GM Giuseppe |
Just want to make sure, since I'm acting before either of the enemy are able to take their first action will they be considered flat-footed?
Forget if that's just in Surprise rounds or in round 1 too.
Yes, they'll be flat-footed because they have not acted yet.
Dolgarth |
I think in Core you can still do the full character rebuild at level 2, but no other forms of retraining are allowed, unless maybe there are some Chronicles that allow it, I don't know.
GM Giuseppe |
Just so you know, Dalirio is holding a heavy flail, so he threatens the area around him. The walking dead's staff is merely for flavor instead, and the undead threarens only the squares adjacent to it.
Aldus the Supplicant |
Ok, no problem. I'll start it next round, then. Might as well use that round to get the rapier out and charge the thing on the following, if it's still alive.
Jakwin Howell |
If you kick it off this round, we overlap Performance. If you kick it off next round, you get anther attack this round and then begin Performance fresh when mine falls off.
There may be a gap for some people in there, but if it's critical to et that bonus constantly, we can just delay/ready until you start yours. :)
I'm thinking the priority needs to be on dropping this undead thing (meaning more attacks)
Aldus the Supplicant |
Oh well, looks like this discussion is now moot. Good job, Jakwin =)
So, now this is over I'll finally drop arcane strike and get precise shot to be a tad more useful in combat.
Aldus the Supplicant |
Me too…but perhaps silver or cold iron could have worked? Once we know how much money we have, Aldus will get some fancy arrows for these occasions.
Fiametta the Kantarian |
Standard PFS advice:
Everyone should have a silver weapon and a cold iron weapon. A cold iron dagger is 4gp, a silver light mace is 25gp. Cheap insurance. (20 cold iron arrows are 2 gp, not sure about silver.)
Have a way to deal with swarms.
Have a ranged attack.
Have a way to deal with darkness.
We all did *great*.
Fiametta the Kantarian |
Yeah, I went back and looked and we needed silver for that thing. I had a silver dagger, but even if I had known I was better off using acid.
Aldus the Supplicant |
Thanks for the info, Fiametta. I also want to get a sling to have blunt damage, but not sure Aldus will have the strength to carry everything. Might have to drop the rapier for a dagger.
Also, regarding silver arrows: is it +2gp per arrow or per bundle? Googling seems to indicate that it's per arrow, but couldn't find an official source.
GM Giuseppe |
Hey guys, can I have your PFS info? I need the following.
Player's name
Pathfinder Society #
Faction
Start GP (before any purchase made in game)
GM Giuseppe |
Anyway, guys, I could really use some help on how to register a PFS GM alias. As I said before, we don't have PFS in Italy, and I'm a little confused about it. What should I do in order to create a PFS GM alias and receive the corresponding number?
Fiametta the Kantarian |
You don't specifically register as a GM. You register as a player, and then create a new character. When you report your games, you give your credit to that character. (Basically you'll also be leveling a character up to 9 with us.)
Fiametta the Kantarian |
FYI, I just got a new computer and am in the process of migrating stuff over, which means I'm doing everything on my tablet for the next few days. So short posts.
Dolgarth |
Player: Saving Cap'n Crunch

I will have the chronicle sheets ready for tomorrow afternoon, once I get to my parents' home. In the meantime, I'll use this time for roleplaying purposes, and also to determine whetere you succeeded in the scenario's secondary success condition.
GM Giuseppe |
Okay guys, I'm definitely struggling with the chronicle sheets! Printing them down and them filling them out is way too time-consuming, and there are a few fields that I don't know how to fill (such as GM Pathfinder Society #, Scenario Chronicle #, Event Code, date). Filling it via paint or other virtual programs do not solve the problems, because there are still some fields I don't know how to fill (see above)-besides, it's a very time-consuming task, since adding single text boxes is chaotic and slow.
I'm sorry to have been so slow, but as I said before starting the campaign, I'm an absolute beginner at PFS and would need some tips in order to finally deal with these boring chronicle sheets.
Aldus the Supplicant |
Damn, wish I could help, but I'm even more of a beginner than you at PFS. In effect, I am a bit weirded out by all the bureaucracy surrounding it; it seems to take away some of the fun of the game, from my newbie point of view.
Dolgarth |
Yeah, it does kind of take some of the fun out, but the necessity gets more evident the longer you play. I've been playing for about three years now. I can help with what needs to be added to the fields, but I don't know how to use paint programs very well, if at all.
Jakwin Howell |
I can't help with the GM code, Event code, and date, but I'm able to edit the rest of the fields myself via Photoshop. If we get to that point, I could just put it back in front of you for final sign-off. That would mean you'd only need to do the bare necessities for each chronicle sheet.
I can't speak for my fellow players.
GM Giuseppe |
Hey guys, I've finally managed to get almost all of the chronicles ready, apart from Nebraska's (who didn't post her PFS info) and Aldus', whose PFS# was not correct. I managed to report the game, and will provide you with your chronicles as soon as possible.
Anyway, while doing it, I've realized that this is very, very, very time-consuming, and takes the fun out of it completely for me. I'm not used to PFS, and it took me something like 3 hours to complete the chronicles and report the event. I'm afraid I won't be able to devote all this time to the game in the future, so unless someone can come up with a good idea on how to save time and take some work off my shoulders, I believe this will stay our first and last scenario. I didn't think it was so complicated to report a PFS game, honestly.
Dolgarth |
I honestly have not GM'd much on the boards, and the games I GM in real life are usually reported by the store PFS coordinator. However, I will take the question to the Flaxseed Lodge, where dwell many knowledgeable people. Worry not, we'll figure something out.
Aldus the Supplicant |
Hi, Giuseppe. Sorry, I somehow managed to fumble my copypaste and missed the –1.
Here's all the info again:
Player's name: gui machiavelli
Pathfinder Society #237207-1
Faction Liberty's Edge
Start GP 11.8
With that out of the way, it's really sad to hear that, but I can understand it. I am sure that, as Dolgarth and Nebraska pointed out, there are significant benefits to PFS, but if it's a bore to you it makes no sense (even if it might get easier after one grows used to the system, which I hope it does).
I'm probably the only one who feels like this, but if Dolgarth's suggestion doesn't help, I would also be fine with us just dropping the PFS bits and have a good time. Benefit: we can finally open Thunderbucket.
GM Giuseppe |
OK, guys, I did it! Thanks to the help of the wonderful people at the Flaxseed Lodge, I managed to fill your chronicles using Acrobat Reader in less than 25 minutes. Now they're up and ready, let me know if there's any mistake in your own chronicle so that I can fix it.
A few side notes.
1. Fiammetta, you contracted a disease, so you may want to have it cured before the start of the next scenario.
2. Since this time I'm going to pre-fill the chronicles when I have time as we play through it, please could you copy/paste your purchases between the first and the second scenario here in the Discussion Thread? If someone could make a Google Doc or something which everyone could edit, it would be even better for me, because I'd be able to find all the relevant information in the same place when I need them.
3. We're going to start the second scenario tomorrow!
Dolgarth |
All right! Chronicles look fine, so I'd say we're in good shape! I will make my purchases and a Google Doc sometime today or tomorrow, but right now I am going to a Super Bowl party. Much as I might not care about the game, I am not one to turn down free food.
Aldus the Supplicant |
Yay! Amazing news! Aldus' chronicle seems fine too.
Question to group: who's going to get the CLW wand? Jak? As Nebraska said, might be a bit of waste to have 5 of those.
Have a nice superb owl party, Dolgarth =)
GM Giuseppe |
Ohoh, superbowl! It is always strange to realize that in other countries other sports exist apart from football (by which I mean, of course, the sport Americans know as soccer).
GM Giuseppe |
Hey everyone, I've created the Google Document to track our progresses. I've sent you an invitation to edit it. You should fill in all the required information for you character before tomorrow, so that we can get the next scenario started. Hope you like it!
Nebraska Jones |
Wow, so sorry for not being chatty! I just realized I haven't been getting notifications for the discussion tab. I'll contact Paizo about it today.
Nebraska Jones |
First off, Chronicle looks great GM! Again, so sorry you had to PM me. Dolgarth, great idea going to the Flaxseed Lodge too! 3 hours is crazy, <25 minutes makes way more sense. I really enjoyed that first part and feel bad that I wasn't aware of the discussions last week.
I'll post sometime through out the day as well.
Jakwin Howell |
Chronicle sheet looks good, but I don't believe we've rolled for Day Jobs, yet. Should we go ahead an duo that and so it can be updated onto the current ones?
I only ask because it may impact my purchases between games.
GM Giuseppe |
I will add the gp gained through your day job to the next chronicle sheet. In the meantime, roll the check in the Gameplay Thread as part of your next post and add the gp gained your current wealth.
Nebraska Jones |
What I'm thinking is below. I'll update the sheet and repost it in my gameplay post. Just putting it here for others to see in case it effects their decisions. Also want to start the conversation on healing. What's everyone's plan? If there are going to be other happy sticks out there then I'll hold off at the moment and pick one up next opportunity, grabbing Mage Armor right now.

GM Giuseppe |
No need for two rolls Jakwin. You will roll again at the end of the current scenario.
Jakwin Howell |
I get that, but it feels awkward for Day Job results to be reflected the following Chronicle sheet (as opposed to the Chronicle sheet for the actual Scenario).
I think it'll mean cleaner book-keeping down the line as we progress. (I'm not suggesting we modify the current Chronicle sheets so much as course-correct as we move forward).
Nebraska Jones |
Neb I believe the bandolier is not in the Core Rulebook.
Aha! Keen eye, well done. It was mostly for flair, but for the crossbow bolts would having them in a belt pouch be acceptable? A move action to draw the new bolt out and a move action to reload the crossbow.
Aldus the Supplicant |
I think I'm pretty much done with Aldus' shopping. Google doc updated.
@Nebraska: Jak got one CLW wand, Aldus will get another. I would say that's enough for the next scenario or two, but feel free to get another if you prefer.
GM Giuseppe |
Jak so whats your proposal? The only thing I'm against is to edit the chronicles, since that would mean doing them once again, because I cannot delete the fields anymore.
Jakwin Howell |
Leave the ones you've created as-is.
Then, on the next chronicle sheet, note "Chronicle 1 Dayjob = XX gold" on it.
Then, have us go ahead and roll Day Job for our second Scenario (and Second Chronicle Sheet) now, and also include a "Chronicle 2 Day Job= XX gold" on the second Chronicle sheet, as well.
That way, once we get to the third Chronicle sheet (and beyond), we're only listing the current Day Job roll gold on it (as opposed to the roll from the game before).
Fiametta the Kantarian |
Sorry about the radio silence -- I finally have my computer up and running.
Chronicle sheet looks good.
For the disease, how many saves do I need to make to cure tha? I'm thinking to save time I'll try one, and if that doesn't do it, I'll buy a Cure Disease. (Spellcasting services are in the Guide to Organized Play; that one costs 150gp.)
I like Jakwin's idea for Day Jobs.
I'm also going to get a CLW wand; the other ones I often see people getting are Mage Armor and Enlarge Person.
I'll have my purchases finalized by the end of the day -- the only thing I know I'm going to buy right now is a Combat Trained Mule to keep Norgy safe. I think I'm mostly just saving up my money right now, though.
