I believe Edward can easily heal us all w/ just a short break and his magic boots. It wasn't that long ago we holed up for a rest to replenish spells and such.

Kappi helps the barbarian kindle a jaunty fire from parts of the treant while they take a short break and let Edward get the healing done.

Inside, the room is completely disheveled, its once-comfortable chairs and seats now bearing shredded upholstery and broken wood. Several piles of discarded feathers and cloths that used to be used for comfort are strewn about the room.

Looking startled, and somewhat guilty, is a human-sized figure clad in red robes and wrappings. Picture just left of the map.

It looks about frantically, then speaks in a tongue none of you understand before it touches its face and begins again.

Greetings, travellers! Its voice is raspy and its phrasing stilted as it continues. I request you to join me and meet my Master. Very interested in the inhabitants of this garden, my Master is.

The figure reaches into the folds of its clothing and produces an apple-sized red gemstone as it cocks its head to the left slightly. Enticement?

Hearing a language he doesn't know, Davosh raises an eyebrow. Not the one over the Big Eye mind you, that would be uncouth in an introduction. The other one; the normal one.

While the pog is still visible, the figure in red actually closed the door behind them, so there is currently no line of sight you can see.

    Kappi:

Climbing the iron rungs brings the young Varisian to the trap door, which appears unlocked but looks rusted and disused. It actually opens astonishingly easy, and a cold blast of air rushes in as Kappi swings the lid up, noting the absence of an expecting groaning creak.

Out side the light is dim; after a few seconds, it doesn't get any brighter. Kappi imagines it must be twilight outside as he tentatively climbs up and sticks his head out into the cold air.

It isn't twilight, though. The sun is out and illuminating the landscape, though Kappi notes it is far smaller than usual when he squints at it in the cloudless sky. Frowning, he looks about, seeing that the Hut is nestled between a trio of snow-capped peaks amid a mountain range as far as he can see...which, in the oddly dim light, isn't as far as he's used to.

The air is crisp, but thin; he can feel his lungs working a bit harder to fill with air, and what is that scent? He has never smelled anything quite like it, like a pine aroma mixed with fresh tar. But not exactly that, either -- it's just as close as he can come to identifying the smell. It isn't unpleasant, just...odd.

Five-star Hound of Tindalos. Er, GM. Whatever. | RoW Encounter Map | A Fistful of Flowers slides

Kappi tries a fancy maneuver, but the denizen of Leng is lightning-fast, its horrible mouth of tentacles and unnatural growths chomping down on the Rogue!

    AoO vs. AC 24: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (18) + 16 = 34
    dmg: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
    plus DEX drain: 1d6 ⇒ 4

The bite is painful, but what is worse is the radiating sensation of numbness than explodes through Kappi's body! He has never felt so slow and sluggish.

    GM stuff (pt 1):
sneak attack, high good for party: 1d100 ⇒ 24
confirmed crit, high good for party: 1d100 ⇒ 98

His hands fumble with his sword, and he plunges it into what he is sure is a vital spot...but the flesh morphs around his blade, preventing what was a devastating blow! 50% chance to ignore precision damage and critical hits! Sneak failed, crit does confirm!

    GM stuff (pt 2):

    D 68
    M 0, -4 to saves

    Round 1
    baddies — baddie stuff
Kappi — pays the price for movement

Ali takes a deep breath, and casts a spell of Displacement to try to defend herself against the big ugly. She then steps between it and Vojtek, trying to break up the potential flank.

I really REALLY hope this isn't the wrong call...

What could possibly go wrong? ;-)

Ali spells up and steps in!

Some of the ...skin, you guess? on the denizen of Leng fills back in, like sand returning to an hourglass in reverse! Fast healing. It then focuses on the Northman!

    claw 1 vs. Vojtek AC 22: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (7) + 16 = 23

    confirm vs. Vojtek AC 22: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (17) + 16 = 33

    bite vs. Vojtek AC 22: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (13) + 16 = 29
    dmg: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
plus DEX drain: 1d6 ⇒ 6 Need a DC 21 Fort save on the DEX drain from Vojtek! Success means only 1 point of DEX drain.

35 pts on 3 hits, plus a FORT save on the DEX drain.

The denizen of Leng savages Vojtek, its dreadful bite bestowing upon him the same radiating sensation of numbness Kappi experienced! So slow, so sluggish...

The red-robed horror then steps out of the flank!

The massive white revulsion messes with the group's mind, the burst catching both Ali and Vojtek! DC 23 Will saves from each!

    uh-oh:
    You are confused!

Kappi — GO Also, please roll a DC 21 Fort save on Kappi's DEX drain before. If successful, you only suffer 1 point of DEX drain, not 4. (Management regrets the error.)
    Ali — GO
    Edward — GO
Vojtek — Fort save, then GO
    Davosh — GO

  • Davosh gives a laugh that even his friends feel in their guts. He pulls out a small crystal and holds it before his Big Eye. Holding it with oddly articulated fingers, he stares at the spell caster through the crystal. "Behold denizen all the generations of ancestors and crumble before the weight of their wisdom and power!"

Cackle to extend the -4 to saves. Feeblemind Will DC 23. Fingers crossed that its spells are arcane, so that's a net -8 on the save.
