I didn't move Aldus on the map, but I was imagining him close to Luscilia during the interrogation. Is it alright if he starts the encounter there instead? I had a similar feeling from Fiametta's latest post.

I agree that it seems intuitive that we'd all be at least in that half of the ship. I role played working with the shackles and kneeling at Luscilia's side so I'm going to adjust Nebraska's position to reflect that.
Also, high-five Jak on the potion rolls! Things are looking up!

Was going to ask exactly the same question.

"I don't execute prisoners, Nebraska. She's tied up and doesn't have her holy symbol, so I'm not worried about her. But if she makes herself a combatant, I will end her.
Actually, with my strength, I'm exceedingly unlikely to end her, even on a Coup de Gras. So I'm making a virtue out of necessity.
GM Giuseppe |
Aldus, I believe you forgot to include the -4 penalty for firing into melee (you don't have the Precise Shot feat, right?)
Aldus the Supplicant |
Damn, you're right, I confused disabled with unconscious. Too late to change target now, I guess. Will be more careful in the future.
Fiametta the Kantarian |
Nebraska: if yellow follows after me, I think you would be able to get into flanking position with me. I don't dare attack, but I do have a dagger in my hand.
That assumes I don't get knocked unconscious, of course.
Dolgarth |
Oh, and I should have done 1pt more damage against orange last turn, I hadn't realized Aldus had started his performance.
Inspire Courage doesn't apply to spells, sadly.

You are correct, thank you. I'd never noticed that before. I've consistently seen that done wrong.

Brave attempt! I had never seen a bluffed spell before, pretty epic. Aldus can still get me flanking if he feels risky, not sure if it's that worth it though.
Nebraska Jones |
GM: As with Jak, Nebraska is listed at 1hp but is currently at 9hp after taken the potion in round 1.
Dolgarth: Forgot to mention earlier but got a kick out of the back-to-back double dragon pose!

Decided to take a chance. May the RNG have mercy on me.

Lol, you just gotta stay standing, I feel good about a 13 against FF at this level. The RNG does love to see half our party on the ground at a time though..
GM Giuseppe |
Hey guys, sorry for the not-so-good post, but today has been hectic to say the least!
Anyway, Jakwin, I'm sorry about that. I forgot our agreements and thought that we had settled for 1 post/day in each day of the weekend. Anyway, we can drop it to 1/weekend, if we can keep the pace up for the whole week.

Blessed be the RNG. Also, you forgot the +1 inspire courage on the roll, but I am fairly confident Aldus got him now with a 19 and possible crit crossing fingers.
GM Giuseppe |
Yep, I think you got it. Please remember Nebraska and Dolgarth act before Aldus so they don't know the outcome of his attack!

Oh! I thought we were posting in the same round, so last round wasn't flanking but this round will be?

GM: Since we're in a town would we be able to buy some CLW scrolls enroute to the next location?

Definitely yes.
Aldus the Supplicant |
@Giuseppe: bless your heart
Nebraska Jones |
Fantastic! Second thought, is there anything stopping us from taking the gear from the fighters and monks and selling it to pay for said scrolls?
Fiametta the Kantarian |
I've seen GMs allow that, and I've seen GMs disallow it. It's cleanest if we've recovered enough cash to buy it straight out. Either way, it would show up as a deduction on our next chronicle sheet.
If we are using the value of the goods to pay for it, that strongly implies we're buying directly from the Lodge.
What are we looking to buy, probably two or three scrolls? I'll be the buyer for one of those.
Aldus the Supplicant |
I'd say three scrolls? Would rather have too many. Aldus will definitely be a buyer.
Aldus the Supplicant |
How much money do we have? Is anyone keeping a tally? I'm preparing for an MA presentation tomorrow, so currently a bit short on time to do it myself at the moment (sorry).
If we get at least 40gp each, Aldus will buy 2 CLW scrolls (one for immediate use, another in case we need it).
If we get less than 40gp and more than 15gp, he'll buy one.
GM Giuseppe |
Seems like we're still waiting for the others to finalize their purchases. Deadline extended to 08:00 P.M. GMT +1.
GM Giuseppe |
Also, can someone point me to a thread where I can find out how to edit chronicle sheets directly on my PC without having to print them and then scan them?

I haven't seen a thread on this, but I'd assume the easiest option is get it into a simple paint program. As far as the copy paste part, Windows has the snipping tool and I'm sure Apple and Linux have similar functionality.
Dolgarth |
I'm not sure what you mean by finalizing purchases. I haven't bought anything this adventure, lacking the money to purchase even a scroll, and we don't know how much the Chronicle gives us yet. I can guess what I would purchase, which is probably just a masterwork flail and some basic items, maybe a different set of armor if I have enough left over.
Aldus the Supplicant |
In case you're just waiting for me to confirm: Aldus will only get one scroll (which he already used).
GM Giuseppe |
By "purchases" I mean the healing scrolls. You'll make other purchases as normal after we complete the scenario. In other words, I need to know who's buying healing scrolls and how many.
This far, I have:
- Aldus: 1 scroll
- Fiammetta: 1 scroll
- Nebraska: 1 scroll
Is that correct? Are Dolgarth and Jawkin buying scrolls?
Dolgarth |
No, I only have 18 GP and 9 SP. I'll buy a few at the end of the adventure.
GM Giuseppe |
Aldus, I think you cannot draw your rapier as part of your move actions, since your BAB is not +1 yet.
Aldus the Supplicant |
@GM: you're right, ignore the draw weapon bit
Dolgarth |
I don't think you took any falling damage, Jak, the DC was 10 for the Acrobatics check.
GM Giuseppe |
Hey guys, very hectic day at work. I prepared a post but then Word crashed and I wasn't able to retrieve the post. I'll be posting tomorrow morning, I'm really exhausted now.
Dolgarth |
The trapdoor opens into a 10 feet shaft. The first Pathfinder through the trap door must drop down (Acrobatics DC 10 check to drop 10 feet, otherwise 1d6 falling damage).
Here's the post, but let's wait for an executive order before we do anything.
Nebraska Jones |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
GM: I was worried if my Mage Armor would burn away, thank you very much for these last 5 minutes!
GM Giuseppe |
Jak, you still take damage. In the line cited by Dolgarth, only the first PC through the trap door is mentioned only because there's a ladder below that the first PC could have used in order to allow you to climb down using it. But since Dolgarth had more urgent matters to deal with, you were forced to climb the rope or drop down.
@Nebraska: ;)
Aldus the Supplicant |
Sorry, just realised I hadn't draw the rapier on the previous round!
Aldus will take a 5-foot step and attack instead, without flanking and acrobatics. Should I write another post?
Nebraska Jones |
Been thinking about what Nebs will look like in the future and have a UMD scroll question for you GM.
Below is what I've been able to gather, corrections and thoughts are welcomed.
Decyphering DC = 25 + spell level
Fake Ability DC = 15 + spell level
Activate Spell DC = 20 + spell level
As Nebraska has UMD +14, the ability check won't ever be a problem. PFS assumes all scrolls are wizard/cleric/druid so CHA casting might be out? Likewise Activate won't be much of an issue either, scroll mishap occures when you fail the check by 10+ or fail the ability check, sometimes called the caster check. As I'm interested in lvl 1 and 2 spells at the beginning here, so mishap would only happen on rolling a 1 or a 2 on the ability DC while lvl 1.
So my issue is the decyphering, hard check there and I read another character can't just tell you what the scroll is. Nebs could:
-Take Minor Magic rogue trick and gain Read Magic cantrip. Then retrain later.
-Get a 375gp wand of Read Magic.
My questions are,
What rolls do you require to activate a scroll?
Can someone take 10 or take 20 on decyphering?
If yes, since retraining the rogue talent at lvl 4 for 200 gp requires a lvl 5 rogue with the desired talent, would this become difficult to do?
Is the wizard/cleric/druid scrolls only rule for prices only and not casting/ability score checks?
Fiametta the Kantarian |
I don't believe that you can retrain (other than the full retraining you can do before level 2) in CORE, since the retraining rules are from Ultimate Campaign.
Nebraska Jones |
Just want to make sure, since I'm acting before either of the enemy are able to take their first action will they be considered flat-footed?
Forget if that's just in Surprise rounds or in round 1 too.
Nebraska Jones |

One could make an argument that it is since Core is really the Core Rule Book, the Character Traits Web Enchancement, and the Guide to Pathfinder Society Organized Play. The PFS Guide mentions retraining, but only on versions 4ish and on due to when Ultimate Campaign came out. Since we're playing pretty honest to season 1 with the Factions I could see that same detail applying to the revision of the PFS Guide. (shrugs) We'll see what GM thinks.
