I don't see the full impact of the rule, and I don't think it breaks the system as most of those reach weapons don't allow AoO. We are basically using weapons that are dropped during the A.Path, so unless there was serious Metagaming.... no harm- no foul? Right? Or am I missing a higher impact?

True, though there are a couple weapons out there such as the pike that does allow AoO. So it completely shuts down casters without even given them a chance. Leap in their face and they can't even 5 foot step away.
Though it shouldn't be bad past the lower levels and without metagaming. It just popped up in a SFS game I was running. Mainly just bringing it up as it is another one of those changes between the two systems.

@Draka- I am so bad at Pillars of Eternity. Still trying to grasp their system with the endurance and equipment tier layout. Though I have that and the evil campaign version of Pillars of Eternity (Tyranny)
hose should hold me over until August when the Pathfinder (Kingmaker) game comes out.

So, we have some higher end armor. Can anyone else use these for upgrading their armor?
Heavy Armors:
Golemforged III--- +10 +12 --
two sets of Lashunta Ringwear II - +8, +10 --
Light Armor:
Kasantha Microcord II - +6 +8---
I mention two sets of Lashuta Ringwear as I think Draka can take the Golemforged III and then pass her Lashunta down. I also have a Lashunta- but because of my high dex, wearing the Kasantha works out just the same.
Are others able to upgrade their armors because of this room?

You also have:

Estex suits II (2) +4 +5 3 Upgrade Slots
Kasatha microcord II (2) +6 +8
Ysoki refractor suit. +7 +7

When I get back to the real world, I’ll have to see which of these might be the best upgrade for Vetch. I don’t have my books with me and I’m too lazy to go ask the designers.
But that ysoki refractor suit seems pretty keen...
Also, Starfinder Society has been pretty big this weekend. About 60% PFS to 40% SFS, which is interesting.
Aerav Brack Elijea
Here's a convenient link to the armors when you're ready.
That Ysoki suit is pretty slick, you should take it. :)
I'm surprised SFS is so popular so quickly. I suppose it could be because it's the new thing. Curious to see what the breakdown is next year - but then I suppose PFS 2.0 will throw off the numbers even further.

I'm back home. I feel a little overwhelmed. (Also) I didn't realize I was homesick until I got home. That ever happen to y'all? I'll be going back to stay with the in-laws July 16th - 20th. We might leave that Friday night (July 13th) if I'm feeling like super waifu number 1... We'll see.

Uhh... what? Why didn't I buy Golemforged III for Draka to begin with? Wait... was it because I didn't have enough money? Oh wait - it's because it's a level 7 armor. Draka can't wear level 7 armor because she isn't level 7.... right? Or can you just not BUY armor that is above your character level?
Also, what page in the Core Rulebook talks about using armor to upgrade your current armor? Thanks :x
The Zane
My understanding is that you can't buy armor above your character level or the rule might be +2 above your character level. One of those rules or another- but the adventure dropped this to us. We get to enjoy the spoils of war!
You REALLY should take it. It works with your character and we won't have another significant armor jump until the end of this book or next book. I have a feeling we'll find something for Zane soon enough. He'll get dibs then. I'm not an item horder.... but my previous character JACK certainly was!!! (Inside joke for Dash/GM Rah).
Dash Arcbright
Item Level
All armor, equipment, and weapons (whether magic, technological, or hybrid) are assigned an item level. While characters can utilize items of any level, Game Masters should keep in mind that allowing characters access to items far above their current level may imbalance the game.
An object’s item level represents the scarcity and value of the technology and/or magic employed in its construction—higher-level items generally incorporate more advanced technology or mystical forces. An object’s item level also determines its hardness and Hit Points (see Breaking Objects) and is an indicator of the level at which a character should typically expect to both have access to the item and be able to craft it (see Crafting Equipment and Magic Items).
Item level also helps convey the fact that buying equipment is more involved than just placing an order. Even finding the items you desire isn’t always easy, and those who have access to things such as powerful weapons and armor tend to deal only with people they trust. Legitimate vendors don’t want to get reputations for selling hardware to pirates or criminals, and even criminal networks must be careful with whom they do business.

Basically if out at a smaller settlement you should have no problem finding any items your level +1. If in a large city hub like Absalom Station is increases to your level +2.
Otherwise anything else you find off of enemies are of course fair game.
Items names are little more than fluff. For example the Ysoki Refractor suit. Just means it was created by Ysoki's but will fit any race.
Normally if the gear is a higher level is may be better. But you also have to look at number of upgrade slots, speed, and max dex as well.

It is too damaged to be able to identify it exactly. Though you may find out more on it later :)

HMM GM , I'd love to have a bit of dialogue on the vicious fusion.
I like the concept and Zane is totally willing to add it to his Laser. BUT, the trade off just seems ... wrong... . It's odd that it gives a certain 1d4 damage to Zane for a possible added 1d4 damage to the opponent.
I don't know if house rules are available. Maybe augmenting it to add an additional point of opponent damage based on the level of the laser gun? or point every two levels?
That's more of a trade off, as I can't just "shut the vicious fusion off" or pick and choose when I want to use it..right?
ex: Bubba- a Diasporian rifle. Level 5.
damage to Zane: 1d4 ⇒ 4
possible damage if I hit target: 1d4 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
or, if we use the half levels house rule.
possible damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

There are no houserules for anything like this yet. Pathfinder had the ruling for vicious as enemy took 2d6 and wielder took 1d6. I think this would be a bit much for Starfinder and will really offset the battles.
Same would be said to adding in weapon level as the weapon level already increases the damage die.
That being said I do like the aspect of the enemy possibly taking more damage. I am thinking of going the route of the enemy takes 1d6 instead of 1d4 and the wielder still takes the 1d4 damage. The increases stay the same per the text rising by an additional die with every 6 item levels. This will still afford the opportunity to offset and deal more damage to the enemy, though it still has the risk of the backlash and dealing more damage to the wielder depending on the rolls.
I think the star wars television series could do good in reviving the lot as it will take away from the Skywalker family line. I think something back towards the old republic era would be cool, or even the Legacy series taking place far into the future. Though that was still Luke's great-great-great grandchild.
Not that I am not enjoying the new stuff. I actually like it, minus a few odd spots, such as they had the perfect opportunity to end Leia's arc and for some reason didn't, even after she died in real life.

@Draka- Zane has it correct. You can have multiple but when a crit happens you have to choose one or the other.
The Zane
The Starfinder rules - and I can understand why due to guns/lasers- give the hero damage each time.
Let me run through a simulation and we can see the effect: 7 round combat vs an enemy with 22 EAC.
Round 1
hero attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16
vicious damage to hero: 1d4 ⇒ 4
vicious damage if hit: 1d4 ⇒ 1
Round 2
hero attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (18) + 11 = 29
vicious damage to hero: 1d4 ⇒ 2
vicious damage if hit: 1d4 ⇒ 4
Round 3
hero attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (12) + 11 = 23
vicious damage to hero: 1d4 ⇒ 1
vicious damage if hit: 1d4 ⇒ 1
Round 4
hero attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (3) + 11 = 14
vicious damage to hero: 1d4 ⇒ 1
vicious damage if hit: 1d4 ⇒ 2
Round 5
hero attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (7) + 11 = 18
vicious damage to hero: 1d4 ⇒ 3
vicious damage if hit: 1d4 ⇒ 1
Round 6
hero attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (12) + 11 = 23
vicious damage to hero: 1d4 ⇒ 3
vicious damage if hit: 1d4 ⇒ 1
Round 7.
hero attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (18) + 11 = 29
vicious damage to hero: 1d4 ⇒ 4
vicious damage if hit: 1d4 ⇒ 3
Results: Zane damage:18
Enemy Damage: 9
GM Tyranius

Though you can use D6 instead of D4 for damage on the enemy.
Round 1 damage: 1d6 ⇒ 4
Round 2 damage: 1d6 ⇒ 2
Round 3 damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6
Round 4 damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Round 5 damage: 1d6 ⇒ 5
Round 6 damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Round 7 damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3
With your rolls this would set you at.
Results: Zane damage:18
Enemy Damage: 24
Even if you took the averages you would set at (over the course of 10 rounds)
Zane damage: 20 damage
Enemy damage: 30 damage
@Draka- Depends on the play style really. Majority of Starfinder is still around lvl 3-4 so difficult to tell at this point.

So I have a $10 retail voucher for Paizo that I'd like to give to anyone that buys stuff from Paizo.
I got it at last weekend's con. A boon for rolling high.
I have the $10 claim code and can either scan it and upload the image under a spoiler or just type the $10 claim code.
True Results: Zane damage:18
Enemy Damage: 12
This ratio is still terrible from a metagaming standpoint- but I'm good as it works roleplaying wise for Zane.
Are we god having a house rule of 1D6 for enemies and 1D4 for Hero? THe hero takes damage on each miss and hit. The enemy takes damage on hits only.

Ahh! My post from yesterday didn't post! D:
I like to buy things from my local game stores to support the business. Hobby shops are amazing! I actually met my husband at one playing MTG! Ahh, memories <3
I did, however, buy the Starfinder shirt (with the space goblin on it) from Paizo.com. I planned to wear it to SFS, but I found an awesome GM on Discord and I've been playing in his games so I haven't had the chance to wear it out. D: I recommend using it to buy yourself a shirt. I think they're decent quality. (And you get a reroll if you wear it! ...I think?)

+1 to all Saves
+1 Mechanic Trick (Nightvision Processor (low light vision, 60’ darkvision))
+1 Comprehend Languages per day (2)
Tip of the Tongue (6th Level Theme bonus)
Sometimes, after pausing to collect your thoughts, you realize that you know the answer to a particularly challenging question. Once per day, you can reroll any skill check to recall knowledge. You must decide to use this ability after rolling but before learning the information from your first roll. You must take the second result, even if it is worse.

+10 HP (60)
+1 BAB (5)

Thanks for the offer Zane! I'll pass though, preferring that someone other than I take the $10. Pay it forward indeed! :)

"It has concerned me that our shields weren't operating as efficiently as possible, so I tweaked the stack. Watch..."
As usual, I have some suggestions for the Sunrise Maiden. We need to upgrade our shields, which necessitates an upgrade to the engines (we were nearly out of power). I think our sensors should be longer range than our weapons, so I think we should boost that as well. Finally, a nod to defense, and a bigger gun on our turret.
Oh, and when I buy a new rifle, I'll mount mine on the ship as an anti-personnel measure to sweeten the deal. It can take potshots at folks trying to break into the ship and stuff. :)
UPGRADE 6th level (20/20BP) (6/29PCU)(Computer to Tier 3 (+4 Hack DC 25))
Core Upgrade to Pulse Blue (+3BP, 25PCU)
Basic Long range sensors (+5BP)
Medium Shields 120 (+5BP, +5PCU)
Upgrade Turret Mount to Heavy (+6BP)
Weapon Upgrade: Heavy Laser Cannon (-2BP)
Mk 4 defenses (+2 BP, +1 PCU)
Antipersonnel weapon (longarm) (1BP for lvl 1 gun (Azmuth Laser Rifle))
- - -
Let me know if you want to do anything different and I'll tweak. Feel free to make any suggestions for future levels as well so I can build it in. I have the next couple levels roughly sketched out (helps me think about what to do 'next') and it's more of the same - weapons/armor with some minor adjustments here and there to other systems.

I have a feeling we are going to do some starship combat very soon. It's been a lot of regular action and we didn't even fight the pirates when there was some spaceship action.
I can't wait to test dive the changes you made!

Draka, I am in tears from laughing so hard at your post. Exceptional writing and time spent putting that together. You were so wonderfully in character and very inclusive of all the PC's. Roleplaying is such an interactive push of a story that morphs and mutates because of the characters - not the character classes. +1 to your post and keep up the work and laughs. I so look forward to reading and laughing each day.
I'd include shout outs to the other PC's but Draka's video already does that in detail!
The Zane
Quick Shopping request- whenever we do it. Zane needs a level 7 blade to work with the bleed fusion - that's probably a Devastation Blade- Wrack at 5500 credits. What's it looking like for upgrade loot?
I only ask as Zane might need to see about doing some roleplaying for the manufacture of a Cold Iron blade instead- that the GM grants Lvl 6 status or above- so the fusion works with HeroLab.
For the next stage, we need him doing 2D8 with blade vs. 1D10.If the Dev. Blade was Cold iron, that's be even better.
Aerav Brack Elijea
Well, divvy seems premature as I'm not completely sure we're done here, but happy to start chatting about it.
Draka is a bit behind us in WBL, so I'd like to do an uneven distribution to help her catch up. Basically we'd give her the proceeds from the silver bars as a bonus, in addition to the share we'll all get. If that's agreeable to everyone, divvy should come out to 3,871 credits each with 8,671 credits (total) for Draka. Is that OK?
Everyone please check the loot list and claim anything you might want before I sell the rest when we get back to civilization. I think we've picked over stuff pretty well, but here's your last chance. :)
The Zane
I'm not asking for a Divvy. Just trying to see what we are looking at as he will need to do some in game character work on the Cold Iron. 3871 is not enough for a new Devastation Blade at 5500 - so need to have something made that will hopefully lower the overall cost.
Fine with Draka getting extra cut. While I know I'm asking about items- it's because having the bleeding fusion but it not working with herolab is like an itch that I can't scratch. I don't care much about credits or items, it's that the rules drive me to distraction.

He did it. Tommy Wiseau is in a music video - and has a speaking part. Elements of the video are reminiscent of The Room too. Or maybe he just brought roses to the set and said "I'm using these."
