@GM: Did the skeletons have a different amount of HP? Buck and Myth both did 5 bludgeoning damage to each skeleton, his dropped but mine didn't...just trying to see if I can save the damage from Corbett and Yagajimoro since they wouldn't have been next to it when it exploded if Myth's shot dropped it...
| GM Hiyami |
@Brock: You're right, but since that was my error, I won't hold that against you. The gods were watching out for him or something, eh? c:
@Myth: Yes, just by one!

As the flaming skeleton explodes into pieces, Corbett turns away and holds his buckler up to protect his head. A searing pain washes over the side of his body, and he gasps for a breath as the air around him feeds the fireball before him.
In an second, the pile of bones disappears from before him, and he's left with a parting gift in a rather nasty burn. Once Corbett is able to regain his breath, he belts out an agonized grunt. He then takes his waterskin, and douses his singed arm to relieve a little bit of the pain.
"Just a burn. I'm not above saying it hurts like the seven hells, but I'll be fine for now."

Crude bunks line the walls of this room, which is filled with the nauseating stench of troglodytes. There are three/four/five troglodytes here, each of them turning to eye the intruders, their hands moving to their weapons.

Brock's spear bounces uselessly off of the troglodyte's scales, but Buck manages to get his jaws solidly clamped around his target. The troglodyte (blue), for his part, goes sprawling as he yips at the rather unpleasant sensation of teeth making themselves at home in his leg.
Yagajimoro nearly trips himself, distracted by the clatter, and his weapon moves through empty air. Corbett, though, advances a bit casually and, happy as you could please, jabs his spear right through the troglodyte, pinning the creature to the bed. It takes him a moment to retract his spear, but at the end of it, the gurgling troglodyte lays dead.
The last troglodyte makes for the door, ducking Brock's opportunistic jab, but taking the full brunt of Yagajimoro's. He manages only to turn the handle before falling upon the door, pressing it open with his corpse.
In the room, another troglodyte stands beside a brazier of hot coals, its acrid smoke mixing with the ever-present troglodyte stench. A few knives, pokers, and other metal implements lie atop a rusty iron box nearby.
The troglodyte growls low in his throat, feet apart. It grips a javelin in its clawed hands, but otherwise appears... somewhat surprised.
Without so much as pausing, Brock calls to Buck and the two advance, Buck leaping forward to take up a position behind their startled foe even as Brock stabs into the creature.

When you investigate this room, the door swings open and reveals a prisoner lying in the northeast corner, bound in manacles. He flinches at the sound of the door, but then sits up, squaring his jaw. From the looks of him, he’s been beaten rather thoroughly and hasn’t exactly been feasting. It’s only after a few seconds pass that he realizes that you aren’t, in fact, troglodytes and his eyes widen.
“Are you-- are you Pathfinders?” he asks, getting to his feet. He moves with ease despite the manacles. He examines each of you carefully with his somewhat guarded eyes, clearly uncertain whether you’re here to help or harm. Once satisfied, he nods.
“I’m Balenar. Balenar Forsend,” he introduces himself, bowing. Straightening, he grimaces. “I’d give it a bit more flourish, but these make it difficult.” He holds out the rusty, clanking manacles. “You, uh… Wouldn’t happen to be able to get me out of these, would you?”

Balenar rubs at his wrists, but gives an audible sound of relief. "Thanks for that," he says, before considering Myth's words. "Glad Valsin knew to be on the lookout!"
"I don't know how many you've come up against yet," he points out, but his eyes are considering when he adds, "But as far as I could tell there were... four, five... six -- at least seven distinct troglodytes that came to, ah, visit me."
He rotates his shoulders a bit, twists his torso, and then exhales heavily.
"You wouldn't have happened to find my wayfinder, would you?" he asks. "I can replace most of my kit once we get back to Absalom, but my wayfinder was a gift..."
