I agree, versatile weapon will be pretty nifty in a pinch, and will cover a number of DR issues, and 8th level doesn't seem too terribly late to get it. I'm not sure I'd want to spend a feat to get the iron weapon revelation, since it seemed like it would lag pretty considerably behind what we would get otherwise. Plus, 11th level is still a good ways away (Book 4, maybe?).

6 days of work from Zeltyieli for 6 goods (60 gp) then. Thanks Zeltyieli!

Current academy status:
18 / 121 goods
16 / 17 influence

4 / 5 magic

Very nice progress, well done everyone!

I'd try to get you more useful skills, but at 2/level and trying to qualify for Mystery Cultist, I'm a mite tapped. At level 8 I can start making money doing Harrow readings for you? ;)

Since nobody else has really addressed this question, I'm just going to hand out some stuff.

Jordan - bag of holding (type I), potion of cure moderate wounds, scroll of water breathing (2)
Hralyk - potion of invisibility
Ramenhotep - potion of invisibility, potion of cure moderate wounds
Zeltyieli -
Telka - potion of gaseous form

I figure Jordan's low strength and abundance of paper items make him the likely candidate for the bag.

@Zeltyieli: I appear to have forgotten to mention it in my character creation rules, but one of my main house rules is that base classes with 2+Int mod skill points per level that aren't Int-based (so Cleric, Fighter, Sorcerer, etc.) get 4+Int modifier skill points per level. Feel free to allocate those extra 10 points now. I have no idea why I haven't mentioned it in the recruitment post, since it's the first and foremost house rules that I've implemented for my home games.

Snazzy. I'm on it.

With the skill bumps, put 'Tyeli can get to 20 by taking 10 on heal, to get influence or magic -- which, to be fair Ramenhotep has got mostly handled (I also only did 6 days work, taking one day to run and commune to make 7) -- but note that Ramenhotep seems to be down for 14 days? Doing double duty?

I have enough ranks in Knowledge Planes to take Celestial Obedience - which would give me a +4 to all saves that try to impede my movement -- but since I don't qualify for Mystery Cultist until after level 7 (and I'll make it 8 to get Harrowing and domain powers), I'll stick with Combat Casting for now. [Seems kind of weird you need Kn(Planes) to take the feat, but Kn(Religion) to qualify for the class... ]

By the way I wanted to let you know that I won't be able to post for a few days, because I haven't finished re-reading the next bit and that the next two weeks are going to be hectic work-wise. Stay tuned!

Oh, I forgot to respond:

@Zeltyieli: I was basing Ramenhotep's two weeks of work off of this:

GM Lithrac wrote:
Two weeks have passed. Before you leave Heidmarch manor for your next destination, Sheila summons you in her office.

I took from that that we had a two week hiatus where Ramenhotep could have worked on his academy. Maybe I was mistaken on that and the GM can correct me but I don't think it's super critical whether we took one week off or two for the purposes of the story.

Got a question: for the characters that have the Chronicle sheets for this module, can we avoid the penalties associated with the shards by purchasing/socketing the appropriate ioun stones? There's no mention of that on the Chronicle sheet.

Grand Lodge

No, you can't avoid those penalties for your PFS character. You're always free not to use any shard, though.

I'm really sorry, but I'm far from ready. The exam session finishes next week, and I still haven't had a chance to start reading (much less actually preparing) the next part. We'll have to wait a bit longer until we resume.

Grand Lodge

Hey everyone,

As you may have guessed, I've been postponing the prep work for Shattered Star a good deal over the past weeks. While it's true that June was a hard month as far as work is concerned, I've felt utterly no urge to resume the campaign once that workload was done with. The truth is that I've been struggling with the idea of putting an end to the campaign for quite a long time, since the moment I've decided to stop taking part in a great deal of my ongoing campaigns as a player. I do not have the same amount of time to play PbP, but I also feel very much burnt out by most of it. This, as you realize, leads me to impart you with my decision to stop GMing the Shattered Star campaign. One of you has expressed the wish to bow out, which has given me a clear signal (and probably the bit of courage that I've been lacking) that it is the better thing to do.

I'd like to thank all of you for the time you've put into your characters, the quality posting, the roleplaying that I've enjoyed greatly over the course of this year we've played together. I'm really sorry to put an end to the campaign, but I currently lack the will and energy to go on.

Kind regards,

GM Lithrac

I'm sorry to hear that, Lithrac, but totally understand burn-out.

Yes, thank you for getting us this far, GM! I very much enjoyed the game and getting to play Ramenhotep for a while at least. Rest assured I will keep playing him in some form or another, perhaps as a PFS character.

And just to take some weight off the GM's shoulders and to let everyone else know, I was the one who approached Lithrac about bowing out of the campaign earlier this week. The reasons were twofold really, in that I just have too many long-term PbP campaigns going on at the moment and needed to drop a couple (and this one hadn't moved in some time) and also that I have GM'd it before and while I have been pleasantly surprised at how much I have enjoyed GMing it, it is not my absolute favorite AP (that honor probably goes to Reign of Winter) and so playing it while knowing all the secrets is nearly as much fun as it could be.

But thank you all for putting in the effort through book 1 and for putting up with the crotchety old man in the group!

Telka will sing the dirge of PbP death. It's refrains will echo throughout the fora.

She was getting tired of dungeons and diseases though.

Well, I can't say I'm not disappointed, but I understand. Thanks for running what you did, and letting me get a feel for what Hralyk could have been, given time.

Can you link me any applicable chronicle sheets?
