Hi,

Here is my application for this game. I have followed it from the start as I love the work of the authors of this AP. By the way, thanks for making me aware of the Kickstarter for that one. I likely would have missed it otherwise.

I went with a Cleric of Desna/Unchained rogue. I wanted to build something about a cleric of Desna that would like to explore and discover but would also be very distressed at being abducted by aliens. I added the rogue class because it gives the character two very different roles and because I have not really played a rogue since AD&D2.

So I decided to go for an undine who was kidnapped as a Kid and exposed in a freak show before being rescued by cleric and followers of Desna. Everything is in the alias.
For arriving to the starting place of the campaign, she is tracking one of her kidnappers because she heard he had returned to his bad ways. The person in question hasn't been named voluntarily in the background so it could be integrated in the AP if necessary.

Thank you for considering my application. and I will welcome any feed-back and am open to modifying my character.

Dark Archive

It's Friday!

I decided that the Hedgewitch class was more appropriate for Kosmar than the Symbiat, and fixed up a few things that I had misconstrued during my first run through of the SoP stuff. He's still getting his power from the pendant, and Hotet is the spirit that he will be pulling his hedgewitch power from.

With that said, I believe I am ready to present the final draft of: Kosmar the Dark Champion.

Reposting for prosperity:

Sigvarr Khrulson - Bloodrager (Primalist)/Warder (Fiendbound Marauder)

Doctor Krochka - Witch (Herb Witch)/Alchemist (Chirurgeon/Crypt Breaker)

Maverick Silidar is ready to provide ranged support via spell or bow.

If selected, I'll tie his backstory to the starting location (and possibly other party members) after seeing the player's guide. My earlier post has several possible character motivations to end up at the starting town.

The submission.

Tiefling(Asura Spawn) - Stalker/Viatlist(Soulthief)

One trait is purposely left open in anticipation of campaign traits being made available.

Kickstarter Update: The sixth adventure - Mind Tyrants of the Merciless Moons - has been funded. Legendary Games has also announced that they now have enough funded to make them confident of releasing all parts of the adventure by their original goal. Pledging for the whole campaigns gets you the whole campaign - all seven adventures, plus the prologue. If you're still waffling about joining in, now's a good time to make the plunge - chances are it won't be this cheap again!

If selected, will we have an opportunity to make some tweaks, with approval of course? Some of the campaign races they showed off yesterday seemed cool, but obviously there's not enough info to incorporate to our characters right now.

Tweaks will be permitted. Might do so after the end of the prologue. ^^

Sotharal is essentially ready. I haven't done traits, since I am waiting for the campaign traits. I will also probably expand on the 'religion' section of her profile once the player's guide comes out.

Would now be the time you want us to relink our profile, and reconfirm interest? I want to go over Arialora one more time, but she should basically be ready. I'm also very interested to get my hands on the players' guide to see if any appropriate tweaks need to be made.

Now is the time to repost, yes. They've announced that the prologue (which we'll be playing) and the Player's Guide will be available immediately following the conclusion of the campaign, and the selected players will have a few days to go over that and adjust as desired.

Just realized I haven't converted from Myth-Weavers to forum character sheet yet. Will get done tomorrow.

This is Tenro's submission.

HERE is the backstory.

Reposting Ellie. Expect some more fleshing out before time is officially up. Finally graduated from college, hello free time. XD

Here is the profile. Story and sheet inside.

There are only seven days left to go before the Kickstarter funds. When there are 2-3 days left - this Friday/Saturday - please post your final character submission or provide a link to an earlier post you made with said submission. This is to see who's still following this thread and remains interested - profiles not posted at that time will not be considered. Once you have posted your final submission, please do not post anything else here - if you have any questions or comments, please PM them instead.

In that case, I'll post a link to a profile, to be in time. I know the official ending is a day later, but I suppose being able to follow basic directions is a necessity. It is, however, not a "final" submission, I will still tweak it until tomorrow night-

As I said, I have not managed to do all I wanted to do yet, but the basics + 10-minute background are inside.
Eliphas Diomedes, Unchained Monk/Cleric of Yidhra, future banisher of incorporeal undead mists.

PS: Yo, Yidhra, I created something for you! Hope it helps in re-establishing your rightful position!

Liberty's Edge

Howdy, Slyness here.

Here's the backstory for Strife, a Marksman/Witch starting off with a level of Slayer. The idea for him is that the events in Assimilation Strain will unlock his psionic potential. I will get the crunch into the profile shortly.

Background:

Strife slid off the wagon as it came to a stop at the edge of Holver's Ferry. He reached in to the wagon for his few belongings and turned to shake the driver's hand. Thom was a good sort, offering Strife a ride even as he warned Strife to stay away from the man's daughter. In other circumstances, Strife would have taken that as a challenge, but the farmer hadn't had anything personal against Strife; he just didn't want Sophi's heart to be broken when Strife inevitably moved on. The company had been pleasant enough and helped the miles go quicker. He told their fortunes, and played some cards, though not for money. "Only take coin from those who can afford it," Old Gershom used to say. "Or those who deserve it," he'd end with a wink. He called it the Gambler's Code.

As the farmer pulled away, Strife tipped his hat to Thom's wife and waved goodbye to the children. A cool breeze came off the river and Strife reveled in it for a long moment before setting his shoulders and beginning his search for whatever establishment catered to people's vices. Looking around, it didn't seem like there was anything special about this particular frontier town which made him think about why he'd come here.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

The Honey Rose was as respectable as one could hope for a whorehouse to be. The saloon was clean and Miss Joelle didn't water down the liquor too much. Strife was playing cards to distract himself from what was happening upstairs. The game was going well; he had a solid read on most of the other players who were easily studied, though the woman was confusing his usually reliable insight. From her dress and mannerisms, she seemed much too classy for a place like this. She definitely knew how to play, but didn't seem to be playing to win or even enjoying the game. It was as if she was bored, but resolved to see it through to the end. The cards in his head shuffled endlessly, never stopping to land on the one that captured her essence.

The night grew long and layers moved on, either upstairs with one of the girls, or to the inn next door. Finally, it was just Strife and the woman. A couple of hands in, and she couldn't call his raise. For the first time, she smiled. Strife was confused, especially with the cards still shuffling in his head. "Perhaps you will consider an alternative to coin," she asked in her wispy, melodic voice. She reached into a pocket and pulled out a small wooden container. He recognized the sound it made as she set the box down. She lifted the lid and, as he expected, there was a deck of cards inside. It appeared to be a very nice deck. The colors were vibrant and the paint was well-lacquered. She flipped over three of the cards onto the table. Between The Avalanche and The Cyclone sat The Hidden Truth. The art on the face of the cards lived up to his expectations. He started to reach out towards the cards without thinking, but she hastily flipped the cards back in and shut the lid. He looked up at her, slightly dazed and she looked back at him expectantly. "Will the deck suffice in making up the difference?" Strife gave her an affirmative nod. He wasn't overly concerned with the prospect of losing to her with the hand that he had and the deck seemed like a nice piece of craftsmanship.

As expected, he won the hand and in the process, the deck. She rose from her seat, saying, "That should do it. I'll leave you to your winnings." He smiled in acknowledgement and reached out towards the box. Again she put her hand on it, leaned in, and whispered, "Are you certain that you accept the deck?" Something about the way she asked made his neck hairs stand on end. The shuffling in his head seemed louder and he knew that he really wanted that deck. He nodded again, and she lifted her hand. "So be it. Good fortune, you'll need it soon." With those final words, the cards in his head stopped and a card was turned over. It was The Juggler. The woman turned and glided away. Completely creeped out, Strife felt like he jumped ten feet when someone put a hand on his shoulder in the next moment.

Turning, he saw an attractive older woman with tears welling up in her eyes. Tazel was Gershom's favorite and had been for many years. "It's time," she said simply. When he realized that he was dying, Gershom entreated Strife to bring him to Tazel for his final days. Out of respect for the old man and everything he had taught Strife about cards, Strife had done it. Gambling, fortune-telling, making cards to sell, it had all been in Gershom's repertoire. And he had passed it down to Strife. It was the most paternal thing that anyone had ever done for him and that mattered. Following Tazel, Strife went upstairs to her room. Inside, Gershom lay, seemingly asleep. But he opened his eyes when Strife sat down next to the bed and took his callused hand. Gershom motioned for Strife to lean in, and when Strife did, Gershom exhaled two words with his final breath. "Holver's Ferry."

Here is a link to Arialora Toralamae. I am still interested.

Cutting it a little close I know, but I've got the background and personality of my character finished up, and I honestly like the character quite a lot. His Background Skills (including the bonus background skills) are very essential to his character. May I introduce to you all Stelian Zaigan. Wandering adventurer and story-teller.

I'm gonna have to pull out, I'm going on holiday tomorrow and don't really have the time to pull this character together. Have fun, all of you.

Kickstarter Update: We've passed the $50,000 stretch goal, and James Jacobs himself will now be a contributor! The next stretch goal is the final installment of the adventure, To Kill A Star, a 19th-20th level adventure apparently designed to let you USE your capstones for once. XD As of writing this, there are 12 hours left in the campaign, and things are chugging along nicely.

Once the funding campaign is finished, I will make my selections. Shortly thereafter - by which I mean 'probably no more than a few days' - they'll be releasing the prologue and the player's guide. I will promptly provide access to said player's guide, and the chosen players will have the opportunity to rebuild at that time following the information contained within. I will allow several days for that, after which this game will begin with The Assimilation Strain.

Actually the timing is fun, but bad :)

I am interesting in the AP, and was on the edge of funding. But If I do, I want it all. If I have it all, I want to play. If I play it with a face-to-face group, I'll have faster progress than on pbp. In that case, I would also GM and pretty much know lots of things already.

While I consider myself quite capable of keeping player and character knowledge separate, it's simply more fun playing something that one does NOT know about, at all.

In retrospect, I think I would have preferred if recruitment had ended with the picks announced BEFORE the funding drive did, so that if not picked, I could have decided to fund and play it with my home group.

(no complaint at all, I guess I'll just pick it up regular later, but just wanted to mention it all the same...)

I suppose since Recruitment is basically closed and this is just last adjustments before picking, it's also customary to say "Good luck" to everybody in the runnings.

Recruitment is now closed.

The following characters have been selected, and can dot the gameplay thread and report to the discussion thread now:

Arialora Toralamae
Eliphas Diomedes
Maverick Silidar

Thank you all for your participation in this recruitment period - and for your interest in this 3PP AP. ^^ Players, I'll have some comments for you in the morning - and hopefully I'll have the Player's Guide/first adventure then, too. XD Everyone else, I'm bouncing ideas around for a different game since I've nearly wrapped up another I'm running, so if you like my style of running things, keep an eye on the Recruitment section!

How did the funding go? Counting Paypal backers, the campaign reached $56,000 - which gives us a gazetteer of the last world of the campaign. The only thing we DIDN'T get was the 12 pages of bonus material for the last adventure, but we ARE getting some bonus material on a certain civilization that you might just meet in the future. All in all, an excellent campaign! And one that now guarantees timely completion of every part...

Dark Archive

Dango. Grats to those who got accepted.

Well done to those selected. Have fun :)

Congratulations to those who got in:)
