Oh well, the thing seems to have a game plan but we are not included ;^) Now, this thing is sure to have some really annoying DR again, so I'm wondering if I should just use the first DR-ignoring attack and go silly with disarms and grapples with the follow-ups. Was the outsider still using a weapon? Let's try to get two attacks in to enable Rend, then use the last for a) Disarm if she has a weapon or b) Grapple is she don't.

Eirik groaned as the foul miasma assaulted his body and senses. 'This doesn't feel like a tactic employed by a celestial,' he thought as he put aside his discomfort and readied himself for battle for real. 'Perhaps the ladies were mistaken after all.' Still, just in case this creature was merely bound to servitude he would still make one attempt at limiting his aggression - he'd try to strike to stun, not to kill.

Rising from his defensive crouch, the monk slammed an open palm into the winged faerie's jaw, temporarily dazing her, then followed with a knee kick to her stomach before reaching out with his left hand to twist at her thumb to force her to drop her weapon.

Melee, flurry: 1d20 + 15 - 2 ⇒ (11) + 15 - 2 = 24 Ignores DR, let's use that fabulous DR 16 stunning fist here as well... it's bound to work EVENTUALLY on something
Melee, flurry: 1d20 + 14 - 2 ⇒ (10) + 14 - 2 = 22
Melee, disarm/grapple: 1d20 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (3) + 9 - 2 = 10 +9 for grapple, is she has a weapon the +9 changes to +15, but neither does exactly overwhelm. If she doesn't have a weapon out she can't very well AoO on the most-likely-failed grapple attempt, and Eirik's failed Disarms do not provoke thanks to his feat

Damage, flurry, nonlethal: 1d10 + 1d6 + 1 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (3) + (3) + 1 + 1 - 2 = 6
Damage, flurry, nonlethal: 1d10 + 1d6 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (10) + (3) + 1 - 2 = 12 DR applies, Eirik's attacks are magical, silver and cold iron at the moment
Damage, rend: 2d6 - 2 ⇒ (3, 1) - 2 = 2

Disbelieving illusions:

You need to physically interact with the illusion in order to try to disbelief it.

The only one to do so at this point is Eirik so he'll get a will save to disbelief.

Caleb froze for a moment as Noravia reasoned with the Devil. 'Enhanted? he wondered, and agreed with himself when the 'Erinyes' attacked. Caleb fell against the floor as the miasma tore into his soul. Desperately he fumbled to hold his concentration, then with a snarl simply unleashed hell against the devil-spawn.

I did actually, I sent the acid splash spell at her. She also did something that a Lyrakien couldn't, the negative energy thing, or whatever it was, and I would think that alone should be enough to trigger a second save for me at least since I had made, what I assume, was a high enough knowledge check to know what a Lyrakien was on the initial one. The test of disbelieving doesn't require physical interaction as written.

Saving Throws and Illusions (Disbelief) wrote:
Creatures encountering an illusion usually do not receive saving throws to recognize it as illusory until they study it carefully or interact with it in some fashion.

I wouldn't think that just talking to her would have triggered a second save, even when she started spouting out out words in infernal, but when she used a damaging ability that a good outsider couldn't I would think that interaction would trigger a new save, at least if my initial knowledge roll was high enough to know that much. If you still disagree I'll let it go, but I wanted to try and make my case first because it does change things for me quite a bit on how I would interact with the fight.

Tillia: you've convinced me in this case.

Her speaking in infernal and attacking with 'darkness' was a dead giveaway.

Everyone gets a will save (DC 10) to disbelief the illusion.

Those that made rolls after she cast her spell need not make those rolls again.

Seeing through the glamor finally Tillia called out, "It's an illusion, that's not what she really looks like! She's like that flying devil woman that R drove off!" At that particular moment Tillia realized just how much trouble they were in there was little that she could do to stop the devil and she knew it. "She's weak to holy weapons and electricity, and resistant to magic in gnereal. Oh, and watch out for her rope, she can entangle you with it magically."

If that is only two facts let me know, I'll add another one on a second post.

Knowing she had to do something Tillia decided it was time for a gamble. She chanted and spoke, her words flowing in an ancient tongue as she cast a spell.
SR: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
As she released her spell the wizard felt the magic push through the devil's natural resistance to such things and begin to layer over her mind. She then began to speak in an infernal tongue as she demanded, "Leave this place right now, return to your master and don't bother us again this night or you will be destroyed forever!" Her words were commanding and loud at the end of the spell. She knew that she couldn't banish the devil herself, she was going to have to look into a spell for that as soon as she could, she could only hope that the suggestion would work.

I am casting suggestion (dc 20 will negates). Here's hoping the suggestion is a "reasonable one".

Oh, and thank you for accepting my argument on the illusion. Speaking of which, everyone who does a new will save gets a +4 this time as you've been told it's an illusion.

Noravia was filled by righteous anger as the erinyes revealed itself for what it truly was. seeing that Eirik and Vandomir were in rough shape, not to mention that Caleb was within its reach, the inquisitor pushed her way forward to engage the devil. Infusing her morningstar with potent magic against outsiders, she brought the weapon down on the devil with the whole weight of her deity behind her.

Very quick post since the fubaring forum has messed up my schedule...

Staggering before another surge of foul miasma, Eirik strove to strike through the dark to reach the enemy within, but most of his blows were blunted by the creature's quick reflexes and otherworldly resistance.

Melee, flurry: 1d20 + 15 - 2 ⇒ (3) + 15 - 2 = 16
Melee, flurry: 1d20 + 14 - 2 ⇒ (14) + 14 - 2 = 26
Melee, flurry: 1d20 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (3) + 9 - 2 = 10

Don't know her AC but I doubt more than the middle thing hits and that does not ignore DC...

Damage, flurry, lethal: 1d10 + 1d6 + 1d4 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (5) + (5) + (3) + 1 - 2 = 12

I usually have PCs stabilize automatically so he won't die . Dying just means that he's below 0 hit points but stable.

However if the erinyes decides to do the same thing again and Vandomir is caught in that radius...

You can have the consumables listed in the 'status table' since they are all either potions and scrolls.

"Ves." commanded Caleb from the floor "Save the toff." Even as he spoke his fingers curled against the floor. Memories of the dark devil-fish he'd killed rose in his mind. Behind the Erinyes a ball of churning water manifested, floating inches of the floor. Silently it rushed forward, ripping ropes and props from the wall into a churning ball of death.
Free: command Ves
Standard: Cast Aqueous Orb. DC 18. Untyped spell damage. No spell resistance. Set it up 2 squares behind the Erinyes

An entangled character who attempts to cast a spell must make a concentration check (DC 15 + spell level) or lose the spell.

It'll stop her from casting without making a concentration check.

The nonlethal should get around her DR. I think it might also be continuing damage.

Vespula - once again a wasp, crawled from Caleb's skin and flew to the fallen noble. Desperately she buzzed against his skin, grappling for purchase, then zipped back to Caleb and warped into a large black-and-yellow striped spider.

The buzzing against Vandomir is just flavour text. She'll be above Caleb.

@Fabian: Given Caleb goes first, can we find out if he is entangled or not? I think it'll make a big difference to the round

Not sure how this will play out with Caleb's actions but...

Noravia's enslaught continued. She glared at the devil and said, "Looks like you're just a one-trick pony. Let's see how you like the taste of a weapon infused with good as well as a hatred for outsiders. It has quite a bite."

Having wanted to try and save this spell for later if it was needed Tillia decided that it was time. She saw Vandomir drop and the glared with hatred at the devil. "Alright you b~@!&! All of a sudden, from behind the devil woman's path so as not to affect her friends, Tillia's spell exploded into view as a colorful mass of brilliant sparkles. They clung to the flying devil, especially around her eyes, in a dazzling glitter of color.

I am casting Glitterdust (dc 18 will negates blindness) in the area behind the devil. The goal is to get her and not us in it.

"Well, now we know what's happening at midnight. Presumably all the different devils will attack at once. What's more dangerous, the Bone Devil, or the Bearded Ones? What do you 'edumacated'" Here Caleb affects a thick country accent for a word "type know about them."
Caleb looked over at Vandomir "Do we wait for him to give his evil orders, and then attack, or do we cut out the waiting and just try to straight up kill THRUNE now?"

Female Human Inquisitor(Infiltrator)/10

The Bane feature is a per round thing and the judgment was specific to the erinyes so it wouldn't carry over to the next baddie...so no hurry on Noravia's part.

Noravia disengaged her morningstar from the devil's skull and immediately switched gears from judgment to healing. She responded to Caleb's call, "On it." She moved to Vandomir's side and was encouraged that his breathing was steady albeit shallow. She thanked Milani for her power and strength and then she asked for her healing blessing. Noravia's hand began to glow faintly before the energy moved into the noble's body. The light seemed to push the darkness out of Vandomir, removing the worst of the unholy blight.

2 x CMW on Vandomir

Once the noble was alert again, Noravia turned her healing energies towards Eirik.

CMW on Eirik

She then pulled out the healing wand from where she had tucked it under her armor and moved over to Caleb. "That devil's evil seeped into you as well, didn't it. Let's get you blight-free. First you, then me."

She'll also use a few charges to top up Eirik and Vandomir

True but we only have CLW potions and Vandomir lost a lot of hps. Plus, the others can use potions on Noravia if she goes down. I guess my question is how you're handling healing when out of combat? Is it being rolled or do we assume max healing? If we can assume max healing then CLW would probably be sufficient. I'm good either way. I'm willing to leave it up to the GM's discretion and just deduct whatever resources from Noravia.

So good news and bad news...

The good news is that I'm going on vacation. :)

The bad news is that this game will be put on hiatus until I get back.

I'll be gone from Sunday 6/11 to Sunday 6/25 so my last regular post will be this Sunday morning (if someone makes a decision on where to go next; see below).

I expect to have internet access the first week (until 6/18) and I may be able to recap. However, do not sweat if you don't hear from me. You definitely will not hear from me between 6/18 to 6/25.

I hope the break does this game some good because we sort of lost momentum. I really want to get back to our previous posting rate of at least one post per day. If that's not possible then it may be time to replace players as needed or even fold the game and move on to something else.

As she contemplated the two types of devils Tillia thought of which would be the easiest to take down. She considered and remembered that the bearded devils had a vicious glaive that left difficult to heal wounds and had a beard that would lash you if you got too close and carried a nasty disease called devil chills that weakened it's victim's strength. The bone devil had a vicious stinger that injected a poison which lessened one's strength and radiated an aura of fear. She looked to her companions and said, "Both types are dangerous, the bone devil has a poisoned stinger and emits an aura of fear while the bearded devils can use their glaive to cause vicious and hard to heal wounds as well as a beard that lashes at those who get too close and carries a disease that will weaken a person's strength. I think the bearded one's are the greater threat given their numbers and should be dealt with now if at all possible. With them out of the way there would be less danger to the crowd and we could focus on containing the dottari if needed while we took on the bone devil to buy people time to flee. If we have time after the bearded devils I would try to thin out the number of dottari."

All out of character below here:
I would have tried to post at work but the site I use to look up creatures and such isn't available on the lap tops in the breakroom. I just got home about 15 minutes ago and started typing once I did.

Have a good vacation in case we don't see you between now and the time you come back.

Also, is it safe to say that the general devil traits that all devils share, namely the things under the devil sub type description, are known as well?

Yes, you have fought enough devils to know the general sub type descriptions.

I'll set up the bearded devil fight...

Male Human Monk (unchained) 11

Happy holidays, Fabian. Since I'm away for a long weekend myself I'll take the opportunity and post later... but just that I won't forget, this seems like a good opportunity to activate Barskin Ki power. The mask and long robes should mask the alteration well enough.

Female Human Inquisitor(Infiltrator)/10

I know it'll wait until Fabian gets back home but if I don't write this up, I may forget to do what Noravia can to buff.

Action 1:

Before the door was opened, Noravia said numerous prayers to Milani for the goddess' protection and blessing. Knowing that herself and Eirik would be fighting up close with the devils, she spoke specific words of warding over them. She also included Caleb because she couldn't stand the idea of something adverse happening to him.

For those with weapons she magically enhanced their alignment to be true to Milani so that they could better fight against evil.

Finally she spoke words of blessing over the group of them so that they wouldn't so easily be swayed by the evil they were about to face.

Sadly I only have 5 1st level spells so I can't cast Protection from Evil on everyone and also cast Bless. Therefore, casting Protection from Evil on Noravia, Eirik, and Caleb. I figure that Vandomir and Tillia will be fighting via ranged attacks so they shouldn't be vulnerable to physical attacks. Also casting align weapon, communal - 3min Eirik, 3min Vandomir, 2min Noravia.
