Another I have to ask. Did you count any past games we were in, or did you only look at any current games we were in. Like if the game went inactive or if we dropped out months ago, did you still look into it?
And for those DMs who play a single DMPC of their own, did you count those as characters? Not NPCs, but a DM who plays an actual PC?
And did you count short scenario modules?

Talric of the Northlands |

@Viskous: I'm actually taking a long hiatus from Tales of Agartha: The Avalon Chronicles right now. If we are to put our best faces on, I'd suggest looking at my human barbarian, Talric of the Northlands, and my super-silly slightly insane able-to-break-the-fourth-wall catgirl character, Eoko Sandwalker. She was designed for a super-silly campaign called Adventuring Lime, in which the style is extremely similar to the show.
But, if you want it to be serious, check out Talric. He's extremely solemn and noble, and he tries the shepherd the entirely neutral party.

So...
That was a can of worms! I might not have that much time...
So far the only bad submissions are the dotters that haven't made characters.
As to review, I picked a few at random, or looked for one with highest post counts and skimmed through. Again I was looking more at quality than subject matter. I am not a grammar or spelling Nazi, but it needs to be understandable. This is really the last step, I will be reviewing posts today and tomorrow.
If I'm playing in a campaign or I want to, I skipped reading posts from it, so CampinCarl I can't look at your suggestions.
I basically consider the application pool closed at this point, I'll let it linger until I get up Tuesday morning though, and I will try and get the chosen players announced on Tuesday too.

“The boat leaves in ten minutes!” shouts a burly sailor. “Last run to Torch for the day!”
You want to be on that boat, this is your chance to get a jump on other adventuring crews that are vying for the rewards for solving the mystery of the flame going out. A large amount of gold pieces are on offer to the group who can rekindle the flames atop Black Hill! All day you have been hearing rumors and outrageous claims of the catastrophe in Torch. “The Technique League put out the fire so they could destroy torches economy.” “The flame got so violent that it wiped Torch of the face of Numeria.” Finally, a barge with a cryer arrived in Hajoth Hakados, with genuine news, “The flame has gone out and there is a huge reward for whoever can fix it!”
The wooden humanoid ponders the rumors. Aloud, a voice issues from the facial area, "Hm. Most unfortunate: many a smith's work will fail for the lack of the flame."
Silently, it continues, Also, fascinating. I do wonder what, precisely, the issue is. Perhaps those skills taught down south will do the trick. It would certainly do me good to see my master again... and... and... and... "<error>, <cough>, ahem" and... Val... once... more.
It steps up to the boatman. "Sir, I must needs be on board the vessel. Though my skill may not be of assistance, it is quite possible that I may determine the proper methodology of reactivating the torch with my relatively unique blend of traits and skills. I thank you for permitting my passage."
Handing over what coin he has remaining, the curious creature known as Rywokit steps aboard a ship.
"Ah. Headed home at last. What a curious sensation. Clearly, it must be an error."

Moselle Cabascillis |

Oh right, RP sample.
Once I am there I can restore the light of Torch's torch, then as a local hero I can start to bring the light of Ohleon and civilized behavior to the people there. Once I have a base of operations I can begin to spread out from there.

Rywokit Prometheus |

"I wonder how everyone is doing?" the wyrwood muses aloud.
Wandering around the boat, it was surprised how many people it knew.
"Jack Homini," it nodded, "and Lazur <word process: humor> Anil: pleasant greetings to you, humans."
"Syriluus," it greeted, "I was... not expecting you here. How are you handling the weather? <stack error exception overflow>"
Finally, finding people that spoke reasonably, "Raju Ilmatar, and Rengovay: well met, my fellow arcanists."
"There are a great many of us from Torch. Tell me, all, what you have heard from Master Khonnir Baine. It has been... too long, since I've seen him."

~The arrival in Torch~
*Whew* A low whistle announces the worn traveler's amazement at the city. He tips his hat up with one hand to get a better look while his other hands rests on his waist. In his eyes are the hunger for adventure as he gazes at the advanced civilization. He starts making his way off the boat, tall lanky legs covering ground quickly.
“The flame has gone out and there is a huge reward for whoever can fix it!”
Theo slows down his pace, slipping his hands into his pockets and gently pushing his traveling cloak back behind his arms as he listens to the news, eyes still focused on the city. That's right, supposed to be that big purple fire. Or a beacon of the gods as some put it. He tilts his head to the side, bringing up one hand to scratch at the accumulating stubble on his cheek. If I remember right that's what's used to heat skymetal. Can't hardly learn the trade if I can't practice it. He turns sharply on his heels, making his way right towards the man he heard the news from. "And where would a concerned citizen go to seek out such a reward?" As he walks he scans the other interested individuals. Potential allies...or enemies.

Okrin Ashweaver |

Crustypeanut here! Okrin Ashweaver, Cleric of Brigh, is finished, at least crunch-wise.
I'm working on his fluff and background as we speak - he's a clockwork inventor and skymetal smith from Alkenstar who has migrated to Numeria in search of technology and skymetals. Thats just a very very rough summary, at least. He also wields a pistol! (Yay for the Black Powder Inquisition!)
He's.. also a bit of a snob.. a snob from a rich background, explaining the Rich Parents trait. He's also very meticulous - I picked that rather nasty drawback (-2 to all untrained skills! Ouch!) to offset the rather powerful Rich Parents trait.
And, despite the fact he's a cleric, he's also an able trap-spotter and trap disabler! 'Sept that he can't disable magic traps.. but I doubt that'll be much of an issue.
I'll have his fluff and a gameplay post up soon!

, |
So... with two traits and a met-magic rod.. a wand can be rafted that does 2D6 electricity damage, as a ray, with a range of 50' feet (50 sots). All for 350 Gp.
Does the DM think allowing such an item for a starting character is too much?
Note... this is a 'standard' price and the character is in no way crafting said item (Since, technically, assuming the rod could be 'borrowed' the crafter would actually make it for half this price)
DM's thoughts/ideas/comments?
Awaiting some DM adjudication on some... things... (>_>) and thence items can be finalized for the character.
Much cheers to all. (^_^)

Jean Antonio |

How long 'til recruitment closes? Jean didn't make it to the deadline to a Razor Coast game but now it seems that the Iron Gods have more exploratory potential for her character. I'm gonna need time to adjust her story and crunch for this AP though...
EDIT: Just read the final line in the OP. I'll make it in time!!! Please wait for me, I wanna digest the player's guide :D

Mr_Shed |

Razmiran Priest - I have a friend who plays one in society play. They are interesting. How do you plan to "fit" in? He convinced us in character that he might actually razmiran and we didn't want to anger a possible god.
Well he genuinely thinks he's really a cleric and will act the part of party healer. Not gonna be amazing at it since he can't channel, but he's starting with a full Wand of Cure Light Wounds and a good UMD (+10 at level 1) and will probably spend much of his WBL on purchasing wands and/or other magical items to better emulate a real cleric.
Story-wise, he's pretty much going to assume that most people don't know much about Razmir or the church's reputation, he'll dismiss those that do know as having simply encountered some bad apples, and claim that Razmir sees fit to only grant him a few spells.

Jean Antonio |

@Scarlet: Sure did! It was shorter than expected so I'm still hungry for more though...
Hi GM!
My crunch & fluff are mostly done. I, Jean the Arcanist, engineer by profession is ready to join your crew! If allowed, of course... hopefully... :)
Concept: Arcanist, but practically a technological fanatic with utility spells. She will pick up spells to support ranged shooters, especially gunslingers, and tends to summon creatures to fight for her.
She will also keep an adventure journal for the group. I may need some info on the starting date though.
Also, after you're done reading through her fluff, let me know if you want some story constants to be adjusted. I'm not that familiar with the Numeria scene, so I wasn't able to put in as much details about her 5yr adventures before coming back to Torch. :(

GM Viskous |

OK!
Good luck Dylos, thanks for submitting. See you around.
So all the submissions look good, I've been reviewing and pretty close to a decision. Last chance for:
redbeardredeyed - Human despises The Black-Sovereign - ? - Against the Technic league
El Ronza - ? - Oracle Dark Tapestry - ?
to get something submitted for consideration.

Okrin Ashweaver |

Okrin puffed on what little remained of his cigar as he sit on a rock, relaxing his weary boots after a long day’s trek to the small town of Torch. Leaning against his bulging backpack, his canteen laying next to him, filled with fresh, clean water conjured with a spell, Okrin watches the hustle of people moving about, whispering rumors and worries alike. He takes a long, deep breath of his cigar, then exhales it.
Word has it that the town’s iconic monument, the very plume of fire that Torch takes its name from has gone out. “Just in time for me ter get there,” Okrin thought angrily. He had travelled towards the town for that specific reason - to use the plume to study his skymetal smithing skills. Word has it that the plume burned hot enough to work the wondrous metals, but somehow didn’t burn the people or its supplies that wandered near - a curious quality, for certain. Anyhow, it was all a moot point now that the flames gone out. Yet, the town has offered quite the reward for anyone able to reignite the plume. Obviously, none had yet succeeded, but that was because Okrin hadn’t given it a shot. Yet. That was all about to change.
As he nearly finished his cigar, Okrin’s keen eyes spotted movement to his right on the rock, near his canteen. A small, two-headed lizard was crawling cautiously up to his canteen, flicking one of its tongues in and out, smelling the fresh, conjured water. Okrin watched it as it paid little heed to him. It crept closer, seeking out his water. Slowly, as to not startle the little creature, Okrin took the butt of his cigar between his fingers - and, lightning fast, smashes the cigar down upon one of the creature’s two heads.
He twists the cigar butt around on the lizard's second head and grins as the creature writhes and squirms, attempting to free itself as its head sizzles and pops from the heat. After a few moments of searing agony, the lizard rips its second head off and scurries away. His prey having escaped, Okrin brings the cigar up to examine it. ”Better. No lil’ f+@%er ought ter have two heads. Ain’t right.” Absently, he flicks the cigar away into a patch of dried grass, the lizard’s head with it.
”The boat leaves in ten minutes! Last run to Torch today!”
”Well, time ter git a movin’, sooner I git there, sooner I git paid fer fixin’ their crap.” Okrin spins the cap back on his canteen and hooks it onto his belt before hefting his backpack and standing up off the rock. He stretches, putting both arms behind his back and then up above his head. There is an audible crack in his spine and he lets his hands fall - he then twists his head side to side and cracks his neck twice as well.
Fingering his pistol at his side as he walks, in case any of the natives get restless towards the foreigner, Okrin heads towards the boat, ready to make history.

Ahhh! I completely mis-typed!!! :(
Her concept is not really an engineer but a tinkerer, thus the focus on Disable Device & Use Magic Device skills plus the Dangerously Curious trait. Sorry about that. Also, are we required to post the Gameplay Sample like Okrin did? I didn't see that in the OP.

GM Viskous |

You have til mid day tomorrow, I am running a PFS table tomorrow night, so I will likely be finalizing everything tomorrow by 5pm Pacific time.
As Uncle Taco and Okrin mentioned, please make a short post that gives an example of a post in response to the sailor bit at the beginning of the recruitment post.

GM Viskous |

Diphycue - No problems with a novice, but you don't have very long to get an entry in. At this point, I really need to see a good example of a post in character and a real strong character concept. Specific stats and gears are not as important as the story.
I would advise a healer entry, as I am thoroughly represented in the other departments.

I would like to make sure you know that even though Okrin seems more of a battle cleric than a healer cleric, he certainly can heal fairly well too. Pure healers are less useful than those who can contribute in a fight as well! :P
Kind of tempted to switch Technologist for Amateur Gunslinger though.. would hate to have my gun jam on me.. Hmmm...

Jean Antonio |

Ohhh... that prompt. OK then, here's mine!
“The boat leaves in ten minutes!” shouts a burly sailor. “Last run to Torch for the day!”
"Wait for me! I'll make it just in time, please..." shouts a woman in black explorer's outfit, a wide white sash across her waist can be seen under her cloak. Unfortunately, the sailor did not even turn her way as Jean's voice was drowned out by the loud chatter of the people at the dock.
Jean has been trying to stay still on a line to the ticket booth, but those who peek into her hood would easily feel her agitation. She arrived at the port just a few minutes earlier, but she soon found out that something wrong happened in Torch.
Val probably called me back here for something related to the Flame... The Professor would definitely have done something, but if Val wants be back at Torch, something bad might have happened. Hopefully not... maybe? It's probable, given the nature of our work but-
Her train of thought was broken when she was prompted by the ticket lady. She paid her fees and all but ran back to the dock.
"Here I am, thanks!" Showing the sailor her documents and ticket, she climbs aboard the boat and proceeds to sit at the only vacant seat beside a person with a large sword (or any potential ally).
Jean was constantly shifting in her seat, looking into the open waters towards Torch.
Let's go already. Bah! If I only could take the speed boat I built up north... it would go faster than this junk any day...

Ended up swapping Technologist for Amateur Gunslinger, snagging me the Quick Clear Deed thanks to it. Also moved around my spells a little bit - if we have more than one android, I'll change Bless to something else, as it won't help the androids one bit.
The data log indicates the presence of more than one constructed life form......

Analise Rodhire |

Ana continues to mutter and sketch. The page depicting the spiderbot is now completely cluttered with notes, mathematical equations, and scientific jargon. "Again, the real goddamn question is how the spiderbot translates plasma to kinetic energy! If it's superheated gas, it can't be giving off any electricity... Right?! ARGH!!!" Anybody on deck can probably hear the young lady agonising, particuraly Scarlet, rambling right on past Analise as she speaks.

Analise Rodhire |

*Stops and, indeed, does peer over loud woman's shoulder, possibly attracted by the noise....* (^_^)
"Appipu-lai ! Gï vo’mana?" (^_^)
Can you translate that? I forgot to add in Ana's bonus languages, so I threw in Polyglot, Androffan, Dwarvish, and Elvish. At least, I assume you're speaking Androffan...

Analise Rodhire |

Analise looks up in surprise, then begins to analyze the strange language the girl is speaking.
Linguistics: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24
Recognizing the language as Polyglot, I assume so, since that's Scarlet's listed language Analise begins speaking it a bit haltingly.
Going to make some corrections/changes to Analise in the morning so that she will have Linguistics and Craft (mechanical) in place of her two Craft skills.

Continues to smile back/in return to/at Analise before nodding at the other woman's question.
"Oua-cra co'cha o dayodomo bin-ay. Oua-cra mo co'cha ferji akba ligounai makta keratapla." Scarlet nods,
"Tokemata o chon man baraniba mino assiy’omektan pan lacta’nonjima ligunaï’dalat! Ilo yututuki imanétaba, ch-tamant divo mino’sossian. Seno santonoi-aypa. Minoi ay Cheba! Givomana seno!" And the tanned, blonde woman begins to make many gestures, from palms/fingers spreading open to arm wavings. Eventually her arms waving and pointing are often going in multiple ways at once.
"Melaloy-re takhtad asountimon dei Met-alk'cta ligurat! Isperobera khrasma, perod'jun dat dero fergi hamas'met tatroskit zhit handlha...Tsouk-tsouk... Topometimbackta selovoy! Itoumalena palela fer kiko hammas statoncro bom sonoy doyt pan-adindoskal.. nealla dindo... djalla boom... bada boom." Finishing with Scarlet almost jumping into the air,
"Beeeg BADA-BOOM!" (^_^)

Apparent mental age? We've only just met! :P
"Aye! Spaykin' better be whut I be all about tha' place ta' learnin'." Scarlet skips closer, thrusting a hand forwards. (^_^)
I'm still pretty much using the same stats I've been using for all my 'Sunnys'. The random generator gave me a result of 6'.. Which is tall... So... with the hat, the clothes, the tan? Scarlet would look adult. I plead the Fifth for any statements about Role Playing... (>_>)
