Since Shirzon's proposal has been seconded, I'll assume that you go up then :)

Korech |

Up it is! And apologies again. Life is chaos. :D

Calden Tigg |

Even though we can't form a plan as characters, I thought to post some suggestions for a 'story'. Calden put Shirzon forward because she has the highest Bluff, but I wouldn't want you to think you'd have to think of something on your own. Some suggestions:
- Krant has us doing chores (in the large chapel room?), as night time punishment.
- We've been invited by the Heralds to provide some night time entertainment. It's supposed to be a secret...
- We're trying to plan some harmless revenge/prank on Krant, but we need some stuff from the Meeting room.
Note: I don't have access to Roll20 and forgot where the stairs to the upper level is. I think it would be best to pick an excuse that brings us straight to the top level, or near the stairs.

Calden Tigg |

Korech, the DC to Intimidate is only 11, and it gives a +5 bonus on the Diplomacy roll. Can't you try that one? Might even be possible with Take 10, so there's little risk to worsen our situation...
-Posted with Wayfinder

Shirzon the Quarter |

It's a slightly better than 50% chance, but Korech might be better at following up on a threat of violence than actually making one. We'll see, though!

Calden Tigg |

With Take 10 (if Giuseppe would allow it), there's no chance involved...

GM Giuseppe |

Guys, I would really like to respect my deadline and post, but I can't really bot Merephel in this situation :(

Korech |

Whoops, sure, I'll roll for an intimidate. Sorry for the very brief posts her. Life has been topsy turvy and will settle out shortly!

Calden Tigg |

Meph, we're relying on you to make the primary Diplomacy roll. :)
(Don't forget that all of you still have the Kassen armor scale for a reroll, if the dice aren't kind.)

Merephel Angorat |

/facepalm You're right. Here it is.
Diplomacy Roll: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
Oh, nuts. It's okay, the guard wants to believe us, right?

GM Giuseppe |

Guys, just a quick heads-up: you can only take a move OR a standard action during a surprise round, and drawing a weapon is a move action unfortunately. I specified no one was armed in my previous post; otherwise, the acolyte would have attacked you on sight.

Shirzon the Quarter |

I know you can charge (and draw a weapon during that move), although only up to your speed, in the surprise round. Hoping I have a charge lane, otherwise I'll just get my mace out.

Shirzon the Quarter |

Merephel coming through with the silence! that should make things easier on us :)

Korech |

I had indicated in a prior post that Korech was carrying his bow.

GM Giuseppe |

Ok guys, now that Korech warned you try to push a bit and provide me with an action plan.
Also, Korech: the door might be barred from the inside by pushing multiple benches against it, but that will likely cause a lot of noise. Would you like to do it anyway?

Merephel Angorat |

I think stealth it still our best option. If the benches would be super noisy, it may be best to ignore them.

Calden Tigg |

I'd say we take the surprise round and fight. Punishment for coming here is harsh, so they won't just let us leave. Alternatively, I apologize and leave, maybe drawing one of them with me, so you can take care of the other.

GM Giuseppe |

Thank you for updating your vital stats Merephel. Now I just need you to backtrack a bit and remove the uses of channel energy you used in the fight against the earth elementals.
P.S. We just reached 1,000 posts in the gameplay thread. Thumbs up for our gaming group!

Shirzon the Quarter |

Woohoo! Great job on the post count, friends!
Also, I only just realized that I missed a post last night. Sorry! I was pretty out of it last night.

GM Giuseppe |

8d10 ⇒ (4, 4, 4, 1, 6, 4, 5, 8) = 36
Priests and acolytes loot: 2 short swords, 4 daggers, 4 potions of cure light wounds, 4 smokesticks, 2 masterwork rapiers, 2 light crossbows with 40 bolts, 2 saps, 2 +1 studded leather armors, 2 studded leather armors, 2 masterwork light steel shields, 2 light wooden shields, 2 white robes, 2 gray robes, 3 iron masks, 4 sunrods, 2 thieves tools, 36 gp

Merephel Angorat |

Should we post everything in rounds?
Also, everyone grab those healing potions and use them if you need them. Merephel is low on magic and channels both.

Shirzon the Quarter |

I totally forgot about that elemental gem. This is definitely a great time to use it!
Do you all think we should try to knock out the black robe herald and hope for a key? Or should Shirzon start trying to pick the lock?

Calden Tigg |

Picking the lock takes way too long, in combat rounds. We could use you better in the fight.

Paizo.com is launching its twitch channel, and they've decided to create a humblebundle offer. Unfortunately, the process of personalizing the downloaded PDFs is slowing down the site.

GM Giuseppe |

I think the crossbow attack should miss, due to my Deflect arrows feat.
Whoops, I'm always forgetting about it. Sorry about that, Calden: I'm not so used to have monks in my party (for some reasons, my real life players never actually played one). So yes, you're correct. You've deflected the crossbow bolt.

Korech |

Sorry for relative silence on discussion guys, last week has been one of chaotic family emergencies and I've barely been able to keep up with my posts. Things have settled out though :)

I'm just glad to hear that everything is settling down! Hope everything can resolve well.

Same here, I'm very glad you found the time to post nonetheless, thank you!

Calden Tigg |

It just occurred to me that I forgot to reply to Shirzon and her reaction to the spoon feeding. That's a shame, because I really liked the reaction. I'll try to add a retcon in a later post, when I have a bit more time...

Calden Tigg |

Giuseppe, we don't know what kind of healing potion the Herald had on him. It was just labeled 'healing', so we don't know the amount of dice to roll. :)

GM Giuseppe |

Calden, should you be healed up, there's some action you would like to take in your turn (such as drinking a potion or something like that)?

GM Giuseppe |

I'll drink a potion of CMW in that case.

Good, thank you Iff.

GM Giuseppe |

Hey everyone, I'm sorry for the lack of posting, but I failed my Fortitude save and got a bad flu. I've been completely unable to forge a coherent post. I'll be back as soon as possible!

Merephel Angorat |

Get better! It's okay. Life happens.

Shirzon the Quarter |

Totally understandable! Take your time, and I hope you feel better soon!

Korech |

I have a miserable cold and so I completely sympathize. Heal up!

GM Giuseppe |

I'm back guys. Well, not back at my full strenght, but I think I can make a post at least :D Thank you!

GM Giuseppe |

You've earned enough XP to level up!
...
Too bad you can't level up before resting :D
(Evil laughter) :D

Merephel Angorat |

Great first round against Krant guys! Really, well played!

GM Giuseppe |

And this is it guys! Congratulations on completing the Mask of the Living Gods Pathfinder Module!
You only need a last post in order to complete the quest. Please try to make a good closing post, detailing the info you've gathered, your feelings about the temple and cultists and so on!
Now it's time for us take our time and decide whether we want to continue with the last module or not! Let me know your thoughts about and we'll make a decision as soon as possible.

Calden Tigg |

Wooh! Things didn't look so good for a while, but I'm really glad that we finished. Well done, all, thanks to everyone for playing and especially to Giuseppe for all the time that you put into this module with us.
--
I've put some thought to your question about continuing, during the last couple of weeks. In truth, I'm conflicted on the matter. When we just finished the Everflame and were prepping in Kassen, I was really hyped about the campaign and feeling a lot of energy. Halfway through the Masks module, we hit a real slump and I just wanted to get through the module, to finish it and be done. I'm glad that we picked up from there and the energy did improve. Still, I felt that there was less of a 'spark' than during the first domule.
That's mostly the source of my conflict. On the one hand, I really like our characters and the story we've woven so far. I'd like to see it through to its conclusion. On the other hand, I know that things haven't been as good as they were, or could be, and I have a fear that we only held out the last couple of weeks because we could see the end to this module in sight.
That should do for now. Interested to read how the others feel. Giuseppe, I'd also like to hear some of your thoughts on the matter.

GM Giuseppe |

I agree on several points, Iff. I've noticed that, halfway though this last module, we slowed down significantly, resulting in a loss of hype. It lasted for a week or two, and during those weeks I thought that I would lead you through the end of the adventure and then put the word "end" to the campaign. Thankfully, we managed to pick up from there and in the last few weeks we did pretty well.
There were some choices I didn't share: ie. sometimes Merephel didn't do nothing in combat, and that just wasn't good. She had an alchemist fire and several useful scroll to contribute to the battle, but she didn't use them and I couldn't see why.
With that said, however, I must also say that we are a rather solid group. We finished two modules in less than 5 months. Take a look at other Price of Immortality games here on the boards. Even after a few years, they're still in the Crypt of the Everflame. I think that this accounts hugely for our group. It'd be difficult to find another group as solid and consistant as this one. And the story we have wowen together so far is good and enjoyable.
Personally, I would like to get you through the end of this campaign arc. But only if you can grant me the frequent amount of posting you did back when we were playing Crypt of the Everflame. I love your characters, our story, and the group as a whole. It would be a shame not to continue. On the other hand, though, I'm aware that if we don't have the same energy as before, we would only end up ruining all that we've done so far...So, really, this depends on you. Personally, I've tried my best to give you a good time and I felt sorry when reading Calden's opinion on this matter. So let me know how are you feeling about continuing or stopping here. It's up to you, in the end.

Merephel Angorat |

Personally, I love this game and the group. I would vote to continue.
As for Merephel's actions in combat, I was trying to convey her as something of a pseudo-pacifist. I would always keep the word gentle in my mind as I wrote her posts, trying to get the feel for what an innocent, gentle child would do in those situations. She will fight to protect her friends, but isn't much of a fighter, and definitely is a defensive spellcaster. She just doesn't have many spells per day. I apologize if that didn't come across, but that was my intention. As for the scrolls, most of the good ones are still outside her caster level, and as such she wouldn't want to risk losing them.

GM Giuseppe |

I know Meph, I know you did it for RP purposes. But still, I think that you need to contribute in order for the party to succeed. Maybe, if we continue, you could start to describe a little alteration in Merephel's pacifist habit, caused by the violence he had to endure in the last few weeks, motivated by a sense of protection more than the will to actually hurt Others.

GM Giuseppe |

Hey guys, I would like to hear back from both Shirzon and Korech before making up my mind. You two adorable half-orcs, I summon you in the name of Kassen!

Shirzon the Quarter |

So, I've been thinking about it, and I'm conflicted as well. I do like our group, and I think our chemistry is really working out! However, I am concerned about my own ability to maintain this posting rate.
Additionally, I've played the next module before, and I'm not super excited about it. Last time I didn't have the experience of playing it as part of the whole arc, though, so I think that would certainly improve the experience this time. My biggest concern with this particular module is that this one also has a part in the middle that's kind of a slog. Perhaps GM Giuseppe has plans to change that part, but I just know what the book says is in that part.
So that's where I am. I've had a really great time with this adventure, but I'm on the fence. I feel like I need a little more time to think about it, or maybe some mute discussion, but I wanted to share my thoughts so you all can know how I'm feeling about it right now.
