Gimble, The Storyteller |
Sarsczek motions to the party and moves into the room. The lizardfolks' conversation comes to an abrupt hault at the sight of the intruders.
Surprise Round! Everyone take your action. I'll roll initiative after everyone's finished their surprise round actions. (Reason being, I'm away from my computer until tomorrow.)
Sarsczek |
Unnvar the Solemn |
When Sarsczek gives the signal, Unnvar rushes into the room, first squeezing through the narrow opening, as he clears it he bursts with great speed right between the flat-footed foes, arriving at the rooms exit and standing between them and the rest of the complex, blocking there escape.
I guess if they have combat reflexes this might hurt.
Gimble, The Storyteller |
I'm ignoring the diplomacy for now.
Unnvar speeds into the room and seals off the far exit, August trods his way to the narrow openning, and Sarsczek moves in just past the 2 lizardfolk.
@Unnvar: These definitely look like more Strength based guards than Dexterity based.
Need Surprise Round actions from Owyn, Clandelve, and Elaqis
Elaqis Teletaire |
Elaqis Teletaire wrote:Hearing scuffling ahead, Elaqis hurries forwards, Amar in tow. {Draconic}"Lay down your arms! We're not here for you, we're here for the Aspis!"Go ahead and make a diplomacy check.

diplomacy: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (15) + 19 = 34
Gimble, The Storyteller |
At Sarsczek's words, the lizardfolk seem to be readying themselves even more for battle, but as Elaqis moves in his calm, even tone seems to ease them of your presence . . .somewhat, though they're still holding their ground with their weapons out.

Unnvar the Solemn |
Unnvar not dropping his guard will, make a sign with his hands for the lizardfolk to surrender and stay clam. Palms down with an up and down motion slowly. Total Defense for now
Elaqis Teletaire |
Elaqis continues to step through the narrow tunnel. Seeing Unnvar and the lizrdfolk standing firm but not yet to blows, the gnome continues.
{Draconic} "We saw some of your tribe at the Dog Tomb, where the Aspis were making them steal valbales as tribute in exchange for keeping the eggs unharmed. That is wrong - blackmail is bad. So we captured the Aspis, and the other lizardfolk told us the rest were here, as are your eggs."
"The smooth-skins with the serpent badges are our enemies as well as yours. We are trying to get to them, force them out of this place. Once they are gone, your eggs will be safe too. We have no quarrel with you lizardfolk, and would rather not have to fight. I know you may be worried about the Aspis breaking your eggs if you fight back, so you do not need to fight with us. But if you let us through, we won't need to harm you and we'll be stronger when we try to save the eggs? May we have a truce?"
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (5) + 19 = 24
As he rasps out the situation to the seprentfolk, both hands open and raised, Elaqis also quickly says to the other Pathfinders in Common. "Remember, let's not attack first. They're not the real problem here."
Amar N'Ugnuna |
Amar, having a better memory of the times his master's confidence in his own tongue was misplaced, stands behind his bonded partner and readies to punch (claw) any lizardfolk that would seek to attack the gnome.
Sarsczek |
Sarsczek keeps his senses clear... his throbbing head from yesterday still getting the better of his disposition.
Sarsczek will attempt to use sense motive to keep his guard up in the event that Elaqis's tongue fails him. Not having any real way to lay down his weapons, he'll settle for closing his mouth.
Sense Motive+Study: 1d20 + 11 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 11 + 2 = 14
Hah, looks like I'll be flat footed from now until eternity!
Owyn Moravic |
Sorry, long weekend.
Surprise Round: Owyn calls out from the back of the party, hissing in draconic "Indeed, we are here to help! We come to aid you in your time of need, not make war upon you!"
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (15) + 15 = 30
Gimble, The Storyteller |
At Elaqis's and Owyn's words, the lizardfolk lower their weapons.
Out of initiative
Unnvar the Solemn |
Seeing that the parties strange draconic words must have worked, he makes an affirmative nod to the lizardfolk and moves on into the next room silently looking for traps and foes alike.
Perception: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (11) + 17 = 28 +4 for traps
Stealth: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (8) + 14 = 22
Sarsczek |
"...sooooo you're not gonna hit me on da head?"
Sarsczek turns his head back and forth, then smiles and follows Unnvar.
"Okay!"
He crouches back into scouting position and resumes his duties.
Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (11) + 11 = 22 +3 for traps
Stealth: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30
Elaqis Teletaire |
{Draconic} "Understood, understood. I wouldn't want to risk them either. Are you the only non-smooth skins ahead? Or are there other of your tribe we should try not to harm?"
August Autumnwind |
August looks around, wondering what happened to the fight. He then shrugs, figuring his new friends likely did something to quickly win the fight without him.
Gimble, The Storyteller |
My apology for the delay. Life stuff this week, but here we go!
Sarsczek and Unnvar sneak to the next room. From what they can tell this room is relatively quiet to the left, but around the corner to the right they hear a bustle of activity. A combination of human voices speaking to each other in common, as well as what can only seem like commands spoken in draconic.
As they move to the edge they see 3 Aspis agents and 6 Lizardfolk. The Aspis agents are supervising the Lizardfolk who are packing up artifacts for transport.
Clandelve Hammerhand |
Clandelve glowers at the Aspis agents ahead and moves to the front.
"Hoo abit ye pit all that stuff doon. We're here tae make sure th' lizardfolk keep whit belongs tae them," the dwarf adds sourly.
intimidate: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15
Sarsczek |
Sarsczek looks over at Unnvar, looks back at Clandelve marching forward, and looks back at Unnvar. He whispers quickly. "He look mad... lets go work."
Assuming Unnvar agrees, Sarsczek will try to slip into a good tactical position to take the Aspis down as quickly and quietly as possible.
Unnvar the Solemn |
Unnvar nods draws his greatsword and gets ready.
Sarsczek |
Sarsczek mutters to Unnvar as they head out "Mebbe Elaqis can say somethin nice again..."
Once Clandelve makes his declaration, Sarsczek growls in draconic from the shadows in before lunging in for a quick takedown "Hiding behind whelps... you Aspis are cowards"
Gimble, The Storyteller |
I moved everyone up on the map.
As the dwarf got a little itchy to swing his hammer, Clandelve pushes his way to the front and shouts at the Aspis agents. The small chatter and sound of work comes to an immediate halt as the dwarf, and company, comes running around the corner.
The not so subtle advancement of the dwarf is more than enough warning for the Aspis to look up in time to see someone coming around the corner. No Surprise Round

Clandelve charges Red and swings with his Warhammer.
Warhammer: 1d20 + 17 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 17 + 2 = 22
Damage: 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
His attack strikes the agent in the chest staggering him a bit.
Aspis Agent (Blue)
The Agent attempts to tumble past Clandelve to avoid the AoO.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (6) + 15 = 21
But the wall of the cave gets in his way and Clandelve takes a swing at him.
Clandelve AoO: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (7) + 17 = 24
The Aspis agent deftly dodges the blow as his motion carries him past the warhammer striking at him.
Agent Readies an action.

Unnvar the Solemn |
Tapping his heals together, Unnvar races into the room moving closer to the lizardfolk, than the Aspis (Red), he heads for the rearmost Aspis man (Green), sizing him up as gets into position to take a big swing of his greatsword.
+1 Adamantine Keen Greatsword, Vital Strike, Power Attack (Furious Focus), Studied Target, Haste: 1d20 + 13 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 13 + 2 + 1 = 22
Damage: 4d6 + 16 + 2 ⇒ (2, 3, 5, 3) + 16 + 2 = 31
August Autumnwind |
Can I charge Blue? I think I have a "straight" line that doesn't have to move through anyone but I need a ruling. If so,
Charge!: 1d20 + 15 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 15 + 2 = 31 for Damage: 2d6 + 25 ⇒ (5, 4) + 25 = 34
If not, then that will be my first attack next round without the +2 to hit and for 3 less damage.
Elaqis Teletaire |
Elaqis hears the tell-tale noise of people being mad at Pathfinders as moves as fast as his short legs can carry him. Seeing Unnvar rush ahead and around a corner, the gnome spies the dwarf surrounded by Aspis as lizardfolk hurry away.
{Draconic} "Don't worry my scaled friends! We're only here to get rid of the bad Aspis egg-snatchers!"
He also yells for the unseen half-orc to spare the lizardfolk as he casts a spell to quicken the stranglers still in the cave neck.
Haste on Elaqis, Amar, August, Owyn, and Sarsczek. The other two are out of range sadly.
August Autumnwind |
@August: You need a completely clear path to charge, not just line of sight. Even without Sarsczek and Amar in your way, the cave wall is blocking you. Go ahead and double-move.
Elaqis is up.
The cave wall was my concern, I was hoping the path of squares was enough to get around that. Double move it is!

Elaqis is up.
Good news, the haste Elaqis cast resolves before your turn, so you can get an attack off.
August Autumnwind |
OK! Just use the attack I posted but take off the +2 charge bonus to hit. I can use Vital Strike so I need more dice for damage.
Vital Strike: 2d6 ⇒ (1, 3) = 4 Meh.
Since that's a standard I get the extra +3 to damage after all for a grand total of 38.
Gimble, The Storyteller |
As the lizardfolk move out of the way of the battle, Unnvar speeds in and attacks Green, but the Aspis agent is able to duck behind the bit of cavern wall to avoid the strike.
Elaqis casts Haste allowing August to move over to Blue, and bring his greatsword down upon him, taking a huge gash out of the agent's shoulder.
Green attempts to tumble past Unnvar.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (3) + 15 = 18
Unnvar gets an AoO.
Then into a flanking position by Clandelve.
Blue's readied action goes off and Green attacks at the same time:
Blue Rapier: 1d20 + 10 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 10 + 2 = 30
Green Rapier: 1d20 + 10 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 10 + 2 = 20
Confirm Crit: 1d20 + 10 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 10 + 2 = 17
With all the movement, blue is able to connect with his rapier attack, just missing a vital artery.

Unnvar the Solemn |
As the Aspis man darts away Unnvar takes his shot.

Crit Damage: 2d6 + 16 + 2 ⇒ (3, 6) + 16 + 2 = 27
Sarsczek |
Sarsczek rushes in to grab a flanking position and takes a huge bite out of his target.
If green is still up, moves to flank him, otherwise moves to flank red. Either way same attack roll. On mobile so would someone please move me on the map?
Bite: 1d20 + 9 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 9 + 2 + 1 = 27
Damage+ acid+ sneak attack: 1d6 + 3 + 2 + 1d6 + 2d6 ⇒ (3) + 3 + 2 + (1) + (1, 2) = 12
Amar N'Ugnuna |
Wings spread, Amar charges forward to strike at the blue Aspis, using the force of the blow to try and shove him back and out of the flank against Clandelve.
Attack: 1d20 + 13 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 13 + 1 + 2 = 34 for damage: 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
Push 5 feet back: 1d20 + 12 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 12 + 2 + 1 = 34
Gimble, The Storyteller |
Unnvar takes a swing at green slicing him on the back of the leg, cutting a tendon nearly knocking him down.
Sarsczek moves in and and takes a bit at Green Provoking an AoO And takes a chunk out of his arm, but the agent is still standing.
AoO Rapier: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (14) + 12 = 26
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

Owyn Moravic |
Owyn rushes around the corner to square off against the (green) enemy.
Double move 40 ft.
Owyn Moravic |
Ah, thank you for pointing that out.
Owyn will finish with a swing at the (green) enemy standing in front of him.
Attack: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (9) + 14 = 23
Damage: 1d8 + 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (7) + (4) + 5 = 16
Gimble, The Storyteller |
Sarsczek's headband longsword comes to life and swings and misses at green, but it proves to be just enough distraction for a hasted Owyn to come running around the corner and strike the Aspis Agent.
The green Aspis Agent falls to the ground.
The Red Agent strikes at Clandelve with both his weapons.
Rapier 1: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19
Rapier 2: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Dagger 1: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16
Dagger 2: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
The flurry of strikes are ineffective as Clandelve easily dodges and deflects the attacks. Seeing this, he takes a 5' step back.
Clandelve attacks Blue with a flurry of strikes with his hammer and shield.
+2 Warhammer (adamantine) (power attack): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (2) + 12 = 141d8 + 13 ⇒ (1) + 13 = 14

Ugh, not a good group of rolls there.
Elaqis Teletaire |
Elaqis makes his way carefully around the flowing water and into the cavern. Seeing the nearest Aspis agent ready to strike back at August and Clandelve, he casts a spell to loosen his grip on his blade.
Casting grease on the Blue agent's weapon. DC 18 Reflex or he drops it. If blue's dropped by August, I'll cast it on Red. If they're both gone, yeah team!
Gimble, The Storyteller |
Unnvar takes three big swipes at The Red Aspis Agent (hitting with 2 of his attacks), severely wounding the man, but still stands.
Elaqis casts Grease on Blue. Your turn resolves before August, so at the time, Blue is still standing.
Reflex: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23
The blue agent is able to avoid his weapon being greased long enough for August's second slash with his sword to cleave the agent, dropping him.
Red attempts to flee, tumbling at full speed using Spring attack to attack Sarsczek.
