Just a reminder: when the site is wonky, please check in on the Discord server. Brunoreturns and I had this exchange this morning:

Discord wrote:

Backalley Barkot: Looks like the website is having issues again - it was up and down for me all evening on Tuesday, now it’s down again this morning.

GM Brunoreturns: Looks that way. Feel free to attempt discussing your next steps here.

BB: The last post I saw was Celia’s, and it looked like she was jumping straight to Heidmarch Manor - did anyone post after her? I think we’ve got a handful of logistical issues to deal with first (although if you want to handwave them, I would be FINE with that):
- Hauling the loot
- Dealing with 6-8 unconscious Tower Girls (including 2 wererat spellcasters).
- All complicated by the need to travel back to shore by boat.
Am I missing anything?
It feels like the old logic puzzle about the farmer who has to get across the river with the bag of grain, the chicken, and the dog, with a rowboat that will only carry the farmer and one of those things at a time.

GM BR: We need to go through the logistics. I also have some plans for the trip back to the manor, so jumping ahead is not ok.
I hadn't noticed celias post.

BB: That makes sense. And Celia may just have been planning ahead - the post was in the gameplay thread but I don't think there was any in-character dialogue.

Forgot to mention one other logistical problem : to go back the way we came in, we have to swing across that big gap on a rope.

If we deal with the spiders, could we maneuver the rowboat to the spot where they were getting in/out? Might be easier to move loot and prisoners that way.

Wouldn't we have to swim through the pipes? I think we can get to the dock through the illusory wall - even if there’s a drop, Barkot has the ring of feather fall, so he can carry up to his max encumbrance down one jump at a time, and the rest of you could pull him back up. Of course, if the escaping TGs cut loose all the boats, this may be academic.

Do we think the spiders get in an out through the pipes? While dragging a fisherman or dolphin? I'll go back and reread that section since that seems unlikely to me...

EDIT: yeah we should definitely check on our boat first

A question for the GM, before Barkot grabs someone and jumps off a cliff (which is absolutely his plan, and he will definitely not remember to warn them about the jump or remind them of his ring):

A ring of feather falling is caster level 1, which means the spell effect has a duration of 1 round (or until you land, but the text of the spell description is pretty clear that the duration is whichever is shorter). However, the ring's description also says that it is activated whenever the wearer falls more than 5 feet, with no limits on uses per day or anything like that. So I think what would happen with a 150' drop is that Barkot would fall slowly for the first 60 feet, speed up for 5 feet, fall slowly for another 60', then speed up for 5', then fall slowly (in round 3) for the final 20 feet to the ground. Does that sound right?

I think that's the way the ring works...but, since we're heading back any way, why not just go back the way we came? Could be wrong, but I doubt the boat drifts much more in the time it takes us to get back to the docks...

Because that’s no fun at all? Also, how are we supposed to swing across the big gap hauling all of the gear and unconscious bodies?

Based on the water level in the cistern, you guys know that level was 10 feet above sea level.

Opening the siccatite door any time within the next couple of hours is going to release a swarm of bats into the upper complex. They are hungry and angry at being woken up (and are apparently a blood drinking variety -- they must be much more common on Golarion).

@Barkot The ring will safely take you down to the docks.

Thankfully no! But I have tried to drag heavy stuff through a pipe and it sucks. I guess if it was that or starve I would manage though.

If there wasn't an exit that's fine, it's more my forgetfulness than Reillana's.

The cistern that the rat traveled through was 35ft across (check slide 5 again), so not exactly a "pipe". The pipes came down from the ceiling and emptied into the cistern.

Shattered Star Maps

At this point, if you guys don't want to explore anything else in the upper complex, just let me know where you are leaving the unconscious tower girls.

Since you are heading back to town, I'll let you load one of the stacks of loot into sacks and crates to carry with you.

If you want to try to carry all of the loot, I'll need a creative solution for how you are going to get it through the city (and two boat trips).

If you are also going to cart all of the tower girls to shore, that is going to take several more boat trips (perhaps Lady H. can send some agents to clear out the "prisoners"?)

There is also the matter of the rope dangling down to the docks that appears to be emerging straight from a solid rock wall 50 feet up.

Sorry for any confusion, Squint - I posted my note about Ulyi’s comment making me laugh in the discussion thread so as not to derail Gameplay.

BOOKKEEPING TIME:

Hear ye, hear ye, gather round, people. I have gone through the Loot List. I have divided the Loot into to three categories for your consideration. Numbers are approximate until I take a second pass tomorrow.

- Green: items with a high value or high utility. Total sale price, 2,434.27 gp*; total weight, 115.02 lbs. Value includes items claimed by party members (so that shares can be accounted for correctly), but weight does not (because presumably you all have added the items you picked up to your character sheets already).

- Yellow: items with lower value but might be used by unattended prisoners to escape, such as climber’s kits, thieves tools, rope, etc. Total sale price, 610.65 gp; total weight, 129 lbs.

- No color fill (alternating light blue): mundane items of limited utility (short swords, leather armor, etc.). I didn’t bother to total these up tonight; we can take care of it when we sweep up after we come back. If you want something, please make a note in column M of the tab 1 (“Loot Found”) and under your character’s name on tab 2 (“Loot Split”).

* If a character who can cast Detect Magic would please identify the magic bladed scarf, we would have a better sense of the real value of what we’ve found.

Finally, PLEASE CHECK THE SPREADSHEET TO CONFIRM YOU WANT THE ITEMS I THINK YOU CLAIMED (the items in your column are easiest to see on the second tab of the spreadsheet, “Loot Sheet”). Squint, I assume if you want something, you claimed it; Ulyi is carrying items for convenience, not to keep?

Loot sheet is updated with the value of the +1 bladed scarf and a couple of other corrections, for a total sale value of 3703.65 3898 GP (assuming the 45% sale value through the PFS quartermaster). If we assign a full share to party resources, then we each get a little over 617 649 GP, less the value of the gear we've claimed (only Paëral has claimed anything of real value, the masterwork short sword, but I think Squint's tanglefoot bag habit may end up driving him into bankruptcy in the end!). Full list on tab 1, individual accounting on tab 2, party shopping list on tab 3.

Edited because I forgot to include the stuff Barkot and Paëral found in Ayala's bedroom.

Once the party has reassembled, I propose we take the items claimed (marked purple) and the higher value items (marked green) and leave the prisoners at The Crow, unconscious and tied up for Lady Heidmarch have retrieved as the GM suggested. We can make our reports, sell the gear we don't want to keep, do our shopping, and - most importantly - Celia can level up (8 months playing at level 1 should earn Justin a medal). The prisoners will officially be Not Our Problem.

Some of you may have different preferences. We can role-play out the decision-making as much as people want, but to speed up the discussion, I created a short poll. It lays out what I think the options are, but each question has an option for "Other" so you can add whatever you think I missed. I'll report the results here on the Discussion thread by Sunday evening, or sooner if everyone responds before then.

Shall we add items and loot value to character sheets now, GM? Or is there adventure to be had in getting back to Magnimar?

I also have a masterwork hand crossbow listed on my character sheet and a second story harness and regular thieves tools listed on Ulyi's sheet. I don't see that in the loot sheet. Did I make it up? Does that count against my gold?

Added the mwk hand crossbow, second story hardness, and thieves' tools to Squint's column in Tab 2 (which subtracts the sale value from his share). Let me know if there are changes.

Loading up Ulyi will solve most of the encumbrance problem - between what Ulyi can haul, what Barkot can carry at heavy encumbrance (about another 75 lbs), I think we can carry all the gear marked in yellow on top of the green and purple items (total weight, 240 lbs), even without unduly weighing down Paëral and Celia so they can guard us trudging back to Heidmarch Manor.

Hauling back all of the gear is probably impossible without advance arrangement for a horse cart - because of all the armor and other heavy items, the total weight of all the loot & gear we've collected so far (after subtracting the items the PCs have claimed and the items taken by the escaped prisoners), we've got more than 760 lbs of items to move from the Crow into the city. We should bring it all back eventually, but I don't think there's any realistic way to do it now.

Reillana - I checked now that I’m really awake (not sure why I felt the need to check my PbP games when I woke up for a few minutes at 2:00am, but whatever) and I had you down for a standard hand crossbow, not masterwork. Here's the summary of the results

Here are the individual responses, question by question. This sheet provides the complete "other" response from one player to the question about what to do with the wererats that is cut off in the summary. I don't know whose answer this is, but the player makes some good arguments in favor of a tough position.

I need to go to a reception for a conference we’re hosting, but I’ll be back online later this evening.

Shattered Star Maps

OK. Sounds like all of the "prisoners" are being left in the Crow.

You mentioned tying them up, which probably means you will need to remove some rope from your inventory. Let's say one coil of rope in addition to the one that Celia cut up earlier.

You are taking what loot you can carry under heavy load, I think. What are you doing with the remainder?

We'll say that one way or another you get the prisoners to one of the rooms near the dock and leave them there.

By the time you get back to the docks it will be late afternoon.

Reillana will lobby hard for killing the wererats. She'll raise it with the party, but unless anyone is violently opposed to the idea she'll do it herself before they can awaken.

If you guys want to role play that out before dealing with my post, feel free.

I’ll mark off the coil of rope. With respect to the loot, with heavy loads for Ulyi and Barkot and whatever everyone else can spare, we should have everything except the least valuable and heaviest gear (i.e., we can carry everything marked as green, purple, or yellow). I suggest we pile the rest in Ayala’s bedroom and pull up the rope.

Sorry guys been super busy.. will look at the spread sheet in my morning Tuesday early...Celia would be opposed to murdering helpless beings without a trial. Sorry lawful good. Also leaving them tied up without food and water is at very least torture and at worst a slow death... she’d offer to stay with the prisoners until the venture captain sent some people to pick them up.

Oh, I don't think I ever mentioned it, but Embyr was long gone. She had nothing that she could grab though, so she left with just the clothes on her back.

Welcome back! You should catch up on the discussion thread and poll results. Reillana made a good point about the wererats, arguing that it’s almost impossible to keep shapeshifters tied up.

Why would it be torture to leave the prisoners tied up? I assumed it wouldn’t take more than a few hours for Lady Heidmarch to send a group of minions to go pick them up from where we left them near the dock. Do you think it will take longer?

Celia will (also) take one of the climber's kits for herself..(I'll take off 44gp) off my share of the loot...and add a climber's kit if that sounds alright..or Barkot can just tell us all how that adjust the split.

That should leave Celia with about 600gp..after the sell off of loot.

Celia - Go ahead and put the items and sale prices (45% of purchase price) down on Celia’s column on Tab 2 of the spreadsheet (“Loot Split”) for whatever you’re adding. The totals should adjust automatically.

I am not sure if I will be able to update today. My night is going to be very busy.

@Celia, let me know once you have leveled up. If there are going to be any significant changes, please let me know what you are changing.

I added the 500gp reward to the loot sheet, which gives everyone a nice bump. @Celia, I added the Climber's Kit to your column for you (and deducted the gold). Everyone's numbers on the spreadsheet should be up to date (unless we get more from Canayven).

Dang it, I was planning to have Barkot take Craft (drawing) or Craft (maps) at level 3...

Shattered Star Maps

RE: Mapping, I really just need someone to indicate in character that they are sketching a map as they go (and have some paper/journal/writing implements).

I assume you are all proceeding at Stealth pace anyways, so it doesn't need to slow the party down any more.

Doing my shopping and dang, splash weapons are heavy! I'll post suggestions for the party healing purchases (beyond what we've already discussed) tomorrow.

Also, is it still an open question whether to mention to Sheila that most of the Tower Girls are tied up at the dock level?

Squint would avoid mapping. He's not good with writing or reading in general.

I've updated my character sheet with the infusion of cash from things sold + VC Sheila (not VC Canayven just yet).

Squint would like to get alchemical fire flasks, and the jet caster sounds like a banging idea if we can find it. Otherwise, I'll be saving my coins for larger purchases later on.

Proposed list of healing and condition removal items to spend party funds on is up at Tab 3 of the Loot Sheet ("Party Shopping Lists"). Please post comments directly on the sheet using the Google Sheets comments thing. There's about 50gp left over, so we could add multiples of one or two of the cheap items as well, or just hang onto it.

I think I've finished Barkot's shopping as well (I added a separate tab to track his wishlist, purchases of new items, and sales of old gear - feel free to do the same for your character if you want), although I reserve the right to change my mind if I think of something else. He was over a couple of pounds of heavy encumbrance due to the weight of the jetcaster, oil, and alchemical splash weapons, so he is leaving some of his trail rations at Heidmarch Manor to bring him (barely) down to medium. He bought a scroll of Ant Haul x2 so that he can still help carry loot as needed.
