Elsbeth felt relief as the dottari retreated at Tillia's words. The cleric lead the way down the stairs making sure it was safe for the masquerade guests to leave the building. Once she was certain that they could leave safely, she took one of the side doors into the ballroom to see if the other Ravens still needed help.

Ouch. At least this was a good time for Eirik to take a nap, since most of the nasties have been dealt with already ;^)

Stats

Caleb threw himself on THRUNE's corpse, determined to keep the tyrant from rising - and saw, from the corner of his eye, Eirik fall. Desperately he called on the reservoir of power - tapped almost to non-existence - and threw what positive blessing he could at the fallen monk.
Move: to THRUNE. Free: Prone on THRUNE. Standard: Stabilize on Eirik.

Caleb: Barzillai and Eirik are across the orchestra pit from each other so you won't be able to do both things this round...

I'll wait for Tillia but intend to recap later today.

I can accept that, but at CL 8 it should have a range of 25+(4*5)=45ft. I think it might go far enough. What if I stood in the square next to Brassy?

Otherwise, I'm going to use the standard action to cut off his head. THRUNE, not Eirik, obviously.

You're right. I thought stabilize was a 'touch' spell.

No need to cut off Barzillai's head. At least not this round. :)

Knowing that there was nothing she could really due to help against the remaining devil Tillia turned and began ushering people to the various stairways and helping them flee the building. From her vantage point she couldn't see the dire straights that Eirik was in and so had no clue just how badly things were going down there.

Female Human Inquisitor(Infiltrator)/10

Noravia scrambled over to Eirik and was pulling out her healing wand when Elsbeth burst through the side doors. The cleric moved over to the inquisitor and monk. "Milani's healing will help with everyone's wounds."

At Elsbeth's appearance, Noravia's focus switched from Eirik's mortality to the absence of Caleb. With a note of panic in her voice she yells, "Caleb!" Where are you?" She had this momentary vision of him being unconscious, bleeding out, and invisible somewhere in this room and that she'd never find him. This added another level of desperation to her voice as she cried out again, "Caleb!"

If I understood correctly, Caleb is still vanished. If I misunderstood then I can change her post.

Meanwhile Elsbeth channeled Milani's positive, healing energy into the surrounding area to close up wounds.

Elsbeth will channel energy to heal - 4d6 and she can do this 5 times. She'll start with Eirik, Noravia, and Vandomir as well as guests - is there a limit to the number of people that can be healed in the channel area? Then she'll include Caleb when he makes himself visible. Even though the bone devil is dead, she'll make sure that she omits possible healing of baddies with her selective channeling. It wouldn't do to heal the bone devil or Thrune...

healing channel: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 6, 4, 3) = 16
healing channel: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 3, 4) = 9
healing channel: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 2, 3) = 11
healing channel: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 6, 2) = 16

She'll save one channel for now.

Caleb, hidden behind the prone paracount, popped his head up. "Here! I'm taking his head - and his crown!" True to his word he redoubled his effort, sawing at Brassy's neck with the keen edge of the hell-forged Glaive, terrified that Noravia's healing might bring their foe back to his feet. "We need to get people out! THRUNE's probably got some dirty trick in case he loses!"

Head in hand, Caleb looked around. "V, N - take charge! E - grab the body! I'm going down for Shensen. I'll see you outside!"
With that the sorceror, giddy with relief and delight, sprinted for the stairs with unearthly speed.

Once out of sight he slowed his pace, vanishing once again from sight in case some dire trap awaited him.
If he thinks he can easily DDoor Shensen, he'll pick up some of those priceless red-marked scripts as well.

Male Human Monk (unchained) 11

Eirik sat up gingerly, feeling the haves of healing energy begin to mend his gruesome wound. The moment he had come to his senses he had been practically trying to hold his own guts in his stomach with his hands. Now, mere moments later, there was hardly anything but a pink scar under his torn, blood-soaked robes. ’That was close’, he thought, wondering if it would be about time to consider retirement. Especially as it seemed the Paracount himself had just fallen in battle.

Eirik glanced at the now-headless body and shuddered. He had known well enough that the mystic bore a terrible grudge towards the noble, but seeing the mystic gleefully vanish with his blood-dripping trophy... scary, to say the least.

Female Human Inquisitor(Infiltrator)/10

Noravia started to run after Caleb. "Wait! It's not safe to go alone. There are still hellhounds downstairs. I'll come with you."

I don't think that Noravia can actually catch up to Caleb but she'll try. Hopefully he'll actually wait for her but it's understandable if he doesn't.

Elsbeth took one more look at Eirik before letting him up. "You should be healthy enough for now but try not to tangle with anymore devils until tomorrow."

She took a better look at those around them, "Do you guys know where our other allies are?" The cleric scans the crowd below to see if she can pick out the members of the Silver Council.

perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10

Seeing no one she recognized she began ushering people out the side door that she had come in, hoping that she'd recognize someone as they filed past her. All the while she kept Caleb's words in mind thinking that this evening may not be over yet.

Once the guests are out of the Opera House, I think we should finish searching it and also loot the bodies of Thrune and Nox. They could have some cool stuff...evil, but cool.

Caleb waved an assent, rendering Noravia invisible and yelled for her to run!

Cockatrices: suggest we just put them full of arrows since they are safely contained at the moment. I wouldn't leave them behind (some Thrune loyalist might jsut free them out of spite) but I don't see any reason to fight them fairly either.

Exploring the Opera House: would wait to see how things go first... the building won't go anywhere, and I doubt looting will start soon, not before the news of the Paracount's death properly spread. But I wouldn't want to be stabbed in the back by Dottari reinforcements. Rather stand ready to run or fight where I see the enemy coming.

Hellhounds: those we need to deal with since they are roaming more of less freely. But perhaps not quite yet, assuming our control of the Opera House is not going to be challenged by whoever might try and take control of the Dottari now that the Paracount is gone.

And about that... if both the Paracount and Nox are gone (still feel the Thrune went down too easy... well, a pessimist is ever pleasantly surprised) who's the next in line to inherit? Was there some major Asmodean high priest we knew about who had a seat in the current goverment or am I dreaming about that part?

Action 2

Beginning to feel like a proper human being again after some more healing, Eirik was up and about testing the limits of his body and discovering new and interesting twinges of pain with every other move. At least the absense of deathly weakness was giving him a chance to worry about new things. The Paracount was dead. What did come after? Either some of his surviving lieutenants would seek to assume the position of power, or the whole structure of power would collapse. If the former, the new man or woman on top might seek to solidify power with a ruthless object lesson. If the latter, the people of the city might turn to rioting, striking back at the people who they had seen had oppressed them for weeks and months now. Neither would serve the Ravens well.

Eirik felt they should push their advantage, seek to make sure the government toppled all the way now that the foundations had been so well and truly cracked. But they had barely survived the night, and while the caliber of the surviving Dottari might not be up to what they had already defeated, the servants of Asmodeus and loyalists of the House Thrune did at least have numbers.

Well, I don't want to spoil anything but this game is not over yet. :)

The high priest of Asmodeus in town is Corinstian Gravenner and the temple is T3 (see campaign page for more info).

Sorry Caleb if I messed up your plans by inviting myself along. I just couldn't see Noravia letting you run off by yourself.

Noravia stumbled a few times running to catch up with Caleb. This reminded her that she was still feeling the after-effects of whatever Nox had done to her. When she caught up, she grabbed his hand to get him to pause for a second. "Caleb, you're still hurt. Here, let me help you." She pulled out the healing wand and used a few charges on him.

When she was done and before they took off again, she leaned in and kissed him. "Thanks for saving my life, not once but twice. If it weren't for you, I wouldn't have survived." She smiled and said, "It looks like I owe you more than just hot chocolate when we finally get that bedrest. But for now, let's see if we can help Shensen."

Would killing the cockatrices revert Shensen back to flesh? Or is their magic permanent? Or can they reverse the flesh to stone or is it just one way? If we can't get her out then we'll have to find someone with magic to help her.

Killing the cockatrices won't help. You have two options: a) physically carry her out of here (and then flesh to stone magic) or b) directly use flesh to stone magic.

Let's bring it back on the cleric list but leave it at 6th level so I think is outside of Elsbeth's reach at this time.

Right, she only has access to 4th level spells. Do we know anyone who could cast a 6th level spell? If it's Hetamon then we need to find him first...

Otherwise I'm not sure that we can help Shensen right now. We'll just have to move the statue and keep it safe.

Tillia helped the guests get out of the building safely and when she saw Lictor Octavio appear and speak, then begin to beat on her wall she said, "Here, let me." She focused and with a thought the wall wavered, and disappeared. "There, that's better. Now let's see what we can do about Shensen. I don't know that i can help her right now but maybe we can figure out something." She looked to where Eirik and Elsbeth were and approached them asking, "Where was it you said that Shensen was? I want to examine her and see if I can do anything to help free her."

"Basement, east side," Eirik answered, drawn back to the present by Tillia's voice. "You shoudln't wander down there alone, though. There were backs of hell hounds that we avoided when we went scouting. Since we haven't seen those beasts here they are surely still down there, and possibly getting hungry and anxious by now."

The monk lifted his gaze and frowned at the caged cockatrices. "We should deal with those things before they somehow get loose and we end up with yet more all too lifelike statues to worry about," he mused. "And I don't fancy getting in reach of their beaks and claws. Do you have any more arrows, Vandomir? Or should we go see if these glaives are long enough for the job?"

Caleb held still for a moment, and after Noravia kissed him he looked... shifty. "All for one!" he said weakly.

He shifted the blood-dripping head to his right hand. "Shensen. Yes. Before whatever it is coming comes."
If we get some quiet time... Caleb had a chance to choose love over vengeance right at the end - and arguably he chose vengeance. I think he'll be quite conflicted right now.

"She's SO heavy!" complained Caleb at Shensen's weight. Stone is about 2-2.5 times heavier than flesh right? How much does this statue weigh?

Noravia's eyes flicked to Thrune's head that Caleb had such a tight grip on. She wanted to ask him how it felt to have accomplished his life's goal but she figured there wasn't time at the moment. That could come later if they got the chance to talk. Part of her wondered what would end up filling the void that would be left by Caleb's nemesis' death.

Maybe Eirik, Tillia, and Vandomir will catch up with them at Shensen...

Caleb wrote:
"She's SO heavy!"

Noravia quickly realized that the two of them were not going to be able to move the statue. Worse, if they did, they may break her without help. Caleb, bless his heart, had a strong mind but not so much in the muscle department. "I think we need help. I'm pretty sure I heard Octavio say that he'd be back with reinforcements, to help with the bodies. I'm sure they can help us move her."

quick note. I'll post soon. Vanish caps out at 5 rounds - it's probably over already

Female Human Inquisitor(Infiltrator)/10

Would Freedom of Movement cast on Shensen allow her to walk herself? She's still alive but just stone so it's kind of like being paralyzed.

Noravia's clumsiness was not helping matters as the two of them contemplated moving Shensen. Taking out a scroll, she read the divine words off the parchment and asked Milani to restore her dexterity.

Going to use a restoration scroll to get Noravia's Dex back.

The inquisitor felt much better but they still had the problem of how to move the heavy statue. "Should we get the others?"

Elsbeth will return to NPC role and help with the bodies.

Caleb shook his head. "Vandomir's good with stone, isn't he? Maybe he knows a way to shift this. I've no idea where we'd find someone to undo it - or even if it can be undone. Tillia might. Why don't we go grab them? I'm not keen on wandering around, but saving Shensen's worth it." He hesitates "She's the reason I'm here, in a way."

Noravia looked at Caleb curiously at his last statement. "Really? I didn't realize that you knew Shensen." The inquisitor's eyes glanced over at Thrune's head. "I always thought the reason was Thrune."

She waited to see if Caleb would explain himself before continuing. "Well, if Shensen is the reason you're here then she's the reason that we met. Therefore, helping her is our top concern because I'd like to thank her. Although I think you're right in that Vandomir may be our best bet in being able to move stone safely. We should get the others."

I'm Ok with Elsbeth going back to NPC status.

Also OK with bringing the party together to deal with Shensen but remember that Vandomir is out on vacation so don't expect input from him until next Monday.

I vote for using Octavio and his reinforcements to get Shensen out of the basement and back to one of our 'hideouts' until we can find someone high enough level to change her back.

Is there a ruling on my question of whether Freedom of Movement would work on Shensen?

We should probably deal with the hell hounds next.

Dunno about want after all this violence but I suppose we should deal with them.

"We should get the word to the streets quickly, before someone else beats us to it with a whole different message," Eirik suggested, throwing aside his loaned, blood-soaked glaive in disgust. "The Paracount is dead. We need the city to know this, and the events that led to his death. And we need to be ready to strike against those that might seek to grasp the reins of power, before they can get organized and secure the support of the other people in power. Our teams, I fear, shall sleep little this night."

I vote we get the propaganda machine working overtime immediately. Strike while the iron is how and all that. Once the city wakes in the morning, there shouldn't be anyone out there who doesn't know the Thrune is dead and that the fell ritual (sounds more catching than an idiotic plan to kill half his own noble supporters to somehow blame it all on the Ravens) he tried to complete here tonight has failed.

Female Human Inquisitor(Infiltrator)/10

I'm sure that Aasami and her team could take care of that for Eirik, no? She's probably happy that the monk still lives :) But yes, I think someone needs to start spreading the truth through Kintargo.
Although there were quite a few witnesses who've now gained their freedom. Since it's the most exciting/terrifying thing to ever happen to most of them, I'm sure they'll be telling all their friends and family what happened.

Turn 397 – Hellhound Pack

Read the OOC.

Game on!

Female Human Inquisitor(Infiltrator)/10

Action 2:

Eirik wrote:
Our teams, I fear, shall sleep little this night.”

Noravia nodded in agreement. "All the teams should be sent out whether it's their forte to spread news or not. The more people that know the true story, the harder it will be for the Asmodeans and others in charge to plant their own story. Aasami was here tonight along with Laria and Rexus. Surely they can organize the dissemination of information."

When Octavio returned with reinforcements, the Ravens had him focus on moving the statue of Shensen to one of the safehouses until they could help her. Noravia assured him that Elsbeth would help with dealing with the murdered citizens of Kintargo and making sure they were handled with care and dignity. "Perhaps one of the teams should focus on personally notifying the families of those slain by Thrune and his devils."

Action 3:

Before facing the pack of hellhounds again, Noravia once again aligned their weapons for good making sure that any attack made by Eirik, Vandomir, or herself were more effective against the foul beasts.

Noravia will cast align weapon, communal as her ability consumable.

Even though they were tired and battered from their earlier battles, they attacked the hellhound pack with a vigor that Noravia felt was divinely guided. Almost every attack they made found its mark whereas the hellhounds looked like graceless puppies only playing at fighting. When the melee ended, Noravia thanked Milani before following the others to continue their exploration.

Female Human Inquisitor(Infiltrator)/10

Action 1:

The ball's in Caleb's court but Noravia will add this...

Noravia finally gave up on trying to move Shensen and made sure Caleb quit as well before he pulled something. Realizing that they were alone, she took advantage of the situation and asked, "So...how are we going to celebrate Thrune's death? I assume that you have had something in mind after all these years and I'd like to be involved if you'll let me."

"She's a famous singer." Caleb explained. "Performed on the stage right here. Her words brought hope. They made me realise that I needed to work with others - I couldn't just lurk around by myself. That's why I came to the gathering that first day."

Caleb looked ecstatic, then depressed. "Brassy was THRUNE, but there's a whole family of them. Killing him might help - I certainly hope it will - but the city needs to be liberated, and that whole family needs to be killed, root and branch." he straightens a little "Brassy was the first. He won't be the last."
He turns back and flashes a smile "But I intend an epic celebration, when possible. I've a dash more gold for fun than I used to, and I intend to blow it all! I'd love to have you by my side!"

Action 3
Please cross off a spell for coin shot, and a spell for tenebrous magic missile.

Male Chelaxian Freedom Fighter / 9

Action 1

Hearing the summons to consider the Shensen problem, Vandomir gave up helping the others gather loot and heal the injured. He had tried finding arrows to replace the ones he had fired, and he had met with some success. He slung the bow over his shoulder, grabbed one of the magic glaves.

"Well, she likely weighs nearly four hundred pounds in this state," Vandomir opined rubbing his chin while he pondered how to move Shensen. "It is not the weight so much, any one or two of us could likely move her, particularly wearing that new belt we found. The problem comes with keeping her intact I expect." Vandomir begins gathering bits and pieces of the surroundings, curtains, ropes, broken banisters, and commences to try and create a sled for hauling Shensen that is quite well padded. "Well, now, if four of us, or maybe some of Octavio's men, feel up to hauling her, I think we can do so safely. Time enough to reverse the magic later, she is not growing any older."

Action 1
Tillia had headed to where the statue of Shensen was and arrived as Caleb and Noravia were speaking of celebrating and began to look at the statue as she ignored their discussion. She knew moving it wouldn't be easy and maybe even dangerous fro the woman, after all, if the statue got broken then there may be no way to bring her back to flesh and blood. "I think we would be better off not moving Shensen from this spot, it would be very bad if something happened and she was damaged in transit. The better solution would be to bring a cure to her." She considered a means of freeing the woman from her stone prison and finally said, "I know that a simple dispel magic won't do the job but there are some more powerful spells that could. Unfortunately I can't yet cast them. I don't think I'm far off from the power though, maybe I can learn how soon while we look for a way." Looking again at Shensen tillia finally said, "Leaving her here may not be the best plan though, if we can find a safe way to move her then lets do so."

Action 2
"I agree Noravia," Tillia nodded, "Have the teams spread the word and begin to notify the families of the dead about what really happened here."

Action 3
Squaring her shoulders as they prepared to face the hellhounds Tillia prepared a spell. When they opened the door the wizardess sent out a burst of negative emotion, fear, despair, hopelessness, and the hellhounds knew despair like no other. This made them all much easier to deal with and turned what would have been a minor nuisance into the squashing of a bug.

Cast crushing despair.
