GM Giuseppe |
@GM in case you notice and wonder, before I made my gameplay post I switched from NG to CG and Studded Leather to plain Leather. Obviously that doesn't fly in game so I wanted to take the opportunity before things got moving. If it's an issue for you though I can revert back.
Not an issue at all Nebraska.

As a note, I'm coming from GMT-5 currently. Will go back to -6 in the spring.
I believe I'm the same. (US EST?)
Aldus the Supplicant |
In case it's useful I'm the same as Giuseppe (GMT +1)

I know Qadira is sorta the Exchange. Was able to figure it out via the wiki after some clicking around. Taldor
Aldus the Supplicant |
This bit reminded me a bit of the Andoran/Liberty's Edge:
And during this time among free people, free thinkers, and so-often anarchic chaos, Jak developed something else … a bone-deep belief in the power of the common man. Of independence and individuality.
But that aside I agree with Fiametta that Taldor seems to make more sense.
Aldus the Supplicant |
Andoran welcomes you with open arms, if you so wish =P
Btw, what happens if two members of the same faction are in the group? I assume they will work together in completing their tasks?
Also, missed this at the recruitment thread:
Aldus wrote:When Fiametta presents the contract, he thinks in jest 'Yes, sure, signing a contract with a Chelaxian devil worshipper, what could ever go wrong?'Congratulations! You just won the "first laugh behind the screen" prize!
Honestly, Fiametta's pure joy in presenting people (3 out of 4 chaotic) with contracts within minutes of knowing them cracked me up so hard.
Dolgarth |
Yeah, I think that'll be fun. Dolgarth likes contracts, but he isn't so likely to abide be them.
Also, I'm a little intimidated by the posting rate so far. It's nice, but I like to mull over my posts a lot and them boom, I have to go to work or something. Is anyone else feeling that? I'm not trying to get anyone to post slower, though; I'm loving the roleplay that's going on.
Nebraska Jones |
I hear ya, several times I have previewed a post to find someone posted recently and had to make some tweaks. The rate feels pretty healthy for the role play though.
I think he asked for twice a weekday in the recruitment. A very stable once a day, 7 days a week is pretty close though. The way I see it is this a new game that we're super excited about and checking often. As RL changes the rate will ebb at times for some but that consistant once a day will be the standard normalized push over the course of the 24 scenarios.

It's the beginning, with time the posting rate is going to decrease for sure, although I would like to keep it this way forever. There are several ways to handle this though: if you see that the post you weren't able to post in time is not in line with the current situation, just draw a line and separate past from present so that you can have two different settings in just one post.
Also, when we'll be in combat post are surely going to be shorter and easier to make.

Yes, cooperation would be the way in that case.

I think I'm going to run Andor; I just can't reconcile Jak with Tador's motivation (regardless of his roots being there). I'll say he ran into some Andor-faction folks in his training who really made a goo impression on him.
Nebraska Jones |
"Wait a minute!" Jak grunts, stopping Nebraska before she can wander off. "I just had a thought. You two seem like you can talk your way into and out of sticky situations. Why don't we just say 'the boss' sent us. Get us inside, ya know?" He grins mischievously, "It's gotta be worth a try, right?"
Lol, the chaotic beauty of PBP. My bad though, next time I'll spoiler the rash action so there's a "Are we all sure?" check around the table before it goes. We'll see how GM calls it, sneak was good enough to likely get by if anyone is watching with a civilian +2 or +3 perception. (fingers crossed) I was thinking I'd just case the place and then return anyways, so we can still Diplo-Bluff our way though!
Aldus the Supplicant |
Let's see how it goes. Even if the stealth fails and we attract attention I can still try and salvage it somewhat.
I was also wondering if there's any second floor. Could be an alternate entrance.

No second floor Aldus.

Just a warning that my day today is really bizarre -- I'll be able to post tonight , but not until then. Don't let that slow anything down.
GM Giuseppe |
FYI: Nefti is no longer with the group, as detailed in one of my previous posts.

2 people marked this as a favorite. |
Also, super-important piece of team information. When this scenario is open (or when Jak accumulates the Fame/Prestige for it), I'm totally buying this joint and converting it into a tavern/music venue called The Thunder Bucket.
It's gonna happen. You're all invited to be partners in this venture.
Nebraska Jones |
I'm in. Nebraska would have a lot of fun with the cover story becoming reality, going as far as continuing to develop her alter-ego. Go Core Vigilante!
Aldus the Supplicant |
I'm in as well. I guess Aldus would want to set up an AA group or something. Or PRSD (post-revolutionary stress disorder) support meetings.
Fiametta the Kantarian |
Can we do vanities in Core? If so, I'm loving that idea.
Apparently not, since the Field Guide isn't part of the rules you can use for Core.
:(
But I'm totally in on it.
Aldus the Supplicant |
@Jak: don't have the time to post immediately, but Aldus can go with inspire courage this time, since he has 8 uses and you have the rat to deal with

Believe me when I say that I’m sincerely sorry for not rewarding your wonderful roleplay. Unfortunately, as you all know, I’m bonded by PFS rules to run the module as written, but if I knew before that you were such an amazing group of players, I would have changed this campaign to be a homebrew allowing you to use downtime rules to run the inn and reward your brilliant ideas.
Appreciated! No worries, the shenanigans will just continue on in our character's heads then ;)
Also, could you add a link to the map into your tagline or the thread header?
Dolgarth |
Yeah, it's not a problem. I know there are one or two more taverns in the planned scenarios; maybe after our unsuccessful attempt to acquire the Thunder Bucket, our spirits will be stirred afresh at another opportunity.

Don't sweat it. If nothing else, it can be a flavor thing. and I'm always happy to run with fun flavor (even if it doesn't necessarily change an encounter).
Whether or not we get o actually pick up the Thunder Bucket officially, it's totally a part of our collective story as we move forward. :D
Nebraska Jones |
It was my intention to move to where the red rat is now, instead I don't think I moved at all?
Edit:I see! Player detail error! "Left 5" and went 5ft instead of 5 squares. Damn.
GM Giuseppe |
Heads up, Giuseppe, it’s Jakwin, not Jawkin.
Thanks for the heads up! ;)

No problem on my part as well! I think we're all doing it for the fun, anyhow. Also taking the moment to say I'm very much enjoying playing with all of you (GM and players) =).
That said, n00b question moment: I sort of get the idea around PFS, but what are the benefits of it? So far most of it has either been neutral (e.g. factions, which are a nice way of adding some flavour, but don't seem to be intrinsically connected to organised play) or negative, limiting what we can do in both minor (e.g. not being able to buy our mule together) and relatively major ways (e.g. the GM being restricted in how he can reply to our shenanigans).
Nebraska Jones |
The main benefit I've found is being able to jump into a game anywhere. When I travel for work it's not hard to find a table in a nearby city one of the nights.
Personally, player wealth is increased in comparison with my past 3.5 escapades. With the cap at lvl 12, baring some scenarios, they kind of addressed the unbalanced higher levels thing by avoiding it too.
So mainly modularity and focusing on the part of the system that works best, cranking up the juice a little so you can get wild with your character ideas.
An example, a guy I play with has a lvl 3 ratfolk so called "pimp" that has 14 diplomacy dispite 7 CHA, all due to auxiliary things.
Aldus the Supplicant |
@Nebraska: Ok, I guess I see it. It's basically a set of base rules to ensure the GM that there's nothing funny going on with your character, and to ensure the player that the GM is being relatively fair.
Also, sorry, I must've phrased it wrong: I'm aware of the benefits of Pathfinder over 3.5, it's the organised play bits that are completely new to me.
Thanks for the the explanation!
Fiametta the Kantarian |
PFS retraining rules are that as long as you haven't played a game at level 2, you can change just about anything you want between sessions. So you're stuck with Arcane Strike until Part 2, but then there's no problem changing it.
Aldus the Supplicant |
Thanks, Fiametta. Shouldn't be too bad, then. Who knows, we might actually meet an enemy who'll make arcane strike an amazing choice for this scenario.
GM Giuseppe |
Happy holidays everyone! We'll stop our game for the next two days, resuming on December the 26th
Fiametta the Kantarian |
FYI, I'm back from the holidays -- unexpectedly without internet for the last bit. I'll resume posting this evening.
