As long as the maps are consistent one way or another I think we should be fine.

In personal news, I finally got my new laptop! I had forgotten how good life could be when every click or opened tab doesn't take a solid 3-6 seconds to resolve!

Ok. I've changed things slightly to Squint's level up abilities to be more in line with Squint's character needs since the party will be able to speak/understand Thassilonian with the use of the Shard. Squint will take Celestial as his new language.

I'm going to figure out what Squint wants to buy with his gold apart from the potion of invisibility from the quartermaster. GM, did you say we get a 10% discount on items purchased through the Society?

I'll have some things figured out today. Cheers.

Shattered Star Maps

No, there is no discount.

The benefit is that you don't have to go searching for whatever you want, and don't have to worry about vendors marking the goods up.

You have to follow normal PFS purchasing rules for purchasing from your factions.

BTW Paeral spoke Thassilonian already, so you had some in the group even before the shard.

Well if we want to go the route of infiltrating a higher-level door to the Crow I'm willing to use a bunch of my share on scrolls or potions of Spider Climb, Knock, Invisibility etc. If we don't like that idea I'll get a Cloak of Resistance instead.

Shattered Star Maps

Note that a Cloak of Resistance would be outside of the "Always Available" items, and 4 fame allows you a purchase level of 0gp from your faction.

If you want to buy one, you'll have to find a magic shop in town.

@Celia It came as a surprise to me, but Heal actually can't diagnose a disease. I think that I will allow it, but only after actual symptoms manifest (not my flavor based symptoms).

The Diagnose Disease spell (only 1st level, and thus only costing 10gp) can, though.

If you still want to go home, we can role play that. :)

@Reillana 1: Are you spending 1 PP for the service or do you want to pay 150 gp. Did you want to find someone to cast it at a higher level or at the base level of 5?

@Reillana 2: FYI A journal costs only 10gp

@Reillana 3: The quartermaster will not release those items to you as they are reserved for more experienced agents. Where in Magnimar would you like to start looking for a magic shop?

So we're good enough to risk life & limb on the Society's behalf, not not yet good enough to warrant doing business with? My opinion of the Pathfinders keeps getting reinforced. :-/

I'll spend the 150, 5th level caster is fine

The Magnimar splatbook doesn't really describe any dedicated magic shops, but I'm sure something can be found. Let's start with local neighborhood because I'm sure rich people would like to remain eternally in fashion and also deliver messages.

LOL. That is how I am interpreting the Fame system, anyways. I am going to start adding your level to your Fame total for the future (though you'll still end up buying most things that aren't always available from town, I imagine).

Go ahead and make a Gameplay post with a Diplomacy (Gather Information) roll.

GM I intend to sell my gladius and shortbow and tanglefoot bag for 47.5gp and buy a MW composite longbow (+2 str rating) (600g.p...leaving Celia with 1 platinum piece, 3 silver pieces, 3 cooper pieces ...

Also I'm looking for permission to re-arrange my attributes now rather than upon leveling up. (i'm not asking to change my feat just yet or even add the skill point that re-arranging my attributes will accommodate... any boons of re-arrangement I'll wait for till 2nd lv.)

However, since the re-arrangements of my attributes at the next level would involve me lowering my dex (and my wisdom by 1 point appease) it does mean I'll have reaped the benefits of a 16 dex..all the way through 1st level instead of '15' which is where I need to lower it to to accommodate the 13 intelligence score I need this character's attributes to be in order to accommodate the character I envision..

I want Celia to be a clever 2 handed fighting Paladin..who is full of honor...a female version of Ser Arthur from 'Game of Thrones' if you will. A couple of the feats I want require a min intelligence of 13...so I'll be changing coarse just a bit and taking 2 more levels of loreseeker fighter before switching to Paladin...

I just don't want to reap any benefits from the change while not minding a bit that I won't get to use any of the benefits until I level.

Right now Celia's stat array looks like:
Str. 14
Dex. 16
Con. 12
Int.10
Wis. 13
Chr. 14
She has 5 skill ranks and the following feats..Nimble Moves, Two weapon fighting, and Blind fight..

I'd like to change her stat array to:
Str. 14
Dex.15
Con. 12
Int. 13
Wis. 12
Chr. 14

I'll eventually switch out blind fight for two weapon defense(or quick draw currently torn between 2 ) and add a rank of knowledge religion but only at 2nd (with GMs permission)

Any please let me know

As for playing out the home visit...perhaps I'll just show back up in the morning...ready to travel having spent the night with my family...I can reveal more details of my family and our relationship throughout the scope of the adventure..

The important thing to gather is though Celia's mother is not a member of Shelyn's Clergy...she is never-the-less a devote follower of the faith...and that has a big influence on Celia's choices in the past, present, and future...

On magic shops in Magnimar: When the PCs in my Runelords home game first went to Magnimar during Book 2, they went shopping in the Sails dockside market. They bought their wands, rods, and staffs from a little kiosk called "Sticks," run by a man with an outrageous Russian accent who insisted that all of his metamagic rods were “greater” metamagic rods. So, for example, he sold the wizard a “Greater Lesser Piercing Metamagic Rod.”

He also sold nonmagical quarterstaffs, tindertwigs, and everburning torches.

Can Squint sell an item of his own without the Society skimming 10% off the top if he sells it to someone outside of the Society?

Squint would like to see his noble's outfit (retail: 75gp) in order to make up the difference for his desired mithral shirt. At 50% return, that'd be sufficient (along with selling my lamellar cuirass - retail 15gp) to make up the ~40gp he needs. If the Society skims off of the top, my margins are a lot tighter.

Noble's outfit at 50% return: 37.5gp
Lamellar cuirass at 50% return: 7.5gp
Total: 45gp (yay!)

Noble's outfit at 40% return: 30gp
Lamellar cuirass at 40% return: 6gp
Total: 36gp (grrrrr....)

See? It'll impact my roleplay of the issue as well....

Shattered Star Maps

Technically, since I allowed you a PFS style rebuild, you can just pretend that you never bought them and recoup 100% of the cost.

Except the Noble's Outfit came from a trait, I think.

I will also allow you to sell them for the full 50%

Celia Hillore wrote:
But, if the plot line demands this all happened as soon as we returned..um..OK nevermind...I just didn't seem to get that gist of urgency.

This is not a plot line requirement at all.

However, timeline:
You returned to the Manor mid-afternoon the day of the assault.

There was a very hasty debrief, interrupted by discovery of the shard.

That evening, Barkot and Lady Heidmarch did research, everyone was healed, and you got a fresh night's sleep.
Lady Heidmarch gave you rooms in the Manor House. If you chose to return to your mother's home in Underbridge, that is up to you.

The following morning (early) you all returned to the Manor House for the full debrief / brief. That would have taken a couple of hours. Call it late morning.

Immediately following the brief was a reception. Call it early afternoon when that ended.

Most of you conducted your buying and selling with the quartermaster (including Celia), which would be very fast.

Reillana is the only one so far who requested spending time with the healer and searching for additional magical supplies. Her tasks take only a few hours (due to a good Gather Information roll).

Assuming everyone is done with buying/selling (and it seems that it is, once Reillana completes her RP), it is now early evening.

The benefits to doing business in the Lodge is that everything is available with limited delays. If you guys insist on doing everything outside of the Lodge, then yes, every task is going to slow down to possibly days.

The party has not yet planned what they want to do regarding The Crow, but they need to meet to talk about it.

If Celia isn't coming back to the manor for several days, well, I imagine the party is going to make their plans without her.

Shattered Star Maps

I am not forcing you guys to go to the Crow tonight / next day / whenever.

I AM forcing you to meet and plan it out.

If you guys tell me you want a couple of days of downtime, that's fine. I'll figure out what happens in those days and we'll move forward.

Sorry, Squint - I had suggested we divide the loot into six shares instead of five, but didn’t get any responses. The only “party funds” on the spreadsheet represent the value of the healing potions we found. I still think it’s a good idea to put money aside, but I think it needs to wait for the next big cashing out.

No worries about the lack of a party fund. Like I said, I have a plan.

I need to go outside of the Society to sell my noble outfit. I need to go outside of the noble sectors of the city to do it. I need time to haggle and formulate my plan. I think the proposed timeline is too restrictive, GM. It feels rushed.

I think we should have the whole day after the debrief and reception (itself a long day for people like Squint and Barkot who aren't 'people' people) to handle our personal chores. We can return to Heidmarch Manor on the evening of that second day, plan, and then leave the next morning.

Besides, Squint isn't feeling quite right.

Squint sold his noble's outfit for 50% - 37gp, 5sp. He also sold the morningstar that he picked up during the combat outside the sewer house for the 40% Society rate because it was loot from the adventure.

That brought his funds just high enough to purchase the mithral chain shirt.

I inferred from your timeline, GM, that we would do the formal debrief and have the reception in the morning and early afternoon, and then shop and take care of all of our personal business in the late afternoon - all on the same day.

That's too rushed.

Shattered Star Maps

Got it.

In your timeline, Day 0 == Capture of Natalya, Day 1 == Debrief, Day 2 == Prep.

I have no issues with that. The planning should happen on Day 1, though. (You have to plan before shopping, otherwise how do you know what to buy?)

If you guys want to say that the planning didn't occur until the evening of Day 1, that's fine.

Once you guys have a plan, I'll indicate if anything happened during Night 1.

I am sorry if it seems I am injecting myself into the game too much. I simply need to know the timeline. If you guys want more realism to your downtime, you can have it.

Sure, there are maps in the library.

Slide 3 contains a map of Magnimar as a whole. Dockway is the area basically on both sides of the bridge. It ends close to where the Puffy Pelican label is.

You can see the pilings. If memory serves, The Crow is one of the three pilings on the right-hand side of the bridge.

Just so that everyone is aware: I will be away from tomorrow through until Dec 27th. I won't have easy access to the Internet, and I won't be posting regularly (if at all) to the forums.

Happy the Holidays!
