  • Vincent is interested in checking out the various animal enclosures, securing shelter for the evening and visiting the foundry, in no particular order. If others are interested in those things, he'll go with them, but if not, he'll split off and wander a bit on his own.

    While he's out and about, he'll also be keeping an eye out for opportunities to learn more about the town, the surrounding area and the planet, as well as anything that might help determine what happened to our mythic abilities. When we settle down for the night I'll probably do some experimentation with mythic power to test what happened since so far all we have to go on is Phai's bad experience.

    Good news, everybody! Legendary Games just sent out the next book of this AP to backers of their Kickstarter campaign, which includes myself. That means I now have Parts 3 and 4 (which was released earlier because of reasons) ready to go as soon as you reach them. ^^

    (If you haven't been keeping track, you're currently in the early middle section of Part 2 of 7, not counting the prologue)

  • Just got my Spheres of Might playtest documents. Looks like it's shaping up to be a pretty cool system. Would be interesting to run a game in the future using only Spheres of Power and Spheres of Might.

  • Why not only them? Between the two, it seems to cover just about anything you'd need in a party.

    You'd want to coordinate with the party to cover different roles of course, but it should work I would think.

  • I really like all of our characters. I agree that they really seem to fit the theme well and make for interesting interactions.

    With CoP it's funny because I don't need to feign confusion. As a player I have no idea how his character works.

    My original idea for Child was "android who could load the souls of his dead creators as variable combat programming" but I decided to go for a more planar feel.

    Basically, I picked the two most variable classes I could think of, which gives me an arbitrary pool of resources that I can dump into whatever, to whatever quantity I can think of.

    Oh also: at MR3, I get Ultimate Versatility and can reshuffle any of my 2,000 class abilities 1/day, so we got that to look forward to.


    Speaking of, I saw a recent comment that you're probably going to cap out at Tier 4 for Mythic Power, so plan accordingly. o wo/

    That...is good to know.
    It equates to one single mythic Feat(unless more are taken via path abilities or that one is also locked into a pick)
    Also, it kind of diminishes the value of picking Legendary Item a second time, adding only 1 ability...albeit a stronger one than the previous ones. Would Tier 4 still enable soul-safe?

    Ah well, guess we'll see. If anything, we are currently shown in this plane that we should not assume mythic empowerment is available when needed most. So yeah, we'll see where things go. Thanks for the heads-up.

  • Looks like tier 4 gives me just barely enough stuff to get what I really really want, so that works out. I'll need to be a bit more picky, but I think it will work out.

    Tier 2: Legendary Item (Shield) with Eternal Bond and Unyielding powers
    Tier 3: Legendary Item (minor artifact) with Soul Safe power
    Tier 3 Feat trade for path ability: Component Freedom
    Tier 4: Sacrificial Shield

    Component Freedom and Sacrificial Shield might be reversed, depending on how critical I feel it is to move on to full plate (or if I find a really cool set of armor). Being a minor artifact is nice since I won't be able to actually destroy my shield by blocking with it, though I will break it a lot since I'll never get to tier 6's major artifact status.

    With Sacrificial Shield, if the damage doesn't exceed the shield's hardness, does it still break the shield? And if it becomes broken while still > 50% hp, how do you remove the broken condition?


    *Checks* Uh... it is do-able, but Vincent's list there is actually off. Eternal Bond has "Minor Artifact" (i.e. taking Legendary Item twice) as a prerequisite, which means you have to be at least third tier to take it. So he'd have to take Eternal Bond then, and then grab Soul Safe at 4th Tier.

    Still works, just bumps the open legendary item power up to Tier 2. A bit unfortunate that Soul Safe isn't until Tier 4 though, but still totally worth it.

    Aye...getting Soul Safe that late kind of reduces the usefulness. It's still no doubt worth getting, but I had hoped to get more mileage out of it.(Well, technically I hoped to get no mileage out of it - but thats beside the point)

    Aye, but he performed no other hostile action, so it could have been that the 40 or so diplomacy initiation roll made him stall his assault.

    Is he more than 150 feet or seems to go further than that(I know he's more than 100 up, but did he deccelerate as if planning to hover or is he still climbing)? Mainly asking about medium range-spells-

  • Yup, overland flight will be nice... someday. Until then I still have flying long distance pointy sticks, and magical never-miss hurty bolts. :D

    ...and I just realized that my spell failure was actually 20%, because I can't both Smite and reduce spell failure chance the same round and it's just a tiny bit past being able to edit the post. Fortunately, I rolled plenty high enough, that the spell failure doesn't matter.

    Oh... I just figured he couldn't reach me in one round, and used a power based on the assumption that initiative wouldn't matter for that round. I'll fall into order then.

    And yeah, "not staying on the ground" works less good when considering that our team is probably more equipped for ranged combat than he is (plus, our melee-only dudes can fly, but with also have weapons).

    P.S. Everyone, come hide under the big tent that is Child's AoO radius!

    Also apparently I read Fauchard wrong, it's an 18-20/x2 crit threat, so that could be a critical hit, hmm.
