Glad to be here! Thanks for the invite. I'm looking forward to a very fun and long game.
So I'll start us off with the telepathy questions:
-------------
How does Limited Telepathy work?
So I am running into a few situations. How does Limited Telepathy work for these:
Set the scene: Group of 10 people. 2 Shirrens, 2 Lashuntas, and 6 mixed races. All in a small circle.
1. Shirren #1 wants to talk to Shirren #2. Does anyone else hear? They can talk back and forth telepathically.
2. Shirren #1 wants to talk to Human #1. Can the Human telepathically talk back? Or do they need talk out loud?
3. Shirren #1 wants to talk to Lashuntas #1 and Human #1. Can he direct the communication to just 2 individuals? Can they both hear? (along with question 2) can they talk back? Do they hear each other? I assume if the human can communicate back it would only be to Shirren #1, Lashuntas #1 would not hear.
4. Shirren #1 wants to talk to the whole group. Can he send a message to the whole group, similar to saying something out loud that the group can hear?
The language of the ability is a bit open for interprotation.
Quote:
Shirrens can communicate telepathically with any creatures within 30 feet with whom they share a language. Conversing telepathically with multiple creatures simultaneously is just as difficult as listening to multiple people speak.
The words that trip me up are:
Communicate: Does this mean 1 way or 2 way communication?
Any: It does not say 'all' creatures. In programming any means 1 or more. So the idea of talking to 1, 2 out of 10, or all 10 would all be valid.
I get the idea of parallel communication being difficult, I am just thinking about a Shirren in a group talking. I assume a Shirren can speak out loud if needed, but much prefers using its Telepathy.
Thoughts?

I am fully functional Madame. Currently my biometrics are running at peak efficiency. Heat loss due to processor capabilities are minimal. If you wish, I could provide a readout of my current biologic performance specifications.

You can mentally communicate with any other creature within
100 feet that has a language. It is possible to address multiple
creatures at once telepathically, although maintaining a
telepathic conversation with more than one creature at a time
is just as difficult as speaking and listening to multiple people
simultaneously. You can’t use telepathy to locate creatures to
communicate with them, but once you’ve established telepathic
communication, you don’t require line of effect to maintain it.
That's the telepathy spell. It is pretty clear about all that and as there are no better descriptions we go with that.

Lolo Aeolo |

Had to change my name, Lolo was already taken. Here's Aolo, with placeholder avatar (at least until more ratfolk are added).

Foxy Quickpaw |

From your description I conclude that you chose the tiny flying drone? I was looking at that too. I was imagining something the size of a large dragonfly. But the book tells size tiny which is actually flying cat size.
I didn't see something in the book so far, but does a drone need charging? Same for androids?

Foxy Quickpaw |

Depends on the purpose you're using it for.
I was trying to go for a tiny sneaky drone, but the size and the noise the flying produces won't allow that for indoor use. So I went with stealth drone.
Flying from level one is a powerful option. I'm curious to find out how well this goes. Any clue about flying and damage in combat? As there is no fly skill there will be no fly rolls when taking damage I guess.

Fighting Chicken |

Yeah, I was sad to see that stealth and flying don't mix. I envision T-140 being a loud scout, ranged combatant, and skill monkey in the long run, but depending on how things shape up, we may have different needs.
I *think* there is no fly rolls, because the drone is already pretty fragile to start, but if you want to add that, I'm game. I'd think the best way to handle it is to give the drone free ranks in the fly skill and maybe a "racial" bonus?

Who's gonna be our face?
It can be me, if you want.
I can do it as well.
12 CHA, +5 diplomacy, and a smile should get us somewhere. :)

Soryn - lashunta mystic |

Foxy I think is looking at taking a 6th. I believe the two remaining options are both cha based classes
That's fine but Soryn will still be 'a voice of reason'... :)
The lashunta's antenna quivered as the vesk soldier finished off the poor sod that dared attack them, "Must you really just kill everyone we come across?"
He knelt down and closed the human's eyes while whispering a prayer, "You do know he could have been a misguided soul just trying to provide for his family right? It is just luck that we do not find ourselves in a similar situation."

Lolo Aeolo |

Slowly updating this alias. There's a link to Mythweavers sheets for Lolo and T-140 in her stat line. I'll transfer stats over here when done. I've still got feats, equipment, and languages to figure out, as well as drone feat and mod.

Foxy Quickpaw |

I *think* there is no fly rolls, ...
I found it. Fly is now part of Acrobatics, but they dumped all of the roll for damage stuff. You should read it anyway (page 135) and the chapter about flying on page 259 as it details how far your fly speed moves you in the different directions, what turning, raising, and flying loopings costs and what the rolls are.
As for the drone, are you going utility or combat with the feat?

I think J4RH34D is right.
Also you seem to be eager to start. I won't start the actual adventure yet. That happens when the shuttle docks at the station and you get out.
But the shuttle in Gameplay is underway.
Each of you got a message on their com device.
Dear <your name here>
We confirm the meeting on <have to look up the time system>.
You will be met by Starfinder Agent Duravor Kreel at the dock where your shuttle arrives.
We are looking forward to meet you.
Starfinder Society
You are sitting in the passenger area of the shuttle. It has two rows of seats one at the left and one at the right wall of the shuttle. The rows face each other. None of you would know that you are not the only one awaited by the dwarf, but if someone is talkactive you might find out.
Have fun.

"I found out who she really is. She's ..." the small ysoki tries to tell before he coughs up blood and falls on his face - hit by another bullet from Allison.
Just looked something up for another game and found where your avatar is from. QUEEN ABROGAIL II of the Thrice Damned House of Thrune - form Cheliax :)

Soryn - lashunta mystic |

I have a plugin in chrome that notifies me when any of my games update.
I also run one on my android that does the same. You can set them to check the thread every so often so you do not have to
I'll have to look into that.
I normally sit in front of a computer all day (when I'm not out in the field) so I can check my homepage every so often.

Nice. I am taking a break during my 3rd year chemical engineering course
Very nice! There's plenty of work for a chemical engineer out there.

GM: I hope you don't mind people posting too much. I know some GMs don't like that because they say it hinders other players from posting.
In my experience in PBPs, more posts and more enthusiasm is always better.
However, I'll tone this down and comply to your wishes (it's your game after all).
I just find these conversations very useful, especially at the beginning, to start figuring out what the PC is really like and start getting him 'right' in my mind.
Just let me know.
PS: I want an avatar! :)

OK, awesome! I like what they're doing with skills in SF, consolidating some of the lesser/more niche skills into others. I missed fly/acrobatics on my first scan-through, so I'll be checking that out today (as well as flying on p 259)
I'm probably going utility with the drone. It seems like a hover drone could use at least 4 skills (acrobatics, perception, and at least two of engineering, computers, stealth) to be a good utility/scout droid, which will be a significant investment, so might as well get started early!
Question:
Your custom rig can be configured to take up an upgrade slot on your armor or can be installed as a cybernetic augmentation system in your brain (though it can be combined with a datajack for the same price as installing a datajack normally), your eyes, or an arm. For more information on augmentations, see Equipment. Alternatively, you can configure it to be a handheld device, meaning that you must retrieve it and hold it to use it effectively.
I'm interested in installing the custom rig as an augmentation or in an armor slot. I understand that using it with a datajack means I pay for the datajack, but I can't find anything related to the cost, if any, of custom rig cybernetic augmentation. Is this free? I'm thinking it is, but I'm not 100% convinced that I'm right.

I am curious as to why everyone posts in the past tense?
I see this more as an on-going story and always my players to post in past tense.
I also do 'turn recaps' for my games so the chapter like aspect is reinforced there. See any of the games I GM if you don't know what that is as it's not exactly popular.
I can post in present tense if it's a problem. A past tense may slip in here and there but it should be OK. :)
What did you mean by 'Who is around'?

Boreal Typhon |

Almost every response I have here I am concerned will likely devolve into open conflict.
"Vesk society tends to be efficient, respectful, and law-abiding—especially since nearly any insult or violation of custom could trigger a brutally
violent blood debt."
"Vesk names are often long and combine elements of their parents’ names, as well as those of other prominent ancestors.
These are frequently shortened for daily use by friends, though abridging a vesk’s name without permission is a grave insult"
PG 53 of the crb.

Sometimes it's good to keep in mind that adventurers--people who leave their homes and communities for nothing but a promise of delving into the unknown--are often, if not outright outcasts, then they are certainly not of the norm of their society. (Otherwise the Starfinder Society wouldn't need to ask for volunteers, they'd just have entire populations lining up at their door. =)
Much in the same way that the first Europeans who settled in the newly found Americas were not of the "normal" feudalistic type, nor the people who settled the territories on the Western frontier were the kind to scoff at change and embrace the settled and well known, many of those people had to adapt to new lifestyles and "moderate" any hard-lines that may have been simply accepted by the folk back home.
Or you can tell a rocketjock named "Wraith" that she needs to live her life according to your personal standards and see how well that goes. =-]

Boreal Typhon |

I was thinking of suggesting that you actually see if getting out and pushing does help...
The problem is that take doesn't really fit all that well with the Vesk. Vesk society is basically built around leaving, fighting epic battles, and then coming back.
"Vesk adventuring with races from other systems fall into two
categories. The first are mercenaries or glory-seekers looking
for a chance to engage in honorable combat and build up their
prestige"
"Vesk society is highly organized and militaristic. While
merchants and others with peaceful professions can advance
economically, political power is the exclusive domain of those
who’ve proven themselves in armed conflict. Surprisingly, this
proof doesn’t need to come through military service, or even
benefit the Veskarium. Many vesk attain similar elevation in
social status through performing mercenary work, engaging in
dueling, or providing security on exploration missions."
I am trying to find a moderating line without compromising too much on the concept I have for the character's personality

Seems like as long as you stick with Rule #1 you should be fine.

Datajack, standard lvl 2 credits:625 Brain (page 209)
This cybernetic includes a programmable data port that
allows you to access different types of computers and digital
storage media. Any handheld computer can be inserted
directly into the port, while larger systems need to be
connected by an adapter cable. Having the system connected
directly to your nervous system obviates the need for an
interface to access data on a system. Actually operating the
system requires you to use the Computers skill as usual.
Some closed systems don’t allow data access or require you
to do some rewiring to connect with a datajack (usually an
Engineering check).
