I'll wait for both you and Shirzon to have posted before moving things along.

Council of Thieves Maps

And while we wait...

This is the description of the scales Kassen's spirit gave you, along with its magical properties.
▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁
Kassen’s Boon
▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔
Aura moderate abjuration; CL 10th
Slot amulet; Price —; Weight
This small silver scale is warm to the touch and inscribed with the sigil of Kassen, hero of the Fangwood. You can use this scale to call upon Kassen’s favor, allowing you to reroll any one attack roll, saving throw, or skill check after the roll is made but before the results are revealed. You must take the result of the second roll, even if it is worse. Once this power has been used, the scale crumbles to dust.

Council of Thieves Maps

I would also like you to spend a little time working on your character's sheet. Please add all of the items from the loot you have claimed for your PC in his/her sheet, so we can clear the tracking sheet a bit, leaving there only those items you want to sell or you won't use personally.

Council of Thieves Maps

Finally, I've got some boons for you. When you'll level up to level 3, I'm going to give you a free trait drawn from Cheliax, Empire of Devils. If you do not own that handbook, please check this link to see all of the traits presented therein.

Excluding regional traits, which surely doesn't fit our campaign at least someone wants to expand his PC's background and detail a travel in Cheliax his character has done, there are some traits there that I can see fitting your PCs. For example:

If you'd rather select one of the traditional traits, you can always turn to the Pathfinder Character Traits Web Enhancement document that you can access as a free download here on the Paizo website. All of the traits presented therein are legal for our campaign, with the usual restriction that you cannot select more than one trait from each category (ie. combat, social, fait, magic, etc.).

---

I will allow you to select up to two character traits, drawn either from the Pathfinder Character Traits Web Enhancement document or the Cheliax, Empire of Devils handbook.

---

Also, there is another handbook you can draw your player's options from, Seekers of Secrets; if you do not own this handbook, please see this link. Now, this handbook is thematically very fitting since you're going to work for the Pathfinder Society soon, and it will make sense if you select one of the many player's option featured in that handbook. There will be someone, in Kassen, who can provide you with some of the items featured in that handbook, so it may be a good thing if you can take a look at the handbook to see if there's something appealing to you. For example, the Friendly Switch feat could prove useful, as some of the most cheap ioun stones (especially in their cracked and flawed variants). There are also some new spells you can select and try to learn.

---

Hope this was useful! Hopefully we can use this slow Holiday period as a way to further improve your characters and add some extra detail to them using the new legal sources.

Hope we all had a nice weekend! Looks like we have a lot to go over (in an exciting way).

How would you feel about re-flavoring some of the regional or racial traits to be more appropriate for our situation? For instance, i like the Brastlewark Businessman and Successful Shirker traits, but I'm also totally fine with sticking to the typical restrictions.

Female NG Human (Taldan) Cleric 6 | HP: 37/40| AC: 19 (11 Tch, 17 Fl)| CMB: +5, CMD: 16 | F: +6, R: +3, W: +9| Init: +1 | Perc:+4, SM:+13 | Speed 20ft | 3d6 Channel Energy 6/7 | Spells: 1st 1/6, 2nd 2/5 3rd 1/4| Active conditions: Bless, Invisibility Purge, Protection from Energy, Sanctuary, Shield of Faith.

I agree! lots to look through, and I hope everyone had a wonderful time with family.

I'll be taking Desperate Focus and Patient Optimist, if it's Erastil requirement is not an issue. They fit Merephel far too well to not take them.

I'll add them to the sheet, but leave the bonuses off. I'll add the bonuses when we officially hit 3rd.

Male LG Human (Nirmathi) Monk 6

That's a nice Christmas present, Giuseppe. :)

I've had a look around the talents. Haven't fully decided yet, but will note here the ones I like so far: Cliff Jumper (Cheliax), Ease of Faith, Skeptic, Charming, Suspicious.

Male CG Half-Orc Ranger 6 | HP: 51/51 | AC: 22 (15 Tch, 17 Fl) {SoF} | CMB: +9, CMD: 22 | F: +6, R: +8, W: +4 | Init: +3 | Perc: +11, SM: +9 | Speed 30ft | Orc Ferocity: 1/1 | CLW Wand 14/50 | Spells Remaining: 2/2 | Active conditions: Shield of Faith

None of the Cheliax fates particularly fit Korech (and he doesn't qualify for most of them). From the web enhancement's selection, I think I'll go with suspicious and reactionary. Reactionary is probably the most popular trait ever, but it really does fit Korech quite nicely. POverty-stricken also fits.

Council of Thieves Maps

I would prefer you to take flavourful traits instead of mechanichally effective traits, so I'm going to say no to ignoring the traits requirements :)

Male CG Half-Orc Ranger 6 | HP: 51/51 | AC: 22 (15 Tch, 17 Fl) {SoF} | CMB: +9, CMD: 22 | F: +6, R: +8, W: +4 | Init: +3 | Perc: +11, SM: +9 | Speed 30ft | Orc Ferocity: 1/1 | CLW Wand 14/50 | Spells Remaining: 2/2 | Active conditions: Shield of Faith

Well reactionary is thematically appropriate, but again, it's the trait everyone takes. So I'll skip it.

I'll take Dump Salvager and just say that it applies to how Korech grew up scavenging in the forest. As well, I'll keep suspicious.

BUYING GOODS IN KASSEN

Characters wishing to buy goods and provisions in Kassen have no trouble finding most standard gear, so long as its value is 500 gp or less (including most armor and masterwork weapons). Magic items, however, are a bit harder to come buy. There is a 75% chance of finding any magic item with a value of 500 gp or less, generally limiting the town to 2nd-level potions and 3rd-level scrolls. These items can be purchased from Holgast and Father Prasst.

In addition, the following items can be found for sale in the town.

Braggar has a suit of half-plate for sale, sized for a Medium creature (that he can adjust to fit a Small creature for an additional 20 gp). He also has a +1 longsword (2,315 gp) and a +1 light wooden shield (1,153 gp) for sale.

Father Prasst has a wand of cure light wounds with 22 charges remaining that he would sell for 300 gp.

Holgast has a number of items for sale, including a hand of the mage (900 gp), a ring of feather falling (2,200 gp), a ring of counterspells (4,000 gp), a wand of burning hands (CL 2nd, 50 charges, 1,500 gp), and a decanter of endless water (9,000 gp).

I've done some housekeeping on the loot list:

- Coins moved to the top. With GM permission, can we pool these into a generic 'gold coin pool'?
- After that, I've put up some items that I've nominated for sale. We'll see about visiting some people in town for what they'll give for them.
- Then, a couple of generic supplies. They seem of little value. I'd propose dropping these from the list. Anyone can buy this stuff if they have need of it.

- Then, the largest category: Stuff that is still unclaimed. If any of you have any of these items on your equipment list, please remove it from the loot list (transfer the line to the second tab if you'd like). Stuff that's still unidentified should stay up here, for reminder.

- Finally, some clues and 'quest items' (for lack of a better word). I'd like to propose we keep these on the list. It doesn't matter so much who is keeping these, and having them in a central place might be good for piecing together clues.

Well done, Calden! Thank you. As for your question: yes, you can pool the coins into a generic gold coin pool, assuming you will spend some time in the future to convert silver and copper coins into golden pieces.

Council of Thieves Maps

Alright, I've put some efforts in improving the layout of our treasure sheet. Now the items should be well divided and easier to find. Please note the items you're claiming for your PC in your character's sheet and then delete the item from the list.

Council of Thieves Maps

Merephel's Spellcraft check to identify Calden's second potion and her own scroll.

Calden's potion (DC 18): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Merephel's scroll (DC 18): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15

Calden's second potion is a potion of owl's wisdom.

Okay, looking over the loot stuff, Korech can make good use of the chainmail since medium armour is kind of the sweet spot for him. That said, I think Merephel could make use of it. Thoughts?

The longsword isn't anyone's main weapon. Korech can use it, but may be best if sold.

Finally, Korech just spent 300 gold on remove disease that I intend to sort out from the loot here. :D So I'll want to know what we're selling, and then go from there. Once I know how much gold we all have I can go shopping.

And GM - is there any way that the bow from Arnama can be improved to get a strength rating?

My vote it that we donate Kassen's Sword and Shield to the city. Or at least sell it to someone who would respect it. As much as I want to keep them, they really belong here in Kassen, you know?

As for the chainmail, you take it. Not to worry. I won't have to heal you as much if you have a higher AC anyway, so we both win!

I was hoping Shirzon could post and react to Ilimara before I would make a next post. Maybe she has fallen asleep from too much alcohol? ;)

(Everything OK, Shirzon?)

I'm waiting for Shirzon too before I post. But we're doing a great job already in keeping the gameplay thread updated even during these Holidays. I think we need for this holidays to pass before we can resume our usual pace.

Like, episodes one through seven? Are you including the Christmas special?

Gonna skip Episode One if we run out of time, and watch it during the week.

I found this great essay online detailing about a million reasons to watch the movies in a certain order, that isn't chronological or by release date.

The author suggested 4,5,2,3,6, which preserves the major spoiler about Vader at the end of Episode 5, and then makes the episodes 2+3 basically an extended flashback about Anakin's transformation. That way, when you get to Episode 6, you have seen a lot more parallels between Anakin and Luke, from watching 2 movies from their perspectives each, and Episode 6 is a sort of wrap-up for both stories simultaneously. It's close enough to Christmas we might do the Christmas special, that's a possibility.

Then, yes, to the theater for Episode 7! The wife and I have already seen it, so that way if the younger kid needs to use the bathroom we won't miss anything. So 6 or 7 movies this weekend, depending on time, and our usual Friday Pathfinder game.

Male LG Human (Nirmathi) Monk 6

Don't worry, all. Real life comes first.

Enjoy the movies, Merephel. I won't be able to see episode 7 for another three weeks, unfortunately. We had agreed to watch it with our regular club of friends, but busy schedules all around mean that won't be before the 19th. Seems like ages yet... :(

Thanks for your patience with my posting, friends. :)

I'm working out Shirzon's gear, and I'll post some mercantile stuff once I get a fuller idea of our financial situation.

I was psyched about that bag of holding, because I thought it would help drop my carry weight. Problem is, I was already pretty close to max weight, so most everything I have I want to keep readily available and not in the bag. :P I think I'm gonna put my maces in there since hopefully we're done fighting skeletons for a little while, as well as Asar's skull, and then just save room for loot. I'm also thinking I should switch to leather armor instead of studded leather. I think the drop in AC is worth the 5 pounds difference (especially when my medium load AC is the same as my light load with leather armor, and that seemed to do okay against Asar!).

Female N Half-orc Rogue 6 | HP: 51/51 | AC: 23 19 (15 Tch, 19 Fl) (+2 vs traps and evil creatures) | CMB: +5, CMD: 20 (+2 vs evil)| F: +5, R: +10 (evasion, +2 vs traps), W: +5; +1 vs evil | Init: +4 | Perc: +11 (+3 traps), SM: +3 | Speed 30ft | Orc Ferocity: 1/1 | Resiliency (6 hp) 0/1 | Active conditions: 1 Con drain, shield, protection from evil

Update: Holy moly. I've never actually had a bag of holding before, and those things are heavy! I think we may want to make it a more communal item (and have someone stronger carry it). It weighs 15 pounds, but it can hold 250. I was thinking it was more handy haversack sized...

Male LG Human (Nirmathi) Monk 6

Sure, I could carry it if we use it just for communal items and heavy stuff that people don't need on hand.

I'm in northern Canada. We'll ship some down. Although actually it's mostly cold. Very little snow this year!

Male LG Human (Nirmathi) Monk 6

We've had our first frost and snow yesterday. It shows we're not used to it here: Half the country is on hold today, no one dares go out to work/school because of the icy roads.

I've made the necessary changes to Calden to get him to level 3:
+1 BAB
+ 7 hp (1d8+1 +1 fcb)
Fast movement (+10 ft.)
Maneuver training (full BAB on CMB)
Still mind (+2 on saving throw versus enchantment spells and effects)

Traits: Ease of Faith, Charming
Skill points: Acrobatics, Diplomacy, Knowledge Local, Knowledge religion, Perception. (I've included the bonuses from the ioun stone on my sheet)

The only thing I haven't decided yet is my feat. I have a shortlist, will make a definitive choice later. (Step Up, Scorpion Style, Weapon focus unarmed and Power Attack).
I have looked into Cornugon Stun as well, but going unarmed seems to make more sense, especially since I already have deflect arrows (which requires an empty hand) and I might end up using the wayfinder often.

Council of Thieves Maps

The only thing I can suggest you is that the Step Up feat is a bit problematic in PbP.
