I'm working on it! I fell into the rabbit hole after stumbling on Chelaxian Monks but everything is coming together nicely :)

I might be pulling Tosom out not completely sure yet though, definetly keeping him as a character I like him too much.

Guys, there's only 1 familiar, the other alien animals are animal companions. The familiar is a Petromin, described as: This sleek, furred creature has flaps of skin stretching between its limbs and its body. It gives it's master +3 stealth.

A sleek creature named after lube? That's only moderately clever but I'll take it. I could work that into Leo's backstory to go along with the Egg he found.

Aside from equipment, here's the crunchy bits for my Triaxian Rogue.

I'm currently reading the player's guide and working on the fluff for Kale.

Well! Lots of stuff hit me all at once. Got pulled into a never ending raid in Final Fantasy 14 last night... thought I was going to spend an hour adventuring lightly and BAM!!!

This morning I had to meet with our local Venture Officer for PFS about some changes and shakeups going on locally.

Then work!

So the list update will have to wait a bit. However I will try and address a few things now.

Familiar - If your background is Numeria, that would make some sense. Backstory needed. If not, I wouldn't have a problem switching to it when you encounter some in game. (Could make for some nice role play/side quest)

The campaign traits, in the fluff are more about getting you into Torch. The only one fluff wise is the Local Ties will not have much effect beyond book 1. The Star one will be more important probably as time goes on.

And yes this is one of the hardest things I've had to do as game master, normally I pick the people I know in person. Usually based on the fact that I enjoyed playing with them in PFS or some other forum. (or I'm married to her.) Deciding who to pick based on your awesome characters is causing me to lose sleep...

Calling out a few things about some of the builds -

CampincCarl - A pepperbox is not a valid choice for a gunslinger starting weapon.

Tsirion - Love the earthling concept. Sorcerer or Oracle was what I was thinking when reading the story. I think the int based sorcerer is more appropriate with a MMO geek sucked into Golarion. The reason mentioning here is the "extreme" length of backstory, I'm not sure I could handle such large daily posts.

Pinvendor - extra thanks for adjusting to the changing need of the group with 3 excellent submissions.

Reckless - How do you forsee dealing with con damage while stuck in a multi day underground dungeons?

Dylos - I don't think triaxans or lashunta are really appropriate, but I will be reviewing your submission more later. You posted while typing this Ill look harder at your post in a bit.

For the Wyrwooders - Locally I have a reputation as a fairly deadly GM, I fear for your poor characters, while I am interested in seeing how they will fair.

Razmiran Priest - I have a friend who plays one in society play. They are interesting. How do you plan to "fit" in? He convinced us in character that he might actually razmiran and we didn't want to anger a possible god.

If you are missing anything off the opening post, please make sure to update your characters/backstory. I will be thoroughly reviewing everything this weekend and barring any amazing new submissions choosing from among those that have entries so far

All I can think of at the moment, will try and provide feedback to everyone in the next day or so.

No problem!

Ah my apologies. I don't get to mess with guns often. It has been remedied and I've changed some of Kale's feats around to help with it.

Thank'e kindly fer considerin' m'self, Master DM, Sir. (^_^)

So... any thoughts on me previous up post about the adjustments ta' the wands an' stuffs? I know I weren't postin' as Scarlet... but thought tha' ideas naffy.

Also am goin' with "Against the Technic League" trait.

Not that Scarlet might/may be aware that she's against the Technic league....

Put here again under one roof:

So... we have the 'Wand rifle'... Instead of putting a couple of wands into it.

How about if we put in two Bottled Lightning things instead?

Would one end up with a 'Lightning shotgun' with a range of 20'?

SO... while perusing wands to buy for a certain magic item... It was noted that buying one of 'Scorching ray' would be way above a starting charter's pay allotment.

Then thoughts turned to various lower level spells... and meta-magic feats to adjust said spell's range etc... and thoughts turned to certain traits.

For example =>magical Lineage

And the idea for a wand of 'Shocking ray' formed within my mind.

By combining the trait with the meta-magic feat one can still have a wand for 750 Gp that has a range of 25' and does 1D6 electrical damage.

Just a passing fancy/thought....

Thoughts/comments/other off the wall ideas welcome.

It's on Golarion, which is why he's saying Triaxians might not fit.

GM, for what it's worth, I ran a search, there's no Triaxians in the first book itself, so knowing the language won't give me any sort of advantage, as opposed to if I were a Kasatha. There's also no lashunta in the first book.

Either Triaxians or Lashunta have ways to Golarion through interplanetary portals, Lashunta live on the same planet that the elves went to during earthfall, so it stands to reason that a few Lashunta may have eventually settled on Golarion. As far as Triaxians, including the portals in Reign of Winter, there are various ways that a Triaxian could find themselves on Golarion.

I will note however that changing the character to human will not change the character much statistically (their perception will take a hit because of the +2 perception that Triaxians have, but I'd get another skill point as well).

Envoy's Alliance

Edit: Nevermind my comment DM and everyone else, I was thinking this was the Reign Winter Adventure Path for a minute.

Don't worry, I don't post small essays while in actual PbP, I just decided to binge on an epicly long backstory.

It tells you that in the Reign of Winter players guide anyway, and the players guide should be something you should read when applying to any AP, it even helps with backstories and understanding the AP. Read the players guide that is, not the AP itself.

The Exchange

The RoW players guide does not mention Triaxus or the Triaxans at all.

@GM: With so many good characters here, I would suggest running two, maybe even three tables.

Annnnd I just realized I have two moar skill slots to allocate. *facepalm*

Episode fifty, I believe.

Another PbP I'm in is one of 3 tables the GM is running and you can tell he's pretty fatigued from it. He had about 36 submissions and selected half of them across three tables. It's cool at first but once fatigue starts setting in its kind of hard to get re-motivated.

Aside from the obvious exception of the Android race the IG PG makes, the PG does explicitly comment that the other races included in People of the Stars are not really appropriate race choices for this AP...

Only bringing it up in case you are feeling flexible on that front. Otherwise I would suggest PMing the GM and working things out. That way if he has to give you spoilers about it, no one here will have to be a part of it. :-)

I feel like we are all missing the extremely important android in our lives who was on a quest for emotions as well Brent Spiner

Went ahead and took the chance of writing the alien familiar into Leopaldon's background. It gave a more compelling motivation to go to Numeria than a piece of junk that wasn't working. I also broke his motivation out of his backstory to make room for the added bit about his familiar, t260g... Does anyone else find themselves wanting to write Numenera when they write Numeria?

Good luck to all.

The art style looks kinda Numenera-esque too.

GM Viskous wrote:

Muwahahahahahah! EDIT: aka, "Challenge Accepted"! :D

(I just died in my single-person campaign I'm playing, so I think I can handle that kind of setback.)

I'm curious, though: how does reincarnate work with constructs? I've not read recently enough (we actually rule that, outside of 100%, aka "GM's choice", the list is based off of the creature type or the body form the target is in (depending on the game), so I'm forgetting the Core RAW right now), but said spell is actually one of the things my character would seek to be subject to, if possible, for reasons of it's own.

Even if he's not subject to it, 'twould be interesting RP-potential.

Also, all the Local Tie-ers: you want to know each other? If any of us get picked, it could be interesting to have that connection between us, and if any of us don't, it could be a springboard in if, say, someone else has to drop out.

EDIT 2 (iPad formatting; my apologies):

So, looking up Reincarnate, and Construct, it actually looks pretty good. While a Construct cannot be raised or resurrected, those are Conjuration effects, but Reincarnate is a Transmutation. Demons (EDIT: ugh, "seems") Seems, at first glance, like it might work!

EDIT 3: Nope, nevermind!

Like, one paragraph down wrote:
A creature that has been turned into an undead creature or killed by a death effect can't be returned to life by this spell. Constructs, elementals, outsiders, and undead creatures can't be reincarnated. The spell can bring back a creature that has died of old age.

Ah, well. So... we'll still have to be extremely careful! Fun!

(I'll have a back-up character, just in case!) :D

I had a detailed post about the whole alien to Golarion race thing, then forgot to hit submit and then got busy at work and closed the window...

I am very familiar with Reign of Winter(its one of the games that helped earn my deadly reputation), and while interplanetary travel is a theme there, it isn't so much in Iron Gods which is where a lot of the limitation on alien races come from I think. There is already a certain set of aliens, so more sorta confuses the matter.

I am not banning the race, like I'm not dismissing wyrwoods. Its just that I'm looking for why you want to be that race.

I really don't care what kind of snowflake you want to be, what I want to see is interesting people with interesting stories. I also have been reviewing the other play by posts you all have participated in and read examples of your characters posts and discussion posts. The "crunch" is almost the least important part of the game to me, I get plenty of that in my face to face gamemastering.

I would almost be tempted to run multiple groups, but as I mentioned in my intro thread I am running this as a face to face game as well, and I don't want to burn out for them or for the groups I work online with.

And yes this does feel very Numenara to me too

So if multiple people have local ties we will hammer something out in Discussion before we connect the game play thread.

No one seems to like the stargazer one...

I've got the backstory for my gunslinger done as well as a name change (I recently realized that I named him after a food). Always love feedback!

Theodric Galadon

So I will be pulling Tosom, I wish you all the best of luck and I might read along.

Well, I was thinking lesser restoration, as hopefully by the time we spend days in dungeons we'll be 3rd level. However, it's looking more and more like I'll want to run this AP, so I think I'll withdraw my submission.

Thank you.

Thanks for your entry Del Azast, I enjoyed the write up. Sorry it couldn't work out.

Reckless, I'm disappointed to see you leave. I was looking forward to working with a plant person. Later this week, feel free to poach players from here if you run your own game!

So we only have 2 healer entries now:
Moselle Cabascillis - Archon-Blooded Aasimar Cleric of Ohleon - Against the Technic League (KakkarottoZ)
Everything seems to be in order, I might be slightly concerned how your RP goals will interact with the party, and how some events will play with your back story. Overly lawful characters can become disruptive.

Druenour Hammerstriker - Dwarf Cleric of Nethys - Numerian Archaeologist (Mokshai)
The concept is down, though the character isn't complete and missing some of the stuff I've asked for in the opening post. Cleric of Nethys is interesting, I just need you to flesh out the character some more. Feel free to PM me with questions or if you need any help.

Yeah, I can see how that might seem like a problem, but his beliefs in law are basically the result of his desire to see good done, so it's not as though he would never conceive of working with a chaotic character or something, though I don't know what's coming down the tubes so it may be disruptive, it may not be.

considering that several people have multiple aliases and are in several games, how do you find the time to do that? You have to remember, I may play one way in game A, but different in game B, because they are different games and different characters. Or I may stat drop cha to 7 or 8 in one game, but roleplay rudeness and non-talkative really well, but in another game be an overly sociable person who inspires everyone, cha 16.

@Rakdon Tripus - It's actually not that hard. Simply check their campaign tab and look for one or two campaigns that have been running the longest and read a few of their recent posts. It usually only takes a few minutes per person, depending on how much you're willing to read.

Also, the quality of your posts shouldn't change depending on the charisma of your character. One of my favorite characters who I always had a blast playing was a 5 charisma dwarven fighter who was very introverted.

@CampinCarl: I'm playing a 5-charisma dwarf in one campaign, who's certainly not introverted- but he's the rudest, foulest, and to be honest, most insane bugger I've ever played. He's currently headbutting down doors in a dungeon since his hands are full. Three doors down, who knows how many to go!

(See Baern Steelskull in my aliases to whom I'm referring)

Also.. since we lack for healer entries, I think I'm going to switch it up and go a Mystic Theurge build - probably Stargazer instead of Skymetal Smith, but that much remains to be seen.

I'd love to play this campaign, since I'm not going to get a chance at home. I'm thinking an oracle, but wondering what mysteries would be appropriate. Dark Tapestry calls to me, but I'm not sure how much it would fit in here...

With the exception of a few of you, most are only in one or two games so not to hard to handle. I have a lot of time to read while at work as I must sit at a desk and be available in case someone needs something.

The things I'm looking for is how you post, how you play characters, how you format stuff. I do look at the alias to know what your character is like, I look at all your other alias/characters to see what they are like. I also look at the discussion threads to see how out of character interactions are handled.

I am making a commitment to play a game with 5-7 people, who if things go well are going to be together for 2-3 years possibly. I want that group to be successful, I want this group to be friends, I want to get together at Gencon or Paizocon with group members(if we go to those cons).

I have to make this decision, based off a forum post where someone tells me what I want to hear. I feel that I should do my best to pick a group I think will work well together and who have compatible personalities. To do this I need to read examples of your posting, to see your posting habits, and feel comfortable with you, using the available data.

El Ronza, please hurry with an entry, high level don't need super detailed stat stuff, what I need to see is short back story, the concept of the character, what trait you're considering, an in character post.

Dark Tapestry is suggested in the players guide... so you ought to download and read that quickly.

Heh I'm in three, one of which I'm DMing.

If I don't end up getting into this campaign as a player, I'm most definitely going to run it as a DM. If I *do* get in, it'll be Mummy's Mask instead, to avoid spoilers.

Gonna have my character up soon! I'm actually rehashing an old cleric I had in a homebrew campaign that was meant to go into the stars and it had to do with the Dominion of the Black. With a few changes, he'll fit right in.

Okrin Ashweaver, if you want to see his old stats while I work on his new ones on my google drive.

Don't think I did a roleplay post for Lazur Anil.

Lazur looks worried as he approaches the barge, "Here's my passage across. I need to look in on my father and sister as I'm sure he's knee deep in this. Once I know they are ok, I'll be looking into the Torch." Lazur then finds a spot and waits impatiently, tapping one foot.

Dylos here, changed the name and switched to Vishkanya, will have to look into traits tomorrow.

Liberty's Edge

Yeah, I forgot a roleplay sample too.

Raju has been sitting in one of Torch's taverns for a few hours now, kind of killing time and trying not to make a decision. By now, she's pretty sure that the wizard Khonnir Baine is in some sort of trouble, and the town doesn't seem to be doing much about it -- either because they lack the resources, or the will, or both. So it might be that she has to personally do something, and, well, she finds herself a bit reluctant. Charging to somebody's rescue isn't really her sort of thing. Let them fend for themselves.

But the wizard is a bit of a special case. During the few weeks that Raju has been in Torch, she's spent some time with him. And it's been sort of fun. So it's a bit like somebody has taken your toy. Well, not your *favorite* toy, by any means, no, but still your toy. And you might want to play with it again.

Or, she could just cut her losses and look for a new toy. It's not like there's a shortage of companionship in Torch.

Raju runs her finger along the rim of her goblet in endless circles, lost in thought. Then, she pinches the bridge of her nose and leans back in her chair a little bit, teetering on two legs, giving a soft grunt of frustration low in her throat. "Ugh." She's going to do something stupid and she hates it already.

Hehehe, what can I say? I'm trying to experience it all.

Edit: I would recommend my WotW game where I'm playing as Talon, the strix magus. That game has been running a very long time and he has had some interesting character moments in it. The Valcia game where I play Mortimer is another good option, as well as the Dark Sun game where I play Däina.

WotW end of book 1 spoiler alert:

This is one of my favorite moments for Talon. He managed to get over his hatred of the party's human antipaladin, saving his life as the only healer in the area and even showing respect to Havelyn, the paladin that nearly slew him.

I'll get the roleplay sample up this evening when I get back from work.

I'd recommend Pollux Wardroxan, Iranaset Maior, or Ilya Mxyzptlk if we're trying to put on our best faces here. I suppose I should mention I work at a software company and I may have to take an absence for a few days to a week around release time, but I'll announce it.
