So sorry again everyone. I know its tough to wait on the GM. Meetings and "emergency" visits by robotic technicians have eaten up my day. I thought I had time this afternoon, but another meeting just got moved up.

So much for a full lunch too.

Still struggling a bit on how to give you the right clues without giving you the answer, but at the same time at least giving you something you can actually go off of.

I have no idea how I read over such an important detail so many times. I think it was because the first time I read it, I convinced myself how it worked and then tried thinking of how I was going to give you clues on how to do it, thinking you didn't have enough information yet.

I was hoping you would just try different things, but it appears I was overthinking it, after warning you all not to.

There is still a decent string of encounters, and if I pull this off it could feel pretty cool. I'll apologize in advance if it falls flat like the last cake I tried to make. :)

Sorry for going AWOL the last few days everyone. I had a bunch of stuff last weekend to keep me busy and on top of it all I came down with a 5-day stomach flu. No one could cover me at work so I had to work through it, and then I came home and was basically bedridden afterwards. Feeling much better now though.

I am still learning nuances and other things about this whole GM chair.

As I mentioned in the gameplay thread, I have some issues with how these encounters are set up. We can talk more details later, maybe its not as bad as I think it is, but I think its bad and lazy.

This encounter has the chance to be incredibly challenging, even though it is only listed as a CR1 encounter.

With that said, I am happy to retcon your potion choice based on teh information you have. This is one of the things I should have realized sooner and gave you better opportunity to react.

I hate hate hate "Gotcha" GMing. Thats what this encounter feels like already. Hopefully my annoyance doesn't spoil your fun, I'll still do my best to make it fun for you, but ... well... Issues. Again, we can talk more later. Maybe I am crazy, and you guys can show me the error of my ways. Or maybe you will confirm what I think.

Until then, I'll do my best not to ruin anything for you and make sure you are still having fun :)

No... You passed a will save to recognize that they are shadow illusions. As belkers, a cr 6 monster, they are currently in gaseous form, which gives them dr10/magic. The thing that supposedly makes this a cr 1 encounter is that they are shadow illusions and therefore only have 20% hit points. Because you recognize them as illusions, they only do 20% damage as well.

I personally think putting level 1 characters against creatures with such advanced defenses is a stupid and lazy way to create an encounter.

My apologies to everyone for the delays in this game.

It isn't moving very fast and that is really my fault for not updating it enough.

We are probably still another week or two away from finishing up, depening on how this and future combats go.

Because Glarifyur and Vorathan will be joining us for Gen Con, I really want to get through more scenarios, in an effort to get their characters to some decent levels for the content we hope to play. I know that is incumbent on me to help us get through the content leading up to Gen Con as well, so I will work to make sure we arent' slowing down like we have been.

Again, just want to apologize. I'll get better. :)

Ugh, now we need some creative thinking on how to beat creatures in gaseous form... Since no one has magic weapons (?) doing any damage past that DR 10/magic is unlikely. Energy damage should work, unless Belkers have some resistances. And I think oddly the gaseous form doesn't give any immunities to combat maneuvers, so they could be grappled and dirty tricked :P

So my Earth Blast is not energy, but I have a wand of magic missiles. Would that help?

Ok so I have a question that I guess I should have asked before my last atk, i thought this terra pain in the cotta soldier was a medium sized creature by the link Steve posted, that's why I moved as close as I did, but if he is taking up 4 squares, thus Bugdip's flanking atk, my last atk should have had a +2 to hit, not that it would make much difference as well as my extra 1d6 for sneak atk flanking damage. So does the size of the token mean it's large or is where it's feet are reflect its position?

Yes it is a large creature. Sorry if the artwork is leading to confusion...

The icon should be big enough to take up 4 squares, even with the weird 3d-ish thing going on.

And yes, you are correct, the flanking helps, but not quite enough... This time.

Thanks for playing, hope you had fun. I learned a few things I think about the "GM Curtain" and hopefully as I do this more I will get better at it.

I'm not sure how soon I want to kick off the next scenario, but I will keep all of you updated. This has nothing to do with any of you, and 100% to do with me making sure I am ready to commit to keeping up the tempo and pace that a good PbP game requires. I think that was my biggest issue with this game, not driving the pace consistently. That is all on me as a GM, not on you as players.

I know that Damien and Chris have both already expressed their desire to stop playing PFS, with Gen Con being their 'Swan Song' in a way for PFS all-together, so if and when there is another PbP in this series, I will make sure to let you all know (and give you the first right of refusal to participate) before I go looking for others to fill the table.

Please let me know when you have downloaded your chronicle sheet - I will look to deactivate this thread by the end of the weekend at the latest. Also, don't be afraid to post any wrap up. We can have a little more fun as Wulessa watches you ride off into the sunset.

Yea, it really seems to be going around. Wash your hands, drink lots of fluids, spend more time with your friends and family. It will clear up in no time. I'm pretty sure it's not a virus, but I think you just have to ride it out until it passes...
