Five-star Hound of Tindalos. Er, GM. Whatever. | RoW Encounter Map |

The ice troll falls before your onslaught, but her wounds heal!
Ali tries fire and finds that the ice troll has a consumed a potion of resist fire! OH NO!

BUT...Ali has acid splash prepared (I checked to be sure!) and that does the trick! Victory is indeed yours!

Out of combat!

loot:
The ice troll carries a key which works in the chest (along with another key that doesn't seem to open anything here). The chest contains a total of 767 gp in various coins, a potion of spider climb, and a prized collection of 12 brightly polished human skulls.

In addition, her +1 battleaxe is Large-sized but would function in your hands as a Medium-sized +1 greataxe.

Question: how long have we been here? With returning the children and all has it been 24 hrs? Can I pray for more spells?

Does the unknown key open the cells that had the children?

Five-star Hound of Tindalos. Er, GM. Whatever. | RoW Encounter Map |

It has only been a few hours.

Remember that you've got a diversion being manufactured for you so that the Tower is less guarded. (I know that was a while back, so I linked to it.)

Lastly, so that any opinion can be an informed one: there are three more floors of the Tower. GM-to-player, and breaking the fourth wall for a bit, I count at least five more encounters (may or may not be combat encounters, BTW). There's no crime in withdrawing and taking stock, of course; just be aware that there will undoubtedly be consequences.

After the troll is put down permanently, Kappi turns to Ali clearly impressed. Acid, excellent

The rogue turns and helps w/ the looting. While everyone is looking around Kappi does take a few moments to study the polished skulls. Not only does he look for gold/silver teeth. But he looks at them from an anatomical point of view. Specifically looking the weakest points of the skull for the best places to lay a critical strike with sh sword and/or dagger...

After the party is confident we found everything worth taking, Kappi leads to the next door.

The door is locked, but Kappi's nimble fingers have done this countless times before, and he makes quick work of the lock (take 10 for 23).

Toys and dolls are strewn about the floor of this room, and small tables and chairs sit in the northeast and northwest corners. Books, papers, quills, and ink vials sit atop the tables; the windows are barred, but the shutters are open to let in the natural light.

A cot stands to the southeast, on which sits a little girl perhaps 8 years old. She starts at your arrival, then looks wonderingly at you for a split second before putting her finger to her lips. Have you met Granny Nan yet?

The girl's name is Inga, and she is happy to share what she knows. Granny Nan, an old woman, has kept her here for several days trying to get her to eat. She's told Inga many times that she has nothing to fear and that she should write more letters to Queen Elvanna to ask forgiveness for her sins. But I can see through that old woman, Inga says with some defiance. She has something else in mind, though I don't know what.

She mentions that Granny Nan has a little ghost who follows her around, kind of a swirl of junk and dust bunnies and a broken toy or two. It's weird.

    DC 19 Kn (religion):
You aren't sure, but from Inga's description, it sounds as though the "little ghost" is an attic whisperer, an undead creature which spawns as the result of a lonely or neglected child's death; it rises from an amalgam of old toys, clothing, dust, and other icons of the child's neglect.
