I will continue controlling all NPCs for RP purposes. I would like one person per NPC. First come, first serve basis.

Jezabel |

I can control my big pal Grumblejack.

Gevra |

FYI, I noticed his gear list lacks some of the items Jezabel purchased for him. I added them. Its just some javelins, a backpack, and a waterskin.

Wraith Bonewalker |

I'll take over Balam... Or Tim... I could use either for my undead experiments mwhahahahaha
Geb pick the one your more comfortable with I'll handle the other

GM Phntm888 |

Okay, then the NPCs are sorted as follows:
Geborah - Timeon
Wraith - Balam
Jezabel - Grumblejack
As stated, this is for combat purposes only. I will continuing RPing them as needed. As far as leveling up, they will not level up at the same speed you do. How fast they level up will depend on how much you have them do as you execute your plans moving forward. Except for Grumblejack. He has a...special...form of advancement. Also, you may need to make a choice about whether he follows along with the next part of your mission after you deliver the weapons to Fire-Axe.
Since we've had a couple of long fights, does anyone need to be refreshed on what the mission is?

Jezabel |

Hey guys, I’m going to have a crazy busy weekend. It’s unlikely I’ll be able to post Saturday, and I definitely won’t be able to post Sunday. Sorry if I hold up the game. Feel free to bot me if needed.
Thanks!

Wraith Bonewalker |

So works been riding me this week... Plus I had a loss in the family so I'm gonna need a few days... I'll check back in after the weekend

Jezabel |

My condolences. Take your time, Wraith.

Wraith Bonewalker |

ok before I go completely offline .. I know a way for us to win... First set you get me a seal....second step I animate its bones... Third we sit back as it kills them and we reap the rewards...
Thanks everyone... talk to you soon

Tatienne Talbot |

My condolences, Wraith.

Jezabel |

Wow, a thousand apologies, guys. I have never intended to drop this game, as I thoroughly enjoy it (you guys are awesome!), but a recent work offer means I need to cut down on my gaming in order to take advantage of the opportunity. Unfortunately, that means I'm not going to be able to continue this campaign.
I've honestly had a blast playing with all of you, so thanks for having me while it lasted. Sorry for how short my run turned out to be.
All the best, everyone! And happy thanksgiving to those of you who are American.
(You're welcome to make Jezabel have a horrible encounter with an angry, woman eating shark while we're out seal hunting if it would make it easier on you guys for the purposes of botting. I know we're bogged down as it is.)

Wraith Bonewalker |

I'm with Geb... I really enjoy this character and would like to continue.

Tatienne Talbot |

Hi all, my sincere apologies for the absence. A combination of traveling for the holidays, sickness running through my family, and a second interview in San Diego this coming Wednesday (and the associated prep - academic interviews are one or two day marathons) has left me stressed for time.
I plan on being back in action on Thursday or Friday.
I'm sad to see you go, Jezebel, and have greatly enjoyed your contributions to this game.

GM Phntm888 |

No worries, I just wanted to make sure you were still interested in continuing. If not, I was going to end the game.
Since the three of you are still interested and want to play, we'll reorganize characters thusly:
Jezabel will move to NPC status - I will control her directly in combat, and out of combat she'll just be silent, like Balam is now. Tatienne, I'd like you to control Grumblejack in combat.
There will not be a good time to do a re-recruitment or introduce a new character until after you complete Book 1, so you'll have to function without for now. Once Book 1 is complete, we will revisit the question and see if we want to phase out Jezabel and Balam (if they are still alive - not a guarantee) to recruit others, or continue with only three players and a bunch of NPCs.

Tatienne Talbot |

OK, I can control Grumblejack!

Tatienne Talbot |

GM, will trading in the trident get us the narwhale horn?

Wraith Bonewalker |

I was thinking of trying to save all the mithral... we could just be evil and kill them all :}

Wraith Bonewalker |

I'm the voice of darkness and the magical support... I suggest things for us to do...and vote when necessary... I'll leave which option up to the others... unless its a split decision... But I'm sure the good captain would like the extra profit from all their materials *wink wink* *nudge nudge*

Tatienne Talbot |

Works for me!

GM Phntm888 |

I'm going to put this rules adjudication to a vote: Blindness and Flying.
As written, the Blinded condition requires a DC 10 Acrobatics check to move at greater than half speed. However, I suspect that's written assuming the Blinded creature is on the ground, where there might be things to trip over like roots, furniture, and people. Flight has none of those obstacles, therefore a case could be made that the half-speed requirement does not apply, especially since the creature cannot "fall prone" unless they fly into the ground.
So, here's the question: Do Blinded creatures that are flying need to make a DC 10 Acrobatics check to move faster than half speed, or can they move at full speed without the need for a check?
This vote is binding and goes both ways for the remainder of the campaign, so if it applies in this situation - as a benefit to Geborah's action - it will apply later, when it may be a hindrance to your actions.

Geborah the Laughing Pyre |

A blind flier might have trouble navigating in a straight line, and so make slower progress than usual. I'd rule that a blind flier must make a Fly (rather than Acrobatics) check if they want to travel faster than half speed, and that in addition to moving slowly they lose altitude if they fail the check--10 feet, perhaps more if the check is failed badly, and if they reach the ground they crash and are prone.

Tatienne Talbot |

I would think the directional sense (and the inability to avoid any hazards because of lack of directional sense) would be the big issue.
I'd think they can fly at greater than half speed with no problem, but could end up in a very different place than intended. A blind person on the ground can use objects to navigate around hazards (canes, other objects such as furniture, etc). I'm not sure that a flier would be able to do so without plummeting to the ground (or using magical fight, I suppose).

Wraith Bonewalker |

I'm of the opinion that a blind flier can easily lose their sense of direction and balance when they dont have visual references. A bat that cant use its echo location has been known to fly straight into the ground. So I agree to a fly check.

GM Phntm888 |

Okay, here's how I will rule it:
For a blind flier, they must make a DC 10 Fly check to move at full speed. If they do so, they must also roll a d10 to determine what direction they are flying in, using the rules for splash weapons with two extra directions (up and down).
I actually already did the second part of that for the Mephit, because I thought it would be funny if it flew into the deck of the boat.

Wraith Bonewalker |

Sorry threat should say "Prepare to lose not only your lives....etc"..

Tatienne Talbot |

I'm headed to Colombia for the holidays and will be back 1/3. I expect to have wifi, but posting may be spotty. Please bot as needed.

Wraith Bonewalker |

Merry Christmas all... Hope your holiday is filled with family, friends and delicious food

Tatienne Talbot |

Sounds good. Happy holidays!

Wraith Bonewalker |

Awesome Phntm, I liked that little side quest to get the bones....next question... do we get exp for killing a bugbear? :P

Wraith Bonewalker |

yes...but not as much fun to write about... its on the list but I doubt many stores carry it and would question someone who was asking around for it

Wraith Bonewalker |

i'll use it in combat?!?!?!?!? That should make it amusing...or if it doesn't work in combat I'll create that as a spell.
