First compile all facts that we have and suspicions to be confirmed, if I go on a wild goose chase to find out info that we already know it is a waste of time for all of us... First who are these cultists so I know what to look for and second what are the facts known that pertain to them...

Male Drow Sorcerer 5

Message, All:
"Try to pay attention. We are tracing down a tiny eldrtitch machine in the form of a compass, which a group of cultists of Vol stole from house Lyrander. It was being housed in the Cogs, but will be moved to Aundair soon. We need to figure out when, and where, to intercept it."

ac 14/12/12, hp 33/33, F 2+, R 6+, W 4+, Per 9+, Init 2+

Missive, all:

Two ways of getting intel here, first would be to ask around the cogs and that area... The second would be to impersonate someone close to the Cultists immediate superior or the superior himself and gain access to that person's papers. My knowledge of that cult is limited, however the fact of the matter is they are a Karn cult, and Karn's keep paperwork on everything... It is almost an obsession of their's I swear, but it is useful in our case.

Human Artificer 4 HP:21/27 AC:17/16 f-f/11 tch

"So, I believe that we had decided earlier to stake out the location of the crypt to see if we could see the cultists leaving with the Astrolabe, correct? Shall we continue with that course of action then?" Danir was beginning to feel like keeping this group on topic was like teaching proper etiquette to Halfling barbarians- amusing but mostly just futile...

Male Drow Sorcerer 5

"Indeed, let us go."

ac 14/12/12, hp 33/33, F 2+, R 6+, W 4+, Per 9+, Init 2+

I will go pursue leads in the cogs and the like... Meet me in an hour or two at the entrance to the cogs...

You're escape went without a hitch. Looks like you've avoided the city watch, so far. However, a murder will not go unnoticed in this kind of a city for long. ;)

The lead on the Astrolabe -- (or compass) -- might start to turn cold.

Male Drow Sorcerer 5

Xov follows Danir and the others back to search for cultists.

Message, Othan:
"Did...did Ressir give you a kill license? Even if he did it would be worth being careful..."

Human Marksman (Shroud/Sniper) 5

Ebran follows, ready for a stakeout.

Human Artificer 4 HP:21/27 AC:17/16 f-f/11 tch

Danir searches the area around the crypt entrance where the astrolabe had been kept, for signs of it having been moved

Perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (16) + 12 = 28

male human lvl 2 (varient multi-class rogue)

Othan stays with the others.

Xov:
"what other choice did we have?"

Male Drow Sorcerer 5

Othan:
"Just be a bit more careful..."

Silver Crusade

male Human Atlanteologist 10/G.eneral O.perations D.irector 8

There are signs that it has been moved. ( Sorry about making you wait, real life did get into the way). There are lines that showed skid marks, moving an object from one place to another, then the skidmarks stop. :)

Human Marksman (Shroud/Sniper) 5

"Hmm, so the skidmarks stop, so it was picked up i guess? Did we have any leads on where it was supposed to be going? We need to hurry"

Male Drow Sorcerer 5

"Well, if it was teleported, we don't have any chance at all..."

Human Marksman (Shroud/Sniper) 5

"Just because it gets somewhere fast... or instantly... doesn't mean it will remain in constant motion. We will be able to catch it somewhere. We just need a lead. When you were gathering information earlier, did you all get any leads where it might go besides here?"

Human Artificer 4 HP:21/27 AC:17/16 f-f/11 tch

"Let's think for a moment- if the item was heavy enough to leave skid marks up to this point, there are several options: Teleportation- seems unlikely as it is costly to perform on something that heavy and would have drawn attention. A cart or other vehicle to haul the item. A creature large enough to move the item, also likely to be noticed.

Let us find out if any of these things was seen by any of the locals since we left the crypt and at least try to narrow down what method of movement we are following. Sound good?"

ac 14/12/12, hp 33/33, F 2+, R 6+, W 4+, Per 9+, Init 2+

This is the Blood we are talking about, the options are far more myriad then your currently thinking... Anyone ever read or heard about the Karnathi Bone Riders?

Human Marksman (Shroud/Sniper) 5

perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23 to spot tracks of any sort to suggest how the box might have been moved after the tracks stopped. I know survival is to actually track in a direction, but perception just to see what kind of tracks, if any. wheel ruts/bare decomposing feet/metal boot scuffs/swipes in the dust from leather boots/etc

"We've little time to talk at length on the matter. Leads, have you any real leads?"

ac 14/12/12, hp 33/33, F 2+, R 6+, W 4+, Per 9+, Init 2+

Nothing here, the Blood is secretive and well trained in these arts... If this were Karnath itself I suspect they would be easy to track down, here however so far from there home territory they are naturally more cautious...

male human lvl 2 (varient multi-class rogue)

Othan will assist Ebran in his search.

You find that that you do spot tracks. Apparently your quarry was to cheap to pay for a Teleport spell. Heaven help them since you are now on their case. They went east and the direction turned towards the north. Are they heading to the Lightning Rail station?

Human Marksman (Shroud/Sniper) 5

"Hah! tracks. Headed east. I can't really follow tracks that long, but can keep an eye out for them along the way. because THAT makes sense, pathfinder I figure they're headed to the rail station."

Male Drow Sorcerer 5

"Let's go then!"
perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23

"Let us catch up with them then and end this, although collateral damage should be avoided once we reach them..."

male human lvl 2 (varient multi-class rogue)

"I will try to avoid unnecessary deaths."

Silver Crusade

male Human Atlanteologist 10/G.eneral O.perations D.irector 8

(Avoid unnecessary deaths, huh? )

It takes you some time to find the vehicle they have the Astrolabe stashed in. Assuming it took a better part of the day (the city is still huge), you find it parked beside a magic boutique named "Voldemort's."

male human lvl 2 (varient multi-class rogue)

I said I would try, othan gets impatient easily, and gets angry when he is impatient. And angry shifters become dangerous shifters rather easily.

"I probably shouldn't be the one asking questions, but people around here probably saw the cart arrive."

Human Artificer 4 HP:21/27 AC:17/16 f-f/11 tch

"Perhaps Xov and I should go into the shop and speak with the owner while the rest of you find out what you can about the cart and if the astrolabe is still in it?"

Male Drow Sorcerer 5

"Sounds like a plan..."

Human Marksman (Shroud/Sniper) 5

As for Absylon, he finds some suspicious characters guarding the side of Voldemort's.

According to the roll, you sense about 5 people, nothing special about them.

ac 14/12/12, hp 33/33, F 2+, R 6+, W 4+, Per 9+, Init 2+

Message, all:

It seems the shop is guarded, I reckon them to be street thugs or perhaps Blood supporters perhaps both...

Male Drow Sorcerer 5

message, all:
"Well, then, is a distraction in order?"

Human Marksman (Shroud/Sniper) 5

response to the message:

"What's the plan? I can create a fog cloud if we are rolling this away"

Male Drow Sorcerer 5

message, all:
"I could make some illusory noise...although, rolling the entire cart away without being noticed seems hard...could it be searched here?"

Human Marksman (Shroud/Sniper) 5

reply:
"If it can be opened, yes."

ac 14/12/12, hp 33/33, F 2+, R 6+, W 4+, Per 9+, Init 2+

Reply:

I suggest using both the smoke cloud and Othan, he can play the role of marauding thug pretty well... While they are busy dealing with Othan the Fog breathing shifter we will search the cart...

Human Marksman (Shroud/Sniper) 5

reply:
"The fog cloud is a once per day kinda thing so i want to make sure we can open the box first"

Human Artificer 4 HP:21/27 AC:17/16 f-f/11 tch

"I can open the lock, I am an artificer after-all"

Human Marksman (Shroud/Sniper) 5

before i go all POOOFFFFF up in here, can Ebran see some sort of lock or lid on the thing? or does it need pried open? Also, Ebran will look at it with Detect Psionics (are we using transparency rules? i forget). The wood shouldnt be thick enough to block it unless lead-lined.

Human Artificer 4 HP:21/27 AC:17/16 f-f/11 tch

Getting as close as he can without drawing suspicion from the guards, Danir attempts to determine whether there is some sort of chest or lockbox in the vehicle and also if there are any apparent mystical defenses/traps on it.

You do see an ossuary. It looks big enough for the astrolabe. The stone cover looks like it can be moved with some effort, but for all intents and purposes, it's sealed and made to look like an ossuary. Whatever is in there, they want people to believe it's a collection of dead bones.

As for using detect psionics, the men guarding the doors show up like christmas trees. The Astrolabe is magic based (being an eldritch machine of course).

Human Marksman (Shroud/Sniper) 5

so no magic psionics transparency ?

reply:
"so heavy stone lid. Distraction, and a few to open it. Cant tell if it's inside, but those tough guys are psionic."

Male Drow Sorcerer 5

all:
"If you provide fog, I can provide distracting noises."

He prepared to cast ghost sound.

Human Marksman (Shroud/Sniper) 5

reply:
"I get it, I flee invisible a short distance. Put the lid back on after if you can."

Human Artificer 4 HP:21/27 AC:17/16 f-f/11 tch

So no locks or Traps then?

Silver Crusade

male Human Atlanteologist 10/G.eneral O.perations D.irector 8

Forgot about the locks and traps.

There are two traps, of course. You can't tell which one is except by their mechanisms. One is a trap when you open the ossuary, it releases something. There's also a spring trap in the vehicle.

So two spring traps, you're not sure what they release. As for locks, no locks on the ossuary. The lid is heavy enough to deter most folks.
