I am kinda confused, wasn't the plan to go see the waitress in the morning or did I get all this completely wrong?
I had thought so (which is why I parked y'all outside of the inn in Gundrun) but then it seemed like folks were raring to go to Nerosyan (since no one went inside of the inn or formulated a plan to address the waitress) so I moved you guys on haha
You'll be back in Gundrun someday :P
Valaria Alazario |
She's probably just a spy. They're all over the place anyway. We probably should have done something, but it's not the end of the world if she's around a little while longer.
Ehren Ferron |
As far as shopping goes, since we're basically in Magical Mega Mart...
Is there anything on our wishlist? That we can or should sell?
Ary Bishop |
Heh. That's kind of odd. From my perspective, we just got back to Gundrun and were planning how to deal with the Hag while Ehren did his flirting, and summoner girl did her god-summoning.
To me, it went 'you're back in town, what do you do?' *Ary mostly watches the scene that doesn't offer much for Ary, but provides comic relief all the same.*
Suddenly, Nerosyan!
Not that I, as the player, am altogether concerned about the doomy doom person. It's not something we really can deal with, compounded with the other Dooms.

Flirting? Whaaaaat. Ehren doesn't know how to flirt. Is it possible for him to talk to a girl without the rest of the party assuming that he is putting on moves? :p
Ary Bishop |
Here are the things that Ary is very much for getting: Spring Loaded Sheaths for the casters, along with weapon cords. The most common wands should be in easy reach, and not get in the way when you don't need them. Dangly sticks are better than dropped sticks.
We also definitely need to deal with our prisoners first thing. Tell them what's going on and the like. Make sure they get their stuff back if they're cleared (and make sure they're observed by someone that they can't spot as easily in case they try to magic the inquisitor).
We could have forcefed them the Truth Elixir a long time ago, but it'd be sort of rude to spend someone's potion checking to see if they're telling the truth. :P
If we really want to drop a lot of money, we can get a Blinkback Belt for Valaria and greatly improve her ability to make things hurt. I'm not sure of what we could get for everyone else to make them more effective. I don't suppose there are any singing scabbards in town..?
Ary Bishop |
Is it possible for him to talk to a girl without the rest of the party assuming that he is putting on moves? :p
No.
If Ehren bothers to talk to anyone outside of the group, it is because he has special interest in doing so. :)
Valaria Alazario |
Val would very much like a Blinkback Belt, though I'm not sure we can afford to spend that much right now. Depends on how much other stuff takes priority
And Ehren, Val is in your party. You will never be able to look at a girl without being teased about it. Val still doesn't have a match for you after all.
Markus Coffinborn |
Ary's right about Ehren - he doesn't talk to people often enough for it to not be notable when he does.
As for money-spending... Markus doesn't really need anything. I never know what to buy on casters except the Big Six anyway. And scrolls, which are more of a party-fund thing that Markus happens to be able to use.
Maybe if we can afford a ring of spell knowledge or something... but Markus doesn't really have requests.
He's got his wands. He's got a nice quarterstaff.
Oooh, actually! Depending on the costs for magic weapons under ABP, I might want to request something for Annabelle - an evil outsider bane cold iron glaive. Under normal rules it would be something like 4,350, or 10,350 if it needed the +1 first... And it would buff Annabelle's damage against demons by a ton.
Oh, also a mwk breastplate - costing 350gp - for Annabelle.
A ring of sustenance... just so that I can stay up all night with Annabelle?

That's... a fair point. But I blame Ehren's gradually rising Charisma score! Soon, he won't even have a negative modifier! Clearly, the Inheritor wants him to get laid become a great leader to his people.
I kind of want some druid vestments. Just one more timely wild shape would have saved Ehren's bacon against Caggrigar, and might have given us a chance to take him out. At the same time, he's not getting Natural Spell until level 9, so he's probably better off waiting.
Still debating on picking up Craft Wondrous Item. Swarmbane clasps for everyone! :P
Isilme |
Apart from picking stuff up for the party, I'd like to suggest the following:
2 scrolls of see invis, a scroll of blink, a scroll of non-detection, a scroll of borrow skill. With these we can kill the hag quite efficiently, no expert needed! ;)
Just need to invis, see invis, non-detection, blink, then borrow skill to get sleight of hand from val, at which point Isilme can auto-succeed on pick pocket to remove the heartstone from the hag, which she depends upon to be ethereal.
Apart from that, we should buy a bag of holding. I know we have tons of carrying capacity, but no reason not to make lives easier on us. Also I'd like to get Isilme a darkwood or mithril buckler, as well as a darkwood bow so she can have a ranged weapon and not be overweight. I'll need to look through gear lists to see what else she'll want in the future.
I wanted to get a wand of fly, but geez 3rd level wands are expensive. We still might want to replace the two scrolls we've used.
Ary Bishop |
Regardless of how the pricing works, Demon Bane would go better on Val - Annabelle won't be getting an iterative attack for at least two levels, meaning Val will get a little less than twice the effect in the meantime. If Annabelle doesn't have a cold iron Glaive... Ary'd be swatting her on the nose and wondering why she hadn't, herself, noticed that. MWK Breastplate is also an easy investment.
I also second the Swarmbane Clasp. It's a significant investment in people not dying. I'm not even really worried about who gets it.
As for dealing with the problems, I'll leave it to you twiddlyfingers. But also, Isilme, you're assuming she isn't holding whatever the thing is that you say you can steal. :)
Valaria Alazario |
If we're going hag hunting, we really should get a dose of Holy Weapon Balm for each person. I forgot it existed, but it's awesome.
I would most certainly make good use of a Swarmbane Clasp. I'd also love to get holy and maybe flamboyant on my starknives at some point, but that can wait for now.
Ary Bishop |
Oh wow. I'd never even seen Holy Weapon Balm. As my fledgling investigator will have ranks in Alchemy next level... she'll only be a point short of being able to make those reliably! :)
Valaria Alazario |
I was looking through Advance Class and found it while I was paging through the magic items for fun swashbuckler toys.
Ary Bishop |
And Ghost Touch is also valuable on other incorporeal things. :3
Isilme |
What? Other incorporeal things? That's insane! I'm pretty sure we'll only face maddened ex-crusader clerics who have died with their life's work unfinished in the future. To plan for anything else is just silly! Next you'll be saying there are all sorts of different kinds of demons that we should know about!
Ary Bishop |
Hey. Be sarcastic all you want. But I thought of it first! ;)

Grats to all of you. Also, SPOILERS KIORALADY.
Hinagiku |
I think Hinagiku is fine. The only thing that would be really useful is a potion of flight. Unless you would rather all have a few scrolls instead.
Markus Coffinborn |
Scrolls are half as expensive, and I'm happy using my own actions to buff Hinagiku rather than having to spend twice the money and allow her to use her actions.
So we want Isilme's purchases:
2 scrolls of see invisibility
1 scroll of nondetection
1 scroll of blink
1 scroll of borrow skill
For Annabelle:
One masterwork breastplate
One cold iron glaive
For Markus (to carry):
Two scrolls of fly
Optional (if we can afford):
bag of holding type I (for Ary)
evil outsider bane cold iron starknife (for Valaria)
druid's vestments (for Ehren)
ring of spell knowledge II (for Markus)
To sell (from Ary):
pauldrons of the bull
potion of bull's strength
potion of invisibility
oil of slipstream
Gems!
From Markus:
2 hybridization funnels
From Annabelle:
mwk chain shirt
mundane glaive
Ehren Ferron |
Should probably sell the potion of shield of faith as well. +4 AC is nice, but I'd feel guilty chugging a 600 gp potion for 12 minutes of glory.
Ary Bishop |
Is Shield of Faith what Hosilla's potion is? I'd agree. When she unstoppered it, it smelled like beef. :|
Ehren Ferron |
Nah, it was the one on Ghalcor's body. Hosilla's potion has been unidentified this whole time, but if that's what it actually smelled like, I can't blame everyone for forgetting. :|
*sniff* "Yeah, I'm not drinking that."
Ary Bishop |
It was a joke based on who the 'shield of faith' came from. :)
Ary would like a spring loaded sheath for everyone who doesn't have and can use one. Likewise, weapon cords for each person. Swift action to retrieve a wand that's still in your reach if you drop it. She'll get one for Radiance as well, though she'll have to take the time of actually attaching it to her wrist when she draws it.
Be kind of neat to wield a klar version of Radiance made out of a Babau skull. :)
So: Ehren, Isilme, Ary, Hinagiku, Markus: Weapon Cord. 1 sp each. - weight. Might as well get extras in case they do get sliced off in combat.
Everyone but Ary from above: Spring loaded wrist sheath. Pair for val if she wants them. 1# each, 5 gp each.
Annabelle: mwk breastplate and cold iron glaive. 350 or 550 for agile + 316 (double cost for base, then master worked)
Tons of scrolls and potions. - do your own maff.

Retrieving a weapon cord dropped item is a move action per a rules revision
Ehren Ferron |
To be completely honest... I'd rather not have a weapon cord.
Never been a fan of them. They're handy, but they've always struck me as being silly. Kind of like the straps they packaged with the Wiimotes since someone managed to throw one through their television.
Plus weapon cords were actually errata'd to require a move action, probably to prevent the weapon swapping cheese that used to go on.
I love spring-loaded sheaths, but I feel like there's a flavor malfunction with sticking a clockwork device on a druid. I know, I know. :P
GM Kiora |
I won't forbid them. But if you can rationalize out why its logistically silly to go around with weapons/wands dangling from cords on your wrists, then you can predict how enemies will respond to that, and the sorts of circumstance penalties from various actions I'll be deducting as a result. ;)
Ary Bishop |

I wasn't referring to the weapon cord (which is there to (sort of) protect from disarms, and allow a dropped item to move with you as you go). The swift action to retrieve is referring to the time associated to retrieve a wand in a normal situation (from belt, bag, bandolier), which is instead popped into your hand as a swift action by a spring loaded wrist sheath. I feel like the weapon cord swift action thing came up already. As it's harder to pull a weapon into hand by a cord, than it is to draw it, I completely agree with the logic. :)
The idea is that they're not out in the open the majority of the time... But also aren't dropped into gaping chasms as you grab hold of the edge, or what not. In addition, weapon cords don't do anything for wielding more weapons. That's actually the only thing stopping me from absolutely wanting one for Ary - It will take longer to ready her sword (unless she skips it...) And to ready her bow.
Ultimately, I feel like a weapon cord is strictly an advantage over an item being in your belt (which can be stolen, sundered, etc) with the caveat that your hand won't always be as ready to use.
Other than spending actions to steal stuff rather than actions to pick up dropped items or hit us in the face, or us spending actions to stow them... I'm not sure what the ramifications are. :)
TL;DR: Graukr made Ary scared of irreplaceable/valuable things being stolen.
Valaria Alazario |
Considering I have Quick Draw already, I don't believe I need the sheaths.
Ehren Ferron |
There's always the locked gauntlet, though the extra actions needed to secure it are probably a no-no. :P
Speaking of handy, a handy haversack might be useful. The ability to retrieve anything in the pouches as a move action without rummaging through the bag is pretty useful. The bag's pretty cheap. Limited storage space, though.
Part of the reason I'm looking forward to Mythic Natural Spell is that Ehren will be able to use any scroll, staff, wand, or whatever that he has on him without using any additional actions to juggle between items. :O
Ary Bishop |
The only reason I'd consider the spring sheathes for Val is because of the bonus to concealment, combined with drawing a weapon from concealment as a swift action. (Much faster than the normal way of drawing a hidden weapon!)
Mythic Natural Spell makes Ehren into a Handy Haversack!
Markus Coffinborn |
Okay, how about this:
Ary gets a weapon cord and a wrist sheath.
Valaria gets a sheath.
Markus gets a sheath.
Hinagiku gets nothing. She needs nothing!
Ehren gets nothing. He probably won't really use them.
Isilme... hasn't yet chimed in, but she also doesn't use wands very often, and doesn't have a weapon that's particularly worth protecting.
Ary Bishop |
Ary doesn't want a wrist sheathe... Unless it can hold a vial of holy water. Which sounds ridiculous. :p
As for Isilme, she can always weapon cord her bladeless hilt. :)
Ary Bishop |

Oooh. We can get Rocky one to launch rocks into his hands!
Also... heading out! Tabletop Night! :o
Isilme |
Yeah I don't think we'll ever be in a situation where I need to swift action a wand that I won't be able to move action the wand to use it instead. I mean I guess it'll be a little handy for the haste wand starting 7th, 'cause I could use the wand and start a performance in round 1, but I'll also likely pick up haste as a spell, which means I can just haste and start performance on round 1 anyway :)
As far as the rapier goes, I fight so rarely that it's not really necessary to have a weapon cord, and Markus is right, it's just a cold iron rapier :)
Maybe I'll reconsider if Isilme's hilt becomes something more than just a hilt, although I can't imagine why that might happen ;)
Have fun at tabletop night! It's movie night for me! Gonna watch Run Lola Run :o

So... the cliffnotes from 'last' game of Giantslayer for a while - I'm a gnome aerokineticist. I am amazing (as always). Kineticist does insane damage rather safely. I fully approve (sniper gnome!)
My character was responsible for the deaths of 2/3 of the enemies... soloing the first giant you encounter (Kind of. The other player got hit in the face 3 times, and the other two characters watched, because he charged forward into the water instead of making the thing come to us. Ugh.)
My gnome was fired out of a catapult. And lived.
The last boss was mean and apparently immune to me.
Attacking from darkness into a circle of light from 60 feet away is rude. Even without the DM treating them as flatfooted (since they literally couldn't see me), them just not being able to really do much about it was a little evil on my part.
Now... level 5! Can freely blast from super far without giving away my position! Huzzah! The crowd goes wild!
(Now imagine, all of this said in a super cute (friends call it annoying) squeaky voice.)
Edit: Also, they finally asked my character's name. Anemone!
Ary Bishop |
Nope! This Anemone :)
