Vojtek's draconic heart quickens with lust for the displayed trove, but his stoicism wins out.

Davosh however is having none of it. The wiry and proud barbarian endures the Speaker-With-the-Ancestors' rough handling of Vojtek's hands and crude measurement of the circumference of his head with what could be interpreted as abject terror...

Davosh suggests, "This young man needs a Headband of Havoc or perhaps a pair of Gauntlets of the Weaponmaster... Surely you could bring him those! Eh?"

Davosh very nearly unleashes The Eye at the blue skinned outsider, so intense is that final 'Eh' and Vojtek visibly relaxes when Davosh's attention swivels away from his person.

Oh, my goodness, no, Zilvazaraat the Magnificent says to Davosh. I'm afraid this staff belonged to my best friend’s sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with a girl who got it from 31 Flavors last month. It's pretty serious.

He does consider the request Davosh has for Vojtek. Hmm, he says, pursing his blue mercane lips and drumming his three fingers in thought. I can probably source that for you, human. It will take 1d4 of your Golarion days to do so, however.

    Vojtek asks warily, "How much?"

Five-star Hound of Tindalos. Er, GM. Whatever. | RoW Encounter Map | A Fistful of Flowers slides

Well, now, Zilvazaraat the Magnificent replies thoughtfully, that will all depend on what lengths I need to go through to get it. More trouble, more cost, you see. It's simple economics.

Now, it's not my job to speculate... wait, hold on now, I guess it is my job to speculate, on what someone will buy and/or sell! Aren't I caught with my hand in the cookie jar just now! ...were I to speculate, and I suppose I am, I'd guess that would run about 9000 of your gold pieces. Or something equivalent in trade, of course.

    1. Someone calculate a correct sale amount and party distribution.

Silver tongued Edward pats Vojtek on the shoulder and steps in to haggle. My good man, I'm sure you can get a better price for our trusty Northman. The paladin now pauses and looks the trader in the eye. He emphasizes this next We were the ones to rescue you from that soul crushing prison...

Five-star Hound of Tindalos. Er, GM. Whatever. | RoW Encounter Map | A Fistful of Flowers slides

Ah! Well stated, well stated! Zilvazaraat the Magnificent responds. For friends of ZILVAZARAAT THE MAGNIFICENT, we have a small discount!

Now, normally such a discount would be half off the double list price -- but because I like you lot, I'll offer, shall we say, 10%?

    Kappi:
Kappi knows that the price of each item in the mercane's inventory is inflated by just about 10 percent. What his offer is brings it just about to normal price. Kappi recalls, from his days working with his uncle's caravan in Varisia, that an offer like that is a pretty decent one.

I think we need the elemental fire gem. That crazy headband would make Vojtek even more of a force to be reckoned with. Lets do this.

With a list in place [ooc](see the post here), Zilvazaraat the Magnificent departs via his plane shift SLA, letting you know he will return to the Hut in three days' time.

Kappi leads the party into a dense grove of coniferous trees, where deep shadows cloak the barren soil. A twisting, disused trail winds its way into the depths of the wood.

    Kappi:
In the middle of the clearing on the other side of the grove, Kappi can see an immense anthropomorphic tree, its trunk easily fifteen feet across. Its eyes appear closed.

Vojtek asks plainly, "Do we have to?". Discretion often being the better part of HP maintenance, if skipping is an option Vojtek supports the idea.

Alas... it looks like from Kappi's description that there are doors and a portion of unmapped area that way.

Vojtek tightens his grip on his massive blade and pads softly into position behind the lad.

"I'm ready little brother." the barbarian whispers.

Plants are not immune to sneak attack, correct.

I reached out to Davosh and Vojtek this morning (sorry I forgot you on the message, Ali!) and, presuming their life is calmed down enough to continue, I just need the party to make a decision and we can get rolling again.

I'll let that trigger initiative. I moved people on the map.

As the party reaches the grove, a sickly, overgrown ash tree, with tangled drooping branches jutting out at peculiar angles and malignant knots disfiguring its trunk shouts. Trespassers! This is my home! Why are you treading on my ground?

I'm going to rule that Kappi's description before was enough for Davosh to know this:

    Quote:
This is a treant, a Huge creature with plant traits.

Ali powers up her blade and quickens the party, while Kappi makes good on his stealth, though he finds that his short sword has a tough time stabbing through the bark! Damage reduction applied.

The massive tree-person, enraged, shouts threats and insults, drifting from tongue to tongue.

    Davosh:
Davosh can make out words in Aklo, Elven, and Sylvan -- murderers and wytch kin and lying thieves. The treant's name seems to be Dawnbark, and she has not only called Ali's mother many unsavory things but is questioning Kappi's parentage as well.

Able to see the young Varisian now, the treant lashes at Kappi with a pair of massive boughs!

    1d10 + 1d10 + 5 ⇒ (9) + (4) + 5 = 18

At least the good hot roll had great damage rolls

Davosh tries to take advantage of the fact that trees aren't dexterous.
    DC 21 Refl: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
    ...and successfully!

Ali lands another blow from her flaming blade! The treant looks bruised and battered, but has not yet fallen...

      Round the Second
    • Current HPs: 129/129

Lighting! Flames! Vojtek is pleased the ancestors hate the tree as much as he does. It feels right somehow to continue his rage fuelled assault with his axe. The grim barbarian even tears at an errant branch with his teeth!

    Great Axe: 1d20 + 18 - 3 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 18 - 3 + 2 + 1 = 32 for Damage: 1d12 + 12 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 12 + 9 = 24

    Great Axe: 1d20 + 18 - 3 - 5 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 18 - 3 - 5 + 2 + 1 = 27 for Damage: 1d12 + 12 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 12 + 9 = 23

    And Wartooth Gnash!: 1d20 + 12 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 12 + 2 + 1 = 31 for Damage: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8.

And for good measure he takes advantage of his quickened reflexes and hastily hacks at the tree yet again.

    Great Axe: 1d20 + 18 - 3 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 18 - 3 + 2 + 1 = 32 for Damage: 1d12 + 12 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 12 + 9 = 24

    Vojtek's axe fells the tree!

Out of combat! The lightning bolt and Ali's flame were big difference-makers there!

    DC 30 Perception:
In the treant's bark, almost grown over with time, the outline of a ring can be seen. It detects as magic.

    DC 22 Spellcraft:

    Spoiler:
This is a ring of spell knowledge II. It currently has a remove paralysis spell stored inside.

The Varisian lad is also pretty banged up from the tree.

Perhaps Kappi is less than observant with half his ribs stove in
