The hag is floating about 30 feet up, over the water instead of the deck. She scowls down at the group as blood trickles down her seaweed-covered figure in droves.

She's getting away! Probably! Also, Reijo still has an action for this turn, so I'll give him the rest of the day to chime in before continuing.

RPG Superstar 2015 Top 32

With a sudden and extraordinarily rude gesture, the hag drops from the air and plummets into the dark waters below. As the gentle waves lap over the spot where she vanished, the angry little fishies give up on their endless hunger and attempt to flop towards the sides of the ship.

A strange quiet falls over the ship. The deck lays half-covered with a ruined sailed and splattered with blood of humans, hags, and fish. The empty rowboat the hag arrived in bobs gentle beside the Magpie Princess. Signs of the battle are evident on each of you... but most clearly on the unconscious Nhati.

Fight's pretty much over, unless you feel the need to mop up the fish before they flop overboard.

Ol' Salty is used to deadly battles. Not with hags and flying razor fish, mind you, but deadly battles all the same. Wasting no time, nor sigh of relief, the old sailor goes about making sure no one is bleeding too heavily. He promises everyone some magical healing in the morning, before passing out on the deck from exhaustion.

The barbaric pirate continues to ignore the blood trickling from his wounds as he yells a throaty war cry. Swiftly, in a desperate last attempt to take the creature's life, he casts his boarding axe at her... but it goes wide.

Grunting as the thought of losing his fine axe to the ocean sets in, he dives into the waters to retrieve it. Once back on deck, his scowl is unmovable, even by the sight of ever-smiling Suny.

The moody sailor begins to bind up his own wounds, using torn bits of the shredded sail in silent ragefulness. The thought of repairing it makes him even more sour, if that's even humanly possible.

Only then, after his own wounds are bound, does he look around to see if the others are okay.

The others might notice that blood continues to ooze into the fresh sail-bandages, however, dripping to the deck. Apparently, canvas does not make a very effective bandage, and neither does rageful blood-pumping help any...

Stop the bleeding? Nope...

Still feeling the worst for wear after the fight's adrenaline has worn off Suny slumps down for a moment before moving to help Nhati and any one else. She also looks about.

Looking at Bellamy, whom she saw hovering over her holding a potion, she says, "Thanks -- I believe it was you who saved my life?"

Looking around, she says, "I wonder what would have happened to this ship if we hadn't been here? Hopefully captain Redclaw will be happy she hired us. Unless that attack came because we were here...."

@Reijo et al - You can take 10 on binding up your wounds since you're in no particular rush or anything right now.

The dark waters surround Reijo as he fishes for his axe, and you swear you feel the vicious eyes of the hag glaring at you the whole time. Perhaps not wishing to push her luck, the quick dive turns up his axe and he returns to the water's surface without further event.

As he climbs back aboard the Magpie Princess, however, Reijo makes an interesting discover. In addition to the rowboat now sitting empty at the side of the ship, another sides at the aft end... just below the captain's quarters. Even in the dim moonlight, it appears as though one of the windows is open...

Suny follows Reijo up to the ship's stern and peers over the side into the water... where another rowboat bobs gently below an open window.

@Reijo - It would not be a particularly difficult climb, since there's plenty of ropes and other dangly bits on these ships to climb around on. Though the option of opening the door is also perfectly viable.

@All - I've added a map of the Magpie Princess at the top and will probably remove the Lilywhite map after you officially set sail from Motaku Isle. You haven't gotten the official tour, so I'm leaving it unlabeled for now... but it should be pretty obvious what's where for most ship-going folks. Fair warning, though: I'm still opposed to drawing and updating battlemaps for rounds of combat because that's way too much work ^_^

Also, Viktorra has two first and two second level spells plus some fervor charges she can throw around to help heal people up... does anyone want any?

Reijo hears someone rustling through the cabin before he sees anything. Suny, listening at the Captain's door, hears the same--if muffled by the rather nice door Lanteri has put there. "Miserable disorganized woman..." In the moonlit light of the chamber, the figure is hard to identify until he takes a single step closer. As the silhouette shifts, you catch sights of the feathers and beak that are unmistakable for a tengu. A pair of ragged-looking halflings stand somewhat closer, a man and a woman. While the fellow digs through what appears to be Captain Lanteri's clothing, the woman's eyes settle on Reijo.

"Boss," she says simply. The tengu turns, obviously frustrated. The halfling simply points, and he follows her gaze to meet Reijo's eyes.

The tengu whips a rapier from his belt, its shimmering point directed at Reijo's window. "By Bloody Besmara... Guess we'll just do this the hard way!"

As Nhati pops in to share her thoughts, it's clear that the tengu is somewhat conflicted by this turn of events. With the burglars distracted by the naked elf, Reijo takes the opportunity to swiftly climb into the room and move in. Drawing his cutlass in one hand and a bloodied bandage from his fish-bitten leg in his other as he moves in to flank with Suny, he hollers loudly at the tengu.

"What's between the cap'n and me is my busi-"

Reijo's words reach the bird and he whirls around, only to get a faceful of dripping bandages. He scrambles to get the rag off his head while his allies draw their bows and, standing near the southern wall of the cabin, launch a pair of arrows at Reijo. One goes wide--straight out the window--but the other manages to nick Reijo's arm.

Reijo takes 4 points of damage! (Also, I'm not 100% sure but I'd rule that flanking counts on combat maneuvers. Several can be substituted for attack actions in flurries and things, so it makes sense?)

Behind the immovable Suny, Bellamy starts belting out an inspirational tune while Nhati and Ol' Salty provide a bit of magical defense for the party against the bird-brain and his friends.

Viktorra, still feeling a little woozy from the previous fight, draws her blade and runs up behind Suny. Although equally anxious to impale the bird they'd been warned about--and who was claiming Besmara's blessing to do so!--she didn't want to knock her allies out of the way. Instead, she took the moment to call on some Besmaran blessings of her own, letting the spirit of war guide her blows.

Hyrix rips the cloth from his face, tossing it to the ground. With a very birdy growl of disapproval, he lifts his rapier and levels it Reijo's chest. Arcane energy flows through the tengu's arm and into the blade before he takes a quick quarter-step around Reijo--moving closer to his allies and further from Suny and Vik.

Suny flinches a little and winces as Nhati's spell 'Zzzatts' into the cabin's walls or furniture before skipping forwards and swinging at the Tengu.

RPG Superstar 2015 Top 32

GM Info Tracker:

Hyrix 36/36 (5 NL)
Ellara 14/14
Elodin 6/14

GM Rolls:

Sword: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 4 + 2 = 14
Sword: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 4 + 2 = 25
Dmg: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Crit?: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 4 + 2 = 13

From the safety of the doorway, Nhati launches a scorching ray across the tiny cabin. For a brief second, the beam of fire illuminates the cabin with dancing shadows before it misses the bird by a hairsbreadth and instead scars a blackened spot beside the window...

Bolstered by allies' magic and song, Suny leaps into the cabin and unleashes a flurry of (probably) not-quite-as-lethal blows at the tengu. Hyrix ducks towards the wall, trying to evade, the blows, but only succeeds in ensuring both blows hit. They thump off his shoulder as he thunks against the cabin wall, then brings his blade to bear against the elf. He narrows his eyes, parlay not even close to on the mind.

I just used your last set of rolls since that involved the least scrolling up :)

Reijo dives past the tengu towards the halflings at the southern wall, but Ol' Salty leaps (as leap-y as the old fellow ever gets, at least) in to replace him. Though flanked against the wall, the tengu's eyes dart between the small gaps left by his attackers and the open window...

Positioning himself so that neither of the halflings can get far enough from him to properly use their bows, Reijo swings wildly at the nearest of them--the one who'd managed to hit him. Unfortunately, the short man ducks shorter and the blade goes over his head.

Tossing aside their bows, both halflings draw their blades. Though small, the steel glitters in the moonlight that drifts through the window. Stepping around the pirate, the two halflings move away from the wall just far enough to flank him, then quickly put their positioning to use to sink a single blade into Reijo's thigh.

Reijo takes 4 points of damage!

While the tengu might have been the bigger threat, Viktorra sees Reijo take yet another hit from the halflings. Plus, nonlethal takedowns were pretty far from her specialty. Charging through the Captain's cabin with only the briefest consideration to plunder the room herself, she runs up beside Reijo and flanks one of the halflings. Her rapier sinks into the halfling's flank and draws a gout of blood from the tiny man.

RapierAtk: 1d20 + 9 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 9 + 1 + 1 = 25
Dmg: 1d6 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 5 + 1 = 8

As Hyrix glares at Suny, his eyes flash with a sudden arcane light. He takes a quick step forward, moving to impale her upon his rapier, while his free hand flashes with a beam of light rivaling Nhati's own!

GM Rolls, part two:

Concentration-Defensive: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25
RapierAtk: 1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (20) + 8 - 2 = 26
RapierCrit: 1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (19) + 8 - 2 = 25
Concealment20: 1d100 ⇒ 32
ScorchingRayAtk: 1d20 + 6 - 2 ⇒ (20) + 6 - 2 = 24
ScorchingRayCrit: 1d20 + 6 - 2 ⇒ (9) + 6 - 2 = 13
Concealment20: 1d100 ⇒ 65

O_O Is this... is this for real?

RapierDmg: 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (3, 1) + 2 = 6
ScorchingRayDmg: 8d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 2, 6, 6, 3, 1, 2) = 26

The display of arcane prowess catches Suny entirely unaware (she is, after all, still hoping diplomacy will prevail). The rapier sinks into her gut as the blast of fire rushes over her head. In a single instant, the world goes black...

I don't know how much HP Suny's at right now... but that's 32(!!) damage headed her way... Please don't be dead ;.;
