On their way to the helm, Reijo does a double take at Vik. "Hmpf. Lookin' good, Queenie. Ye done somethin'... diff'rent?" Looking her up and down, "Yer hair perhaps?"

On the poop deck, Reijo's attention shifts to the ship's artist. He smiles back at Belina, and risks a wink. "Aye, an' what a lovely lass fer an artist we have the fortune of workin' with. Reijo's me name."

As the melody unfolds, the sailor in red's eyes look athwart. The look he gave Vik and then Belina is now duplicated a third time to something there. His tense body relaxes and his pupils dilate... the sailor walks with the lightness of a feather, making his way to the side of the ship that Suny just leaped into...

Round 1
Ini Order: Viktorra, the beastie, Reijo and the other Crew, Bellamy, Nhati, Ol' Salty, and then Suny.

No surprise round, the sudden musical 'attack' is enough of a surprise!

Viktorra wastes no time playing about with the sound of any beast's music, leaping to action and racing down to the waist deck. She raises her pistol and waits for the beast to close the distance just a hair...

Which it does. It swoops down towards the yardarm, hovering with its powerful wings just beyond the reach of the rigging while it continues its haunting song. At a distance of perhaps only thirty feet, Viktorra calls it good enough. The report of her pistol resounds across the ocean, daring the song itself to battle, but the shot itself goes wide.

The bird-woman turns her attention to Viktorra, scowling with disapproval, before laying her eyes upon the navigator Belina. Already distracted...

Belina Will: 1d20 ⇒ 3

...her eyes glaze over even more as she looks upon the winged beauty. She steps away from the wheel, which immediately begins to careen to the side...

Several other crew members begin to leave their posts, shuffling towards the starboard side of the ship and gazing up at their host.

Bellamy joins the others on deck, easily shaking off the strange music--though he cannot see where exactly it's coming from. He hears a number of sailors walking off towards starboard, and the ship seems to be beginning a slow turn.

Ol' Salty:

Though you don't know any specifics (that would require Arcana), you've heard more than enough legends of the sea to put two and two together. Sudden music near towering stone pillars in the middle of the sea and now the sound of frantic action out on the waist deck? It could only be a siren.

Suny, perhaps in an effort to give her old friend a big hug, leaps straight off the rigging and into the sea below.

Nhati still has her round 1 actions, but the rest of you can start posting round 2 actions if you'd like.

"By the Gods..." Trembled Ol' Salty in fear. If there was anything more terrifying to the old man than a siren, he did not know it.

Feeling the ship beginning to make a slow turn, and hearing the splashes of men falling into the water, Ol' Salty hardened. This was a fight to the death.

The old man gathered his courage and lay a hand on Lil' Fisher. "It be time, lad. Let us go." And so the two stepped forward onto the dock.

@Suny - Alright, I'll buy that. You and Reijo are still down in the water and your Round 1 actions were eaten up doing a whole lot of nothing (well, jumping and swimming), but you've got most of your senses back about you. Unfortunately for Reijo the waters are a little rougher on those of you without natural swim speeds, with a Swim DC of 15.

Round 1 Wrap-up

As both Nhati and Tai seem equally entranced by the lovely winged woman (perhaps the feathered of the pair even without the aid of magic), Ol' Salty comes charging out onto the deck, his eyes pinned to the careening wheel.

With a remarkable haste from the old sailor, he bounds up onto the poop deck and grabs hold of the rudder, pulling the ship back onto course and away from the jagged rocks scraping up alongside it. Lil' Fisher leaps to the bell, and sounds out a warning that resonates through the entire ship. While many of the sailors on deck are still trying to keep the ship pointed straight, those that can draw blades and make their intent clear. As all eyes turn towards the siren, those not fully enchanted by her beautiful song watch as she bares pointed teeth in scorn. Her song shifts, including a few lyrics in the lofty language of the skies...

Nhati (and Tai), Viktorra:

You're not really sure why people are drawing swords and shouting so much, but it looks like they're about to start fighting with your old friend! You know how much of a shame it would be if she got hurt--and worse, it might leave a permanent scar! It would only be right of you to try and stop them from hurting each other. After all, aren't you all friends here?

Round 2 Start
Ini Order: Viktorra, the beastie, Reijo and the other Crew (charmed and otherwise), Bellamy, Nhati, Ol' Salty, and then Suny.

As Suny and Reijo pop their heads back above the water and get a good breath of fresh air, a strange fog falls over them. They remember... hearing a song, which now appears to be coming from the bird-woman above them. They also distinctly remember being on the ship. Somewhere up on deck, Ol' Salty is shouting about a siren and the ship's bell is ringing quite alarmingly...

The enchanted crewmen make a beeline for the forecastle, clambering up the stairs and forming something of a living wall between the siren and the rest of the ship. Worse, they've all drawn their weapons and look ready to defend her with their lives. Belina stands at the center of them, taking a position of command over the siren's new battalion as they blockade the stairs.

Yamtisy stands below, cutlass in hand, growling orders at the disobedient sailors. Though she's wrapped her bandanna over her ears, she starts to grow quiet as the siren's song grows more and more directed at her...

Down in the water, Suny manages to grab hold of a few errant ropes hanging from the side of the ship and hold on as it enters its next maneuver. You'll need some climb checks to get yourselves out of the water!

Meanwhile, up on the deck, it seems a fight is going in full force. Sailors shout back and forth at one another, apparently in defense of the flying critter that just landed up near the bow.

Fortunately, Bellamy's celestial eagle appears out of nothingness, swooping in from the aether between world to deliver a pair of nasty talons to the birdy siren.

Vik switches modes and drops her pistol for the much more traditional crossbow. She charges to the base of the forecastle's stairs and levels the weapon at the siren...

Only for one of the sailors to willingly throw himself in front of the bolt! Taking soft cover to a whole new level of pain, the sailor drops to a knee, clutching his new wound as the siren behind grins with a sadistic admiration for the pirate's heroics.

The fact that he's boarding the very ship he just fell (jumped) off of is a lost irony in the midst of the battle. Round 3

Nearly slipping back into the waters below, the angry sailor climbs back down to the side of the ship. There, he hangs along the side of the ship from raised boards running front to back. With axe in one hand to dig securely into the wooden hull, the other grabs for his next careful step.

He climb sideways, towards the forecastle...

Double move, climbs 7.5 of 50 or 60 ft.:
Climb #1: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 6 + 2 = 12 no progress
Climb #2: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 6 + 2 = 22 move 7.5 ft.

I assume this is a DC 15 at most? Otherwise, Reijo's doing something else instead...

RPG Superstar 2015 Top 32

@Reijo - correct, DC 15. It was a DC 20 to get out of the water, though.

As Reijo slowly but surely makes his way closer to the ship's bow (and Suny as close behind as she can manage), the siren turns her full attention to the group resisting her charms on the waist deck. With a wave of a winged arm, she urges Yamtisy to go and bark orders as she always does.

The half-orc bosun obliges her new best friend, shouting at the top of her lungs. The pirates begin filing down the stairs on either side, swords at the ready as they move their wall forward.

Meanwhile, Bellamy's eagle friend gets in a bird-fight with the siren. Though only one talon lands this time, it earns the siren's full ire as she turns on it with her own talons and rends it from the sky. The beautiful celestial eagle fades back into the aether from which it came...

The blinded pirate beside Viktorra continues to have issues with the golden dust covering his head, while high above you can hear the sound of Xosrov steadily cranking his heavy crossbow to full draw.

As another spray of glittering dust coats a second part of the deck, the siren lifts a winged arm just in time to avoid getting a faceful of blinding dust. The pirates guarding her, however, are not so fortunate. Four of them meet the glittering cloud of dust face-first and immediately regret this decision. One of the unfortunates is the not-quite-herself navigator Belina, who stumbles back against the bulwark as she tries to clear her eyes.

Facing the front of the ship, the top of right staircase is now full of blinded sailors. They should be considerably easier to pass through, if you felt so inclined.

Even worse, Tai seems decidedly unhappy with Nhati's sudden change of heart. Tai digs his feet in until they're on the verge of drawing blood, squawking a mixture of angry parrot and angry Polyglot.

Ol' Salty calls forth the mighty spirit merman, wielding the trident of Gozreh as it rushes across the deck, then straight up onto the forecastle at the siren. The bird flaps frantically, ducking back towards the bowspirit just far enough to avoid becoming a shishkabob.

Viktorra still has round 3 action available and she's first up in the next round.

Perhaps because of the whims of fate, the forgetfulness of the gods, or just some bad luck, Bellamy's color spray takes a hair longer to spring froth from the realm of magic than it should. And then it takes several hairs longer.

Thumping his fist against the bottom of the stairwell seems to do the trick, though, as a blast of color catches three of the sailors on the left staircase... and takes them all out. They fumble sideways, blinded and stunned, barely able to keep on their feet at all.

Of all her newfound allies, the only one still standing in fighting condition is the grumpy Yamtisy... and she doesn't look particularly happy about this. (Well, and Tai.)

And with that, both stairs are clear of overtly hostile pirates! You'll still have to shove on past them, but none of them are in particularly good fighting shape.

Hearing the commotion of the wall of pirates lapse, Reijo peeks over the edge of the deck to see most of the bedazzled crew stunned and staring off blindly.

Viktorra barrels up the stairs after seeing the stairs clear, though her steps fall strangely silent in the radius of her magic. The siren's eyes go wide as her voice suddenly stops working. You can see her frantically trying to urge song to her lips, but failing. A moment too late, she seems to grasp the gravity of this development.

At that moment, Viktorra's blade meets feathered beast, striking true and piercing through flesh. Blood slickens her blade as she draws back, keeping close to the siren to limit its movement, and puts a second dire gash through her.

Beside her, Yamtisy barks orders at her--orders lost in the silence, though her rage is evident even without the accompanying noise.

The siren looks to her incapacitated allies, then to the warpriest before her, then to the charging Reijo barreling up the stairs. She glances over her shoulder, then turns and runs a half-dozen paces up the bowspirit, flapping frantically as she takes to the air...

The siren drops her song and takes a full withdrawal action to take to the skies, headed roughly for where you'd guess she's nesting.

... but all the wing in the world can't stop a well-aimed blast of magic. Nhati's missiles arc through the air, powered perhaps by a sense of karma, and sear through the feathers on the back of the siren. She careens sideways, then flops from the air and into the waves.

Aaaand then she plops down in the water somewhere between the Magpie Princess and her nesting pillar.

Which is all well and good, except that the ship rapidly approaches another of the limestone pillars, and someone's got to haul her around these things...

You've got two turns to get this boat back on course and around the next obstacle with a successful DC 20 Prof(sailor) or similar check at the wheel.

Bellamy:

Strangely, you hear almost nothing of the battle anymore. You can't hear the song, you can't hear the siren, you can't even hear your friends (and former friends) charging up or defending the stairs... but suddenly you hear the sound of oversized wings, an arc of magic, and a great splash.

Tai:

With the pretty bird lady's song suddenly gone, you just now realize that you've been clawing your best friend. That's odd. She feeds you. How can you not like her better? That bird lady never fed you. You're pretty sure she never even talked to you. What a rude bird lady.
