Once the others finish reporting the mundane details of killing things and what not Abolt approaches Balenar.
"Well now you do look a mess, can't have that."
He casts prestidigitation a few times to get the man cleaned up and presentable.

Corbett leans on his spear, and asks Balenar in an inquiring tone "If you don't me pryin', what exactly were you up to, surveying this tower? Gone exploring, and just got overwhelmed by the wee scaled-uns?"
He gives one of the fallen kobolds a soft nudge with the toe of his boot. "No offence meant on apart of me, I mean... I don't think I could take on seven of them at once. You did say seven, right? We seem to be missing one."

Myth nods at Brock and Corbett. "I suspect we haven't ran into their chief yet...he probably awaits us upstairs...probably be much tougher than the trogs we've faced thus far...
Can anyone heal Buck?
Brock, if we can't get Buck healed beforehand, keep him to the back when we go upstairs...he's fought very well and it's liable to be a tough fight even without his injuries..."

was gonna have him watch our backs unless we get desperate
Brock nods to Myth, "He will be fine for now, I will have him protect our backs. We should be able to handle a single trog without him in the fore."
I hope.

"My thanks," Balenar says, accepting his wayfinder and kit. He listens for a time, thanking Abolt for prestidigitation, as they converse before nodding and volunteering his services.
"I am capable of some small healing." He steps over towards the wolf and allows Buck to scent him before gently touching his head, murmuring a series of words and returning Buck to full health.

"Does anyone else require assistance?" he asks, adjusting his leather and the rest of his kit. "I'm able to cast a few small spells."
As it appeared they were going to continue up, he gave his weapons a quick check. "I offer my services," he says, bowing with rather a bit more flourish this time. "At least until we return to the Lodge." He pauses, adding, "And my thanks, also. They were planning to sacrifice me to their dark god," as he straightens.

Well then! It appears that we're ready to trudge on and sort out the rest of these foul skinks!"
A shock runs through Corbett's spine, then he begins digging through a pouch on his belt.
"Ah, one minute, lodge-brother."
Corbett unravels a napkin cloth from the morning's breakfast, unveiling a crusty heel of bread. He snaps it in half, stuffing part in his mouth, and extending the rest towards Balenar.
"You muft..."*smack* "be hngwy!" *chomp* "'ere, 'aff a peeph."

Brock shakes Balenar's hand in earnest appreciation at the healing of his wolf, "thank you for your kind consideration for Buck here, looks like he's ready to finish this task now!"
Gathering up his spear, he heads back towards the stairs, "good boy, Buck, you ready to eat another trog today? Don't worry, after this I promise we'll find you a nice deer, or pile of rabbits to rinse the taste and smell out. And I'll find some ale, lots of it."

Accepting the food almost hurriedly, Balenar visibly forces himself still to keep from jamming the entire bit in his mouth. He instead breaks a bit off and takes his time to eat it, before demolishing the rest in a similar fashion.
"My thanks," he says once the bread is finished. "I don't actually know how many days it's been, but it certainly feels like it's been forever!"
Once everything is sorted, the group moves up to the fifth and final floor.
The four wings of the tower are completely open on this level, forming one great, cross-shaped chamber with arched, 20-ft ceilings. The decayed remnants of a carpet run from the doorways at the end of each wing, meeting in the center, where a spiral staircase drops out of sight below. A large, throne-like chair stands in the middle of the eastern wing next to a big chest. Dim light filters into the room through the archways. You can see a troglodyte standing at the eastern archway, looking out into the distance, a stunted albino creature beside him. The troglodyte doesn't yet appear to have noticed you.
For every 5 that you beat the DC, you may ask for one piece of information from this list.
I'll be out tomorrow (today?) taking a friend to the airport, so feel free to trade places and plan for the encounter as necessary.

Welp, the troglodyte goes down, the arrow sticking out of the back of his throat as he topples forward, off of the building. The crocodile flinches and thrashes as its decidedly deceased master dies and falls, but the rock reminds him that he has other concerns for the moment.

"Where did you get that shortbow? Is it for sale?" Yagajimoro had no idea shortbows were such deadly weapons...

You were able to act by taking the two by surprise. c: Also, holy cow, these crits!
The crocodile makes a low grumbling sound as it stills, having no further desire or ability to continue now that it's been rather thoroughly pierced by weapons and no longer has a master.
There's a large wooden chest that you can look in, but as you take survey of the floor and yourselves, Balenar speaks.
“We-- We did it.” Balenar seems a bit surprised by this, but considering his experiences with this particular group, he can’t much be blamed. Turning to the group, he smiles broadly and throws his arms wide. “The first round’s on me! What say we head back? Venture Captain Valsin’ll be wanting our reports.”
- a potion of cat’s grace
- a potion of lesser restoration
- a wand of summon monster I (CL 3rd, 9 charges)
Well, that's the end of that! Holy cow, guys, that was what, three weeks?

Yagajimoro Iodoma bows earnestly to each and every party member before giving them a hearty handshake.
"That...wasn't nearly as bad as I expected it to be, though it was certainly a lot stinkier. I would be my honor to go on missions with any of you in the future."
Yagaji submits his mission report then heads to the temple to give thanks.

BOON Roll: 1d20 ⇒ 7
FYI: Boons are a special kind of chronicle that can provide some kind of small benefit to the character to which you choose to assign the boon. They are given out at conventions (including this PbP "convention"), and can be earned for GMing at a convention. I believe for this, we need to roll a 19 or 20 in order to win a boon for PbP GD IV. So everyone should roll a d20 labelled Boon in a post. If you get 19 or 20 then roll d4 (randomly determines which of the four possible boons you'll win)

A bath, a soft bed, and ale, lots of ale. But first we need to hunt for Buck's reward
