Kappi Matarito |

The lad nods in agreement. He shakes his arms out and bounces on the balls of his feet. Nervous energy marks his movements.
After a short while his motions become calm. He makes Desna's mark over his brow. He is ready.

The 7 identical Alis take out a wand of shield & pop one off. Ready!. She pulls out her bow, then is ready to cast Haste as soon as everyone sounds off & Vojtek gives the nod

Ed stands up from his prayers, steely determination on his face. We make our way back to the giants. He stops his friend to offer and request a blessing.
“Do not be far from us, my God; come quickly, God, to help us. May our accusers perish in shame; may those who want to harm us be covered with scorn and disgrace.”
He then waits until battle is almost joined to ask for a bit more divine favor for himself.

Davosh takes up position and casts a spell of Message. "This will help us communicate the timing."

Ali'yanah D'ohr'hein |

The Elven Septuplets turn to the barbarian. So, Vojtek--who goes in to draw the giants out into the hall? You? Me? Or both of us?

GM thunderspirit |

Kappi gets ready and lays in wait to strike
Stealth 1d20+17
Kappi's knowledge of giants is enough to know they aren't especially observant. Taking 10 will probably be sufficient. So keep that 19 for your next d20 roll.

Davosh the Wanderer |

"NOT YOU." Davosh looks at all seven Ali's at the same time. "Your spell is a precaution, not an invitation. Let Vojtek draw them out. Once they're busy, THEN strike."
Davosh then whispers into all 14 ears, "Remember, Rule #36 and #40. Open with a little 144."

Vojtek Wartooth |

Vojtek creeps forward, trusting in the GM and his training counting coup on the caribou and reindeer on the tundra at the edge of the ice.
take 10 stealth = 13
He pads softly up the hallway towards the room and draws his exceptionally powerful compound bow. The bodkin point rests gently against the knuckles on his left hand as he seeks a giant for a target.

Ali'yanah D'ohr'hein |

Ali placed I also placed Ed where I thought he should go, but I'm not the authority on that so feel free to override my decision!

GM thunderspirit |

With his companions ready, the Northman draws his bow and makes to kick in the door, then thinks better of it and instead nudges it open with his foot.
The chamber beyond still contains the remains of an oversized wooden construction, but instead of being strewn about the room the wreckage is now stacked neatly and carefully in front of the far set of double doors.
FYI, all: message allows Vojtek to whisper what he finds to everyone, so no need to spoiler it at this time.

GM thunderspirit |

Definitely the former. It is clearly intended to be a barrier.

Ali'yanah D'ohr'hein |

Mabye we should move our operations to that room, use their own barrier against them? Vojtek, can we open the barricade enough to send missiles through it?

GM thunderspirit |

Vojtek shrugs, then after a moment realizes no one can see him shrug. :-)
I'll take a combination of Kn (engineering) and Disable Device checks to try and manipulate the barricade that way.

GM thunderspirit |

Kappi inspects the barricade and quickly waves Vojtek away, reaching into several spots before extracting a pair of Large greataxes set to swing at anyone trying to disassemble it!
One down, one to go!

Vojtek Wartooth |

Vojtek releases the tension on his incredible bow with a barely discernible creak of the sinew and bone along its length. He peers at the goings-on with interest, wondering if there are any giants hiding behind the barrier.
After whatever trap might be set is disarmed...
"Speaker-With-the-Ancients, could your snow-weasel see what is on the far side of this barrier?"
And assuming we are alone in the room...
Then Vojtek directs Kappi, "If we are alone, scatter the barrier around the room quietly as you can. If they return, fight. If we can destroy their work like a few mice in the cupboard, then we can make a big noise like we set off the trap. When they come in, we kill them in the way we planned."

![]() |

Ed nods, lets get it done. He positions himself to support by fire with his bow, while keeping some cover around the corner.
Remember we need to fight these one at a time if we can. They have a huge advantage in space with reach. Don't be afraid to draw them to the hall where they have to squeeze.

GM thunderspirit |

your snow-weasel
This made me legit LOL
Davosh's discerning eye (yes, probably THAT one) finds that the barricade has been build to tumble down atop whomever tries to disassemble it.
You are indeed alone in the room. Vojtek has proposed a plan. What's the plan to execute it?

Vojtek Wartooth |

Vojtek ponders this new information... he brightens, "Tie a rope to just the right spot, go back down the hallway and tug! The trap will fall, and when they come in to see, I can shoot them from safety."
He hands Kappi a length of rope and nods to the pile.

Ali'yanah D'ohr'hein |

Ali taps herself with the Shield wand again, draws out her bow, and nods in readiness
Not entirely sure where the best spot to be is...but for now I'm in hallway. Move me if needed.

Kappi Matarito |

Vojtek ponders this new information... he brightens, "Tie a rope to just the right spot, go back down the hallway and tug! The trap will fall, and when they come in to see, I can shoot them from safety."
He hands Kappi a length of rope and nods to the pile.
The lad of course follows Vojtek's orders. He carefully ties off the rope and then hides in the room ready to strike.

Davosh the Wanderer |

"And you know that this moment in time is for real, and you know when you feel Deja vu." Davosh looks around at the whole show and shakes his head. "Look at how we're placed... Ugh. Aye lads. Let's not get stuck in here. Just pull the rope."

GM thunderspirit |

With the party strategically placed, Kappi tugs the rope, and the timber barricade wall collapses in a noisy pile! A series of gruff, muffled shouts can be heard on the other side of the door, and then...
The fallen timber creates difficult terrain for the party, but the giants appear unimpeded by it due to their size.
Ali: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21
Davosh: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Edward: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Kappi: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Vojtek: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
Round 1
Ali — GO
Edward — GO
Vojtek — GO
Kappi — GO
Davosh — GO
baddies — TBD

Davosh the Wanderer |

"Clear! Clear! I need to drop the tentacles!" Davosh rushes forward and casts Blessing of Fervor. I don't think I can get Kappi, but remember Kappi has an Aid spell on him.

Ali'yanah D'ohr'hein |

Even with the speed of the Blessing, Ali decides to still enhance the party further and casts Haste.
The Haste effect & BoF extra attack effects don't stack--but you can pick a different BoF effect instead of the "extra attack" and that WILL stack
The Magus and her 6 mirrors are ready to stand with Vojtek, or retreat, as the situation demands.

RAGING VOJTEK!!!! |

- Round the First
- Current HPs: 112/112
- Raging
Composite Longbow of the Centaur +5: 1d20 + 11 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 11 + 1 + 1 = 23 for Damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10.
In a flash, Vojtek's rage boils over and an arrow twangs from his absurdly powerful bow.
Composite Longbow of the Centaur +5: 1d20 + 11 - 5 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 11 - 5 + 1 + 1 = 17 for Damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10.
A second arrow follows close behind, but is not as well aimed as the first.
Composite Longbow of the Centaur +5: 1d20 + 11 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 11 + 1 + 1 = 24 for Damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8.
The black fletching from his third arrow streaks across the room, a barely perceptible blur.

Kappi Matarito |

Round 1
Kappi freezes for a heart beat as the huge giants come in through the door. His initial plan was to stay behind in stealth and attack from behind, but seeing the giants in the flesh again he feels that may be suicide. Brave suicide, but foolhardy none the less.
The lad hurls an tomahawk and runs for the relative safety of the hallway.
Throwing attack 1d20 + 14 - 1 ⇒ (17) + 14 - 1 = 30
tomahawk 1d6 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 1 + 2 = 8

GM thunderspirit |

I'll let Ali's haste go off, which I'll rule gets Davosh as well and allows him to get Kappi with the blessing of fervor. That means Vojtek will choose the +2 from the blessing for a +2 instead of the haste's +1, right...? Let's presume so, because...
The last of Vojtek's angry shots plants itself into the thigh of the lead giant, who howls in pain! Similarly, Kappi's tomahawk lands in the giant's other thigh!
Round 1
Ali — spell
Edward — GO
Vojtek — pew pew pew
Kappi — fling axe
Davosh — spell
baddies — TBD

Ali'yanah D'ohr'hein |

POINT OF ORDER: Doesn't Kappi get sneak attack??
also, for your convenience: Blessing of Fervor
special note on blessing of fervor: "These effects are not cumulative with similar effects, such as those provided by haste or a speed weapon, nor do they actually grant an extra action, so you can't use it to cast a second spell or otherwise take an extra action in the round. Blessing of fervor does not stack with haste." So as TS says above...even though the + to hit are unnamed, and dodge bonuses usually stack, in this case they DON'T stack. So if you choose +2 hit/AC for BoF, those don't stack with Haste (but you WOULD still get the extra attack on a full attack from haste)

GM thunderspirit |

POINT OF ORDER: Doesn't Kappi get sneak attack??
I'm going to rule they are not flatfooted, since they had to open the door. So no sneak dice.
The rest of Ali's post is on point.

Round 1
Giants you stand against the will of Apsu, surrender or die. Here is a taste of Apsu's wrath. Remember Rule 26 so focus fire on front one.
Includes buffs BoF (to hit and a/c), Haste (extra attack), Bless(Moral), and Divine Favor(Luck), pbs
Longbow: 1d20 + 12 + 2 + 1 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 12 + 2 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 36
Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Longbow: 1d20 + 7 + 2 + 1 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 7 + 2 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 26
Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Longbow: 1d20 + 12 + 2 + 1 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 12 + 2 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 23
Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Ed then steps 5'back to help usher an escape route for his friends.

GM thunderspirit |

Two of Edward's arrows hit home!
Blue moves forward (provoking from Vojtek's teeth and from Kappi, if he has a weapon out after throwing a tomahawk) and takes a mighty swing at the Northman!
Awesome Blow, CMB vs. raging CMD 28: 1d20 + 20 - 3 ⇒ (6) + 20 - 3 = 23
But Vojtek is too quick for the lumbering giant!
Green comes forward and greets Kappi similarly!
Awesome Blow, CMB vs. CMD 23: 1d20 + 20 - 3 ⇒ (3) + 20 - 3 = 20 saved by Power Attack!
Kappi likewise dodges the fearsome swing!
Round 2
Ali — GO
Edward — GO
Vojtek — GO
Kappi — GO
Davosh — GO
baddies — TBD

Davosh the Wanderer |

Davosh begins whispering to the ancients. His feet leave the ground. In a moment he's over the heads of his companions. He opens his Big Eye and stares intently at the uninjured Giant. Evil Eye. -4 to Attack rolls. Will DC 21 to reduce to 1 round.

GM thunderspirit |

Green DC 21 Will: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Green -4 to attacks

GM thunderspirit |

15' high in this room. Davosh will need to cast defensively.

Kappi Matarito |

Round 2
Kappi narrowly avoids the huge giant. The Varisian lad lets out a little shriek and slips behind Vojtek and past Ali to stand behind her and sort of under Davosh. By this time his favorite tomahawk is back on his magic belt. He skillfully throws it past his friends at the closer giant.
Throwing attack w/ Precise Shot 1d20 + 14 - 1 ⇒ (15) + 14 - 1 = 28
tomahawk 1d6 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 1 + 2 = 8
Do I need to use acrobatics to retreat w/out provoking? Have acrobatics +17

GM thunderspirit |

Do I need to use acrobatics to retreat w/out provoking? Have acrobatics +17
You will, yes. Kappi is very much threatened by both giants.

Kappi Matarito |

Kappi Matarito wrote:Do I need to use acrobatics to retreat w/out provoking? Have acrobatics +17You will, yes. Kappi is very much threatened by both giants.
Spurred on by adrenaline the lad moves and slips, ducks and feints, hops and rushes till he is out of the giant’s really long reach.
Acrobatics 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (12) + 17 = 29

![]() |

Round 2
Current Buffs: Haste, Blessing of Fervor, Bless, Divine Favor
Ed sticks with the plan and retreats down the hall making room. He does however ready a shot from his bow if one of the giants comes into view.
the double doors to the south are open, what can we see?
I also suggest that you include current buffs with each post so you don't forget any. Like everyone has bless.

GM thunderspirit |

Kappi just barely manages to avoid the first giant's swinging axe...but the second, not so much.
Green AoO vs Kappi: 1d20 + 20 - 3 - 4 ⇒ (10) + 20 - 3 - 4 = 23
dmg: 3d6 + 22 ⇒ (6, 5, 4) + 22 = 37
The Varisian's bell is rung by the giant's greataxe, but he retreats from danger for the time being. Once secure behind his friends, his tomahawk strikes Blue again!
Green -4 to attacks
Round 2
Ali — GO
Edward — move, ready
Vojtek — GO
Kappi — move (ouch), tomahawk
Davosh — hex-o-matic
baddies — TBD

RAGING VOJTEK!!!! |

AoO: 1d20 + 11 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 11 + 2 + 1 = 16 for 1d4 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 4 + 1 = 9 damage.

RAGING VOJTEK!!!! |

Round the Second
Vojtek barely registers the other members of the party behind him, trusting them to edge back into the hallway and to rely on ranged attacks against these behemoths... He thoughtlessly tosses his incredible bow behind him and draws his mighty axe.
The northman lowers his stance and shrieks a reptilian challenge to the Giants, with the interesting effect of producing a few swirling snowflakes and tiny shards of ice from his gaping throat.v 3 more levels till he gets a breath weapon!
Great Axe: 1d20 + 17 - 3 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 17 - 3 + 2 + 1 = 25 for Damage: 1d12 + 12 + 9 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 12 + 9 + 1 = 27
And Wartooth Gnash!: 1d20 + 11 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 11 + 2 + 1 = 16 for 1d4 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 4 + 1 = 9 damage.
Great Axe: 1d20 + 17 - 3 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 17 - 3 + 2 + 1 = 27 for Damage: 1d12 + 12 + 9 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 12 + 9 + 1 = 28
The axe swings at the creature's already wounded leg, then Vojtek snaps his jaws at the bloody appendage, before heaving the axe overhead once again for a follow-up attack with magically uncanny speed.
Vojtek shuffles back a bit further into the hallway as he hefts his axe lightly in his calloused hands. 5' back
