune Livery would be a good place to start.
“Will you go to this building, the Fair Fortune Livery, to find out more of the Silver Ravens?”
”It seems like the most reasonable place to start. If we can find resources or allies then it will definitely improve our odds.”
Eirik’s concerns about the future were founded but she felt that the monk was worrying about too many ‘what ifs’. ”I think you said it best when you said ‘it’s rather early to worry about this.’ We need to focus on the present and survive one day at a time. If we survive and if we succeed, then we can worry about what comes next. And yes, I realize that Milani is the goddess of hope. Some of you may think that my words don’t sound hopeful but hope need not be unrealistic…then it is just a wish.”

Seeing that Rexus was still in some pain after his ordeal, Rowan asked, ”Do you have someone to help with your wounds? You had mentioned before that ‘we’ need your help. Does that mean you actually have other allies or were you using that term to speak for Kintargo in general? Otherwise I can help you with your injuries.”

The name of the place Rexus mentioned seemed to ring a bell for Tillia so while the others talked she wracked her brain for why. Then she remembered that Maldak had mentioned it to her once. With that, the recollection came back to her, at least what he had told her about it. She focused on everyone and said, "The Fair Fortune Livery was a slaughter house at one point. I'm not sure how long ago but it was converted into the livery by the Juliac's. I know it's abandoned now, I'm just not sure how long ago it was." She pondered a moment more and made a connection between the mention of an old Silver Raven's base underneath it and continued, "It seems my late master told me about that place, he never told me exactly why he was interested in it. Maybe he had some idea that there was a hidden area beneath it." She sighed, "I'm afraid I don't know much more than that about it."

Tillia started to look over the items that they were given, most of them were of little interest to her but the bracers, well, the bracers quickly caught her attention. When she touched them she felt the tingle of magic about them and so she cast a spell and then looked at them more closely.
Cast Detect Magic and examine the bracers.
Spellcraft to ID bracers (+2 to the check if the aura is enchantment based): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12

Action 1
"People who knew more than us seem to have thought it'd be worth bringing these 'silver ravens' back" pointed out Caleb. "Keeping an eye out for the long term is good, but that letter says we can learn more. How long 'till someone gets caught who knows about it? Might've already happened."
"I think we have to assume there'll be traps. If rebels set it up while Thrune was in charge, it probably has something nasty to protect it."
He nodded to Eirik "I can change our clothes for a while - maybe long enough to get some more. I say we check this stable out. I think we do it now, if we can get healing - do it before tonight's curfew, while there's still chaos in the streets."
Action 2
“These are for you. It is all I have left and I’m sure you’ll make better use of them than I will.”
Caleb's eyes widened at the loot, then darted back up to Rexus.
"That's all you have left? Look, I appreciate the offer, but we can't bankrupt you." he looked back at the money and sighed "Your mother thought you were the one to do this. It was literally her last request. You think you're not the one to lead a rebellion? She thought otherwise. Now, maybe that's because she was one of those parents who always thinks their little lord is destined for greatness. Maybe she actually knew you could fly if you had the courage to jump."He picked up the signet ring "These people killed your mother. This is the one chance you get for revenge. If you're scared, it just shows you're not stupid. You're not sure you can do this? It's all gone okay so far. Now maybe you're just lucky..." he threw the Victocora ring in an arc to Rexus "...but at this point lucky is what we need."

Caleb wrote:He examined carefully Rowan's drawing "Look, if you can get me a copy of this I can put the word out. I know people who might know where he is if he's lying low. If he vanished in the fires..." he trails off awkwardly "I'm in sort of the same situation. I'm afraid..." he trails off, unwilling to say the words. The sadness in Rowan's eyes lifted briefly at Caleb's offer. "Thank you so much for the offer. The next moment I have I will draw another for you to distribute. I don't think I can bear to part with this one, it's all I have left of him." She paused as she contemplated Caleb's last words. "If you want to describe to me how the person looks whom you lost, I'd be willing to try and make a portrait for you as well."

"I appreciate it, but I've got a heap of portraits. If she doesn't want to be found, she won't be. Anyway, she'd rather I spent my energy avenging her death than crying over it." as he spoke these last words Caleb unconsciously looked to the side and remembered Thaeldriel berating a parishioner with much the same words. "If she's dead, she's with Callistria now."

Eirik nodded his assent: it would no doubt take some time for their descriptions to be passed on to guards all over the city, and there was always the chance that the information would become lost in the bureaucracy. More so since the people in charge had seemed genuinely ill-prepared for the escalation of the events at the protest.

Rexus hushed his tone as he leaned over to Rowan, "Well. there's Laria I suppose. My mother trusted her and she's offered a place to stay so I would count her as an ally."
he took account of his wounds, "My wounds aren't so bad. I'll be fine in a day or two. Thank you though. I think you'll need your abilities for whatever exploration you're bound to do."
@Tillia: She knows where the 'livery' is but nothing more on the bracers.

Rexus sighed, "Well, my strengths are more towards strategy and management and not actual doing. I'm afraid I would be a burden during any actual exploration or fighting. However, I'm well versed in knowledge and will no doubt remain very involved in the rebellion. I'm just not the hero type."

Turn 009
Action 1
Vandomir stood awkwardly. Having just declared his allegiance to Milani, Vandomir concluded that his path was clear, "as it would appear that Rowan is guided by Milani to follow this path, I do not see that I have any choice but to join you and seek out the knowledge of the Silver Ravens, be it in the Livery, or elsewhere."
Knowledge(local): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7 +2 vs humans
Action 2
Vandomir looked at the proffered items and turned to Rexus, "what motivation would the Thrune have had to burn your family's residence? At this point, as we are apparently pledging ourselves to the cause, I think we deserve to know."

Rexus shrugged his shoulders, "My best guess is that Thrune knew about my mother belonging to the Sacred Order of Archivists. I suppose that whatever they were doing was worth destroying so they targeted my mother and whoever else belonged to that Order."
He shook his head, "There's nothing other than that. My family has never defied the Thrunes."

"Laria is one of my mother's contacts. it was to her that she entrusted her coffer with the letter and family heirlooms. She runs the Long Roads Coffeehouse, located in in Villegre, just northeast of the park."
Rexus looked around, "She offered shelter until I can get my feet under me again."

Recognition showed on Rowan's face. "I remember her because I bought many a coffee from her establishment when I spent time at the park. I just never knew her name. Seems like an eternity ago now."
