oooh, are we doing RP in the recruitment thread? Finally got done adapting Willem - gave up on keeping him to a light load (38 lbs!) and just went for the Muleback Cords in the end...
A young man walks over from the corner, where he's been entertaining the crowd with some raucous tales of Cayden Cailean's exploits - curiously, in his version of the stories, the Lucky Drunk is a youth with blond curls and green eyes; a coincidence, surely, that this matches his own description. Dressed as he is in fine clothing of red, green and yellow, with broad-brimmed hat (complete, of course, with an outrageous peacock plume), he looks calculated to draw attention. It would be easy to dismiss him as a fop, but for the evident wear on the hilt of his fine rapier; and a certain wariness around the eyes.
He chuckles as he watches Suny playing with the otter. "Cute - and the pet isn't bad either." He flashes a broad smile, designed to be disarming, and bows, sweeping his hat off his mop of blond curls as he does so. "Willem is my name, but everyone seems to call me 'Kid', can't imagine why..." Another grin, and a flash of white teeth: he can't be any older than 16 or so, surely (although maybe there's a hint of something around the eyes that suggests otherwise). His nickname is evidently appropriate. He continues "I seem to have come into some coin, perhaps I might stand you a round of drinks? Or maybe more, if you like." Another friendly wink, and a bow towards the others - even more extravagant, if possible, than the first one. "And your friends, of course! Glad to make your acquaintance."

"Bloody'ell if I knows," the frowning pirate answers Viktorra as he looks in dismay at the goblin tickling. "Me's thinkin' I be gettin' a fine shag a moment ago. But all me knows now is, me needs a stiff drink..."
"A bottle o'rum, mate." Reijo places a few coins down for the barkeep.
"Well, least there be rum. I'll take one as well." Viktorra hands the barkeep coins too, then turns to Reijo and holds a hand out. "The name's Viktorra. And yours?"

Ol' Salty remained on the bench for a little longer. During that time, he pulled out his journal and quill, and began to draw Sunny playing with Lil Fisher. He whistled a little shanty that he learned from his father long ago, and felt at peace. Below his drawing, he wrote the following passages, recounting his experiences so far that day.
The goblin nearby however I do not trust. I'm quite surprised that the creature has managed to get past the guards without getting killed. I've got my trusty dagger at my side just in case, and I've still got enough spells today if need be. So far he hasn't done anything to be alarmed about, but I'll keep my eye on him.
Goblin notwithstanding, it's quite relaxing here, a good change from life at sea. The breeze is cool, but gentle, and all the sounds of merriment gives me peace of mind.
There was a young lass here not too long ago, never got her name though. A pity, as she was quite the sight, and had the sealegs to boot. I expect I'll see her later during the festivities, as no sailor worth his/her salt would miss a celebration of Cayden Cailean.
Oh and a new face as well. A young lad, he probably just reached adulthood. I saw him not long ago recounting some... misguided tales of the Lucky Drunk. Must be some inexperienced bard with a passion for the mirror *and he gives a little chuckle*. Can't blame him too much, though, as even when I was his age I didn't have a head of hair so vibrant. If he's willing to share a drink with the rest of us, I'd be happy to oblige. Quite a start to the day, I must say. I look forward to what awaits us as the day progresses.
"G'd mornin' to ya young Willem, I could use a good drink if you're willing t'elp an ol' man. Two months of grog is 'ard on the ol pipes, believe you me. If you're interested, I would be glad to talk to you about your renditions of Cayden Cailean. What say you?"
"Come now, lil Fisher, and your new friend too. What be your name, young elf? Hopefully somethin I can pronounce haha."

Willem makes a slightly rueful face as Suny ignores him, before seeing the funny side of it: "It's not every day I lose out to an otter for the attention of a girl!" he chuckles.
At Ol' Salty's remarks, he flashes a smile: "It would be my privilege to buy you a drink, Father - and yes, I freely admit my skill is in the telling of the tale, rather than the knowing of the facts... I'm sure you have the knowing of it better than I do. I'd gladly hear your thoughts. If you're off the grog, perhaps some elf-wine? Or a Chelish brandy? Wouldn't mind a change from grog myself, been sailing the last fifty - I mean fifteen... months or more."
Willem is fairly sure that he was a school lad when this old man was barely a gleam in his father's eye, but he's long ago learned that no one believes him. Sometimes he doesn't believe it himself.

Marithal "Mari" Seafoam
Female Undine Druid(Undine Adept) 4 | [Chaotic Neutral]
Marithal grew up in a small Undine settlement. She allways had a strongerconnetion with the sea than most Undines, which naturaly lead to her being traind as an Adept, but she was too unsteady to serve her comunity in that funktion. so one day she decided to leaf her village on a merchant vessal. she realy liked traveling the sea, but disliked the strikt struckures on Merchant vessels. Ariving in Lilywhite, after some adventures including pirate attacks, Marithal decided to get drunk(its Rum Punch festival after all :) )and hire on a pirate ship.
Marithal is a young Undine with light blue skin, eyes with the color of the stormy sea and turquoise hair (with a hairstyle that looks like seawead)

After sitting for a few moments Mari and contemplating, if she should get herself a Drink, introduce herself or just sit there and watch, she deciedes to get some Rum and itroducing herself: "I am Marithal, but most people just call me Mari."

On hearing the Kid announce a free round of drinks, Reijo immediately slams his palm on top of the coins he just placed before the barkeep. Returning them to his own belt pouch and eyeballing him suspiciously, the seasoned sailor nearly manages to thank the young man for his generosity... which would be a first for the gruff sailor, "Aye, Blondie Boy. Rum fer me it be!"
To Viktorra, he ignores her polite gesture, but answers her question. "Aye, Queenie. I be Reijo. Cap'n Reijo but fer the 'nfrequent postin' o'th'geemm an' them bloody disappearin' play'rs sinkin' me brigantine to the bottom o'Besmara's frigid oggin..." He takes a swig of rum as he then looks off in the distance.
Eyeballing the goblin with suspicion now, he asks aloud, "Whats the deal with Ratty over thar? He be lookin' like somethin' I be findin' and killin' in me bilges." Another swig of rum.
Looking at Ol' Salty, Reijo looks back to Bellamy with a smirk and suggests, "Eh, Blindey! It be another crotchety ole fogey t'keeps ye company! Ye can chat 'bout the good ole days and the woes o'yer limp belayin' pins." And another swig of rum.

He turns around to his otter, Lil Fisher, who can't stop playing with the elf. He grins mischievously and whispered "watch this" to Willem before he cupped his hands and shouted "FRESH MILK!!!"
Without warning, Fisher jumped into the air and raced eagerly straight to the tavern. Ol' Salty was laughing the entire time.
Ol' Salty sits down next to Willem on his right, with Reijo on his left. He keeps tabs on his empathetic link to Fisher, who was drinking milk with such gusto that a few of the customers started buying him more. Ol' Salty always knew that Fisher was a very sociable otter, but today was especially the case. He then mingled with his new acquaintances, talking about Cayden Cailean with Willem, and seafaring with Reijo.

Bellamy turned his head in Reijo's general direction and gave a gap toothed grin.
"Hee! Sounds like a man with his head on straight Reijo boy!" He shot back, taking another swig of rum afterward.He patted the belaying pin he had sheathed in his belt.
"And me belayin' pin be hard and straight thank 'ee very much! Wanna touch it, jes ta make sure? Hee hee hee!"
He sways just enough to duck Reijo's inevitable backhand, almost as if he knew it was coming.

The deadline was today and Helio said he would eventually extend it because of the power outages.
Also give the person some space, looking at so many character entries and then deciding on whom to take and whom to declince is a tough job. First there is a lot of reading, then a lot of comparing and then you have to make decisions. This takes some time.
Patience and the ability to stick are key qualifications in PbP ;)

I've actually never played in a PbP, so this experience should help get me started!
As to Reijo's attentions, I believe that Viktorra isn't attracted to men in that way. Maybe from her treatment of them, maybe because of something else. I just don't imagine her with a man.
Actually had a typical "royal" girlfriend in the works, but wasn't sure how much that would be accepted, and didn't wanna start anything.
Plus, I've been selected already. Having that big of a story change might be a bad thing.
Unless the DM would let me add that aspect in?
So, she should present a challenge!
