A player that originally applied when I started the campaign has been following us and asked to join. I said that he could. If Col returns, we'll run the game with 5 people. If he doesn't, we'll have a new fourth.
Here is a link to his original application character, which is a Paladin. I also said he had to option to change his character if he wanted to.
Lucien Endrin
I told him to post here and we can discuss getting him set up and in the game with us.

Hey guys, here I am! I'm super excited to join your group, I've been enjoying your adventures since the beginning. It was the very beginning of my PbP career and it's nice to be able to join this group now that I've accumulated a bit more experience with PbP gaming.
First off, as GM said, I would like to get your opinion about my character. After all, I'm going to join a cemented group and I don't want to cause any disruption. Lucien is a paladin, but not a very strict one, so he can get along with pretty everyone as long as he/she's not irredeemably evil. He cares for his homecity very much, and will go to any lenght in order to protect it.
I would like to know if you're OK with me playing a paladin from both a roleplaying and a mechanical point of view. I can create another character if you think something else would fill the missing role better.
I'll wait for your answer before leveling up Lucien. In the meantime, I'm going to re-read his background and possibly improve it to better join the group.

I fully trust that the GM won't be forcing you into annoying morality traps, and none of us are particularly prone to solving problems in evil ways. As long as we're all reasonable people, it shouldn't be a problem.
Btw, much respect for translating Pathfinder into Italian.

I really like your character as is. His ties to the Church of Abadar and the Korvosan Guard as well as some of the noble families should play out well.
I see you updated the last bit of your backstory already too and it looks great.
The current combat encounter is winding down and if you are ready by then we can introduce your character at that time.
Lucien Endrin |
Currently working on Lucien. Updating and improving crunch before I join, mostly. He should be ready by tomorrow!
Nadya Dimineata |
I'll pop over there in just a minute for an update. Also to echo the others, I'm fine with a paladin both for RP and mechanically.
A Paladin of Abadar ought to fit just fine with our group. If you don't have it already, I'd be happy to post or send you the paladin code for Abadar. I especially think the bit about fighting against corruption in the courts seems rather appropriate for what we've seen so far.

Ok, so Lucien's crunch is ready. I'm ready to join as well as soon as the GM will tell me to do so.
@GM: I'd be glad if you could take a look at Lucien's updated sheet and tell me if everything's OK with it.
@Nadya: If you mean the one featured in Inner Sea Gods I've read it carefully when creating Lucien, and will re-read it now :D Thank you for the heads-up!
I'm going to dot in the Gameplay Thread and delete just to make this game appear in my Campaign Tab.

Perfect. Everything looks good on your character sheet. I love the formatting. I have no corrections to add.
We'll get you in right away. Hopefully the party will finish off the sole derro remaining quickly. I'd rather introduce you outside of combat.
In the meantime, your character can be arriving right around this time.
You've been following leads on your sister's rescuers from Gaedren Lamm. You've inquired about these so-called heroes for a few weeks now but they haven't made such a name for themselves yet that they are widely know. A contact in the Korvosan Guard points you in the direction of the Three Rings Tavern stating that he heard some new heroes were working for Cressida Croft and that she usually comps such peoples' board and meals over at the tavern. However, he hasn't personally met these people and can't give you a good description. At the tavern, the owner, Theandra Darklight, remains tight-lipped and refuses to confirm or deny the heroes you seek's presence only stating that she protects the privacy of those who stay under her roof. However, a patron of the tavern hears your story and approaches you with another rumor that he overheard a group talking about bringing some orphans rescued from Gaedren Lamm to the Grand Temple of Pharasma for shelter. When you arrive at the temple, a priestess there confirms that the group you are seeking was recently here but that the orphans in question have gone missing. The heroes have gone off to an area in the Potter's Ward of the Gray called the Dead Warrens to hopefully rescue the orphans again along with a few acolytes who have similarly been abducted. She mentions something about the group looking for the body of a Shoanti boy as well.
With directions provided by the priestess, it is easy to find the open mausoleum that the heroes have entered. The secret trap door remains ajar. A strange pseudodragon perches on a nearby unmarked grave and eyes you warily but does not speak. As you are preparing to enter, a few injured stirges fly harmlessly out of the opening and disperse into the afternoon sky. The party is too far into the underground complex to see their light spell or hear the sound of combat from the outside.
Feel free to post about your entrance into the Dead Warrens and I'll time it so that you catch up with the group at the end of the fight.

Thank you kindly GM!

What do you guys want to do with Col's character? Would you prefer he accompany you for the rest of this dungeon (I'll DMPC) and then leave at the end, or should I have him leave right away? Either way is fine by me. I'd rather not bot him but I'll need to come up with a reason for his exit then. I have some ideas though. Or if you have any ideas, I'm open to suggestions.
Lucien Endrin |
Lucien, you can also have Col's 3 harrow points. The uses are listed at the top of the page. This is the last location for all of you to use your points, so use them or lose them. You'll get new points at the start of chapter 2.
They'll come in handy, thanks!
Lucien Endrin |
So Lucien, how did you end up doing the Pathfinder translations?
Well, I'm Italian and have been working on several projects related to RPGs in my country, then I was lucky enough to be selected to work on Pathfinder! :D Improving my English in one of the reasons driving me to do PbP in fact!
Lucien Endrin |
GM, what does Lucien know about derros? They're humanoids, and the minumum DC to identify them is 12 I think, so Lucien cannot attempt an untrained Knowledge (local) check about them. My reaction to the derro is going to depend hugely on what Lucien knows, of course. He wouldn't outright attack a creature if he doesn't know anything about it, unless his companions do not provide the info he needs.
GM Peachbottom |
Well, derro aren't completely unknown in Korvosa, but without the proper knowledge (Knowledge [local] DC 13), you've only heard folk tales and gossip. Mostly that derro are insane creatures that live in the dark and emerge from underneath Korvosa to steal people away. Most people think they are children's stories to scare people at night, much like a bogeyman. You don't know if the stories are true or any of a derro's abilities. However, the rest of the party has learned much more about the derro from Bishop Keppira D'Bear and if they share, you can learn all the basic information from the Monster Manual.
