“I think I’ve come to terms with it. I won’t survive, but at least I’ve explored strange worlds and seen wonders I would never have dreamed of as a child. I guess everything comes to an end eventually. I’ve always been the master of my own fate, and I’m not going to change now.” Captain Nash holds up a pistol. “When my force field goes down, I’ll fight. But I’m saving my last charge for myself. My life, my death. “This is my last will and testament. To whoever finds this recording, I leave the Sunrise Maiden to you. It’s a good ship, and no matter where I’ve gone, it’s always brought me home... until now. If you treat it right, it’ll do the same for you. Leave my body where you found it—we came from the stars, and to the stars I’ll return—but the Maiden deserves to keep flying.” Nash takes a deep breath and ends the recording.

How the heck do we even invest in the ship? Like, do we work on it ALA Han and Chewie?

Foxy Quickpaw |

You use the swiss army knife, the tinfoil from your last chewing gum and the part of a ballpen to fit in a new power core you buy. Or something like that.
You're level 7, so you should have a tier 7 ship worth 180 Build Points. I didn't check how many build points were used for your tier 3 ship, but the difference should leave some room for improvements. I have no clue how to build in that ship's level up in RP though. But spaceship stuff seems to have no credit equivalent. Maybe the ship is alive and evolves? "Look, our ships computer morphed and it grew an bigger set of cannons!"

Boreal Typhon |

Haha
Maybe we convince the Starfinders that as we have gotten involved in a rather serious situation that we need an upgrade to our ship?
I am going to use This to see what I can work out.
It actually has a template for the Sunrise Maiden. 95 build points.
Going to fiddle about now.

EDIT
I cant get the backing up thing to work on that which is irksome

I wonder how that credstick stuff works. Is that like a digital wallet, where you take out the right amount? It's like handing over your wallet and let the shopkeep take it out?!?
By my Shadowrun-biased understanding, you hold up your credstick (which I've always assumed looked like a small flashlight) and authorize the amount and direction of the transaction, and the other person does the same.
Whether the credsticks then touch or not I've never understood, but I think they do, like fancy phones exchanging numbers nowadays.
Oh also, my master plan has finally come to fruition and I've found time enough to level to 7.
Except for not spending my skill points, and if someone tells me to I'm lighting my computer on fire and making 'smores.(srsly, I hate <blank>Finder for skill points. I just don't have the time to deal it out with an eyedropper to a billion skills, updating totals and keeping track of how many I spent. 5E rules for what they did.)

Ok, we're playing this game for a while already, so you might have noticed a pattern in the encounters. Everytime you change locations - if it isn't an additional trip based on your own whims - there is spaceship combat. Therefore I'd like to have the ship update done before I throw you into the next encounter. Or you can say, you don't care and want to do that fight with a CR3 Maiden.

Okay, the ship looks good.
Now, I'm not gonna die on this hill, but do we really need Luxurious quarters and escape pods?
(My feeling on escape pods is that if the ship is gonna blow up, it's all but a TPK anyway, and I'd rather have those points in use. ALSO! Of note 1 BP only gets us 1 escape pod, that can only be used by one person. Since an investment in enough escape pods (or life boats) for all of us is waaaay too much to spend, we could instead use those points to upgrade the defensive countermeasures, or get a bigger gun.)

Also! Shopping!
Estex suit III: 7 5,500 E: +7 K: +8 Dx: +5 –1 Mods: 4
With!
Force field, purple ,
Deflective reinforcement
Thermal capacitor, mk 1
Also!
Dermal plating, mk 1
(From the text of Dermal plating, it appears that a lower DR sort of stacks with a greater DR by adding one to it.)

Awesome work, Boreal (I don't know what has changed but expect whatever it was took a lot of work).
Can we assign ship combat rolls? Maxim is qualified for the Engineer only, and would be disastrous at any other role. I'm guessing nobody else is going to want to do that really boring set of tasks anyway.

Fun fact: Your Gunnery check can go off your BAB -or- your ranks in Piloting. Hence, I'm now slightly better at shooting guns than Boreal. ^_^
Fun Fact #2!: Also, that might make me the best pilot, making me the (mostly useless) pilot. -.-

EH-RK |

Eric has a +19 to his piloting check.

I'm seeing three main points that, if we could find a way to get over them, would make this fairly do-able.
1) Get us to them quickly. Just floating in space, or using a personal jetpack might not be able to cover the large spaces that usually separate two ships.
2) Get us not killed enroute.
3) Find some way to cut through the hull.
My initial ideas are focusing around the Shuttle--the Small ship, that would fit inside a Shuttle Bay. One could see Boreal and Imagine flying that thing over, one piloting, the other shooting, until it could bite onto an enemy ship's hull.

I literally finished Dirk Gently's holistic detective agency today :P
I may actually have been watching the last episode when that post was posted.
Also have not been quite sure how to interject myself into the current goingson

Maxim Petrovich |

I re-read the first Dirk Gently book every couple years. My all-time favorite book! On a related note, I hope I am channeling Zaphod Beeblebrox to anyone's satisfaction.

I'm pretty sure that's the plan that I had called for, but Maxim seemed hell-bent on asking the Starfinder to be sure?
Anyone else wanna weigh in? I don't think Maxim will mind getting Rule-of-Two'd into this.

EH-RK |

Yeah, Eric looked for more info too, but outside of just flying to where we think we need to go, we don't have much else to work on.

Foxy Quickpaw |

You got the enemy ship in the sector behind you at a distance of 12 hexes. How fast is the maiden? Probably not fast enough to flip and get behind the other.
Are the weapons aligned the right way to get maximum firepower towards them? Or do you make some corrections there too?
Placed to arrows on the space map.

![]() |

Buncha stuff.
1) I'd be in favor of us getting a Coilgun in the turret. That would give us a Long range weapon in our best slot. (Also, it's the same PCU and actually cheaper in BP for about the same damage.)
2) We don't have any long range weapons now, and right now we're at 12 hexes range. Reminder: Short is 5, Medium 10, long 20.
3) We're not that fast, but we may still be able to outrun them.
4) If we try to outrun them and they have any missile launchers we're fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

@Imagine
I don't get your spell selection:
0 (6):
Daze
Detect Magic
Psycho! Hand
Grave Words
Telepathic Message
Stablize
That's 6, ok
Level 1 (5)
(Lesser Confusion)
Summon Creature 1
Identify
Mind Thrust 1 [2d10, will sv for half]
Mystic Cure d8+ wis
That's 5, if the braces are only decoration. But Mystic Cure and Mind Thrust, you'd get for free as you have it at a higher level. Which allows you to replace it here.
Level 2 (4)
[inflict pain]
Mystic Cure 2 3d8 +wis
Hold Person
Summon Creature 2
Mind Thrust 2: 4d10
That's 5. What are the [] for?
Level 3 (2)
(Mind Thrust 3) 7d10 will for half
Mystic Cure 2 5d8 +wis
Summon Creature 3
That's 3. That's too many. Or is () your wish list?
While you're looking at it, may I suggest you put in a Share Language into that selection somewhere? As it looks like you have free slots in level 1. This part of the adventure will be really weak on the non combat part, with no one able to talk to the kish.

EH-RK |

I think Mind Thrust scales with levels....IE once you have it at lvl 1 you also have it at lvl 2, 3, etc. Same thing with Mystic Cure

...aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand I'm back.
Yeah, sorry, new job. And I've seen that new job's are 89% lethal to posting rates. XD
Also! I don't know or care how much more we have here, but I'm determined to swap out Imagine for my Armor Storm soldier.
I don't care that he'll be redundant with Boreal for rolls, but I just can't stand the Starfinder magic system. It's too weak and with too few spells. The Nerf is strong with this one.
Also, I just don't have time or power to keep Imagine's spiciness up, but some low-power brute all but writes himself!
