I've kept my silence for too long, I have to admit something to the party.. You all know that Hames worships Apsu, but if you read Hames' background you'll see that he's more like a snake than the dragons he worships. He even has Snake Style as a feat. You might have noticed how he has a little anti-Badger Lord sentiment (that he has kept under wrap so far). And you know how Hames is always the last one to come down? There's a very important reason for all of this, and the below video will bear all.

lolol :P Had you guys going there for a moment, huh? But yes, the whole character was made for that pun.

I hope that bribe works. I don't know if we could've have planned a better "good cop/bad cop" intimidation tactic, from Simeon & Hame's ruthlessness to Dieuwer's soft-hearted undermining to Gabriela's closing proposition.

True enough.
I haven't been giving Gabriela the life she deserves. Liveliness, rather. I'll try to be a bit more vicariously vivacious with her.

Hey guys, with the GM's permission I'd like to post some news and an offer:
I've just finished writing Book 1 in The Chronicles of the Black Gate, a new epic fantasy series that I'm publishing on Amazon. It's currently with my editor, but I'm hoping to publish it mid-April and have already begun outlining and plotting Book 2.
The reason I'm bringing this up is because I'm looking for sharp, creative, fantasy-oriented folk who might enjoy reading an ARC enough to write an honest review come launch day. If you're between books or curious enough to read the first chapter, you can grab a copy in either PDF or EPUB format here in my Dropbox folder.
Here's the very rough blurb:
Long ago, in a time forgotten, great teleportation gates were opened connecting disparate cities across the world into a single unified empire. Yet when one city destroys its gates and launches an invasion of the others, it creates an opportunity for long-standing grudges and ancient evils to flourish. For the first time in centuries sin casters are seen fighting alongside the rebels, and their presence threatens everybody from the Perfecti in their floating ivory city of Aletheia to the pale slaves laboring in the chthonic realm of Bythos.
The war sunders Lady Kyferin's family and realm, and when she's banished with her retinue to an abandoned and demon-haunted fortress in the wilds, her fate seems certain. Yet even in the darkest moment there can be a dream of light, and as war rages across the realm she must lead her knights and advisers along a desperate course if they're to survive their exile and hope for a vengeful return.
Many thanks!

Yep, I think so. If we were down to three, we could continue. I don't want to introduce new characters and I don't anticipate being able to recruit people to take up the existing characters.
If you'd like, I could describe how the adventure would/could have played out.
Please do! I'd appreciate the closure.

Well, let's see.
After a few more similar odd events in the study- 'something scaly kisses your nose', 'you see a raven for a moment but then it vanishes'- it would be discovered that the study is literally full of imp swarms.
Searching through Anders' books, you'd find details of his attendance at the theatre Sunday and his private box. You'd also find more details on the name and status of his mistress, a high-irhs ranking young noble-lady. You'd also discover that his books contain no mention of the Badger Lord, other than professing a moderate devotion to Asmodeus.
If you chose to talk to the nbole lady, you'd discover that Anders has been abusing her and exploiting her for his gain. She is of passive and mild temperament when society expects her as the social higher to be manipulative and controlling. She details how she was to enter the theatre through a secret entrance and join him in the box.
After that, you'd have a fairly free hand in figuring out how you assassinate Anders, preferably in the theatre. When my IRL group tried it, they had someone pretend to be his lover and sneak into the box, then had the rest come at the box from behind, leading to a quick-ish fight that eventually took him down. They set the house alight, and in the flames saw a badger-like symbol take form, and a similar symbol appear on their bodies almost like a tattoo.
If you'd like, I could advertise for a new PBP to run the next mission, with your characters having levelled up and 'completed' this mission. The missions were written for there to be both Badger and non-Badger PCs, so we could recruit more players to act as fellow Society companions unfamiliar with this conflict.

That's beautiful ;-;
I think I'd like a break from PbP, and all the Badgering. It was great playing with you all. Arkwright, you're a fantastic GM, and I really think I learned some things by watching how you ran this. Thank you all so much.
Simeon Cobblethatch |
Yeah, I'm scaling down too. Closing a PbP that I'm running, and backing away from a couple of other games. Thanks though, and the rest of the game sounds like it would have been a blast. Cheers!
