Effie Gee |
It'll be extra funny if/when Effie fails a save against some horrible Compulsion effect. Especially if she's gone paladin by then :o
Zithembe of the Six Paths |
I considered asking you if I could "PvP" you to demonstrate the point during our original discussion on culpability under compulsion using Zithembe's suggestion power. ;)
On an unrelated note, I'm considering using one of my rebuilds at my next level-up (4th) to reorder my classes that I plan to multiclass after the experience in Heaven to give me more "meat" (and trade out a feat that I'm disappointed with without going through the retraining costs). If I did, I'd lose my spirit wrangle (the debuff curing ability) until 5th.
On a slightly related note to the above, taking Slow Track on this will give me 8 XP when we finish this scenario. What will everyone else's XP totals be at the end of this scenario?
Effie Gee |
Effie will have 6xp after this scenario and will level up in Bard for proper combat juggling.
Zith you mentioned a plan for Inspire Courage at some stage? My planned build is looking like gunslinger 1 - paladin 2 - monk 1 - bard 7. I'm trying to focus more on the shooty stuff :) I'm not completely settled on the class order yet, but it's likely I'll take the non-bard levels sooner rather than later.
Maria Kuerlara |
Maria will be at 7 XP.
Zithembe of the Six Paths |
At the time, I was considering the Paladin archetype "Martyr" following the experience in Heaven. However, since inspire courage doesn't stack, I'm opting to go with vanilla Paladin and gain some juicy save bonuses.
I also found Tsukiyo and his role with spirits and madness to be a more fitting deity to encounter in Heaven than Vildeis.
EDIT: So much more slow track to go... I need money! ;)
EDIT EDIT: Note to myself (and for anyone to double check my math)... If Effie has 6 at the end of this and I have 8... two more at slow track is 8 vs. 9... so four more at slow track beyond this current scenario, I think.
Effie Gee |
I can probably throw one or two more gm xp on Effie as we go along.
Martyr gives up a lot I think. Effie's not likely to hit +2 on Inspire Courage till around level 9.
Zithembe of the Six Paths |
I was only planning on 2 levels of paladin, anyhow.
Effie Gee |
Likewise ;)
Probably going with divine hunter.
Maria Kuerlara |
You may not need to toss GM xp on her. I believe you have now caught up with everyone except Maria and Zithembe.

This is a bit hilarious. I love that this group is constantly finding things to disagree about in the game scenarios (that probably aren't covered at all as a point of consideration by the scenario) and we just use it to expand our RP wonderfully.
I definitely enjoy this as well. You guys are also an interesting (in a good way) contrast to my League table where the party seems to have fewer philosophical disagreements with each other. The alignment breakdowns are also amusing because this table skews Lawful and the League table skews Chaotic.
The things that both tables have in common are players willing to get into their roleplay and characters that much prefer to solve problems with words instead violence if at all possible.
Both tables also share a knack for zeroing in on little details that the scenario leaves vague or completely unstated/unresolved and so I've gotten better at trying to spot those ahead of time and plan accordingly ;)
Hepsubia Althein |
Hep next class will be bard too. And after that, maybe Brawler. And after that, who knows?
She will have 6 XP at the end of that adventure.
Looking for a replacement GM for a CoCT here
GM to the rescue
Rumble Craterkin |
...Well Rumble is going to be a single class Warpriest. So... there?
Collectively, our saving throws are going to be through the roof! That's exciting for me as a player, tbh.
GM Ladile |
By the way, for those keeping up with PF2 sanctioning, we got this blog post a few days back - go check it out!
GM Ladile |
If anyone here is interested in giving PbP GMing a try then Redelia is looking to run another GM school for anyone that's interested :)
(Note that the initial sign-up is for students; I expect the call for mentors will go out once we see how many students we end up with.)

Enough time with my feelings, time to get back to something real.
THAT'S THE DWARF I KNOW! FEELINGS ARE AN ILLUSION FOR THE WEAK! :D

Hey guys, all is well, I've just been catching up on sleep the last day or two.
(It snowed!)
Aiming to hopefully get a post up later this afternoon/evening before work :)

I'm starting to suspect Ladile is a dissociative identity of mine...
It's spooky how similar our shifts are sometimes. Weather can be explained.
But if Ladile changes to all days moving forward in a few months like me, be very suspicious! ;)
GM Ladile |
Noooooo, no day shift for me! Even though I'm sure it'll probably ultimately take a few years off my life I've grown to prefer my night shifts. But I also have no children to worry about and I still get enough 'days' off during the week that I can get daylight-hours business taken care of when the need arises. Not everyone is that fortunate.
GM Ladile |
For folks who might not have seen it yet, the official announcement for OutPost III is up! Go check it out!
The scenarios we're allowing GMs to pick from for PF1 are more limited in scope than usual in order to fit with the general theme but there are still basically all of the PF1 quests and modules to select from, as well as all of Season 10.
I believe that SFS and PF2 are wide open in terms of what GMs can select from to run.
I'll be running something but I'm as-yet-undecided on what.
I also have official word that pre-mustered or even mostly pre-mustered groups for OutPost are a no-go. So be quick on the draw when player sign-ups open if there's a specific table you want to play at.
Effie Gee |
^^I've signed up to GM. I will be offering #8-14 To Seal the Shadow. Party with the wayangs!
I played this scenario back in season 8. I think it should work well in PbP, where the intrigue element can be roleplayed at greater leisure.
GM Ladile |
^Yep, I'll probably pick something I've already played since that makes it a little easier in terms of prepping. Luckily there are several of those on the list of PF1 material, albeit most of them are Tier 1-5s.
I'll probably keep my plate as a player pretty light and just play in the Siege of Gallowspire special.
Zithembe of the Six Paths |
8-14 is great--to play and GM.
I'd ask for PFS(2) 1-13 because that's like whole point of my -2001 and I want to play under a good GM, but I'm not sure my -2001 will finish with Tarnbreaker's trail in time. The GM is new. :)
Zithembe of the Six Paths |
Gallowspire vent: I prepped at midtier. My table didn't get any specific tickets but they sent me a bunch of generics to me... who all wanted pregens. There are no pregens at that level. I had to run lowest tier cold. Then they all picked Advanced classes that they had never played before (like gunslinger). They all survived because we couldn't finish round two of any encounter before mandatory push.
Effie Gee |
Ouch :O
I've played Gallowspire already (PaizoCon UK last year) and won't be looking to repeat it. Not that there's anything wrong with it - just not something I want to spend a replay on.
I'll be on the lookout for a nice tier 7-11 to play my hunter/barbarian in. He needs to catch up to his two buddies who are almost to lvl 12 already. We want to do Eyes of the Ten together later.
Rumble Craterkin |
tbh I'd love to play the specials not on a time limit. Several are really cool, but many of my experiences come down to "time's up!" and that really bums me out (as a player and GM). It'd be one thing if the table was slow, but in my experience it is always one or two insufferably slow people who won't (not can't, but won't) get their stuff together to speed up their play. So frustrating.
Eyes of the Ten was fantastic! :D We also had a GM who really hammed it up to, his prep/props put a really great touch on the whole thing. We had also all been gaming together with those characters for a couple scenarios so the NPC's were able to respond appropriately (when it made sense for this to happen). Have fun when it happens!
GM Ladile |
Heh, I do plan to eventually start GMing some PF2 but I think I'd actually prefer to do that outside of convention constraints (to start with) so that I've got more control over who ends up at my table.
For Gallowspire...even though my -01 is an 8th level cleric (and my highest level character) I'll probably play Corona since I've kinda got a history of playing her for specials anyway.
Agree on the specials and time limits; sometimes you get lucky and get a group and GM that can keep up with the pacing but other times not so much. As a GM I just can't really keep up with the pace that Specials require and that's not fun for me or anyone else.
But there are still a lot of fun options available for me to GM for OutPost. Season 10 alone has some great options but there are some good ones in the earlier seasons too.
Parison Drakemoor |
I really enjoy playing the specials, including the multi-table ones. I know with Gallowspire, my bard seemed to be the danger magnet, even if he wasn't doing any or minimal damage to the monsters. (What did I do to upset the GM? I don't know.) With the exception of Through Malestrom Rift, I try to make sure that my bard gets all of the special event chronicles.
The only specials I haven't played, multi-table or otherwise are Blood Under Absalom, Siege of the Diamond City, The Paths We Choose, Legacy of the Stonelords, Siege of Serpents, Serpent's Rise, The Sky Key Solution, Serpent's Ire, The Cosmic Captive, Assault on Absalom and Solstice Scar D.
As far as 2E goes, I really want to run an AP F2F, but I don't have an established home group right now. But I'm really loving 2E and I'm trying to jump in with both feet in terms of embracing it. I missed out when AD&D went from 2nd to 3rd Edition and did it when it went from 3.5 to 4th only to realize along with my home group then how bad it was, so when 2E was announced, it was either not go with it and miss out if it's really good, or go with it on the chance that it will not be as good as 1E. I went with the latter.
Zithembe of the Six Paths |
Assault on Absalom is the best MTS.
GM Ladile |
Assault on Absalom is the best MTS.
Yep! Though I enjoyed Hao Jin Cataclysm quite a bit as well.
Maria Kuerlara |
I'll likely GM a PFS2 game and play in the SFS special. If they open up play to join both specials later I'll probably jump into the PFS1 one if I have a good fit for it.
Specials are so hit and miss though. Some tables tear through content, some tables just drag. I've had more that were good than bad but I've had a couple that never finished anything before a push.
I can't keep up with the stress of GM'ing them though so I can't really complain.
Rumble Craterkin |
HA! That's great, had no idea Zurnzal was in this scenario! For spoiler's sake, I've nothing else to say.
Effie Gee |
I'll not contribute to the decision the party has to make now, because I am replaying this scenario ;)
But Effie will tell you what she thinks or knows (or thinks she knows) about Torch if asked.
Maria Kuerlara |
On a personal note, I have played Zurnzal in a special scenario. When I saw the name and image I had an internal clap of glee and then an immediate setting of dread knowing that I know WAY TO MUCH about him as a player. But I think I'll be able to keep player and character knowledge separate.
It helps to consider that I have no clue where in his life Zurnzal is now and where he was when I played him. He AND Torch could have any number of different motivations in this scenario compared to other scenarios.
GM Ladile |
It's admittedly a little awkward when recurring NPCs pop up and I've got little to no context for their previous appearance or how any random group of Pathfinders might react to them. So if it ever seems like you know more than your GM...that might very well be the case! Patience is appreciated :)
Rumble Craterkin |
Unless someone wants us to go it without aid, Rumble is ready to accept the deal and will swear an oath to Torag to honor it!
Maria Kuerlara |
I don't have an issue with the oath. Zith has already explained what we actually can promise, which isn't much. But I don't speak for everyone.

Happy Valentine's Day, friends! In honor of the occasion (and because I have it on good authority that I am a huge goober), here are some (internet-sourced) poems for you:
Roses are red,
Bacon is red,
Poems are hard,
Bacon.
Bacon sounds fantastic at nearly 1 in the morning. Yum.
Violets are blue,
Roses are red,
Hey hey hey,
Stay out of my shed.
Or else. *revs up the chainsaw*
Love is in the air
But so is influenza
Wash your filthy hands.
No, seriously, wash your hands. This is one time that sharing really isn't caring.
GM Ladile |
Since we're getting closer to the end of the scenario I wanted to go ahead and start doing some prep work now for our next one. My original list has us doing #9-10 Signs in Senghor which has a mixture of outdoor and city settings but is one that Effie's player would have to spend a replay on if we wanted to do it.
Do we want to stick with that one (assuming it's one Effie doesn't mind spending a replay on) or shall I try to select a different one? If need be, I can post the proposed scenario list again if people need a refresher or want to see if we can tweak some things.
*edit* I can also compile a list of 'we can do this if 1-2 people don't mind spending a replay' scenarios but it'll take me a little time to do so.
GM Ladile |
Another busy evening at work so update forthcoming later after I've caught up on my sleep~
Effie Gee |
Signs In Senghor is pretty good, so I don't mind spending a replay. I'd like to see the proposed list as well though.
Hepsubia Althein |
Lady L (or anyone else!): could you please give me again the name of the site where we are supposed to compil evry PFS adventures we had with all our characters?
I have a new comp, but couldnt save all my links

Checking to see if you all agree with this. A "Ray" (ray of frost for example) gains a bonus to hit from things like inspire courage and a bonus to damage because it is considered a weapon. A "Ranged Touch Spell that does Damage" like acid splash gains a bonus to hit from things like inspire courage but does not gain a bonus to damage because it is not considered a weapon.
Effie Gee |
Agree. For a further example, you can take "weapon focus: ray" but not "weapon focus: ranged touch". Inspire courage applies bonuses to "attack and weapon damage rolls".
Rumble Craterkin |
I'd say it counts on anything that uses an attack roll and deals damage. However, I will concede that ranged touch attacks are an obnoxious grey area that the rules don't play nice with. IMO, they should all count as rays, but that's not necessarily what the rules say.
